I wholeheartedly agree with you....I'm playing a water/fire blaster at the moment and there is very good AOE damage and strong mitigation. I still prefer my fire/fire blaster for absolute destruction and damage....nonetheless I am enjoying my water/fire blaster.
-
My wife and I are currently playing a couple of Water Blasters (she is playing Water/Psi and I am Water/Ice). We are having an absolute blast. As Mad Grim stated, the Water set provides great survivability.
-
After being gone for a few years, I just got back and rolled a Fire/Earth Dom.
So far I'm liking the results, and can definitely see some synergy between the two sets. -
Quote:This is also my understanding of how kb mag works....while you are about getting knocked back more in melee anything that will KB you thru 4 pts of protection will kb you thru 8 pts as well. There are no powers in the game that have KB mags of 4-9.9 its under 4 or 10 or zomg what just hit me.
Mag 4 will stop 90-95% of kb mag 8 stops exactly the same amount and mag 12 stops 99% -

Ill/Rad has long been the build that is viewed as the "AV Killer." Fire/Rad is awesome, but doesn't have the same protection of three invulnerable tanks. I'm not doubting that you can do it, but it may be that you are just that good. When lots of folks can do it, that suggests that it is the build that is the cause.[/QUOTE]
Good point. -

I like fear. Mostly due to lower end requirements (alot les healing needed) but also alot due to liking the multi floating skulls
Great for damage mitigation as even those not feared are hit with nasty -acc
[/ QUOTE ]
Also, never looked this up but always assumed the cloak stacked with touch for some nasty uber fear for the big guys
[/ QUOTE ]
ToF + CoF do stack.
[/ QUOTE ]
TY for this confirmation
I was pretty sure they did by the look of fear in my enemies eyes.
[/ QUOTE ]
CoF also stacks nicely with Intimidate or Invoke Panic... I have a concept Claws/Dark with the Presence pool.
Not saying the Presence pool is spectacular or anything, but it's fun yelling at things. Kind of a scrap/tank/troller build, not as good at any of those things as a specialist, but can Fear a whole spawn, or taunt to hold aggro as needed.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have the Presence Pool with my DB/Dark and combined with COF Invoke Panic and Intimidate are great for fear mobs. -

If you run CoD and jump into a group with OG running, the mobs are not in "100 yard dash mode" and will stun quickly with barely a stagger. Broadsword makes quick work of minions.
I sense people who complain about the running aren't using CoD.
[/ QUOTE ]
I fail to see what CoD has to do with anything. Stunned mobs wander with ridiculous speed. CoD will do nothing to prevent this.
[/ QUOTE ]
Stunned mobs do not wander at ridiculous speed if they haven't started their movement. CoD allows you to get in melee range of them so they don't start movement and instead cycle an attack. Since they haven't started movement their movement speed does not increase by the time they are stunned. Stunned mobs only move at ridicuolus speed because they were already in motion moving somewhere.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmm....this has not been my experience. IMHO stunned mobs seemed to wander away quickly whether they were already in motion or standing still. -
Prior to AE, farming over in Peregrine Island was very commonplace. The number of Fire/Kin controllers increased exponentially. People were openly selling slots in missions to other players to participate in farms. If the Devs were so concerned about farming, why didn't they significantly increase the recharge times on Fulcrum Shift and Flashfire?
Now flash forward to the present. The Devs introduce AE, and now crack the whip on those missions which blatantly advertising farming. Again, it wasn't a big issue when folks were in Peregrine advertising farms and requiring folks to "pay for play". But now it's become a big issue.
I'm not advocating farming one way or the other. But the bottom line is that farming lies in very "grey area". A mission can be banned for advertising that it is a farm in the title or description. That very same mission is okay, as long as you don't advertise that it's a farm. It's the exact same mission!!
So is the message being conveyed that it's okay to farm, but it's not okay to advertise your farm?!?!? Why can't folks advertise their farm if using the MA system, but it was okay to advertise your farm on broadcast in Peregrine back in the day?
I can understand why the Devs don't want folks to advertise MA missions as farms. They don't want folks leveling characters from 1-50 in record time. They want to keep as many people playing COH until Champions Online goes live. -

I have a 48 Claws/Dark Scrapper which I've left for some time. But, I just can't help thinking that /Dark sucks compared to the other secondarys?
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think I would label the whole secondary as "sucking" because you are having some issues. I give you credit for coming to the boards and asking for some input, but don't write off /Dark just yet. -

An arc with only a hint of story (not even a full sentence for the mission brief), all of the text typed in caps, typos, and a custom ill/wp? boss throwing out confuse, PA, decoys, and illusionist pets surrounded by arachnoids ... oh please, am I supposed to think that is going to get any better?

GLAD TO SEE YOU LIKED MY MISSION, PLEASE DON'T ONE STAR ME. PART TWO IS BETTER AS THE BOSSES ONLY SPAM FEARSOME STARE, SPECTRAL TERROR, CHILL OF THE NIGHT, AND POWERSINK. OH, AND THE END BOSS IS SURROUNDED BY EVERY ARCH VILLIAN INCLUDED IN THE MARIA JENKINS ARC, A RITKI INVASION, AND THE WINTER LORD. MIGHT WANT TO BRING ALONG A COUPLE OF TEAMMATES.

If you are willing to accept the praise that comes along with a 4-5 star rating, then conversely you need to be able to stomach a few 1-2 ratings that may not include any supporting comments.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am sorry but I don't understand what this has to do with this thread.
[/ QUOTE ] Really? People are crying about bad ratings. They need to get over themselves and realize that maybe their story isn't that great.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wholeheartedly agree.
Look I understand the concerns here, but one of the risks associated with MA is that your story arc may not be played. Everyone and their momma is submitting stories right now. So if you are going to take the time to create a story then you have to accept the fact the fact that your mission might not be played and that your mission may receive a 1-2 star rating. No matter what rating format is applied, someone, somewhere will start a thread complaining bitterly about how unfair it is. -
[ QUOTE ]
I would go as far as say that one-star bandits are killing the MA. It is a huge way to discourage creative players to keep producing quality arcs. I hope something is going to be done...soon.
[/ QUOTE ]
MA has only been live for all of 3-4 days?? And one star bandits are killing it??
From what I have seen the Freedom Server alone has been packed since MA was released. You would have thought that it was double XP weekend. So can we wait at least wait a week MA before we exclaim the sky is falling, save the women & children and pronounce MA as being dead?
Give it some time, the good quality arcs will receive the proper credit they deserve.
I'm sorry I don't think the real issue is the fear that utilizing the one star system will kill MA. The real issue appears to be that people want to publish their work in a public venue, but don't want to deal with the harsh criticism that comes from being in the spotlight. I'm not advocating hurting the feelings of those folks who worked hard to come up with missions/story arcs. However, please understand that not everyone who does your missions is going to rate them 5 stars. If you are willing to accept the praise that comes along with a 4-5 star rating, then conversely you need to be able to stomach a few 1-2 ratings that may not include any supporting comments.
It ain't easy running a MMOG.... -
[ QUOTE ]
I think that you should not be able to rate an arc 1 or 2 stars without leaving a comment. It is way too easy to kill somebody's hard work with an anonymous 1 or 2 star rating, especially if it is one of the first couple of ratings the story gets.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok....so let's say I rate an arc one star and then for a comment I leave "this arc sucks". Is that a good enough comment? Is that sufficient??? That's why I don't see any value of "forcing" someone to leave a comment if they want to rate an arc 1 or 2 stars.
Here's my two cents...if you are are going to put yourself out there and develop missions for everyone to play then you better be prepared to deal with the criticism. Some of that criticism will come in the form of constructive comments and sometimes it will come in the form of a rating of 1 or 2 stars. I get the feeling there is a "a one or two star rating isn't fair" mentality developing in this thread. But when you put your work out there for public consumption there is not such thing as fair. We live in a "star" based system from everything from movies, albums, products, etc...
I understand that people have worked hard on developing their missions, but you have to understand that some folks are going to be brutal when it comes to providing a review of your missions. I look at it like this, if you create a kick butt mission then folks will want to play it, they will tell others to play it, and you will receive the glory you are craving. Some folks don't even care about ratings, if the mission sounds interesting then they will play it. Bottom line I think if you are going to create missions you better have a thick skin. -
I have both a Fire/Nrg and Fire/Fire blasters and I have to admit I have never encountered the severe aggro hate the OP describes.

Chiliblain- 1st power...very good for PvP if it hits, if you want to keep bosses from scoring major melee damage to you, you can keep them doing not as much damage on you with their ranged attacks so you have a better chance of staying alive.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Block of Ice- 2nd power...Defenitely a must if u want your ice/ice dom to even be a dom at all!!
Should I Get it?- YES. I cant stress enough that you have to get this! This slotted with some hold+ ench can really hold someone for a long time. A lot of people have said that Block Of Ice is the Best Dom hold power.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Glacier- 8th power...Glacier is a very good hold power, if you are a team dom then you defentiley need this, this attack freezes everyone around you and if you slot it with acc and hold+ then this power is awesome. The only downside is that its recharge is very long and it has little acc and duraction without slotting, but when you slot it, and/or domination, this power will perform very well.
[/ QUOTE ]
So you give us the preceeding three "pearls" of advice but then make the following comment:
[ QUOTE ]
Power Boost- 5th power...Power Boost increases all secondary effects such as Heals, Defenseve Buffs, Disorients, Holds, Immobilizes, Knockbacks, and more.
Should I Get It?- I wouldn't reccomend getting this, unless you need to increase your secondary effects.
[/ QUOTE ]
Gee....why would a Dominator want to secondary effects such as the duration of immobolizes and/or holds ??? -
Devs,
Riddle me this....
Which group runs away faster?
a) The mobs in COH when Burn is turned on?
b) Your current subscriber base when Issue 5 is turned on?
