  1. With the recent generosity of the Dev's logging on Beta and giving everyone who asks "Boosts" to lvl 50, I opted to try my hand at making a PB. With that said, I reviewed a lot of the builds and I really seem to have a problem following suit with the build patterns of most because it visually has to look "neat" to me. Meaning, every power has to have it's share of slots as I don't feel right taking a power and it not being as useful as I can make it. Some may argue that this isn't as effective as I may think but bare with me, it's a personal choice.

    The reason I'm here today is to see if someone can offer some suggestions as to what they feel would be the best IO's/ATO's or otherwise into the build to maximize what I've already done. I'm going for perma "Light Form" which will cap most resist in this build. I think I may have it as I haven't finished slotting yet because the new ATO Kheld set isn't available via mids to show the totals. That ATO set (you can use both from the hero's superpacks and villians superpacks) would give me an additional 6.25% recharge. Currently my recharge on light form is 104.4 sec with the perma being at or below 90%. I don't know if 6.25% global would reach that so it I can get some suggestions on how to reach that, that would be great. I have some empty slots in the healing/resist powers because I plan on slotting the procs in the healing/resis IO sets but if you feel I can take away from those to get perma Light Form, let me know.     I'm playing on beta and am pleasantly pleased that everything on the market is free, which opens the ability to use purples and not have to wait till they drop. Unfortunately there are no PVP recipes so I still have to buy those which isn't a problem if I can figure out how to transfer some funds from my main account. This post is mainly for critique for my tanker. With the options damn near limitless, Can you guys let me know what you think and if some changed should be made? I'm going for an even build; decent dmg, def, resist, end, acc. I've seen some builds but not with my secondary and honestly I don't want to have some crazy looking build (ie, one slotted endurance and health)....help me out folks as a last favor...

  5. I tweeked the build with some suggestions and reviewed the numbers. I thought I was happy but it just seems like having no debuff resis is going to be huge prob. I was up against BP's in DA and they ate right thru my defense and my resistance didn't really act as a buffer at all. I'm wondering if I need to somehow/someway bring my positional up e/n/c. It might have been situational because against melee based toons, I did pretty ok. I'm still not getting that tankie feel (ya know, the feeling you CAN'T die) and I'm confused about it. This is my first fire based defense toon and I wanna love, not like it. Check out what I've done and let me know if you see anything needed. When building I pay attention to acc/end/def/res/health and debuff resis if I can get some from somewhere.

  6. Hello all,

    I just got finished slotting my newest tanker and I love the theme I got going BUT it's performing rather weakly. The damage is very good as far as tanker damage goes but I don't know if it's just me and that the build has to be complete (included the catalyst for the ATO set I have) or I'm overlooking something.   7. I used this build and as long as you use the "Form of Soul", you won't have any problems as this form gives you a boost to regen and end. To mitigate this, you can choose an alpha that reduces end consumption (ie, cardiac, agility or vigor). Also you won't see this build really shine until you get all of the slots filled but it works...I was the last standing in a DA arc mish breaking out one of the Malta agents against PPD and all their debuff...(of course I had to use a few lucks since I was by myself) but I did it.

    Dark Regen is on a 19 sec recharge and NO end redux. You need more slots there.

    I took your advise and changed a quite a few enhancements in the set to add acc to all the powers I could. I think I may have gone overboard because now my dmg seems to have been affected quite a bit but hey atleast all my powers hit (right)? I also focused on getting as close to softcapped in e/n as possible without having to drop any of the powers I wanted and that seems to have a great effect on my survivability (s/l was already over softcapped on my previous build).

    I'm looking foward to getting T4 incarnate on my alpha so I can run all my toggles indefinitely as I find that my end is drained in those rare occasions where the fights are long and I have all my toggles on (fear and dmg toggle) activated. I probably could have dropped defensive sweep (as it gives me positional boost to melee which I didn't really think necessary) and chosen another power that would have given me that extra % to softcap energy and negative defensives but I figured that the amount I have should be good enough and I was able to slot it to give me e/n def boost anyway. Check it out and let me know what you (or anyone else thinks). Thanks again!

    If you activate the incarnate powers in MIDS you can see the effect it has on my resis % and my end which makes this build more manageable (for those who don't know).

    I stuck with cardiac since it boosts my Res and also (of course) for the end management, even with CoF on, I'm still doing pretty good with incarnate off. But if you turn them on, my end looks pretty good. In response to you regarding end management from the first build, I was looking at in terms of, "the more conserved in the better" and I didn't really see how your build made End management the number 1 priority as this build is so end heavy. I left out the things you suggested simply because I didn't know about them until reading the response directly under mine. Now that I know hopefully this build looks alot better than the first...

    PS. I took out OG because it didn't make sense, as someone else stated, that if I stun the targets, they still tend to "wander" away which works against me as I want them to stay in place. I was torn at this as Stun tends to stay stunned even after you hit the target unlike fear. Fear although is superior and can work very well especially if you get the Fear power from being a vigilante alignment power to stack...

    I decided to rebuild this again attempting to softcap S/L and raise the Res on the build as I found out that I was not as..."solid" as I would like for a tank. I found myself reliant on inspirations during tough fights and that is just not what a tank is supposed to have to do. I have one other tank (SS/Invul) and she needs no inspirations at all for ANYTHING. The build below shows the increase in def to soft cap levels with manageable end especially with incarnate boosts. If any have any suggestions, please let me know. I'll wait to see if someone can spot something that I'm missing.

    The incarnates I chose for this builds are:

    Cardiac - For obvious reasons
    Ageless - +end/-debuff resis/+recharge
    Spectral - For the immob and neg energy proc

    Are you planning on running CoF all the time? If so your net end recovery isn't all that better than mine. Your build nets about 1.9 end/sec with it on. My build nets around 1.4 but you have to keep in mind that I don't HAVE to run acro (have 4pt kb protection in the BOTZ proc) or tactics. So with those off I'm actually pretty close to your build at 1.8 end/sec.

    With the exception of the theft of essence proc (and you really should get one), the healing procs should go in health, not in dark regen, you will need Acc in dark regen especially when you are facing small spawns or an AV. While on the topic of healing, take the extra slots out of health, you have dark regen.

    You have to focus on what you want from your set bonuses. For example, the 4th slot in opp gloom and the 5th slot in tough are completely unnecessary. The measly gains in mez resistance and stun duration has no practical benefit for your tank. The extra slot in soul transfer can be better used elsewhere. These slots can go to obsidian armor and dark embrace to shore up your s/l and psi resists. One slot in obsidian will do magnitudes more than the 3% resist the impervium proc gives you.

    Above all else I've said in this post I'd strongly recommend better Acc in your powers. You may want to consider the vigor alpha instead of cardiac.

    I followed some of your advise and came up with this build. I took the addtl slots I got from Dark Regen and added them to taunt to get the bonus in Def and Dmg. I added in the Theft proc and 2 more to get the bonus to Regen and End and just took the other health procs I had in DR and added them to Health instead of going with three Numina's for the set bonus. I usually do that anyway. With the changes I've made for accuracy coming from three powers (arc of destru, whirling smash and CoF) plus the accuracy proc, I think that helped out in the accuracy department. I play with this build now and I don't see any issues thus far with accuracy. I do see some issues of course with -def resistance so I feel reliant on purple and orange inspirations. Would appreciate any feedback on this if you have any suggestions...I have posted the new modified build below....Let me know what you think, we WILL figure this out..lol

I picked cardiac as the alpha pool and that midigated it some but I thought about how the build would survive in non-50 content.     I was going for the best possible end management while trying to SC s/l/e/n, I fell short but with the powers I wanted, I was willing to accept this. I think it will be a pretty good build once I access the incarnate tree.
  13. Does anyone have a mock build of how to slot Energy Aura as I'm having a hard time softcapping the build on either side. Ideally I would like to softcap all of the non-positionals or softcap the positionals. I would greatly appreciate the help. I can then mitigate all the rest to focus on acc/dam/stun/end. Thanks!!!
  14. I see what you guys are saying. I actually was able to keep my positional defenses softcapped and the other defenses pretty decent which AAO would probably push to softcap depending on the number of enemies. I was actually able to free up to slots after the suggestions that Davonyx suggested and I even took out the Touch of Deaths and replaced them with the purple set I had stored (is that overkill?) Here is what I came up with and this build still has one slot left to use. Excuse me as I'm still a nob at slotting and taking full advantage of that. Suggestions or mock builds are GREATLY appreciated.

  15. I have a scrapper that I absolutely adore. He's a beast when it comes to damage. I've respec'd about 2 times. The first build was good on defense but the damage was sub-par and with the new incarnate stuff and changes with the new issues, I respec'd into this current build (wanting to keep damage but have good defense and good end). I've found that my defense is sufferring a lil bit but my end is getting me killed as I'm running on air without the help of blue inspir and conserve energy (pool power). Any suggestions on how I can even all of this out so that I don't have to go T4 on my alpha (really enjoying musculature) for end reasons only?

  16. So I have a scrapper that I made and the build had to be done manually. I usually search the forum for the build and then try to improve but there was none for me to do that for this build. This was done manually....any thoughts? I tried to go as far as I could with the defense but with the secondary I couldn't find any powers that would increase the Resistance....I think I did pretty good?? No?

  17. I have been playing this game for about 33 months now and I still don't know how to crunch numbers to get a solid build for my invul/ss tanker (lvl 50). I have some enhancements that I have stored up (that I hope we may be able to use) and I have about 1,162,802,570 in influence that I've collected from all my toons (4 in total) for the past couple of months. I have a couple of other toons to work on but I really want to get a good tank build that does decent damage but really can stand toe to toe with an arch-villian (ie. STF) I would take any suggestion you give with the resources I have but I definetly want to keep foot stomp, fly, hurl, haymaker, jab and knockout blow. I don't just want to be a punching bag (as a tank is supposed to be I know). I like to FIGHT!! LOL. Can you help me?

    Here's a soft capped build (melee/range/AoE which is 45% or more) and it uses a combination of cheap IOs and SOs. This will save you a lot on cost since you can slot the parts that you don't need for defense set bonuses with SOs.

    Most shield builds are not frankenslotted because they require the set bonuses that only a full set can give you. However, a build that uses frankenslotted or SO pieces with full sets can be soft capped (as you can see below).

    The build *does* have some expensive pieces. In particular, the Steadfast Def/Res and the Mako Bite pieces are expensive relative to your budget. I'd acquire the Steadfast first and get the Mako pieces when you can. All the other pieces of the build are inexpensive and widely available.

    BTW, my sig has a guide for making influence quickly. You don't have to be stuck with 75M.

  19. Ok, so I've been playing COH for some years now (love the game) but it's still a lot that I don't know. My current issue is that I have a BS/SD scrapper lvl 50 that that I haven't slotted with ANYTHING. Some would wonder how but there are ways if you have a great friend who is willing to help you lvl up without fighting. I just want and awesome fighting machine with great defense. My friend has a DM/SD scrapper and he's AWESOME!! It seems like he cant die and he's soul drain and shield charge seems to clear out the enemies quick. Well I want to be just like him. He would make recommendations for me but I think he doesn't want to see me at my full potential because he feels I won't need him anymore..(go figure)?? Can someone give me a great setup (thru mids) where I can be softcapped in defense (I still don't understand what that means fully, but reading up on it) and still have great dmg? I would sooo appreciate it. I'm working with about 75mil in influence, all lvl 50 orange recipes which include (but not limited too):

    2 Dark Watchers (To Hit Debuff/End and To Hit Debuff/Rec/End
    1 Numina's (End/Heal)
    2 Oblit's (Acc/Dam/Rech and Dam/Rec)
    1 Perfect Zinger (Taunt/Range)
    1 Performance Shifter (End Mod/Rech/Acc)
    1 Scirocco's Dervish (Acc/Rech)
    and last 1 Touch of Lady Grey (Def Debuff/End Reduction)

    I can get some more influence to work with (over-time or from my other toons) but I think this is about what I'm working with. Is someone out there with enough experience to get this done for me? I don't want to slot myself (frankenslotting I think it's called)...Help a girl out??
