  1. Actually it seems to me like triform is more suited for soloing, and human/biform is more fitted for teaming. A kheld benefits mostly from his/her team in humanform, so the more time u spend in humanform the more you benefit from your team.

I just dinged 24 so I've been happily tri-forming for a while now, and hardly changed the above build (the order in which I took my enhancement slots is totally different tho). I love the char, but spent by far the most time in novaform. 6 slotted nova detonation&scatter can wipe out entire spawns on 8 mans teams in mere seconds

I use humanform for my selfbuffs mostly, and sometimes a nice melee attack. I use dwarf when I need to hide from my aggro, or when the team needs a tank right then and right there. But I try to be in Nova form most of the time

    Norris McWhirter

I started playing at US release of CoH, which is like a year before EU release I think?
My main hit 50 in about May I think. That's over 2 years of playing till I hit 50. And my buddy hit it even 1 or 2 weeks after me. Undoubtedly we don't win, but at least we beat you! :P

[EDIT] Oh and grats on your first 50! :P
  3. I never played a katana build, but I'm pretty sure that it goes just fine with SR. Katana's version of Parry should stack nicely with SR, and end shouldnt be too big of a problem later in the game.
Regen will have better end, but then regen always does.

For PvP? Not sure. I'm not much of a PvPer. For PvE? Regen matures a lot quicker then SR, that's for sure. But by the later lvls, my SR felt much tougher then the Regens I teamed with. I rarely died before a regen did, and it happened more then once that I kept going when my regen teammates (and even the team's tank) had died. Regen may be off to a better start, but IMO SR is more powerfull in the end.

The thing is, it's a matter of opinion, and both are amazingly good powersets. You can't go wrong either way.
  4. Sorry to see you go Kinslayer. We havent done a lot of playing together, and on these forums we've certainly had our disagreements, but at the end of the day I've had nothing but respect for you. Your PvP workshops were awesome. I rarely enjoyed PvP (I always sucked at it), but those PvP workshops actually made me feel like I was semi-decent. Even if I wasn't, they still gave me a lot of good fun, and that's what it's all about in the first place.
Hope to run into you again!

    New hero coming

I agree that outside of the character concept, MA and SR dont have much synergy. I actually also went for MA/SR because I am a big Matrix fan and never looked back. You'll be doing great damage, and dragons tail kick is an excellent way of avoiding damage as well. True, you dont get any defense buffs/acc debuffs like from kat/BS/DM, but I can guarantee you that MA/SR is a great way to play
  6. Oh I agree, that's why my SR is a 50 and my regen a 19. But nonetheless, in the early days, Regen was way overpowered and SR way underpowered. Regen got nerfed, SR got buffed, they're about equal now
  7. Well, considering it was the most overpowered secondary in the game to start with, that's not such a strange thing.
  8. Point taken. I do actually plan to do some decent damage in Dwarf form (I like scrappers better then tankers, on teams too, therefore I want my dwarf to have some firepower. I realise he wont match scrappers, but at least those damage slots will help :P). But I'll make sure to give them a low priority, you make a good point. Not much changed here, but this is my current lvl 43 build:

Put acc in the human attacks that need it (could also replace the glinting eye dmg slot for an acc one), and been a little more sparing on the form. Not much change, but my human attacks shouldnt miss annoyingly much now. Thx for the tips, I wasnt sure how the forms would do unslotted, it's good to hear they don't need too many slots

    Any thoughts?
  10. Hey guys,

like I'm sure every person that has a 50 has felt at some point: I've got alt-fever right now

I've rolled a Warshade in the past, but just didnt really get a good feel for it. I personally didn't like the look of the powers, and the feel either. I LOVE the look of PB powers, but am not sure how I'll feel about it. Time to find out

The question that bothers me however, is what would suit me better: tri-, bi- or humanform.
I wanna say triform, because all the shapeshifting is very cool, but a few minutes in hero planner will easily teach you that you'll get in trouble with enhancement slots. And I've seen some humanform PBs that are downright lethal.

So I was hoping for some general opinions from experienced PBs: during your lvling, what did you think lead to the best results?
    Any comments are very welcome

  11. I've only played an MA/SR and MA/* is (I think) far less end-heavy then BS/*, but in the late game I was not having end problems at all. By the time you run into end-draining mobs you have elude. If you ever get in trouble with end while fighting (for example) malta, hit elude and you'll be unstoppable for the duration

That and, IMO, in the later lvls */SR gives better survivability then /Regen. My MA/SR has outtanked tankers ;-) (although dragon's tail helps a LOT)

  12. Hey guys,

I'm considering picking up my old DM/FA brute, but it's currently in an awful build, so I wanna run it through a respec first. It's currently lvl 32, so keep that in mind when looking through this:

There's some things I'm wondering about:
I decided not to slot my shields (fire, plasma, tough) for endurance reduction. Since I have stamina and dark recovery (3-slotted for recharge) I don't think it will be too big of a deal, but perhaps some disagree?

My Siphon Life slotting is totally different from what I used before. IMO, it was costing too much end and doing too little healing, as well as recharging too slowly. I don't think it's a very effective selfheal. With this slotting, the end cost isnt too bad, it recharges fast enough to be part of my chain, and the damage is ok. The heal-self portion is just a small bonus to the power now. What do others think of this slotting?

And I realise I didn't take my build past 42, but I simply don't know how to go on from there. On top of that, I have a version of hero builder that has no patron powers in it. Can anybody help me find one that does have these?

    Thanks for the help!

    The 50s thread

Let's just keep this a friendly place, no need for such talk.

What I'm wondering is, when did the Americans get their first 50?
  14. T0ughGuy690_EU

    The 50s thread

    Dude...HOW? lol
Did you seriously solo from 40-50? I'd be very interested to know as to how many bars of xp per hour you did on average?
  15. T0ughGuy690_EU

    The 50s thread

    I didn't say it's a standard schedule, it's just the way I survive my exam periods :P
And I know I'm in the minority, just pointing out that some studies DO require a lot of work
  16. T0ughGuy690_EU

    The 50s thread

*cough* this student has an exam period and will be studying about 6-10 hours a day the coming month. You think that's gonna help me ding 50?
Not every study is that easy you know :P
  17. Well as I've said I'm certainly interested in joining this team either with my energy/kin or ice/thermal corr, and I'm also lvling an EM/Dark brute atm. (both the latter 2 still need lvls, but whichever the team needs more, I'll focus on)

Unfortunately I can't make it tonight. I'll be honest and say that I have a fairly active social life, so I can't promise I can be there every week (as you've noticed in the past). This would be something to consider when creating such a team.
Hope you guys have a good evening and let me know!
  18. Welcome Blind_Strike

The best place to find a supergroup would be the SuperVillain Group Recruitment Corner. Most of the major groups have a description here. As you can tell by my signature, I'm one of the co-leaders of the Violators group, so I wont pretend to be objective :P
    Join us or...don't!
(I gotta work on my villainish sound of doom)
  19. As luck would have it, teaming was so poor last night on my corr I needed to vent and rolled a brute lol. I retract my earlier statement that I dont like soloing...SOMETIMES soloing is nice :P
I'm not sure how fast this toon will lvl yet, regarding upcoming exams and my corr which I also want to lvl (and I7 giving Kos another 10 lvls I want :P), but basically, yeah I'd be interested to play brute. I'm not very interested to lvl my Dark/Fire tho (lvl 32 now)...I don't like him lol.
  20. *kosmos quickly raises his hand*
The only issue is Kosmos is a corr and so is Exo. I have an alt that's lvling quite quickly now, but he is...also a corr
I have to add tho, that he's Ice/Thermal, which is IMO a far better PvP combo then Kosmos ever will be.
If there's room for a corr I'd be very happy to sign either of these up. I do have a EM/DA brute planned at some point, but that's distant :P
  21. putting a def in CJ is pointless IMO, cause like the end cost, the defbuff is too small to notice. Put a jump enhancement in for extra maneuverability I say (people underestimate the ability to move around quickly in a fight)
  22. I think both SJ and SS work fine. Combat Jumping is probably the least endusing toggle in the game, and running it wont be noticed on your end bar.
Hasten is nice tho, which is a reason to go SS. I went SJ tho.
MA/SRs can solo with ease. At higher lvls I could easily solo invincible/relentless missions without ever getting into trouble. The end can be a bit of a nuisance, especially before you get stamina and your SOs, but IMO soloing is no problem at all.
  23. My /thermal currently buffs with shields, and spends the rest of his time healing. This can often be a fulltime occupation, both considering time and endurance. I will buff with forge and debuff as well later on, but I have no doubt I'll spend a great deal of my time healing.
    Am I not a healer/buffer?
My point is, while a thermal could easily avoid being a healer, he certainly CAN be one (and be usefull in that way too). Personally I believe a healer oriented /thermal is an incredibly usefull addition to a team.
  24. I think the sound tweak was recognised as a bug by a redname on the US boards earlier.
And yeah, Transference is getting a major buff in I7
  25. I agree there. I think the Corruptor is the most versatile AT in the game. I play my Energy/Kin as a damage dealer mostly, but I buff the team with SB at the same time, and I heal when needed too.
On the other hand, I play my Ice/Thermal as support. I shield and heal, and later on I'll be doing debuffing too. I mostly attack with my hold, and if I do use a "normal" attack, it's only because I'm bored cause the team just WONT GET HURT! :P
