Well, if it helps explain some of the power choices, I tend to find myself doing some "light" scrapping; especially in Kill All missions.
Stand behind the one I intend to use AS on, use inspirations - if needed - activate the right toggles, click hasten, power boost then AS the first guy, before laying waste to the others.
It's a tactic that's seen me right through my Stalker's career, with only one faceplant; and that came about because I didn't realise the Facemaker would chuck out a hold as soon as I aggroed her.
I've managed to solo everything so far as well; about five Elite Bosses in total, and plenty of Kill All missions.
I've heard this approach becomes nigh-on impossible later, however. -
Dude, you've got a hot voice.
That was great, though! Brilliant execution, and an incredibly original idea. -
I've gone through somewhat of an AT testing frenzy lately, and now my sights have rested upon the glorious Stalker. I've gone Energy/Energy, both for theme and after hearing how effective it is in PvE. I'm currently level 9, and I've put together a little build:

I don't intend to PvP all that much - although I'll end up dipping into it every so often - and so I'm mainly focused on PvE. The build's doing great so far; today alone I've soloed about four Elite Bosses and their guards (Obviously the EBs weren't all in the same place), and I'm genuinely enjoying the Stalker.
Just wondering if this build will allow me to continue enjoying her. -
If your build's anything like mine, you're looking at around 150% resistance to smashing and lethal, with 100% to everything else that isn't psionic.
I'd say that alone was enough to warrant the crash; the length of time Unstoppable lasts means you'll get some serious [censored] kicking in before it crashes on you. -
Ok, tweaked things.

Quite happy with that, I think. Opinions? -
[ QUOTE ]
Personally, I'd certainly rework it to include Invincibility and drop acrobatics. Invincibility is, in my book, very much a wading in and giving stuff a good slapping type of power, indeed, really that's where it excels.
[/ QUOTE ]
Won't Acrobatics stop me getting knocked around like a pinball in Longbow missions and the like, though?
As for Invincibility not "fitting"....well, it's probably just me, but my image of a Brute was getting shot in the face but still coming at you; like some scary Tyrant thing with fists bigger than your skull. Nimbly dodging and weaving doesn't really suit that image to me, hehe.
[ QUOTE ]
I'll also give my standard advice of swaping swift for hurdle, as bouncing around missions with hurdle and combat jump (I go for just a single jump enhance in both) is a lot faster than running. Also it is rather more fun.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, ok. Thought Swift might help me get between groups faster. Gonna be hitting level 12 tonight, so Hurdle it is. -
I don't know about you guys, but I find it somewhat insulting the ultimate mob in this game has the name "Caleb".
"So, pray tell, what might beast did you slay this day? The Slayer of Worlds? The Smiter of Souls? The Devourer of Flesh?"
"....his name was Caleb." -
Alrightey, I recently re-rolled my SS/Fire Brute to SS/Inv, and am absolutely loving her (Defining moment: Splatting Sea Witch in one hit with Knockout Blow), and given how she just wades in and starts hitting things, I don't think many of the +DEF powers would really "feel" right.
So my question....is it madness to avoid getting Invincibility? The current build I have:

So far I'm level 11.
Just wondering if I can get by without Invincibility, but still retain the "rawr, me tough" feel. -
Unfortunately, Roleplay in CoV is a little scarce on the ground; it just hasn't really had time to establish itself that well. A few people have tried to initiate something, but haven't had much luck. For any consistant Roleplay, you're best off trying to find a Supergroup you get on with, or - alternatively - try to arrange something over the "Union Roleplay CoV" global chat channel.
As for your second question....well, in my experience a lot - if not all - people have played along to a certain extent. While you'll always get people that don't Roleplay - and, to be quite frank, nobody's in any position to demand they do so in the first place - I've yet to see any outright hostilities from them, and some even try to get involved themselves.
At the moment, I wouldn't advise you to devote too much energy to trying find Roleplay. Give it some time, build up a network of friends, and go from there. -
Gah, sorry Noir; I'm going to have to drop out. Came down with something pretty nasty last night, so I don't really have the focus for Strikeforces.
I'll be happy to join with future teams, though. -
Thanks for the advice, guys. I've switched Swift for Hurdle, but that's the only major change I've made. Don't think I can really get much more performance out of it, heh.
I was originally going to be SS/Dark (I'd have something ridiculous like 60% resist against psionic alone with that), but fire just....lured me, I suppose. -
Well, after witnessing how quickly my new Brute has been trouncing everyone that looks at her funny, I think I've finally found new purpose in life.
It's certainly quite a rush after playing a Mastermind; no longer the woman stood behind everyone else, you're the utter psycho that leaps in and starts cracking skulls, oblivious to anyone's safety except - perhaps - for your own.
As a result, I've put together a little build I hope to have as time goes on:
---------------------------------------------
Exported from Ver: 1.7.5.0 of the CoH_CoV Character Builder

I'm not looking to be perfect, and this character will be primarily participating in PvE, but any massive, glaring issues that you can see will be sorted. o.o -
I'd be happy to do this; I've only done the second Strikeforce so far, but that was back when it was bugged.
Eressos, level 38 Mercenaries/Trap Mastermind. -
I'd heartily reccomend Mercenaries to any first timer.
They've very much "point and shoot", especially at higher levels when they're all toting Full Auto; it's just utterly ridiculous how much lead they spew out.
Gets a bit dull at times - and after a while the gun noises kind blot out everything else - but they're fun, and simple to manage. -
Well, it's a PvE build, yes.
Doesn't look as if I'd enjoy it as much as I thought. Ah well. o_O -
Ok, any help with this build would be appreciated; I've never played a Corrupter in any serious way before, so I'm a little naive when it comes to slots and the like.
Thanks in advance.

Oh i see, ok that helps and explains it, so you don't actually have to have said amount of infamy in your possession to earn the badge? So like i could spend the 10million on well needed SO's and when i've earnt enough inf from running missions and/or killing stuff i'd still get the badge?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah.
It's Infamy that you've earned, not held, which counts towards the total (So if you killed enough enemies to earn one million, you'd get a badge, but if someone gave you one million you wouldn't get the badge). -
1 million, 10 million and 50 million I believe.
And yes; they're earned from Infamy that you get from mobs, not from selling enhancements or through trade. I currently have Bling and Mr.Big.
Unsure what the third level badge is. -
Alrightey, I'll just grind up to 100k prestige and go from there.
At the moment, I just want to be capable of fiddling with something I call my own. I have well in excess of five million Infamy, so the Infamy hit won't really bother me that much (Especially seeing as you still get enhancements while in SG mode).
Thanks for the advice, guys. -
Ok, I've been tossing around this idea for a bit, but a recent need to just kick back and slow down has made me want to put this into plan.
Let's say I just wanted to mess around and make a pretty looking room or two; none of the mod cons such as teleporters and revolving gatlin cannons, but a little something to just mess about in.
Now let's say I'd be the only one getting the Prestige together.
If it's even feasible - unlikely, but I hope - would it be better for me to farm Prestige with a level 38 Mastermind, or start an alt and run her in SG mode constantly?
Just a random little thing I've been thinking about, as I said, so it's not something that's incredibly important. -
[ QUOTE ]
Not sure this is roleplaying "American style". I was on CoH when it came out in the States and their unofficial RP servers were much better than our unofficial European ones.
[/ QUOTE ]
Have to disagree with you there. I played on Virtue for quite a while, and the American RP community always seemed to come across as very elitist to me; they'd Roleplay things out in the open, but act very surprised when you tried and join in and would seemingly block out "outsiders".
While there were good people there, I can't say the Roleplay community as a whole was overly welcoming.
[ QUOTE ]
Alot more people on who were Rpers and far more events and cross team RP activity.
And I played at times when the server had a low population.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's a great deal more people on the American servers, so of course you're bound to find more people who Roleplay. -
I have to say, this build works beautifully and I'd heartily reccomend it to anyone. o.o
While I'm not hitting everything all the time, the sheer effectiveness of the squad is incredible. The Acid Mortar more than makes up for the loss of Accuracy SOs against Bosses (In retrospect, AM only underperformed BECAUSE I was jacked up with SOs), Triage Beacon is....well, Triage Beacon and Aid Other is a damn sight more useful than I thought it'd be (Healing around 400 HP a pop).
In addition, the new arrangment of slots means my Spec-Ops can keep an entire group locked down as I move in with the mines, and the other squad members open fire. It's wonderful.
[sniff]
Just hit 38, so haven't had a chance to really test out Serum, but I'll probably be singing it's praises soon enough. -
That went incredibly smoothly.
Destroyed the tree first time, no deaths.
Sadly, the moment was kind of dulled by the realisation Grim Rainbow wouldn't recieve a respec. -
And I'm done.

Couldn't bring myself to ditch Seeker Drones, no matter how much I tried.
I was originally going to add the two damage SOs to Spec-Ops, but then I realised: If they're tossing out tear gas and flash bangs like there's no tommorow, why not fully slot out those capabilities? As a result, I've enhanced their hold and ToHit Debuffs above everything else.
