  1. Part of the problem is, frankly IMHO, villains need goals. As things are, you can be... a lackey of Arachnos, a lackey of Arachnos, or hey! you can be a lackey of Arachnos! And as you advance you can become a higher paid, more feared and respected... lackey of Arachnos. Hmm.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

    Hahahaha...

Actually Weapon Customization made the feature list AFTER I made the original "something you've been asking for" post, where I was referring to Flashback. (We had players in the CoH beta test asking for a way to go back and do the story arcs of the Contacts they skipped).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hey Posi.... are we going to see that funky warp they use on TV for flashbacks? If so I'm going to need some motion sickness pills.

And now.... the Scooby Doo ending!

Well I see the idea but I think it's just too' lazy of the Devs not explain why he can now hit you though PS.
I think a better fix would've been to just make him ignor anything that's PSed. PAs included. That would solve the tanking prob.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Personally, I've always felt that phased things should be able to hit phased things. Then they could add some phased out mitos to hami, ones who can only hit phased targets

I like this idea much better, personally.

Rap is ruining our children! That's not music and they shouldn't try and teach them that it is. *frowny face* [/quote/]

I am not a fan of Rap but i don't believe Rap is ruining ideas. sure some of it is basically themed the same way and most people would consider inaproppiate as would i. But the truth is people do not want to live up to their mistakes and take the blame themselves. balming other people for people's problems will always happen it is human nature we do not want to be wrong and or ridiculed for what we have done. But if you live up to mistakes you have made people are more likely to forgive you (depending on the circumstances). And generaly speaking most peoples actions are based on how they were raised and life experiences not VIRTUAL ones.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Rap in and of itself is not the problem; the glorification of demeaning/thug-like behavior that often occurs in some rap is a concern, however. The two should not be confused with one another. (Your mileage may vary!)

Heh. what we should do is put together a trailer villifying congress. Maybe pick a few scenes that dont make sense among all the scenes that might be in theme. Congress raises taxes, congress starts wars, congress has sex.

To bad we dont have tax dollars to distribute it.

You enter into an area that is labeled as Free For All. As in "You" can attack someone else at anytime given any situation. Those are the rules you are accepting upon entering that zone.

Being struck from behind with an Assassins strike, is neither griefing or cowardice. If I play a class called a Stalker, and my class plays out the best when I prey on the weak. It would prove advantageous for me to strike you when you are exhausted, or otherwise engaged. That's not anything other than smart tactics.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yup...War is hell, people. If you want it nice and fair when you enter a free for all zone you will be very disappointed. However, much like the Geneva conventions, there needs to be some limitations. Following through with the Convention simile, war is declared (entering a PvP zone), soldiers can move and attack other soldiers (heroes v. Villains or whatever), and the wounded are shuttled to safety (hospitals) unmolested. You don't attack the hospitals you attack soldiers in the field. Those who strike beyond those simple limitations should be treated as pariah, hunted down, and given savage justice. Booyah!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    /agree

We have things like the Articles of War and the Geneva Convention for a reason- and people who commit war crimes have a nasty tendancy to get caught (eventually). Both the Germans and Japanese found that out the hard way after WWII, along with a certain former Arab dictator we all know.

One reaps what one sows, after all.

I have been griefed in non-enforced ways on a number of occasions. Usually this is about someone lurking around and taking shots at my groups and then telling me to 'lighten up' after I politely ask them to stop after the 3rd time. I have considered broadcasting the player's Globalname, and explaining to the community at large about his unrepentant behavior, and letting them know that I will be Globally ignoring him and that like-minded people might do the same.

QUESTION: Would I be griefing HIM by doing this?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Any shmoe who wants to make trouble for someone could make up a sob story about being griefed, in order to grief someone by convicting them in the court of public opinion, irregardless of whether or not he/she actually did anything. That's the problem with these player-sponsored "ban lists"... they're not all that reliable.

    The Prisoner

Except it's a city instead of "The Villiage", and super hero/villians instead of spies. That would be an awesome environment, and the missions would be more like mysteries, real mind benders to figure out what's really happening....

Anyone else familiar with the old TV show "The Prisoner" ?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Does owning all 17 episodes count?

It could be cool, but it'd be hard to capture that 'feel' in a game more heavily oriented towards people in spandex beating on one another. Still, it's something to think about... I wouldn't be surprised if the skill system didn't usher in City of Spies as well (as they'd be a bit more skill/cunning oriented than power oriented- although there'd certainly be plenty of room for that). They'd make as much of their XP from skill usage and keeping out of sight than in-your-face combat; a showy James Bond-esque "famous spy" is usually very shortly a caught-and-killed spy.

One of the obvious moves is the City of Manga/City of Manhwa to appeal to CoH growing Asian audience, through NCSoft Distribution.

In particular, such a game/expansion would probably feature a high tech Korean or Japanese themed city with lots of martial arts powers, lots of robots, and perhaps a few powersets that cater directly to the magical girl types.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I couldn't see them doing that as that would turn away alot of current players. I hate anime. And contrary to popular belief, alot of comic collectors and gamers hate anime. Anime is a niche genre in the US. Much more so that comics or gaming.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Personally, I don't think this City of Manga thing is entirely off base... perhaps some expansion cities (one with a European flavor, one with an Asian bent)... now combine CoH/CoV Europe's population with new Chinese/Korean/Japanese servers and you have one heck of a world to work with...

I still contend that a defense bonus that only applies outside of combat is of no practical value.

I think a much simpler and more straightforward solution is to put the defense bonus at it's "suppressed" value, and leave it there. Much easier for everyone involved, and much less confusing to explain.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Seconded. Why have a defense that drops by half value at the only time when it'd be relevant to have it? The stealth suppression makes a limited amount of sense.

Side note, before I forget to mention it again: I see the suppression on movement powers to be a little immersion-breaking; I'd rather see some way of adding suppression to certain attacks- for example, Air Superiority- in order to "slap down" fast-moving jousters.

alright - now that was cool States. Now please someone acknowledge that Unstopp to blasters has the ability to alter the balance of the future of this game.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Umm, blasters cant get unstoppable till lvl 47. So your worried that the game mechanics from 47 to 50 will be ruined?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, that's right. PvP is coming. The level cap will eventually be raised beyond 50. Etc. Saying "it's only from 47-50" is very short-sighted. This has the potential to massively affect the future of the game.

  20. I'm hoping some sort of negotiation/persuasion skills will be in the Communications set, myself- get the bad guys to release the hostages, surrender, or perhaps even give up their ways altogether (depending on degree of success, probably). Interrogation (whether overt or covert) would be a plus.

And what's this "characters may pick ONE of these sets" thing? Academics and science would IMHO tend to overlap in some areas, as with some detective and communications skills. Will certain skills overlap between skill trees to some extent?

    Emote list?

I've noticed there are more emotes out there than those listed in the POC (point and click) interface, such as reading a newspaper... is there a list of all the /em's possible out there? Also, is there a place for suggestions for more?
