Phantasm is still stupid though, sadly.
He doesn't even have any melee attacks or any aura like Singularity's repel aura.

Balance in gaming is based on player choice. The choice you make by taking (or not taking) Power Boost with Farsight is this: You either do it and specialize more heavily in defensively buffing your teammates, or, you don't, and instead you pick up more utility or damage (or both!) with your Epic power picks.
    1) It can't be balanced, between different ancillary pool powers, when the difference Power Boost makes is so HUGE.
Is it not huge? Then it would be balanced, but we all know it is huge or it wouldn't even be a topic of discussion.

    2) Yes, balance is where all choices look as equally valuable as possible(such as one power compared to its copy with a different visual effect but same numbers, that is absolute balance).
Power Boost + Farsight makes every other choice look "less valuable"(some would say "gimped" and "stupid") in comparison.
    That is the problem.

The fact that I have to "refuse to take Power Boost, despite its clear advantage" is an indication of the imbalanced performance of the combination.
  3. How can you use a laptop upside down?? o.O
  4. We have all seen the pets getting stuck after a loading screen when they are "automatically resummoned".

I noticed something different a while back.
My Demons/Time mastermind, right after Freedom launched, never saw stuck pets.
I forgot about this until just a little while ago, due to having moved away from playing masterminds for a while.

I noticed something odd about those Demons versus my other Robots mastermind.
The upgrade power icons, when they were resummoned, were stacking for the Robots.
It was as if the upgrade power was either being used multiple times after each zone load or the pets were carrying over the instance of the upgrade powers from every previous zone load.

I think fixing the upgrade buff stacking will solve the pet freeze after loading screen issue.

Also, it could very well be that, since Demons pet AI seems to work fine, the stacking upgrades are possibly causing the pets to have "too many copies of the granted powers to choose from" and thus favoring brawl(whether they can use it or not) when the AI has trouble picking a ranged power to use.

Anyway, at least the sticking bug can likely be solved.

    Edit:
Can a VIP please private message this thread to a developer, specifically somebody who will make sure it gets read by the right people and worked on?
  5. Your signature reminds me.

The pets locking up after a zone load bug is still there.
It actually didn't affect my Demons/Time mastermind after Freedom launched. I think Demons are the only ones that it didn't affect.

The only difference I can see is that Demons, at least for a time, didn't have stacking occur on the upgrade that were cast on pets after each loading screen.
It seems that once the upgrade icons on pet buffs should too high a number, in the double digits, they just lock up.

It could also partly be causing the AI problems if it "sort of" grants them multiple copies of the powers from the upgrade, maybe making it a lot harder for the pets to choose "which copy of this power do I use?".

Anyway, it would solve the stuck issue likely.

    Why waiting for Traps?

I do like Illusion's safety, while Gravity is mostly left to be vulnerable without confuse. Though I have been relatively safe with Gravity before as well.

I think the only thing for sure that is rough is the endurance cost of Superior Invisibility, especially if I will be running Time's Juncture.

It's still a tough choice. lol

    Edit:
It's probably a little easier to play Illusion/Time fully due to Illusion being less busy as a primary compared to Gravity, but I don't know.

  8. When did Singularity get a fix for "gotta melee" fever?
    I really want to know.

Which set do you rate higher, assuming SOs and without a secondary?
    Gravity or Illusion?

I'm probably going to make one of each, saving Radiation/Time for another time when I am more willing to play a more risky character, or can free a 3rd slot.
Electric just looks a bit too busy, odd to slot compared to everything else I have played and much too low damage even compared to Illusion that has no AoE.
Illusion does have the nice Spectral Terror to keep me safe and debuff to-hit.
Gravity just has the coolest looking powers(especially Propel), one of the best pets in Singularity, pretty good damage and an AoE immobilize at least.

I just wonder which is best between Illusion and Gravity because I have 2 name ideas and want the best name for the best set.

    1) Most games I have played rarely have any issues. The MMOs I play even rarely, or don't at all, crash(aside from the ones originally created by Cryptic) and usually have few issues, and all small, because they are smarter about running them.
City of Heroes is unbelievably bad compared to those other games and MMOs.(though Champions Online is much worse)

    2) Who is this "Murdoch"?
  10. I also prefer believability, immersion and open choices.
I'm also rather sick of the UI bloat and MUCH too many powers we have now. It's all a bit much for somebody who just wants to look cool while being super.
  11. I'm 99% sure that you can buy them from the vendor without confirming your alignment.
I believe the reason for the necessity of confirmation for the morality mission reward was because of a bug with that mechanic. The vendor avoids that mechanic.

You could always login on a character you know you have not confirmed alignment for and check to see if you are allowed to purchase without actually purchasing. It would be obvious that you could not if it were so.

DX isn't, it's a black-box. You take the feature set you're given and work around any limitations.

DirectX is a set of multimedia APIs that includes Direct3D, DirectSound, etc, etc. It's primarily oriented toward gaming.

Not sure who told you AMD was "focusing on OGL".
Pretty sure whoever it was lied.
    Consider me educated.

But, maybe the people who make the decisions on what to use for games need to be educated as well.

    Edit:
I wonder if OpenGL is more efficient for rendering than DirectX though? I think that would be the most important factor.

    Since when?

And sadly, I do not have the room for that many characters. I have room for 2 for sure, but have other characters that I do not want deleted filling the other slots.
Also, I think that is too many characters to play. I need to keep it down to 2 so I don't get tired of not being max level so fast, especially when I want to take my time to learn the set and enjoy some of the story in the game.
  14. I thought changed/deleted pieces were removed if you so much as opened the tailor window, whether you accepted the changes or not. I think that happened to a few of my oldest characters when I went through a deleting spree before I unsubscribed for Freedom.
  15. You need to enable geometry buffers in your graphics options. Your graphics card should have that function.
That will definitely help, maybe even solve the issue.
  16. Also, make sure the option "show only free costume pieces"(or whatever the little white check-box says) is unchecked because it may hide things you really do have access to.

Actually, OpenGL and DirectX do all the same jobs.
It would actually be like comparing a Swiss Army Knife to a multi-tool or another Swiss Army Knife.

Except, DirectX seems to do everything better and have slightly more tricks.

OpenGL just has the benefit of not being tied to one of the biggest super greedy corporations.

    Edit:
The sad fact is that OpenGL seems to get less support and new tricks developed for it by companies like Nvidia, and companies that supposedly focus on OpenGL are plagued by driver issues(AMD).
  19. Ok, I'm even less decided than I was at the start.

I've been looking at the numbers an graphics for all these sets.
It is just such a hard choice.

Radiation = fast damage, defense debuffs, not much to boost survivability but damage is fun
Illusion = really cool concept and look, slow damage really, no AoE, cautious confuser, kockback in pet is bad for Time
Electric = built to mix it up in melee, good AoEs but low damage, less endurance issues
Gravity = really cool concept and look, good damage, knockback is bad for Time, repel in the melee prone Singularity isn't good for time, Propel is one of the coolest powers ever

They all have their advantages but all have disadvantages too. It's so hard to choose.
  20. Odd. o.O

I noticed a weird bug myself this morning when at the tailor. I was rotating the character and it stopped rotating but played the sound still. I backed up to the body type screen and then back in and could rotate but the hairstyle I was playing with was stuck to the head so I could have two hairpieces on at once. I backed all the way out and fixed it. It never happened since.

Maybe the server just a "Colonel Sanders from The Waterboy hit by a baseball"(the noise he made makes me giggle every time) moment.
  21. It definitely sounds to me like he gets stuck in a "petcom_phantasm defensive stay" mode where he would rather stay where he was spawned, like Spectral Terror, and not attack anybody outside the "defense range" of where he was spawned.

Here is a test to try. Summon him far from a spawn and lure the spawn in and see if he attacks. Also, try luring the next spawn back to where you summoned him. This may or may not be tough to do if he doesn't attack but still draws aggro.

Oh yeah, this is a bug, but I'm just trying to think of ways to figure out what is going wrong to make it easier to fix it.

    Edit:
It is probably a bug with the Circle of thorns enemies though, and I have no idea how they could be preventing him from attacking, especially only on groups after the first group.

I'm serious. I give this game 2 years, maximum, before it is broken in so many ways that it becomes practically unplayable for most people, or at least well on its way to that.
It will be missed, when that sad day comes, if they do not do what is necessary to avoid it.
  23. I was just saying their could be a bug with alignment changes and the SSA stuff because somebody reported one on the forums.

I refuse to pay for the license on principle, especially as I would be stuck paying $2 every month forever and ever and ever....("This is the song that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friends...." )

SOs and HOs are less of headache as well.
Illusion is pretty good too. I just find it a more cautious set than Time Manipulation seems to encourage.(meaning less likely to dive into a huge group)

And Phants Decoy doesn't do knockback, unless that's changed recently, only Phantasm himself does.

Electrical Control is a nice set, but it's a low damage one. Jolting Chain does poor enough damage, it's a soft control power primarily.
I forgot that Spectral Terror debuffed to-hit. I think the decoy uses the same attacks as Phantasm, but I'm not sure or sure if they do knockback.
It's still low AoE damage compared to even other low AoE damage sets, and low single target I believe.

At least Jolting Chain has a quick recharge, but I wonder how it really is in practice. It looks like it will really add up, depending on how many jumps it does and if it can hit the same target multiple times.
The Gremlins also get Jolting Chains, and the Electric Control set really seems like a safe one for AoE madness.

How would you rate Electric Control compared to Gravity?
