Also depends if you want the badges doing the side mishes gets you.. aren't they part of an accolade? Or did I imagine that?

My fastest clocked time on the keyboard for accurate typing was 120 words a minute.. I could hit 150 if I didn't care about typos, but that was back when I was 15.. I really don't know if I've gotten faster or slower since then.
However, in my experience, someone who consistantly talks/types in chatspeak is usually less mature and rarely capable of engaging in heavy and/or complex roleplay. To me, it also shows a lack of care towards the roleplay. If you cannot take the time to write a word out properly, can I expect you to take the time to think of quality ideas for the story?
When text fighting, I've never seen anyone use chatspeak to type (even with the dubious reason of lack of time to type). Mind, in the circle I play with, its kind of an unspoken rule to give the other person a chance to answer your attack. Just because I can type faster than my RP friends, doesn't mean I need to launch 10 attacks in the time it takes for them to type one.
My favorite memory was one random chatspeaking person telling me that they were "more michure" than me after a discussion on the need to type things out (this one was so illegible, it wasn't understandable). I walked away laughing from that one and moved on with my day, which probably should be the reaction if you come across someone who's RP style clashes with yours.
Edit: Edited the 3rd paragraph for making no sense... -

Just try asking politely.. the worst they can do say its too late to change it.

Most servers have global channels for forming TFs, monster hunts, and so forth. Have you tried joining those?

I was paladin to.. tried to click a forum and it told me I didn't have permission
I refreshed the page and was myself again. I was using XP/Firefox 3.5.3

Quote:I've always considered them a sort of right of passage. I actually did try this weekend to start a toon and level without the sewers.. and my scrapper was sent running across Steel Canyon at level 7 to talk to a contact who sent her back across Steel to the other side of the map to try to get through a door with a level 15 mob in front of it.. this is valuable experience?I may be the odd person out here, but I don't really consider sewer teams to be a noticeable improvement over AE farms. I don't consider either to be a valuable location to spend your early levels on.
But then, my view has been for a while that the low-level game is in dire need of improvements (both where game mechanics and content are concerned).
Before the farming nerfs, finding people forming sewer teams, radio mishes, etc was few and far between unless you had an already established circle of friends who were willing to do it. -
Quote:I don't check vet badges until they display an outstanding level of ignorance about the game. Or unless I'm just bored.Damn it! I keep meaning to check out people's veteran badges, and I always forget. Why does it keep slipping my mind?
edit: I probably should add that by ignorance, I mean a general belief that they know everything about the game and refuse to consider otherwise. Not those that genuinely want to learn. -
On Virtue yesterday, I was running through Atlas to a mish and I saw in broadcast..
"Sewer team forming- 4 spots"
It made me smile since it'd been forever since I'd seen a sewer team form. Guess people are starting to trickle back to the real game. -
Yes.. the space is much better than the underscore..
-
Well.. they probably intend to make up for the lost revenue in lifetime memberships by offering regular bonus packs. $10 for that one.. $10 for this other one.. etc etc..
-
One way to find out.. like Abrams said, anyone mentioned this to PK yet?

Try Avast!
It has a smaller footprint (uses less memory and CPU) and has a nifty screen saver virus scanner.
It's also free.
And it sounds piratey. That alone makes it awesome.

I second this. Avast found stuff that TrendMicro and Norton couldn't, and got rid of stuff that TrendMicro and Norton couldn't. That alone sold me. YARRR! and haven't looked back!

Kaspersky did the same thing for me. -

The next time there's a thread in the Suggestions Forum for a reciever-side Email filter that will set you to "only recieve from friends/G-Friends/SG-mates/etc." put in your support.

This is the answer. (imo)

Have we gotten an answer on why this is not being done/implemented? Is there some system limitation that prevents it?
Also, don't forget to add that you should only recieve emails from people on your OWN friends list. Otherwise spammers could just /friend everyone and still spam the heck out of us. -

"You fail me yet again, Rikti."
"Madness? This is the Rikti War Zone!"
I loved the Last Unicorn one, D_R!
edit to add:
"Total shambles after the last war. 3 kids and a Rikti could take the planet." -

I'm confused by something. If spammers moved away from tells because trial accounts can't send tells now... how are they sending emails? I thought trial accounts couldn't use the email system either.
If they can, then why not just shut off email for trial accounts? Almost no one uses it anyway except the spammers, so no great loss for trial accounts. I'd shut it off on my own full account if I had the option.

Because they're paying for accounts with stolen credit cards. Money that the credit company takes back so NCSoft doesn't get anything from it either... and the RMTers get temporary use of "paid" accounts. -
Wouldn't the problem be fixed if they would just offer a button to recieve only from friends on your friendslist and SGmates with the button defaulted to be on?
How hard can that possibly be to do? -
That would be too good, hilker.. and we can't have that.

I tried to edit in my SG base the other day on virtue because I wanted to watch an RP session between some SG mates while I worked on a mission to advance our storyline.. and got that same error. So I can back up Aisynia.. the editor doesn't work in SG bases. I used the button too...

1. Yes
2. Yes, last night in fact. I sent an IC email to another toon in the SG -
I agree with FatherXmas that new players should have AE access curtailed for 3 months.. I know the devs will never do it, but I still think its a good idea.
I think the two best "AE baby" examples I've seen were the following:
1) A lvl 50 brute waits until the 2nd mission of the mid-level villain respec trial to ask, "What's a respec?" He then complains that one vine is doing massive damage to him and that we need to concentrate on killing it... while we're still clearing out the CoT mobs.
2) Being told by an entire team of AE babies what an idiot I was for not taking pets on my level 50 Mind Control/Kinetics controller.
Leader: "Trollers are useless without pets"
Me: "Yeah.. SB and Fulcrum shift are useless.."
