  1. 1. Are you male or female?

    Male

    2. What ATs do you mostly play, and for what reason(s)?

Tanker / Scrapper / Mastermind / Defender. ( I enjoy beating the missions using different playstyles )

    3. Redside, blueside, purpleside, or any combination of the above? Mostly Blue. I just enjoy the missions / scenery better there.

    4. What are your favorite story arcs?

I used to enjoy soloing the old version of Positron when I had the time. Portal missions are fun too.

    5. What makes you like this game?

    Wide range of unique playstyles.

    6. What other games do you play?

Everquest / Everquest II / DDO

    7. How long have you been playing?

CoH? a few years. MMO's, since EQ launched

    8. How many alts do you have, what is the average level range, and how many are level 50?

At least 20 alts that I actually play. Only one level 50. Some of my most frequently played characters have xp disabled.

    9. Do you bother with softcaps, set bonuses, and all that numerical stuff? What difficulty settings to you normally use?

Yes, I use all the numerical stuff. I love set bonuses. Difficulty is based upon the capabilities of the character, I turn it up high enough to have a need to actually think about what I am doing. (My level locked 22 dark / willpower tanker for example does not even take damage with difficulty less than +1/x3 for example)

Not all of them are from another dimension.
Some of the Ritki have managed to regain their human identities and / or defect to Vanguard.
  3. I wish for immortality of the type possessed by Solomon Gursky in the short story "The Days of Solomon Gursky."

This is a nano-tech form of immortality, though while not absolute, does permit him to live long enough to witness the end of the universe, and the rebirth of an infinite number of new ones. At one time he also creates thousands of copies of himself, which are seeded across the galaxy at random, though that is separate from the immortality itself.

In the end he gives up both his godhood and the memory of his godhood to enter a copy of his original universe, with the singular alteration that he never discovered the secret of immortality.

The demon was created by the device in question, and Wildfire was the last line of defense while Braniac and Matter Eater Lad were inside.

Eating the device drove Matter Eater Lad insane.

My decker had a full set of rigger wires back when I played (I had the 1'st edition rules).

I ran the vehicles, and I ran drones. While I was never quite as good as the people who where combat specialized, I could certainly hold my own.

On a side note, both of the street samurai in the group also had decks. It was a secondary skill for both of them, but they made good backup.

Current MoG is 15 seconds of complete unkillability that you can get nearly 20% uptime on. I would skip IH before I skipped MoG, and I haven't even designed a build that skipped IH.
Most of the guides I could find on /regen were written prior to Issue 9 so that is the information I was going off of. It is also why I am asking questions. I know things have changed but there are not many current guides explaining why specific choices were made.
  8. Thank you.

    1. I am planning on using Ninja Run as my movement power. That will free up a power slot
    2. In the short term there is no way I can afford the +rec uniques you have slotted. Will I be crippled if I drop Stamina before I get them? I will lose .84 end / sec
    3. Without Health I will lose 8.95 hp / sec regen (just under 25% of my baseline)
    4. I was already considering moving my augments in follow up over to Focused Accuracy
    5. I was not really sure about MoG, I've read both good and bad about it. I'll take you advice on it.

I have been hoarding merits. Maybe I'll get lucky on my rolls once I hit 50 and get some of the more expensive IO like Numina's or the uniques.

I'll probably do my respec later today or tomorrow and gradually move from my current IO sets to the the ones you have listed as I aquire them. I want to hit 50 an see how my merit vendor rolls turn out.
  9. I am finally approaching level cap on my first character, my claws/regen scrapper. I know I've made a few mistakes in power choices as I've leveled up, and outgrown a few other powers that were useful when I took them.

I have been looking around for a while now for guides I can use for a respec to put my powers in order, but have yet to find anything really useful. I was looking for some advice on my build allowing me to maximize my resources.

For a start. I plan on dropping Manuevers, Tactics, Super Speed, and possibly Hurdle. I also plan on taking Combat Jumping and Shockwave. I have a fair amount already invested in IO sets, and will reuse much of what I have as I upgrade. I have around 50 mil to invest and plan on farming but know I cannot currently afford a fully purpled out build or most of the really nice uniques.

My goals are for solid PvE. I mostly have this, and am currently running at +0 +2 and would like to ramp up the difficulty. If anyone has some useful advice or ideas I would welcome them.

  10. Been awhile since I last tried Nosferatu. I just finished a mission arc that put me up against Nosferatu again. Things have changed drastically. Not only did I win, I never even used my Dull Pain or Instant Healing. (Claws/Regen scrapper).

I've never even had a Shivan or HVAS 8(
  11. Fusionette and Faultline got engaged

    Champions is even worse.

Since anyone can take any power, no one needs anyone else. Even when you get a group, no one bothers to work together.

    Probably too desensitized.

I have two daughters I play this game with. While I expect general chat to occasionally get rough, there are limits. If a characters name is something that you would go to an adult orientated store to watch, its probably not appropriate.

If it was spaced and capitalized in that manner, I would not have even blinked.

What they did was very blatent, and tossing in the extra letters in lower case to get past the filter does not make it alright.

I also reported my own post here, since it both has an offensive name and I named the offending character in a public post.

However, this doesn't mean I think they're the "worst mobs ever" - I think they're great. Let's just not pretnd that they're easy!
I just finished the Indigo arc.

Figured I give Carnival of Shadows a try since everyone was saying the bosses were evil.

I'm loving it and I'm picking up all the rare magic salvage I needed to work on my IO sets.

Except, two shots later, and I'm taking a dirt nap. Again.

I take it I should just forget about Nosferatu and drop the mission?

Yeah, yeah, I know, "Get a team!" Tried. Repeatedly.
Nosferatu is the only EB I have not managed to solo to date on my claws / regen scrapper.

I can usually last quite a while against him, but he always manages to heal himself.

Most importantly, it has one of the most impressive self-resurrect powers in the game, and to me that counts a lot. One of the key aspects of vampirism is that you can shoot them, you can cut them, you can crush them and you can essentially kill them as many times as you want. They won't die. True, Regen and Willpower do have their own self-resurrect powers, but they're uninspiring by comparison. Draining the life from the living and using that to return yourself to life is very much what seals the deal.
I did my vampire as a katana/dark scrapper and I have never regretted it.

The katana goes well with the Blade concept of a vampire and the dark armor has most of the other cool vampire powers, including assuming mist form.
  23. Targoth

    Worst Mobs Ever.

For sheer annoyance: anything with caltrops.

For threat value? The only time I ever really feal threatened is if I don't spot a Malta Sapper before I pull.

Oddly enough, the groups people are listing as most annoying have actually been my favorites. I practically leveled 15 - 25 on CoT and Tsoo and I've been running Mostly Malta missions the last few weeks.

I pretty sure I way overcompensated both accuracy and endurance regen on my claws / regen scrapper very early on. Even sappers are more of an annoyance than a threat unless I don't see them and they get several shots off. Even then, I can usually duck around a corner and have a full endurance bar before they catch up.

I have really no idea what triggered this fascination, all I know is that I read books about squids, watched tv shows about squids, dressed up as squids for halloween, and even had a four foot long plush giant squid that I slept with like a teddy bear.

Thankfully the (rather unhealthy in retrospect) obsession waned over time, and now squids are more like a subdued interest rather than a full blown obsession. Even so, my forum handle will attest that my inner six year old never quite left.

It should be pointed out that the type of people that are going to go to a fan fair are almost always long term hardcore players.

In other words, they got in early enough to get some really good names on established characters and have a vested interest in not having those names available to others.
