Quote:Why should they merge servers? To satisfy the few who want off-season Freedom numbers? Then those people should transfer to Freedom now and live with the queues during this peak season.Since the majority of subs are monthly, that would require new content at minimun every other month to keep people from dropping every time they complete the newest stuff. Not only that, it would have to be fairly significant content to actually keep people renewing their subs. That would certainly be nice, but probably unrealistic.
Merging servers would be less desirable, but probably more realistic in the current economic climate. I'm not saying it should happen, but it most likely will if GR doesn't turn things around long term. If we are seeing pre-GR numbers next quarter, mergers might be the next step.
I see no reason for them to do the cost and effort of server mergers and alienate those who don't want it just to satisfy people who cannot be bothered to transfer when it is free but want to complain in the forums when it drops off. -
Quote:Which is why my level locked guys at 32, 33, and 35 will take the 5 rares for 1 a-merit roll while my 50s will just take a direct buy of ones I want.Buy direct recipes - any level or lower
the random rolls - will come at your level or the highest the recipe comes at whichever is appropriate.
BTW I forgot to check, did they ever get the Steadfast Protection recipes added to the a-merit vendors? In beta only Res/End was there. -
So what are our problems? People don't play without new content? If so, doesn't yesterday prove merging isn't a solution to the population problem but that adding content is?

Quote:There are the bars: hero, vigilante, villain, rogueI'm equally confused. My perception of this new window is that I only can fill 1 more bubble in 24 hours ?? or do they all go away in 24 hours so I can do 5 more tips ? Not very clear.
There are the 5 bubbles for fame.
No more than 2 bars can show at a time because you can only work on your current alignment or the next one. So a vigilante in Paragon can work on Hero or Vigilante. A vigilante in Rogue Isles can work on villain.
Each bar has 10 points to it. Doing a tip mission of that type advances the bar of the type and adds a fame bubble. Whether your hero does 5 vigilante tips or 3 vigilante and 2 hero tips (or any other combination) you will fill up your 5 fame bubbles.
Each fame bubble has a 20 hour timer. Once you fill up all 5 you cannot advance your bars at all. -
Quote:Logic is a field of flowers that all smell bad. - Spockthese merits will divert the players that dont like earning influence because they see it as an unreachable goal whereas merits gives them a time table.
Never mind the fact that farming A-Merits is horrible for getting pvp and purple IOs, lazy people will do it because it sounds easier than big numbers.
One IO a month vs multiple in a week - the logic, it doesn't matter to them. -

On the upside they just added that Nearest to Completion grouping however that won't list ones that are completed.
I'm not sure how far back the Most Recent badges drop down goes.
Also there are badge ID numbers so you can check to see if you have a badge by trying to set it using that.

I believe they are all listed at http://www.badge-hunter.com/ -
Quote:Mostly.Okay so yesterday I did three Tip missions on a character for vigilante points. After 20 real time hours those vigilante points expire and I will have to do 5 more missions to get the morality mission to actually become a vigilante. But if I play that character again within 20 hours I can do two more tip missions to "fill" the bar. Do I have that right?
I want to clarify the fame points expire, not vigilante points. There are 3 things to watch on the Tips' contacts.
There is a bar for 2 alignments (your current one and the only other one you can switch)*. Ten tips of that alignment fill that bar and create the possibility of a tip drop for an alignment switching mission. I would consider these to be more accurately your vigilante and hero points.
Then there are the 5 slots for fame points. In theory you could run 2 Vigilante and 3 hero to fill up the 5 fame spots. Each of the fame points has its own 20 hours expiration timer to clear out.
*You will find when you are a vigilante you can either be in Paragon and work on Vigilante (more) or (back to) Hero. These are lost if you go to the Rogue Isles but there you would have the ability to work on going to a Villain. -
The tips and their missions do not expire. Completing the tip mission creates a "fame" point in the tips' contact area. There are only 5 of those slots. Each expires in 20 hours so once you do 5 you cannot do any more until one of them expires. You will also not get a tip to drop that would put you beyond the 5 (at least as far as all my beta testing could determine).

Protip: When the NC Store is down (which stinks) we cannot access any of our open character slots above the basic 12. So if you delete a character the slot goes unavailable until the store is back (which stinks). Characters in the over-12 slots are available even when the store is down. -
Too much to do though I am still a bit sad one thing more isn't there...
Oh alpha incarnate slot, how I miss thee. Return soon. -

Goatee Swellguy skipped the tutorial and is waiting for me to get off work tonight to direct his activities.

It was pretty wild when I checked into the market last night. I love it.

Quote:Or you can combine the two activities by using AE. You earn a lot of tickets and turn them into stuff to sell on the market.Read these forums more, play the market. Playing the market will net you far, far more than killing hordes and hordes of stuff ever will.
I'm under the impression Nethergoat does both because he enjoys both playing the market and gunning down NPCs.
Will inf jump into people's pockets? Only if they do something that can make it happen. The most ridiculous example would be if someone complained they aren't getting rich RPing but there are other things you can do in the game to minimize your ability to make inf just as there are things you can do to maximize it.
That said, my dominator is just under 1 billion from "just playing the game" for a year. He sold his drops and none were ever worth more than 20-30 million or so.. He checked to see if a recipe crafted sold for enough to justify crafting or simply listed the recipe, etc. He random rolled his merits when he'd get 80-100 of them from his contacts, etc. -

Yes, I agree they need to do something about the fame bubble. It was less confusing in beta when they didn't have them.
