Phantasm doesn't attack COT?

OK, this is... weird.

Figured I'd bring my (admittedly rarely played) Ill/Sonic into New DA. (And apparently Ephrem Sha or whatever his name is doesn't show up unless you go through the "ooh, look, weird apartment" bit.)

Went street sweeping. PA, Phantasm, etc. And ran across something odd.

Find a group of COT and *whatever.* First group, summon PA, summon Phantasm, summon spectral - the usual. Everything's both hunky and dory. Swing over to another group with COT and... the Phantasm won't attack them. At all. Even when IT'S attacked. Its decoy will, PA's just fine smacking whatever's around, but Phantasm... nope, one group of COT is its limit, and it's not attacking more (unless resummoned.)

Other groups don't have this problem - COT/Knives? Dead knives. COT/BP? Dead BP... just no dead COT via Phant. unless I resummon it.

Haven't tried non-DA COT. Needless to say this *could* be an issue. Did I miss a bug mention somewhere about this?

I did notice a couple weeks back that my Phantasm really had a hard time attacking additional spawns until I literally dragged him through the center of the group.

Maybe it some sort of "evasion bug" where he thinks "I am no longer close enough to my spawn location so I must run back and not attack" but he is kept close to the player due to the "I must follow my master" part of the code.

I do not know why it is apparently limited to one enemy group though.


Maybe, did the CoT use any knockback powers like the pulsing volcano thing? Tremor(?)?
The Phantasm flies so maybe it's taking its time due to the "can't attack" part of knockback being perfectly timed to interrupt his ability to attack.

I don't know.

I don't think it's that. The spawns I ran through mostly had (on COT side - and I let him sit there and be attacked well past any KB from anything else) the Ice mages and Behemoths. I managed to position him *right* in front of a Behemoth - just hovered there as he got pelted with fireballs.

Heck, I did this after he'd been attacked to give him plenty of time to do... *something.*



He'd been attacked, I held the Behemoth. Nothing else going on - he just floats there. If he has any reason not to attack in that setup, I don't know what it is. (But again - resummon him and he will attack... one group.)

It definitely sounds to me like he gets stuck in a "petcom_phantasm defensive stay" mode where he would rather stay where he was spawned, like Spectral Terror, and not attack anybody outside the "defense range" of where he was spawned.

Here is a test to try. Summon him far from a spawn and lure the spawn in and see if he attacks. Also, try luring the next spawn back to where you summoned him. This may or may not be tough to do if he doesn't attack but still draws aggro.


Oh yeah, this is a bug, but I'm just trying to think of ways to figure out what is going wrong to make it easier to fix it.


Edit:
It is probably a bug with the Circle of thorns enemies though, and I have no idea how they could be preventing him from attacking, especially only on groups after the first group.

OK, I'm going to chalk it up to "Something was *really* weird this morning,* since it's working normally now. (He was, by the way, following me into range just fine. Enemies were attacking him, the whole works this morning. And it happened reproducibly - let him get killed, spawned a new one, it would attack one COT spawn but none after that.)

Odd. o.O

I noticed a weird bug myself this morning when at the tailor. I was rotating the character and it stopped rotating but played the sound still. I backed up to the body type screen and then back in and could rotate but the hairstyle I was playing with was stuck to the head so I could have two hairpieces on at once. I backed all the way out and fixed it. It never happened since.

Maybe the server just a "Colonel Sanders from The Waterboy hit by a baseball"(the noise he made makes me giggle every time) moment.
