Nicely written and well thought out. I could definitely see myself playing each of those ATs.
-
Gonna see if I can get a few of my high 30s to mid 40s. I'll be happy with that.
-
Had a brainstorm last night and wanted to throw it out there to see what people think.
Keep in mind, I have these goals in mind:
1) Encourage players to experience developer content first.
2) Encourage teaming and trying other's Architect missions / arcs.
3) Discourage repetitive farming.
4) Award players who have experienced developer content.
5) Create a desirable and unexploitable bonus for PvE and PvP.
6) Tie a valid Nemesis System to Mission Architect.
Step 1 (Optional)
Create A Nemesis Mission
Go to Architect Entertainment and create your Nemesis & Nemesis Mission.
You do not need to participate in this step if you'd rather fight other's Nemesis.
Nemesis Mission Rules:
A) Nemesis Missions count as a Published Arc.
B) Nemesis must be either an Elite Boss or Arch-Villain.
C) Only 1 Nemesis objective allowed per Nemesis Mission.
*Note: You may have only the Nemesis spawn in your Nemesis Mission.
D) Only 1 published Nemesis Mission allowed per account.
*Prompt: You already have a published Nemesis Mission. You must first unpublish that Nemesis Mission to publish this one.
Before proceeding to Step 2, I'd like to propose a few new features to the system.
1) Ratings of Stories/Arcs will only display your personal rating. (similar to Player Notes)
2) During creation, you may select a zone and mission door type valid to that zone.
Example 1: Heroic-Kings Row (5-10) --> Warehouse
Example 2: Villainous-Nerva Archipelago (25-40) -->Submarine
3) Personal rating effects (default 3)
1* = Ignore this author in future searches
2* = Ignore this story in future searches
3* = Don't ignore or favorite this author or story
4* = Favorite this story
5* = Favorite this author
Step 2 (Optional)
Obtain an Architect Mission (AM) Scanner
Simply complete an official Developer story arc to obtain.
You may just participate on a Architect Mission (AM) team to get the rewards.
The Architect Mission (AM) Scanner Rules:
A) Architect Missions without the Zone specific setting will not be searched.
B) Only "Final" Architect Missions will be displayed.
C) Only Architect Missions of your Morality(?) will be displayed.
D) One of your Missions may appear, but you may not vote on it as usual. (defaults to 3)
The AM Scanner (Inherent Power)
A) Click to use.
B) Check your Settings before Search. (May set all to Random)
*Choose a Zone.
*Choose a Length.
*Choose Enemy Type (Standard / Custom)
*Choose Locale (Country)
C) Search brings up a 3 tier Architect Entertainment search similar to Newspaper/Scanner.
*Tier 1: Random (Stories/Arcs hidden rating of 0-1 Stars)
*Tier 2: Random (Stories/Arcs hidden rating of 2-3 Stars)
*Tier 3: Random (Stories/Arcs hidden rating of 4-5 Stars)
D) Select one to Play or Cancel and wait for AM Scanner to refresh. (5 minute recharge)
Step 3
Understand the AM Scanner's Nemesis Progress Bar
On the bottom of the Scanner prompt, there is a Nemesis progress bar ranked 0-12.
A) Completing the following tasks will advance your Nemesis progress by the amounts listed:
*Tier 1 AM Scanner Mission = 6 (XP completion bonus -50%)
*Tier 2 AM Scanner Mission = 4 (XP completion bonus -25%)
*Tier 3 AM Scanner Mission = 2 (XP completion bonus -0%)
*Any Developer created door mission = 3 (PvP zone = 5)
*Defeating a Player in Arena or PvP Zone = 2 (5 minute debuff of 2 on Nemesis progress)
B) The Nemesis progress bar will store up to 23 points of progress and disregard any over.
*Displayed on bar as (0/12) vs (23/12)
Step 4
Accessing A Nemesis Mission
To the Right of the Nemesis Progress Bar on AM Scanner is a button that is usable once 12 points of progress has been made.
A) Click to Access Nemesis Missions.
B) Instead of Random AM Missions displayed, you are given 1 of 3 choices:
*Your Nemesis Mission (yours w/ -50% XP completion bonus)
*Random Favorite Nemesis Mission (Nemesis Missions you've rated 3+ w/ -25% bonus)
*Random Nemesis Mission (Nemesis Missions you've not played w/ -0% bonus)
Step 5
Nemesis Rewards
Only available if your Nemesis Progress is 12 upon completion of a Nemesis Mission.
*Haven't thought the following through carefully, just initial ideas*
Return to a Mission Architect Terminal to claim a bonus power?
Some Suggestions:
Summon Ally ($name): Go to your Custom Characters and select a (numerically determined) valid Boss(?) to follow and fight alongside you. (see duration and use below)
Inspiration of (type): Grants bonus effects to self and all allies in nearby radius (see duration and use below)
*Ex: Inspiration of Agility: +Recharge, +Movement Rate
*EX: Inspiration of Durability: +Max HPs, +Resistance (all)
Nemesis Power Rewards (Duration and Use)
A) I believe when claimed, the game should reference the global Oroborus value of all your characters on which to calculate the powers duration and use. Yes, you will see a reduction in duration and use of the powers as new content comes in which you don't play.
B) Team Powers should provide more duration and use to make them desirable over something like claiming your own Ally (max duration of 10 minutes at 100% content?).
Thanx if you read through all this. Hopefully, not a crappy idea and maybe it will trigger a better one.
PEACE! -
Videos I recorded from the game. Figured it out, though. I didn't realize my in-game video settings affected the quality of the video in the .cohdemo playback. :/ Thanx anyhow Zloth and thanx for creating the CoHDemoLauncher. It helped me tremendously in my first full length video now on YouTube (shameless plug) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tl34iS3nvCo

I had just gotten to the point where I understood how to edit Demos pretty good, but then all the sudden playing them back no longer shows power effects (such as fire shield, dark blast, etc). The Auras still show in demos, but not the power effects.
Any help as to what the issue could be and how to remedy it would be appreciated.
If it helps, I use Windows Vista. Not sure what other info would be helpful. -
I am all for the change. My Level 41 Stone Tanker would welcome it.
If the size growth is an issue with people, maybe retain +size as part of the power?
I could care less either way as far as the size increase.
With Power Customization soon in effect, I vote that it's time to do away with "Hey, every Stone Tanker's Granite Armor looks the same!" -
I heard some Nerd talk in here...
Making it sure it wasn't some Ogre.
Carry on...
Hey! Why does my signature suck so bad? -
*runs nekkid through the thread with Force Bubble up*
The viewers are all scattered and scarred for life!
*is kicked off boards by Tanker* -
1 of 3 things can happen for me to play another online game.
1) City of Heroes shuts down.
2) A true to the PnP Shadowrun MMORPG is created (.000009% chance of ever happening)
3) My death.*please don't start scheming*

Well, I must say I'm gonna miss seeing your chatter in channel. I know I am a bit quiet and reserved at times, but you're one of the ones who normally got me wishing I did talk more in the channel (formerly Mr. Johnson global).
I still feel bad about the one time I snapped at Terrorizer(?) I believe when I had an extremely bad day with something related to what was said, but I really, really, really enjoy you members of the Guardian Channel. As much as I love this game, I don't know if I'd still be here without that Channel.... honestly. -

The Praetorian Name thing is interesting. Let's look at some examples:
Statesman == Tyrant
Back Alley Brawler == Marauder
Positron == Anti-Matter
Mynx == Bobcat
So, in general, the Praetorian Name of a character is a reflection of their current name, but with a more...aggressive, sinister twist.
Given that:
Castle == Checkmate
[/ QUOTE ]
About 10 years ago I had a sci-fi story laid out where the main character's name was Castle, not because of chess but because he was so brutally straight-forward he was given that nick-name.
I made one enemy of his from a gang go by the name "Writhe" as a play on words from that, because he was manipulative as all out. -
I'm sorry I don't frequent or post on the boards that much, but I gotta say SinnerSaint... you have NOTHING BUT PRAYERS from me. As much as I try to be all macho n' crap at times, I have a weak spot for kids and it saddens me when the misfortunes of life strike them early.
I don't know if you've posted any updates with her status, but going to check now. Will be praying for your daughter in the meantime.
Hope you try to stay positive through this and God bless...
(added after reading updates from original post: yea, I'm that infrequent here)
So glad to see things are going so much better with Anna. I'm going to continue to pray that she grows up healthy and this incident is behind her. -
Removed due to loss of XP on many custom mobs.

I could go for this as well, a small quality of life improvement.
/e or /em or /emote would: attempt to trigger an animation (never displaying text)

The Saga is going to be a cause & effect....
Heroic on odd numbers
Villainous on even numbers
Without saying too much, the Hero's existence is the cause of the conflict. The "Hero" is trying to save themselves and prevent something catastrophic from happening.
While the villain's existence drives the conflict. The "Villain" is proving themselves vital enough to be feared by all and ensure that the catastrophic event does occur.
The reason for this video is only to draw interest as to 'what's this "Saga" about?' and not provide answers too quickly on who is who and what is what. Plus with only 3 story slots, it's something to reference back on if you jump in later in the Saga.
And the whole attempted hook with the video is the lines...
"I'll try to contact their target again"
followed by...
"Assassin, the time has come"
Their target is YOU! -
Normally, I loathe trying to promote anything I do as I usually make videos just to tune up my self-proclaimed mediocre skills since I've yet to really mess with or figure out CoH Demo Editing. But I'm slightly proud of my latest creation on YouTube for a series I plan on starting up with Issue 15.
The focal point is the player playing the missions, who gets caught up in between my friends & I rival SGs and a fictional rogue mage faction with random appearances of in-game NPCs and mimiced random Guardian characters (that is legit to do, right?). I've ran them on live for a short term up to Episode 8, but with the improvements coming in Issue 15... I really wanted to reload them with the custom power selections, etc.
Anyhoo... if any one cares to stop by and check out the less than 2 min vid teaser trailer I made for it and lemme know if it's too much or lame or whatever, I'd appreciate it. All I can tell you in advance is, yea.. I do the voices and it's an attempt at something dark and dramatic.
The Guardian Saga
Thanx in advance... -
What did you have in it for them to take it down (third party)?
-
*votes for NoobTube*
And heyaz again Star_Dancer....
Thanx again for the feedback... I have gone back and reworked/remixed the City Guide video series I'm working on.
1) Previous Part 1 (roughly 9 mins) is now broken into 4 more detailed segments labeled Issue 1.0 - 1.3 (roughly 2 mins).
2) Added some character video for Issue 1 to go with the interface video.
3) Reduced main intro time (think it was roughly 1:30?) to I believe roughly 30 secs now (deleted info will now be at the end of Issue 1.3)
I'm extremely happy with it's current direction of how it's segmented and focused more. I've got a ton of ideas and work to do down the road, but I'm having fun doing it. Hopefully it will continue to be both informative and entertaining as it goes on...
(link to revised video on signature and 1.1 is uploading now)
PEACE! -
It's these types of videos made by CoX players that inspire me to go ahead and try my hand at them.
*thumbs up* -
Thank you so much for the feedback Star_Dancer... a few comments you made were exactly what I was thinking...
[ QUOTE ]
Just reposition the mic (or use something other than a headset) next time.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, I didn't use a headset. I have a Sony hand-held microphone. The sound got messed up on the upload it seems... as did a glitch about halfway thru the video.
[ QUOTE ]
Long video. I try to limit mine to around 5 minutes.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was actually thinking I may go back and break it up into 2 segments. 1) Character Creation and 2) Costume Creator with more of a time frame of 5 minutes each instead.
[ QUOTE ]
Long intro credits
[/ QUOTE ]
This is planned as a 1 time intro credits. When all is said and done I've planned for this crazy story about the characters to end up being like a movie (just broken into segments). So, where it currently says "Part 1: Character Creation" is where every segment hereafter will start off.
[ QUOTE ]
You spent a lot of time selecting and re-selecting costume parts and colors. While that does give extra time for the witty banter, it detracts from the idea of introducing a neophyte to the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Again, I couldn't agree with you more. That comment pretty much secured that I will edit that area of the video.
[ QUOTE ]
You used some game terminology that won't make sense to your target audience - people that don't already play CoX. They don't know what the various powersets represent, nor what a archetype is. Better to either explain the terms the first time you use them or use terminology that newbies will understand without an explanation.
[/ QUOTE ]
Again, I do agree there. And when I do go back and remix it here this week... hopefully I can make it more "neophyte" friendly while still interesting to a seasoned CoX player.
As long as I'm playing CoX, I plan on going back and updating various segments (such as the now Part 2: Costume Creator for Issue 13's new Save/Load feature) as the game is updated. I've been playing since Beta (minus a 10 month hiatus after my friends coaxed me into leaving after ED) and I'm having more fun with the game now more than ever... and I don't forsee myself going anywhere anytime soon. (Plus I want to help get people here instead of being lured into Champions :P )
Again, thanx so much for the feedback... it is greatly appreciated.
And anyone else out there making CoX vids... I'm often browsing thru YouTube's CoX videos... some of you guys blow me away.
PEACE! -
For a while now I've been wanting to make some CoX vids like others have made that are out there on the web, but I didn't want to make it too professional or too cheesy.
I came up with Part 1 this weekend for my SupaNerd's City Guide series.
If anyone feels like stopping by (roughly 10 min vid) and giving me feedback on if I should continue or abandon the planned series, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I know I haven't post on the boards much in my long run of CoX... I more a browser than a poster... but I am looking to finally get more active in the CoX community.
Thanx in advance... -
Whoa, now I feel like dork. 4+ years here and I didn't know we had a Multimedia section.... thanx!

Hey Posi (or whoever is in command of these Day Jobs)...
Hearing all the clamoring about 30 days OFFLINE being too long to acquire a Day Job Badge...
And going off your quote of... [ QUOTE ]
And the 30 days is what we are initially going with. The values may change in beta.
[/ QUOTE ]
Would this be a possible happier medium for casual and hardcore gamers (and is it possible)?...
For every ONE second logged off... you get ONE second towards the Day Job badge (based on where you logged at)
For every TEN seconds logged in... you get ONE second towards the Day Job badge of your last log out location?
So, in 4 hours of Log Off... you'd get 4 hours towards badge...
And in 4 hours of Log In... you'd get 24 minutes towards the badge...
Just a suggestion to NOT promote NOT playing CoX and your favorite toon (especially if they are a badge hunter)...
