  1. Seems I've got my Build down in every area EXCEPT regarding Stealth. I most likely won't be hitting the PvP zones, but will battle people in the Arena now and then, should I just drop Spirit Shark Jaws/Blinding Powder for maximum Stealth? Actually, my question should be...Is capped Stealth necessary in the Arena, specially when everyone knows to keep moving to avoid AS?
  2. Just at level 6 with my Staff Fighter. I actually like it a lot, but the AS sound FX really needs improvement. It sounds seriously weak, and the damage delay is messed up.

  4. The Tsoo in DA look awesmazing! I know having the choice to have body art like that would make Auras useless, but how about having the choice to have body auras radiate through the tattoos? I envy those damn Sorcerers everytime I see them with those auras, I want them too!

About the only time I feel my Ice Armor is somewhat weaker is in DA. Those new mobs have a lot of elemental damage type that my S/L isn't good enough. It doesn't mean I drop dead in 5s. However, something tells me those new mobs are just good against most armor type. There are a lot of "auto damage" and kill my MM's pets left and right (earth quake and huge lightning blasts). Ice Armor is really good against the Ice bosses (those huge ice giants). Have you fought those new mobs in DA at +4? I don't do DA under +4. It's boring.

Ice Armor is really good in every other area. In fact, I would rate Ice Armor the best as long as there's no psionic attacks. You've got debuffs, buffs, endurance management, defense, some resist and +hp. What more do you need? Icy Bastion itself is a god mode + ultra fast regen + superb +recovery and it doesn't crash!

The question is about Willpower VS Elec Armor. I'll stick to that topic.

PS: I am probably the biggest advocate of Ice Armor here. I've been talking about it for a while now. Ice Armor is REALLY good. Please believe me.

PS 2: I can also tell you that I like Ice Armor better than Willpower and mostly because Ice Armor has slow debuff and endurance management. Willpower doesn't have that extra +recovery power and with the new stalker change, I do run low on endurance on my MA/Will. With ice armor, I never run low. You've got two ways to gain back endurance easily. Willpower's mini-god takes away 50% endurance when it crashes. Icy Bastion doesn't.
Oh, thank god. Scared me there, and I guess I wouldn't have re-rolled anyway. Three Ninjitsu Stalkers is crossing the line a bit, so yeah...I'll keep going with my Staff/Ice fighter and see how strong he gets.

Sadly, can't show him off because I decided to get into Praetoria...

I see. Perfect, I think I've gotten my build down now. Thanks alot for taking the time to help me out! Really appreciate it!

    This.

But always remember to pick your fights when you start off, because you will still die if you're not careful. Priorities go from Bosses > Annoying Lieutenants (Gunslingers) > Annoying Minions (Sappers, Mu, Any Healers). But once you get your IOs and the Stalker's Guile ATO set, criticals are at your command. Once you hit the higher levels, we can basically scrap as good as Scrappers, alpha striking bosses down in an instant, smacking everyone around, and ASing every few seconds. And yeah, skip Placate. There's really no need for it.

I'd recommend Ninjitsu for defense, because Kuji-In Retsu is basically mocking everyone as they fail to hit you....for three minutes. Then you run for your life.

I have an incarnte MA/Will but don't have a high level Elec Stalker yet. My guess is Elec does a bit better with very good set bonuses and I only say this because Elec has endurance management and it has a good mix of resistance types. It covers almost everything.

Other people can feel free to chime in. I think both can be good. They are not "gimped" for sure.
Whoa, what? Ice Armor doesn't do well in end-game content? I knew it!

    RE-ROLL!

Lonely? Hah! No such thing when you're the star of the show, landing criticals here and there and watch things just drop! It's funny how Scrappers can do crits, yet we have the same base chances, but we land ours more frequently.

But teams are fun....For when I want their jaws to drop as I single-shot minions into oblivion (KM's AS is really, REALLY fast).

  11. Guess I can look past the UGLINESS and just enjoy it. Gotta say, Staff Fighting is amazing! Love it, though the AS sound FX is pretty weak. Sounds like I'm just poking someone gently with it.

One question....Was it a mistake to start him in Praetoria?
  12. While we're on the discussion on hair, why not add some proper masks in the game for males? I would love having a character wearing a mask similar to the Carnival of Light and such, instead of what's currently offered.
  13. Just bought Staff Fighting from the Market, and currently still hesitant about which secondary to use for my Stalker. I've played two Stalkers with Ninjitsu and love it, but the talk about Ice Armor has gotten me interested.

So the question is....Is Ice Armor THAT good compared to Ninjitsu?

(Ugly set, ugly set, ugly set....)

The levels of IOs does not make a huge difference IMO. A well built character is a well built character whether using lvl 35 IOs or lvl 50. In the end when slotting IO sets, the differences become fractions and are often small enough that they are not noticeable. It's the stacking set bonuses from the IO sets that count more.

Patron Powers is a preference. Some players use it because they like the powers/fit a concept, some use them as a mule to hold IO sets, some pick them because they need them. If the PP you picked isn't really categorized in any of the above, change them out or slot them less. You can easily take the Fighting Pool with those 3 PP picks and get yourself that much closer to softcap def.

Download Mids' onto a flash drive and bring it to school, work, friend's place and install it on a computer there. If anyone asks what you're doing, say, "Statesman is dead and I'm trying to save the world. Leave me alone!"
It makes sense now. I don't use the PP powers that often, only in situations or against Elite Bosses. Last question...Should I take the Tough/Weave path, do I need to give slots to Tough?

It's basically players cannot have more than 5 of one type of set bonus in their build. If we do, the 6th set bonus is null/void and does nothing for our build. For example if I slotted 5 full Mako's Bite sets and one full Numina's set, I would have six +3.75% ranged defense bonuses. My total ranged bonus would be 18.75%, not 22.5%.

Checkout the following links to find out what IO sets give bonuses to positional defense:

    http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Category..._Melee_Defense
    http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Category...Ranged_Defense
    http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Catego...Effect_Defense

To get softcap 45% defense, you will need a combination of powers (Ninja Reflexes, Danger Sense, Weave, Combat Jump, Stealth and Maneuvers), IO set bonuses and unique IOs (Steadfast Protection, Gladiator's Armor). There's also Nerve and Agility Alphas that increases def if you are playing incarnate material.

Try googling "City of Heroes Ninjitsu softcap build," and I am sure a whole bunch will pop up. Try to find one that lists the power picks/slotting as well as the datachunk.
Alright, I've slotted Touch of Fear into two attacks and put Mako's Bite into CS. I just want to know, do all the damage sets offer the same increases in accuracy and damage, etc? And does level make a huge difference?

With defense taken care of, I'm not sure about the slots for my Patron powers. Seems like there isn't enough for them. Do Patron powers need more than 2 slots? If not, then I'll just focus more on others.

You've been a big help so far, thank you so much!

On your build, when Hide and Stealth are suppressed, you have 36% melee, 44.8% range and 31% AoE defenses. Melee and AoE are pretty low, Ninjitsu can reach 45% softcap defense fairly easily with some effort and influence. Or is that your intent and planning to use Kuji-in Retsu often?

Kuji-in Retsu while active provides you 45% defense already without any slots. Add that onto your current def totals, you are well above 70% in m/r/a. I would just slot it for recharge.

I am not sure how experienced you are with CoH combat mechanics but maybe this page by Dechs Kaison will help. It discusses and explains the importance of softcap defense: http://dechskaison.blogspot.ca/2011/...important.html

You are above the Rule of 5 for 3% damage.

As for the Patron Pools, it's pretty much personal choice or to try to fix something a build may be lacking such as endurance, AoE/ranged attacks, holds, pets etc.

If you ever get Mids' going, here is your build:

Thank you so much for the tips. So how will I be able to softcap my defense? Do I need to drop Burnout and take Tough and Weave instead? Not sure of any other methods...

Dropped the defense in Kuji-In Retsu and added recharge instead, and planned to slot the LotG recharge in Hide, along with one for defense to get the regen bonus.

What is the Rule of 5? I don't follow, is it having too many attacks 6-slotted?
  17. More choices for male characters as well! I have never seen those damn brain-exposure styles as anything a modern Villain or hero would ever don.

More anime-esque hairstyles for men and women, please!
  18. Discovered what was wrong. Somehow, KM just looked more subtle on the misses because of the FX, while StJ didn't. I was just crazy.
  19. I'm with that idea as well, make it more subtle! Hoarfrost looks great, and I think I've posted it somewhere else, but what if the armor, instead of blocks of ice around your body, had somewhat of a similar concept to the Victorian Decor aura, with a little bit of the Cryogenic aura instead?

I can drop the PvP only idea, but please, make the Ice Armor more....subtle or elegant. It's just too hideous right now.

Everytime I see a CoT Ice Caster getting his ice armor up, I place a hold on him and just look at him....

...and wonder what made him decide to have that on.
  20. Okay, so I played yesterday leaving NR off, and my god, you guys weren't kidding! I've been wondering how I keep losing endurance in the past, and with NR turned off, my endurance is perfectly stable. Haven't popped any blue insps during fights yesterday, and CJ is great!

Now then, it seems the issue is not with NR being toggled with CJ on, but also cause NR eats endurance as much as Super Speed. I think the endurance cost should be reduced to around .2/sec instead of .46. After all, the description says that it's not as fast as Super Speed, so why should it eat the same amount of endurance? Plus, it costs 500 PP, shouldn't it be easy on the endurance?

So yes, CJ+NR and reduce Endcost of NR to .2 or less. I like Ninja Run's stance, it fits Stalkers nicely.
  21. Hey guys, I don't have nor have the knowledge of how to use the Mids Designer, and using a Mac, so I'm going to post it all here. Hope to hear from you guys where it needs fixing and such.

    Questions:

I was planning to slot CS with Hecatomb, but I have a feeling I won't be able to get it financially. Is there any other set I could slot it with?

Should I drop Stealth? I do battle friends in the Arena now and then, but is it really needed for someone in PvE?

I like Leviathan Mastery, but I feel like something is wrong there. Any suggestions?

I was thinking about dropping Burnout and adding 3 more slots to Kuji-in Retsu for Recharge. I mean, 6 minutes of it is nice, but when it's done, it means I have to wait 20 minutes for the next one. I was thinking if I slotted it with recharge IOs, I would only have 3 minutes of it, but I'd be able to use it every 5 minutes. What do you guys think?

And...yeah. Any other suggestions? I'd really appreciate it, thanks.

That's fine, but it's just the entire block-of-ice full body armor that looks...ugly.

Hoarfrost looks great with the thin layer of ice on the body, but the rest...I mean, honestly, a WHOLE body covered in frozen ice blocks looks...Seriously unpleasant. Maybe without covering the head, and reduce the density of the armor or something.

Or we could do it Sub-Zero style and just have the character obtain a 'Frozen look', i.e, Sub-zero's victim after an Ice Blast. That would be nice, because I want to try Ice Armor, but the freaking blocks-of-ice-around-body just messes with the costume.

OH, OH, or it could be similar to the Victorian Decor Aura!
  24. I love Ninja Run, using it during fights is pretty much the same for me. But I hear what you guys are saying, I never noticed that it drained so much endurance....Hmm....

So the issue is that it takes a lot of endurance, but still....I'd really like it to be toggled on with Combat Jumping on at the same time. I've been using it since level 4 till 50, and have had no problems.

Though I should give it a shot without it for a while....
  25. I like the concept of Ice Armor for Stalkers, but I will say that it is really hideous visually. I suggest having the choice to have the effects visible in PvP only, like some of the other power sets.
