Will post something when they are back! =) -
Swissabix approves of this drawing but however questions why the two protagonists aren't hugging?
-
Clarify a few more things please:
<ul type="square">
Colour? B&W? both?
Must these be like character sheets or 3 different views in action poses?
Is the use of 3D allowed?
Is the use of currently existing costume pieces allowed?
What is the prize?
My 2 cents:
First of all, let me say that I really this because as it was mentioned, it looks like you put effort, love and fun into this. So kudos to you Costie.
Second, I'd like to point out what, in my opinion, let's the drawing down.
**The cross-hatch.
It's too thick and clashes with the colouring. You shoud either have full areas of black for shading or simply ink thin lines as contour with no shading. The latter applies to cases where you're going to colour the pic fully.
**The poses.
If, as your comment states, it is a war zone, they would not be just standing there. They would be flexing their muscles, jumping in fear of getting caught or killed and in anger that the Rikti are invading their homes... Stretch those construction lines, bend those knees and elbows, tighten the muscles, veines and nerves on their bodies
And finally, the composition.
It all depends on how you look at it. I believe that if you're going to portray a full scene, make it a full scene. Not part of it. -IF- you're making a part of a scene.. you shouldn't have to explain what is going on like you did in your response to ShadowGhost.
The picture should speak for itself.
But these are my nitpicks. You're obviously on a great high here so keep at it.
Nice one. -
These are all drawing based ideas:
<ul type="square">You could choose a toon that everyone make a portrait from.
You can have a collaboration contest.
You can have people create a new badge design + description.
You can have a "most dynamic action pose" contest.
You can make a "sexiest toon" contest.
Maybe a "favorite area of the city" layout contest
Dunno really... *shrugs* -
Cool! I'm in ^^
Will send you an ingame tell... -
The proportions are good but she does have short legs in regards to the upper half of her body.
And the neck! A woman's neck is usually, in this context, thinner.
IMO, what you are missing here is dynamism. Dynamism as in: pose exaggeration and amplification.
Her body is still quite stiff. For me, the rule of thumb, when drawing women, is the reverse twist between the shoulder and pelvis area.
Reverse Twist
The shoulders move in opposite reverse symmetry from the pelvis, creating the main body movement and thus giving you the basis for dynamism in any pose.
Check this for dynamic poses:

Hope this helps =)

Btw, looove the anatomy studies you have on you dev page. Keep am coming! -
So is this a stand alone .exe ?
Or do you need a 3rd party software (3dsMax) as the base to plug this into? -
Haven't posted there in yonks... them MT people scare me!
-
Nice!
The swords looks well cool ^^
Am just a little worried about the muscles in his arms.. O_O;
References ^^
Also, see the cross-hatched areas? These should be removed/replaced with darker shades. Imo, it's a shame as it contrasts too much with the colours. Either darken it or have the character fully done in cross hatching. For consistancy.
And he doesn't look tired to me. He looks ready/serious about business.
Nice piece Costie!
Moar plz! -

Those are pretty cool. The red one looks the best (imo).

Yup.
...but the second strikes the eye better.
Nice one bushbaby!
*goes to look for old t-shirts and bleach* -
What they say over at Megatokyo, and rightly so, is: if you're starting a new comic, good for you! If you're looking for C&C on it, don't show us just one page (or one panel), show us 3 to 4 full pages (some opening page in comics can be just one full-paged illustration).
Post more ^^ -

:O
Very soft looking and very feminine!
More plzkthnx! -
I see no highlighting.
If you're referring to the colours added to the B&W canvas then yes, it looks nice. It looks like a cut-out screenshot with a bit of a drop shadow in the back.
If you're referring to the light source, then I'd say I wouldn't agree with it. Why? because the shadow on the arm and his right leg suggests that the light came from his right back (3/4 behind him) and you added shadows on the back of the trench coat. Also some lighter tones have been casted on his knees and left leg thus creating a new light source, but without a background, it's hard to tell.
The creases on the chest have a nice grey/blue tone but losses itself in the gradient backdrop.
What get's my attention though, is his belt buckle. Nice texture work. I really has a nice shiny, metal effect! -
Meant to comment on this..
First off, kudos on the paint!
I like it. There is something very endearing about this picture. Very naive yet, very complete. Reminds me of what OhGodtheRats does in a way.
The warped perspective is fun. And even though the characters totally lost their sense of proportions, it still works.
Where you lose points, imo, is with the caption and sound effect. It clashes/contrasts with all the nice paint. -
For the record, I wasn't criticizing but thinking more of "pushing" you to have a go at creating your toon from scratch. I'm not trying to take away the time you spent on this at all.
>>>this was just like drawing him
I get you 100%.
I know we all have our different ideas of creativity so whatever floats your boat really. As long as you have fun ^^ -
Nice toon.
But I challenge you to draw him now! -
Yay for Blackdove's return!
Great atmosphere, relaxing composition... Sweet pose. She's definitely my kind of girl(Blackdove too btw...)
My only gripe: smudge-tool-a-licious! It feels like the Rebecca and the couch share the same texture.
By the way, that bulging effect on the couch given by the feet's weight? Brilliant!

Man, I'd swear this a blatant thread hi-jack! O_O;
