Oops! You know, leaving out a whole sentence can really change the meaning of something... :P I meant to include was something like this (a bit wordier now that I've thought about it a bit more):
I remember seeing a duration modifier for text bubbles. The modifier was soemthing like: <dur #> where # is the count. I've never played with it so I don't know if that is measured in seconds or what. You'd need to experiment with it. if it works, the floating bubbles should disappear quicker.
In a bind, it should look something like: petsayname Fred <em wave><dur 5>Hi!
I wish I had more time to experiment with masterminds, but the SG needs a decent base... -shrug- -
Good job Choff!
Another way to do this would be to have each henchman's speech be in seperate files. This will double the number of files, but you won't have to worry about timing or positioning so much. It also lets you create more reliable reactions to statements/actions.
I also recommend adding in a command to reset your skit in case it gets interrupted. Put something like this in the pettalk1.txt file:
ALT+o "bindloadfile c:\cov\pettalk1.txt"
I also caution people against overusing henchman speech. It is cool to be able to make skits/plays, but spamming just isn't cool. Don't do it kids! Remember, friends don't let friends spam.
Keep up the good work! -

WHAT??? All of my hard earned bind's have dissapeared!!!
[/ QUOTE ]
I sure hope everyone backed up their binds locally...Ouch. Just ouch.
[/ QUOTE ] I didn't discover the bug until after I did a /Bind_save
[/ QUOTE ]
In spite of their instructions it is better to do a /bind_save_file C:\<pathname> and then a /bind_save_load C:\<pathname> which gives you more control. I use a different bind file for each of my alts.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree - If you have a physical bind file created for each of your characters, you do not seem to have this problem. This only seems to effect binds that are created using the /bind command in the chat box.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed. I have different binds for all my characters. all saved in C:/1/ (to make it short). I dont have the problem either. It is a great Idea to backup all your binds with bind save. to late for a lot of people now I guess, but still good information.
[/ QUOTE ]
Bwahahahahaha! Bind quote pyramid of doom!
Ahem... I have my generic keybind.txt file in my COH folder. It lists all the keymapping that applies to all my characters. Pretty straightforward stuff that I could rebind off the top of my head, but why expend the effort?
Most of my characters have one or two oddball things personalized to them (rolling comments, movement powers, etc.) and for that I bind ALT+[F#] to load a specific character's files. This helps if I have to make changes quickly during the game. Otherwise its just me being lazy again. -
"This is so much better than standing in burning oil slicks!" --A hellion cheering as a house burned in Mercery Island. That comment actually saved his life. I was positioning for an assassin's strike when I happened to read the NPC dialog box.
Besides, there was a Ripper a little ways away that was much more deserving of my attention. -

I know two married couples that play. One couple is in my main's SG, the other couple is on a different server with their established SGs and only come over to Liberty on very rare occassions.
My wife and I palyed for a little while, but Life got in the way. She says she got bored. Of course, it didn't help that these sorts of game give her mild motion sickness (she can't play *any* FPS), we're working radically different shifts now, and (most recently) our 2nd computer died. Oy. I guess it wasn't meant to be.
Oh well.
In a few years our son (almost 3) will probably start playing. He loves watching me "play momma" (we made the super powered versions of ourselves, you see) and "get the bad guys". -
I remember when I hit level 22 with my first character, a Dark/Regen Scrapper. I had about 100k above what I normally should have thanks to a costume contest win and another guy that decided I had a cool character. Other than that, everything I had was hard earned. I managed to outfit my character with about 3/4 SOs (attacks, defenses) and 1/4 DOs (secondary powers). By the time I hit 23, I was 100% SOs. I have no idea how I ended up with enough cash for all that.
Now with my lvl 25 tanker, I'm still trying to scrape together enough cash to even fill his slots. I have a 5 slotted Dull Pain that I haven't been able to afford enhancements for. I'm really not sure what his problem is, other than I haven't been getting origin appropriate DOs (or ones that I already have SOs for). The handful of SOs I've gotten from missions have been mostly unusable because they were for oddball stuff (confuse, to-hit debuffs, slow). I did get one lvl +1 damage SO, which I happily slotted in my "finisher" attack.
Now my Fire/Kin has been a victim of the respec. I started her two freespecs ago and I was determined to not waste them. I don't know what I was thinking, but after the last one I was sorely short on cash. Most of her slots are empty after buying accuracy DOs for her crucial attacks. She also suffered a weird bout of recieveing virtually no enhancement drops; over the course of six missions, I've recieved five(!) whole training enhancements! And about as many Inspirations... yuck. -

I've seen a lot of complaints about this so I brought it up before we went live. We changed it so certain toggle effects fade out but it didn't make it into live. Dark Armor shouldn't be so bad anymore once this gets updated. The same goes for Mud Pots.

I don't suppose Super Speed is one this list? -
[ QUOTE ]
Let's be honest. What do people really buy these guides for. There are only two things that guides are generally used for. The base numbers of powers and some background information on NPC's.
[/ QUOTE ]
There is a third & fourth reason (at least for console games): Cheats & Eastereggs. That works fine in a console game because those don't get updated until the next game comes out.
For something like an MMO I don't understand why you would want it. The game evolves so regularly that they'd need to be cranking out pudates on a quarterly basis (if not faster).
And on top of that, what information could be in that guide that isn't available on these forums or on one of the many excellent fansites? -boggle- -
I have all my chord keys set to "NOP" and I have seen no different between CTRL and LCTRL when used as a chord key... I have numerous keybinds using LCRTL or RCRTL plus a shared key and haven't had any problems. Most of them are Emotes, team selection + power use, or henchmen controls. I never got any of the Tier 3 henchmen, so maybe that's why I never noticed a problem? I guess I'll double check my binds when I get home tonight.
Anyway, other than the key+chord, there's nothing wrong with that bind is there? It just looks really odd. -
Okay, it looks like I have a question now. I found the following while reading this thread:
[ QUOTE ]
/bind Shift+2 beginchat /send "Global Channel" [$name, lvl $level $Archetype]
[/ QUOTE ]
So, if I'm reading this right, the following should work if added to my keybind file:
[ QUOTE ]
LCTRL+ENTER beginchat /send "Liberty Badgers" ($name, Level $level $archetype)
[/ QUOTE ]
That will output a string of text to the global channel Liberty Badgers, correct? I was a little unclear on whether or not you need to include the quotes... I know something like this is used by numerous people on the channel, but I'd rather not increase the noise by posting it there.
And if does work... how would I modify this thing to include an AFK message? -

try this.
/bind p "+ $$powexectoggleon Fire shield$$powexectoggleon blazing aura$$team Phoenix IGNITE!"
[/ QUOTE ]
I believe this will cause him to say "Pheonix IGNITE!" multiple times. If that is a problem, then another way to do it is to use two files. This is less reliable though because the files can get out of sequence and cause some odd results.
If you wanted to use two files though, try this:
blaze.txt
[ QUOTE ]
p "+ $$powexectoggleon blazing aura$$team Pheonix IGNITE!$$bindloadfile c:\bind\fire.txt"
[/ QUOTE ]
fire.txt
[ QUOTE ]
p "+ $$powexectoggleon fires shield$$bindloadfile c:\bind\blaze.txt"
[/ QUOTE ]
You can change the path to whatever works best for you. When you have the files set up, type:
[ QUOTE ]
/bindloadfile c:\bind\fire.txt
[/ QUOTE ]
Then you should be good to go. -
Oops accidentally combined two entries:

Some more that I thought of:

Fury Addiction - a term used by Brute players to describe the addictiveness of keeping their Fury bar as full as possible. Often this leads to spaz-like behavior
spaz - a player that rushes into a group of enemies without regard for the team's current status. Spazzes are sometimes griefers, but mostly they just don't know what they're doing.
Leroy - A particularly bad spaz. Term coined from an allegedly real video of an EQ* party. Can be used as a verb or nickname.
* at least I think it was EQ, correct me if I'm wrong.

alpha strike - launching a sudden, hopefully, overpowering attack against an enemy or group of enemies.
ninja - to sneak around the enemy, usually using only minimal or no stealth powers. Sometimes refers to a particularly deft bit of running/jumping that puts a character is a position they "shouldn't" be able to get to

GJ - good job
Thanks! - a polite term that should be used to express your appreciation for what your teammates are doing to help you out.

offender - a defender that focuses on debuffs and blasts rather than buffs or heals.

crab - term for a Kheldian, especially when in Dwarf form. Also: lobster -
Thanks for the update, I looked at this when you first put it up, but I was so far away from PAs that I kind of filed it away for later research.
I think 3/3 rech/dmg is going to be the way I go when I get my PA, Trix is mostly a scraptroller anyway, so I'll want a balance between damage and aggro management, especially when I solo.
Of course if they're missing too much, then 3/2/1 rech/dmg/acc is probably going to be the way to go. -
Yeah, the monkey dance has... issues.

OK - here's the most likely outcome...
If you own both games, you get all options - the new CoV sets will be accessible for your heroes.
[/ QUOTE ]
I could go on and on, but I won't. If this goes through, its will be awesome. Heck, if 90% of the new costume options go through, it would still be awesome.
And for the record, I could live without the monstrous heads... but definately keep the creepy reptile/cat/insect/etc. options, okay?
And how about cigars (and the "demonic" face) for the girls while we're at it? -
Last I checked, the different dances were random. :/

[ QUOTE ]
Every power, across the board, is getting a 13.33% reduction in its Endurance cost.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, that's helpful. It doesn't really address the seething hatestorm that ED is generating, but it is still helpful. Thanks -
Definately in favor of more zone events. Also wouldn't mind seeing more frequent monster spawns (except Lusca), especially since the XP for them is pretty marginal these days.
Atlas Park: Council start marching or practicing in formation (like in Boomtown). Or maybe several squads of council converge on City Hall, looking to take out the next generation of supers.
Atlas Park: Hellions spread their arson spree to Altas Park. It would be nice if you could go into the buildings to rescue people and arrest hellions.
Galaxy City: Zombie uprising. Spawns at night only. Large groups of cadavers and abominations, all low level. Perhaps one reaper or mortificator per group.
King's Row: The Skulls could and assault the police station. Blue Shield could broadcast for help on the global channel. Upon arrival, the heroes would find a shootout in progress between the Skulls and Police.
The Hollows: I don't see why the Troll Rave couldn't spread to The Hollows, much like the Ghost Ship hits IP and Talos.
And so on... Basically just give us more to do with our down time. -

Morning's Glory - who I met on a really nasty AV mission and we stuck it out together. I have had the pleasure of teaming with her again lately and we have a great time!

Yep, Morning's Glory rocks. -
[ QUOTE ]
Not true, I often slot enhancements I have gotten from a drop. I would rather run lots of missions and spend time playing the game than shopping and making sure my enh are always green. I also give away SO's to people on my team who are the same origin all the time .
[/ QUOTE ]
Ditto that 100%.
I try to encourage my teammates to trade enhancements. With my actual friends, it usually isn't an issue (unless we have heavily mixed origins). Pickup teams are usually a bit more difficult, but if they're decent players, they usually get the hint after they get a few useful SOs thrown their way.
Statesman, if there is (ultimately) a change to the current store system, then at least make the store contacts like the ones in FF & Bricks. Let us do one or two missions to unlock the store option, but then that's it for the misisons they can offer. If you wanted to get really wacky, how about giving us contacts that just give us missions? No buy/sell options, just missions.
Heck, maybe you could throw in some vendors that sell inspirations only, but have better than level 1 inspirations (if there are contacts any that do sell better inspirations, I haven't found them yet.)?
Oh, and for what its worth, the Freedom Corps "training centers" make perfect sense. Don't ever get rid of them.
But please, please, please States, let us go back and unlock contacts whose missions we've outleveled because we didn't know any better. Locking yourself out of Origin-related contacts really hurts new players and ones that don't troll the forums, fan sites, and so on looking for every morsel of info so they can plan out their path to level 50...
Oh, and maybe we could make the origin contacts a little more obvious? I mean, I never would have guessed Penny Preston was the mutant origin store if I hadn't gone to the fan sites I mentioned. :-/ The Genie, on the other hand... Kind of obvious once I found her. -
