Pfft, all fleshlings, living or slightly-mouldy not-dead, will eventually bow to my infallible logic
-
I just renamed my level 31 Fortunata, as I'd finally found a concept that I could roll with to resurrect the character. Sadly, it seems I was literally one day late on the sale of rename tokens.
Which begs the question, really; why the hell am I paying nearly £8 or more just to rename my character? There is no other way to earn renames, in or out of game, so the sole reasoning behind the price, to my mind, is the fact there is a monopoly on that function. I'm not paying for convenience here, as I am with respecs or alignment shifts (i.e. stuff I never buy because I can get it in game), no, I'm paying because that is my ONE OPTION.
That's pretty crooked logic, in my opinion. If not downright mean. The only other 'option', that's only practically valid (for people like me) below a certain level and invalid just on principle IMO, is to re-roll the character. What if I have badges or stuff on there that I don't want to lose (anniversary etc)? Well, tough apparently? Besides, for me at least, getting back to level 31 isn't something I can burn up in a few days, so my one method is to shell out in cash for a rename.
Why are they so damn expensive? -
Quote:If that is always followed, then old sets will simply be left to die, because newer sets will be better built, have better animations and be of a far higher quality than the old junk.This.
It would take the exact same amount of time to create new animations for an existing set as it would to create a brand new set. This is because the vast majority of the time spent is in coding the animations, the people who actually come up with the powers and the numbers for them are a separate department.
You can make a car as shiny as you want on the outside. Doesn't matter none of the chassis is rusting through... -
I've never seen *anyone*, in comics, films or reality, use a sword in the same way as a mace or axe. And in a 'style' that can only be called 'bludgeoning'. Not to mention 'Whirling -' just, imo, looks stupid no matter what set it's for
-
Quote:I know. And everyone time one of them says it, I feel the pressing urge to perform percussive maintenance to the face with a keyboard. Because that logic is FALSE. If the old stuff, i.e. the majority of the game, is BAD, then it doesn't matter how shiny the new shiny is; it will just make the old stuff look even worse.I
... and in MMOs it's more common for new stuff to be added than old stuff be revamped. The devs have even said a few times that they're more likely to do new stuff than do major reworks on old stuff - even when asked about sets that are in drastic need of reworking.
This is especially true for zones and missions, but still true for sets. Where every new set so far has been pretty unique and very hard to say any bits, except with proliferation, are a copy of 'X', there are TONS of old sets that are exact carbon copies. Looking at you, Sword, Mace and Axe... -
Quote:Y'know, when people kept mentioning Pets in other combinations, I always thought of pets like MM pets; offensive tools.I like the idea of an Assault Primary and Pets Secondary. The Pets could be similar to Mastermind pets... but would focus on Support and making the character/team more survivable. Also, instead of the Attacks that usually go in the Pet primary of a MM, they would be Defensive powers like a few SR powers with Ninja, or a few self-focused Force Field powers with Robotics, etc.
Not only would this setup make the development of the Pets themselves easier since the actual pets would always benefit two ATs, but the development of Dominator Secondaries would also be more profitable since they would also benefit two ATs.
Just my thoughts.
Having defensive pets would be....different. In a way, it reverses the roles; the pets are all about buffing and keeping you/your team alive, while YOU are the damage dealer. It's like swapping the roles in an MM.
....I like it. I actually like it. -
Quote:^ 110% /SignedAscension Armour - can we remove the 50 requirement for it. Two reasons: 1; players can unlock it and then it's available to all their 50s, Incarnate or not and 2; once unlocked a player has it FOREVER so if/when they drop to Premium they still have access to the parts but no access to the powers. Also a bit insulting when we see a potentially low level 5 NPC wearing the belt even if he is Wind (Zephyr from Dr Graves' arc *shudders*).
Circle capes - saw this while levelling an alt. Little cape with a pattern to match the new CoT style on the Agony Mages. Filed under Vanguard backplates.
Some synergy would be nice to clean up some option choices for certain pieces:- Syndicate pattern used to be available for female pants as well as male
- Barbarian bikini is only under tops w/skin and not under jackets
- Females also can't wear Steampunk boots with Resistance pants as the boots don't appear in the tucked-in pants choice and yet they do for males
I mentioned the Longbow spandex pattern before, and the LB jetpack, grenade bandoleer (lieutenants have it), leg pouches (belt option) and Warden helmet.
These are already existing assets (along with the VG backplate and thigh plates) so, please, please, PLEASE let us have them! You have no idea how frustrating it is not being able to get a decent Longbow look. Please Dink -
Rikti AT: Superior.
Merits: Clear.
Continued recommendation: Creation of AT. -
Yes, please. The current Broadsword (and axe and mace, for that matter) 'style' looks NOTHING like any sword technique EVER. You might as well be beating them with a lead pipe. Oh, wait, you can! Because it uses the exact same animations as Axe and Mace! -_- Old set is old and in dire need of some animation love...

The Destroyers were like they were purposefully built to bully MMs and Dominators. At least Scrapyarders have their patch-spammers at LT class, rather than minions...
Oh, and I'd totally forgotten about the Praet mission spawn layout. i.e. stupidly easy to over-aggro, given how close some mobs are. -
-
Quote:Yup. And while it's not helpful in the sense of 'Well it exists, in a horrifically limited way' it IS useful to point out to any fool trying to drag out the tired old 'Ohmergawd Tankmage!' argument. Because the 'tankmage' combination has already been made in EATs and has been balanced. Ergo, should the Devs make another with Blast/armour or assault/armour then it's highly..I'd even say certain that said AT will be balanced, at least after the first few tweaks and passes. Both Blast/Armor and Melee/Support can be made with Arachnos Soldier ATs.
Unfortunately, those ATs are tied to a highly specific concept and can only be started in one of the three starting zones. Ideally they would take the concept of the Arachnos Soldier, broaden the concept with multiple powersets, and make them available to all three zones. -
Quote:AmbushAmbushAmbushAmbushAmbushAmbushAmbushAmbushAm bushAmbushAmbushAmbushAmbushAmbushAmbushAmbushAmbu shAmbushAmbushAmbushAm-I don't like Praetoria because it is annoyingly hard for starting characters.
I'd actually like to play through and check out the storyline, but ever time I try frustration quickly sets in and I go back to Paragon or the Rogue Isles.
GIVE IT A [PANCAKE] [PANCAKE] REST, YOU [PANCAKES]!!!!
Dear god, who the hell had the addiction to spambushes in Praetoria? And who let the guy who designed the low level Vahzilok mobs out of his padded cell again to make ALL of the Praetorian mobs?
THAT is why I don't play Praetoria; the difficulty is set to 'cheating'. Not 'hard' or even 'a challenge'. No, compared to Primal, Praet just outright cheats. It's lazy or ignorant design, and I can't stand it.
i.e. I agree with the Goat -
Go to the Isles, beat up Scorpion, steal his tech.
Go to the Isles, stop Mako tapping into more Leviathan power. Get it yourself.
Go to-
You get my point. Foiling the villain and getting power is HEROIC. Ergo, it should be possible. It doesn't take a huge stretch of logic to come up with decent stories for it. -
It's really gotten to the point, for me at least, that the same old combinations of power sets in the current Archtypes has gotten...stale. There's only so many combos you can make, only so many concepts. There are still concepts that are impossible, or night on without heavily planned and expensive IO abuse.
I know there have been many suggestions over the years, and I'm honestly staggered how there are STILL no new ATs at all. I could understand pre-GR, because you would HAVE to make two ATs at a time; one for Blue and one for Red. Now? That issue no longer exists.
Just off the top of my head I can already think of two or three of the more stable sounding concepts that have been mentioned before;
-Blast/Armour or Assault/Armour. My personal suggestion. Pistols/SR characters, Fire Blast/Fire Armour, Energy/Invul power armour character. A big ol' chunk of character concepts there.
-Melee/Support or Support/Melee. Not one I'd likely go for, but I know I've seen it suggested a LOT over the years.
-EATs; PPD/Longbow/Praetorian/Hamidon/Rikti. The others have been suggested before, but Rikti is still my personal bee-in-the-bonnet, because it fits perfectly with the 'Story Driven Epic' aim the Devs mentioned for EATs. You can have good Rikti (Traditionalists) Bad Rikti (Restructurists) and Neutral/Rogue independent Rikti. Unique body-types, powers that could only work in an EAT framework, branching powers... It works. Besides, it's been ages since the Rikti war just got left to stagnate in favour of the new Praetorian shiny...and, given they have experience with the Battalion? Could be handy in future. -
Quote:I mean the Arachnos Soldier uniform, the armour variant in slot 1. Right now, you can ONLY have that slot with a helmet on. Unlike the Widows, who can have a helmet or not. I'm asking (as many others have done) to have the option of a 'no helmet' option on that first, armoured slot. Not sure I understand, you get a mission early on to provide an alternate costume slot to go "undercover" - and you can use any costume part on the 2nd slot.
I currently have a hooded soldier - none of the funky soldier costume pieces.
Example;
Operative Kuzmin
It's possible. We KNOW it's possible. Yet the players, for no apparent decent reason, do not have access to that option.
And, before anyone says 'UI coding' or anything like that, go back and read the OP. The UI already exists, I saw it. I only wish I'd thought to take screenshots for swapping away from it. And now it seems non-replicable.
Either way, this should not be a hard request to fulfil, given everything is already in-game... -
Quote:Yeah, that's my reasoning. I mean, paypal does it all anyway, right? ^^;eh, I wouldn't be put off by seeing euros or pounds. Just put whatever you are familiar with and people will do their own conversions. Plus you'd have to update the conversions all the time. You don't have to deal with weird numbers if you stick with a single currency then you don't have weird numbers.

Quote:You mean a bit like this? For me, I'd rather be a trekkie than testosterone-overloaded Stocky Refrigerator Space Marine Big McLargehuge.
Even so, the logic of 'Redshirts' being the ones without helmets doesn't work in CoH, because none of them ever bite it. The helmeted variety kick the bucket by the boat load, however.
Anyway! Helmetless Arachnos! We need them. -
Agree totally with that.

Quote:Well that's when we differ then, because I never teleport with the Dwarf. If I want to get places, I swap to Human or Nova. For me at least, teleport is just a waste of endurance when it comes to combat. As mentioned, it's been like this for a while. Well before Titan Weapons.
Complaining about it now is like complaining that they didn't broadcast the 1859 Olympic games on TV.
Plus, I don't know about you, but I teleport in Dwarf fairly frequently if I'm having to tank. So "ONE example out of the vast majority of the time" is not frankly rare. It's 1/3 of the total offensive powers of White Dwarf.
Quote:Not sure why you're so intent on acting like a five year old brat in this thread. Seriously, I can almost hear you huff and stomp your foot with that "Fine, whatever" in the last post. -
Fine, whatever. In that case I suggest that the change be changed to use the new mechanics so that we can have the old footstomp attack when on the ground and the handclap when in the air. Because, with the handclap still using the footstomp sfx when it hits, it looks really damn stupid IMO.
-
Quote:So? ONE example out of the vast majority of the time? And, again, see the 'use TW mechanics to trigger the hand clap variant if somehow not on the ground.'Because they CAN teleport, and when they did so, there was still a momentary hover. So you couldn't TP in and footstomp - you HAD to wait (or use one of the other melee attacks.)
IOW - no foot on ground -
= no footstomp.
(So best to hold off on the "Uh... dumherr" until you find out it actually *doesn't* make sense, hmmm?)
The power fx even still acts like you use foot-stomp, in BOTH forms for crying out loud. If they were going to make it a 'fix' at least do the damn thing right... -
No, no, no, you're applying Star Trek Logic when you should be using Gears of War logic. I.e. if you're wearing a helmet, you have about a 90% chance of catching the spontaneous dead. Helmetless vastly increases your survival chances
-
/Signed, hard. You can get away with pistol twirling a little bit, but stuff like piercing rounds, even on my mostly cyborg character who can pull off stuff like bullet bending, looks stupid either way. I mean...why throw your guns up in the air? It doesn't even look that cool for rule of cool
