I never had real problems with EBs on any of my dominators at any level range, even back in i6.
[/ QUOTE ]Eating a handful of candy that anyone could eat does not actually address the weaknesses of the class. -
So what you're saying is that we're only allowed to play because Nemesis wants something to win at. Again. Wow, you guys are just pushing back the boundaries of masturbatory self-indulgence here. I don't even think the official Nemesis is actually that bad.

How do you know they didnt travel so far in the future where steam power has advanced and is beyond your current time knowledge?
[/ QUOTE ]Because if he'd done that he'd have won already. A person with a brain and time travel will win. Period. There really is no way to allow time travel in this environment that does not immediately and conclusively lead to a victory, which is why time travel is such a bad storytelling element to wield in a setting with science. -

Except Babs hasn't got a reputation for being retarded, and Geko does.

Thanks Corky.
[/ QUOTE ]What the hell are you talking about? -
The pedantry works out well, yes. The sky also tinges green when it's pregnant with hail. Not entirely sure why, but I've seen it twice in my lifetime. On the other hand, this demonstrates that when I use very simple analogy to explain something to people on this board, that speaking as if I'm speaking to children isn't quite simple enough.
I am pointing out the flaw in the argument that Lots of people have complained about Stone Armour on its most basic level. If ten people complained and had ten different complaints, their number offers no weight to their argument. If those ten people are bickering about issues of personal preference, then it's meaningless. If those people are trying to use the set to do things it's bad at then claim it underpowered, same thing.
Very simply, volume is no means to judge an argument. I will be repeating this post with hand puppets for those people who need it. -
Except Babs hasn't got a reputation for being retarded, and Geko does.

Any writer who will attach the title of 'excellent' to himself is either Ernest Hemingway or an idiot.
-
If anyone can solo AVs, the idea of them being team content is pretty meaningless.
The problem is when theoretically soloable content - the downpowered EBs - are functionally unsoloable. -
It could also be that Manticore is in fact, not a very good writer.

If our enemies are ridiculous and unbelievable, our characters become ridiculous and unbelievable, because our characters are forced to take the silly enemies seriously. This makes them look like idiots.
[/ QUOTE ]This is because the refuge of the mediocre is comedy. Truly great comedy is obscured by the torrents of [censored] that is unfortunately put in the exact same basket. -

So much for a polite discourse on the stone armor set and the possible merits, or lacking thereof, to possible changes to it. I find it disappointing that you've chosen to basically call everyone who thinks changes to the set might be a good thing "idiots", especially considering this comment you made over in the Dom forums:
[/ QUOTE ]Not at all. I am saying that the repetition of something does not change its validity. If a thousand idiots said that the sky is green over and over, the sky would not change colour to accommodate them, no matter how loudly they said it.
If you see a lot of complaints about Stone Armour, it might just be that a significant portion of the people making the complaints are clueless.

I'm betting those that were in power back when there was slavery, or no women's rights probally said the same thing.
Boy I'm glad they lost.
[/ QUOTE ]Totally false comparison, and to provide contrast, there's a rebellious uprising in the American south right now that wants to reinstate slavery. There's a movement in the middle east that things the whole world should follow their one religion and there's a church movement in the United States that genuinely believes they can baptise the dead into their church and in effect force people to follow their faith.
The fact is, sometimes, an outspoken group of people can be right, sometimes they can be wrong. Merely being outspoken on a subject neither proves nor disproves the case. And when the people profess something utterly retarded - like, say, the sky being green - it does not make the sky green for them merely because civil rights started as a similar outspoken movement.
-
And when you're a nobody who barely understands the game and barely understands game design, it's incredibly easy to say you'd do it 'right.'
-
The difference engine wasn't steam powered, it was set up with a crank. At least, the one I saw was, and I understood it to be a copy of Babbage's. It was also about as big as a damn room. Not super mobile.

An attitude against Energy Blast consists of the simple habit of people to assume they are dealing with a bad powerset rather than a bad player.

Frankly, I'm of the opinion that if you can imagine it, there's a way to do it, and that's served me pretty well so far.Sadly, a great many people these days have awfully stifled imaginations.
[/ QUOTE ]Bad attitude to have as a writer. "Oh, my readers are too stupid." -
*shrugs* I can't be both? There's a lot of play in the concepts of the high-level game. It's just never been realised. Instead, we get certain simplistic renditions run over and over and over again.
And quite frankly, if you don't have a reason to, why the world would you care about what Venture has to say about Nemesis? -
Plus it gives us yet more opportunities to ENJOY the WONDERFUL and WELL WRITTEN CHARACTERISATION of these AMAZING CHARACTERS!

I'd have made it right in the first place.

The entire opposite may be true, too. This is an argument where only the devs know who is really on the right side.
[/ QUOTE ]At least based on vox populi. On the other hand, there are many other useful grounds on which you can make arguments, which is why I advocate disregarding arguments from popularity. -

Redside is beter designed, but less developed.

You might remember that the Manticore autamaton references .txt files in his combat text. Nemesis might say he uses steam, but it looks like robotics to me.Oh hey, look, a continuity editor [censored] up. Thankfully, only a tiny sliver of the popularion give a damn, so they can write as badly as they like.
I'm happy to swallow the ridiculousness of steam tech, and even impossibly intricate nano-clockwork, because it's all a black box. I assume that Nemesis has somewhere found a system of phlogiston that gives the steam effect and has other valuable contributions. That's generally fine by me.
Time travel, on the other hand, exists to be handled badly. -

Oh god, the pain of indecision.
