I also forgot to add, its not just the fx that causes the issues, round shields will not change beyond one colour, yet cavalier shields and kite shields are fine.
All emblems however only accept one colour on shields, yet the same emblems on a chest placement take two. I really have no idea what to do lol, especially since i know nothing about upgrading laptops and cant really afford to start messing around with it to change the 3d card. -
Ok i got a league member to make a new shield charecter with two colours on tech shield just to test, all I saw was dark red, which was completly wrong since he picked black and neon blue lol.
Just to confirm the black wasnt actually a dark red i had another sg member check it as well, he said it was definately black.
Either way it definately seems as though its graphical now since i already reinstalled files. Its still very strange why it can display the fx, yet it wont use the colours correctly. -
Quote:The video drivers were direct from the nvidea site, so no idea why its not picking up, but i will try again and redownload just in case.Something is boogedy in your video drivers. CoH Helper isn't registering them at all.
Additionally, your graphics card is incredibly, incredibly old (2002, which by video card standards is ancient). I would not be surprised if your system simply can't render the shields.
edit: If you see another shield user, are they also primary-primary instead of primary-secondary?
As i said, i know my 3d card is rubbish, but the fact it actually does show them as a primary colour means they can be rendered, its just refusing to lol.
As for the other shield users.... I havent actually seen any to find out lol. Il have to go hunt -
Just picked something up...
Shader Detail: Lowest
That could possibly be causing it? I cant change the option for it in game because its greyed out, and tweakCoH doesnt work either i just tried it. Any other way to directly force a higher setting?
EDIT: Nevermind, TweakCoH did change it, but its still having no effect to the shields. I checked on in game options and it still says N/A for it, but in the actual registry information its set to highest. So either thats the problem and I cant change it, or its something else and im wrong. Either way, its not looking good -
Also I would like to clarify that those pictures on the costume editor were not taken at the tailor, they were taken on the starting new charecter screen so its definately not SG colours doing it.
-
Quote:Tech shield and the others can be processed clearly because if i change the primary colour, the fx display correctly, just in the primary colour only. Screenies to show you what i mean:Hum.. it's possible that the tech shield FX cannot be processed by your graphic card. Since we don't know what card you have I'm guessing.
also maybe the graphic settings are not set correctly ( too low or a setting your card can't support).
Could you make a screenshot of what you see ? We might understand more with a picture. Also knowing your card and settings could help ( try COHHelper to get that information easily)

You can quite clearly see the fx are there, there just being recoloured by the primary colour. Its very frustrating, I expected it to be a file problem but the reinstall didnt help at all.
Nevertheless, il paste my info from cohhelper as you requested, i know my 3d card is a pile of crap but its on a laptop and does the job just about lol.
Also just to clarify, i know the drivers state that its 420 MX whilst my actual 3d card is 420 GO, I was using the original drivers for the 420 GO before and still had the same issue, i thought if i updated the drivers it might fix the issue, these drivers are compatible with the hardware I checked this before i installed and the only reason i use them is because toshiba stopped making new drivers for the 420 GO but 420 MX is still on the nvidea site.
There basically the same chip its just the 420GO is toshibas version of the same thing.

Quote:yeah i did, but thats how its acting with every colour.Pred, did you try a different Primary colour?
There was an bug a while back involving red and green, where one of the colours would override the other.
If i set red primary and white secondary for instance i get red secondary and primary displayed, the fx displays fine though its just red. Its only using the primary colour all the time.
Regardless of colour this happens.
I did notice something very strange earlier though, on round shields 'reinforced' option a small very faint line appears like shadow around where the colours are supposed to change, but it actually doesnt. -

Thanks for the linky but my brain hurts now lol. -
Quick question, anyone know exactly how DR is calculated?
If i had 80% resists on mids with tanker, what would that become after DR roughly? Im trying to get a good idea of how to work out the numbers properly since mids cant do it. -
remove exp fully from AE = problems solved :P
-
I think the reason they havent done it yet is because of pvp, imagine all the pvpers dressing as NPCs to disguise themselves then jumping a player?
Other than that and the devs wanting to keep groups unique is the only reasons i can think of they havent done it.
Costume parts for NPCs really should be added, even a super booster pack with them in people would buy it. They made PPD costumes and civilians, why not everything else? -
The set would be either really weak, or really overpowered anyway. -Resists on a melee charecter?
They would have to balance damage against the -res feature with the damage, which would make it the weakest damage set there is outside of teams, that goes against what scrappers were designed to do for one, and stalkers too. Tanker, possibly but its stepping into debuffing boundaries of other sets which isnt good.
The set on a whole would be no different than broadsword or katana to look at, with a shiny sword so why not save time and just make a costume option for one of those with a laser sword? its not much different than talsorian blades as it is. -
Quote:Well for the short vest, theres already one on female models, theres no option for males though, i see your point with that.
My point being though, aside from a flying carpet power I dont think a lot of players would buy it just for a selection of turbans and sashs etc, it lacks anything super about it. You may as well just have a civilian pack with a load of regular costume parts in, that might sell. -
Quote:I did realise they come up often, but not often about getting it as a blaster secondary thats why i mentioned it.We get these so often it feels like we should put a sticky about them.
I dont understand why people are so against it on the boards, since the amount of players who actually want a gun/sword charecter in game is staggering. People seem much more likely to say the idea is bad because they cant see how it would be reworked, Im not saying its set in stone that it HAS to be a carbon copy of scrappers version, but it could use a lot of the animations it has and rename the powers and effects.
Plus it would give the devs a way to bring spark blade inlol.
-
Quote:I do see your point with this i really do, but its not like it couldnt be reworked for a blaster set if manipulation was what they were aiming for. Theres plenty of options for a manipulation based set just from how you strike the enemy, as mentioned above 'severe hamstring' been one, theres also stuff like the -defence already in there as well so it would have usage, it would just be one of those harder sets to use.I hate to rain on parades here... but I believe it's been made quite clear by the developers that they view the melee heavy Energy Manipulation as an aberration in the Blaster Secondaries, and that any future blaster secondaries will be more similar to Psionic Manipulation with less melee attacks and more blasting / status type effects to better fit the whole MANIPULATION aspect.
While the developers have not explicitly eliminated sword type weapons from coming to Blaster Secondary sets, the case is similar to Whips going outside of Masterminds. The developers won't say never... but it's pretty far down the list.
It would just make sense to use an idea already in game, already with animations there set up and just rework it to fit the manipulation set. -
Quote:Basically i see it as a set with extra damage and little manipulation ability because of it, which isnt such a terrible thing. You could give it a token manipulation power instead of parry, something along the lines of 'severe hamstring' for a slow of something of that catagory. And Broadsword and Katana would fit the underlying theme of blaster secondaries HOW exactly?
Since you mentioned that the only power that would need changing is Parry, I can only assume you just want a straight port of the sets.
What about some kind of mitigation? Control? Anything aside from more attacks? No mention made of that at all. Dual Pistols/Broadsword (aside from spawning so many Dante wannabes it's not evenfunny) would be so slot hungry you'd have to either gimp half your attacks or skip them entirely. Add in the fact that you would get zero added survivability and you have a recipe for disaster.
And that's not even mentioning the fact that a sword is not the first thing that springs to mind when I think "blaster", and I'd imagine a lot of other people are the same.
So, no, bad idea.
It would still be possible to get some damage mitigation from primarys if you wanted anyway, yes its going to be harder to use than other blasters sets, but its also going to be more rewarding.
Just because you imagine people making dante clones thats not enough reason to ban a set, you could say that about so many other sets like dual pistols for instance ss/inv spawning superman clones. Its going to happen with any set that takes a hero/villains powers either way.
As for gimping slots... well scrappers manage it fine and they have all there secondary pools to slot as well :P skipping attacks is common with any set, there arent many people i know that take any powers in energy manipulation other that build up, conserve power, boost range and total focus, yet its one of, if not the most popular blaster secondary.
With headsplitter and disembowel in there im pretty sure plenty of players would play it just for having two high powered attacks instead of the one regardless of mitigation, however if you dont like it, dont play it simple as. -

full reinstall did nothing either, its just weird how some work some dont
-
Ok i deleted and redownloaded all the Pigg files and reinstalled all my 3d card drivers from the latest ones off the site just in case, and still get the same bug.
Really out of ideas now. Any suggestions?
Full reinstall going at the minute with game, extreme I know but it really bugs me especially since I want to play a shield charecter. -
I want a strong and pretty brute now... lol
-
Quote:This is probably the funniest post ive read all day thank you for the laugh lol. My sides hurt nowThe Skulz tried to touch me and I pulled out the bat and cracked his jaw. I also looked pretty and STRONG
EA admittedly Ive never played past level 10, mainly because I discovered mids and found so many better things, but war mace ive used on a tanker to 50 and im still unimpressed.
If you play brutes then consider trying a fire or a superstrength charecter if you want something that has power, secondary wise energy is still the worst one lol. -
I agree with everyone here except the OP, why give scrapper ranged powers? surely it would make more sense to give melee powers like katana and broadsword to blasters who the concept actually fits with?
Scrappers - melee /resist/defence/regen based
Blasters - melee/ranged based
The arguement for scrappers with ranged powers completly doesnt fit the archetype at all. Blasters yes, scrappers no im afraid with this idea. -
Quote:I do see the strength of that but 90% of the time the team would just rather pick up someone who is good at the role than have a subpar charecter doing it.The PB can't tank as well as a tanker, blast as well as a blaster, and so on, and so on, and so on. The strength is the ability to do several of these things decently. Short a tank? The PB can do the job decently. Already have a tank on the team? Well then the PB can be a decent blaster in nova. It can even be turned into an ok support character, not on par with a controller or defender but better than blasters, tankers and scrappers.
Quote:It has to do all these things worse than the other ATs if it did them as well and had other options they would be superior to them. Why play a blaster if the Kheld can blast as well and still have dwarf form to tank if needed. Or reversed why have a tank if the PB can do as well but have nova/human forms to do more damage.
Quote:Now in a game were it is so easy to get Alts, and have them be powerful without alot of investment, a jack of all trades suffers greatly. I personally feel this is the biggest problem kheldians face, not that they are bad it is just that an alt will work as well or better in a specific role. It is very easy to simply think well I have an alt that will do this better.
Quote:If the end game of CoX continued to grow the character after the level cap alts would be weaker as most people wouldn't have enough time to play multiple characters up to peak performance. So a kheld used as a main character would be better suited to fill the holes in a team.
Quote:For me I have a reverse problem. Most of my alts now days don't get played alot. I get frustrated that I can't switch what I am doing if it would help the team out. Blasters that keep seeing teammates die because we lack a way to control the spawns ( aggro or actual controls ). A tank on a team with multiple tanks. In lower levels watching the tank die because nobody can support him enough to get him through the fights (higher levels this doesn't seem to happen very often ). Each time something like this comes up I think well if I was on a PB I could switch the role I am filling and the team would do better. This thought process generally leads to me switching to my PB after a very short time.
Never once have I been on a team where I thought theres something one of my charecters cant handle.
Blasters needing controllers isnt a point that peacebringer can fill anyway. It has knockback powers not holds, Warshade however is a different story and that is actually worth playing. -

Any leader who cant figure out what there team is missing and how to fill that slot in the first place isnt very worthy of being the leader in the first place. Sometimes it can be difficult to find certain AT's to fill roles, particularly tankers and healers, this is the time PB would come into play but since many people have alts theres always gonna be someone with a tank or a healer of some kind in the team.
My point still stands, PB's are in fact, pointless and broken. -
I think it would be good to kill exp in AE in all honesty.
If they did that though I would like to see changes brought in to buff AE so it doesnt become obsolete, such as raising the amount of influence/infamy you earn there, particularly upon mission complete, and keep the tickets as they are.
This way players at 50 would still play it as a source of income, yes you are going to get farmers still, but if its only level 50s getting cash, the problem of AE exploit noobs is pretty much solved.
