Fire/earth or Fire/electric dom?

Been wanting to make a Fire/ dom, but can't decide on the 2ndary set. I've seen a lot of praise for the fire/earth, but haven't really heard much about /electric other than it sucks now. Why does /electric suck now?

I wouldn't say it sucks 'now'. Some will tell it's always sucked. Nothing has changed for elec since it launched for doms.

As for the pairings, I think /earth goes better with fire control if you plan to melee a lot with Hot Feet and Cinders.

But if you're planning to not take those powers for whatever reason, then /elec would be a good selection as it has a bit more range than melee options.

I think what folks might be referring to regarding elec is Thunderstrike. It does knockback instead of knockdown, which some suffer erectile dysfunction over.

Pretty much what this guy said. Although, Fire Cages does make enemies immune to Knockback and Knockdown so, while it will prevent Thunderstrike from knocking enemies back, it will also prevent Earth Assault from knocking enemies down. Electric has decent ranged attacks while Earth has the worst ranged attacks of any dom set by far. Both Stone Spears and Bolder have pathetic damage for their long animation times.

Not saying Earth Assault is bad. It's THE set if you want to melee. But it's equally bad for range as it is awesome for melee.

I agree with this as well. I am currently running a fire/stone, while very end heavy (no IO's atm) he is a melee monster.

Also this is the one combination that gets two -speed damage auras: Hotfeet & Mud Pots! I can't wait for IO's and Cardio for my toon.

/Earth also has Power Boost, a Hold and KB/KD to supplement Fire's weaker-than-average control, while Fire/ has Imps and Hot Feet to help with /Earth's limited AoE damage. They really work together well. Not that I think that Fire/Elec would be bad, mind you; it just doesn't have the same synergy as Fire/Earth.

After being gone for a few years, I just got back and rolled a Fire/Earth Dom.

So far I'm liking the results, and can definitely see some synergy between the two sets.
