I just got seekers last night for the first time...when I have read guides they never explained how to properly use seekers. I guess they thought it was a no brainer well, I had no idea and I would summon them in my location waiting for them to do something....well after getting frustrated after an hour of using them I decide to read the specs on them and check out the range...DEAR GOD.
Even unslotted they up my solo survivability heck, when I can get to the point on slotting them with SO's it will be sick! Traps truly is fun. -
In short, what Dev do I have to sleep with to get Ice Melee Proliferated to Brutes or Stalkers and Pushed for as soon as Going Rogue? (Considering any of the Devs swing that way or if there's any lady Devs) Come on now...Don't be shy!
-
With Frozen Fists and Ice Sword one can build fury fast as well. I have yet to lvl up Hibernate but I know even on a Tank you loose aggro not fury but aggro...it's like Aett said...we are all debating about what times of old...I think now it will be no big deal.
-
You can't build fury in hibernate? Wouldn't you still get some fury from them trying to hit you? or no? Either way give me Ice/Ice plz i don't care lol.
-
Thanks so much guys for the replies! Heck, what's the defender defense cap? I might pick up Combat Jump while I'm at it! This toon is amazing. I've been waiting for Traps to become a primary since I started playing! This toon is already lvl 17 from only 4 days of playing mainly Frostfire's mish!
I bring so much to the team it's not even funny I haven't had this much fun since I rolled a SOA or WS. -
Is it overdoing it if my fender takes FFG and maneuvers and fully slots them for def?
-
You can't do Sirens + Time Bomb? Just slot on sleep on Siren's song.
-
Quote:nice!I have a Rad/Traps that usesTtime Bomb often enough. It's even 6 slotted. It's seen a lot of different slotting... atm it's got 6/6 Kinetic Crash I think...
I picked up a stealth IO and I also took stealth, invis, and Phase Shift. Of course the stealth + stealth IO made for laying timebomb at the start of a fight quite easy, but without laying any other traps or debuffing the enemy first, it wasn't worth it damage wise.
When I picked up Phase shift, Time bomb began to shine a bit brighter. I could aggro mobs with acid, seekers, attacks etc... phase and get a 30 sec timeout to lay Trip mine, Time bomb, trip mine, and usually another PGT or seekers. Nothing would be affected as I stood in PS... mobs would get in closer... Aim + PS toggled off... Boom Boom Boom! Scourge the rest.
I still occasionally use time bomb as an opener or pulling method, but somehow the timing of phase shift + the nophase effect is right there with my Time bomb so I call a mid combat "time-out" to nuke whatever is still standing every time the powers are available. Sure It may seem a waste to take 3 powers from the stealth pool just for Time Bomb, but I think a /Traps Corr benefits from Phase Shift for many more reasons that just its ability to make Time Bomb easier to use in combat. 8 more reasons to be exact! -

Quote:Don't feel bad I thought the same as well...in fact MANY ppl told me how horrid Ice melee was...but that was b/c they were basing the fact on the old stuff.I have been struggling for a while with my Ice tank... Um three years I think...
Frozen Aura and Freezing touch are both out of my build. And why? "One's a sleep, the other a hold". Guess I need to revisit that assumption!
This is a very useful guide, and I am now going straight to Mids to see how I can fix my Iceman.
Thanks for writing!

Quote:Not bad either...I want to go with Earth Mastery but I love Melt armor so much and i love the dmg from the fire APP.You may have some END problems with your build.
You may want to take more fire powers from your epic if you have Fiery Embrace (get Fire Blast instead of Air Sup. and find a way to put more slots in it).
Consume will have more utility than Rise of the Phoenix. I feel that self-rez powers are a waste of a power choice unless you happen to have a free slot. You shouldn't be dying frequently enough to need it. You can always combine insps to make a rez.
I have a build (currently at level 42) that isn't an AV killer or anything, but is relatively cheap. It reflects my control-oriented philosophy. The two holds allow you to hold most bosses immediately and permanently in the Burn patch. The Ice Patch/Burn combo works pretty well against most minions and LTs, even considering how much Fear Burn generates.
Faster recharge on Healing Flames is important, so I'd emphasize Recharge enhancements over Healing enhancements there.
The three slots in Health in your build may not be worth it. According to Mids, the regen rate on your build is 16.2 hp/sec, while it's 14.9 hp/sec on mine. Over the 17.3 second recharge time on my Healing Flames you will regen 22.5 more hit points. It seems like a drop in the bucket on a 2050 hp-tanker.
Again, this was a fairly cheap build (not my main server) and it could certainly be optimized a great deal at large expense. The priciest stuff would be the -KB IOs, Obliteration and the Positron's Blasts. Everything else you can probably get from the market cheaply, or with Bronze rolls from AE tickets.

Indeed my brutes and tanks will love it! But my WS loves it most of all!
-
I was going to make my second build my Tank build close to that. You gave me insight on what's ahead.
With my Tank build I was going to go with Earth to keep them in the patches...or I could just go insane and slot mostly for slows...*cringe*. -
I love necroing a thread! Hehe I think I am going to stick with this build choice. I also have a Shield ICe tanker but I want a invul one to so I can be more straight forward instead of clicky clicky.
-
Nice! I tend to be a bit everywhere and I choose what fancies me I think with most of my toons I need to work on a Niche. I am going to save this thanks a bunch btw!
-
Would that really hurt Fury Vel? I know this is not a fair comparison but my Ice/Ice Dom has no prob getting Domination up.
-
Quote:I'm Kinda Shy about posting builds b/c I am to lazy to completely IO my toons out but I will get on it.Holy thread necromancy. Do whatever anyone else does and post a build for people to look at.
New Dawn you don't understand how long it took me to find anything on a Fire/Ice Tank...I feel like Harrisson Ford when he found the treasure.
I am going to make a tank build as well but the only catch is I am going to sacrifice Fiery Embrace, Build Up and Fireball for The Fighting Pool.
I can easily deal w/o having a travel power but I might replace Superspeed with Fireball on the Tanker build.
From what I know Fiery Aura's Weakness is KB and Immob so I tried to focus on that mainly as well as end Recovery. (I heard Fiery Aura can get costly END wise)
I'm not covered much on Toxic Res or Def or Resis that' why I need your help I am used to playing squishies lol.
The way I want to play him is one Taunt the baddies get them to Dogpile on me then I will turn on Ice Patch and Burn with some yummy Frozen Aura PBaoe...then add of course Blazing Aura and Melt Armor to the mix and it get's quite Nice. I wouldn't mind slotting for slows but keep in mind I am going to play this toon like a brute.
I apologize in advance again I normally don't post builds. *blush*

I wish there was a Fire/Ice guide i need some advice on this build since I know NOTHING of the two sets.
-
^THIS. I am painfully try to lvl a tank so I can get to the Ice goodness...the sad part is I will not be able to do this again b/c i hate tanks. PLEASE put Ice back in COV I would make a Ice/Invul or Ice/Elec in a heartbeat.
-
Go for it Bliss I think it can happen with a bit of Crazyness I have soloed about 3 AV's with my Merc/Pois the only prob i have is mitigation I might change up my build to make it more mastermind Tankish.
-
I love Ice Melee. I have a SD/Ice Tank and I always get compliments on my awesomeness...the only problem is I play him like a brute :P.
Dear Devs please give Ice Melee to brutes or Stalkers I already have 2 /Icy Assualt Doms and 1 Ice/Ice blaster! -
Nemo how do you feel about the New Change?
-
Most scrappers deal more damage no? Maybe if he's dishing out serious dmg it ends up pissing the mob off and they all turn on him...Heck I have a few doms I've played in the past that can easily get all aggro on them lol.
