I recently picked up a new computer, but I can't find my CoH install CD. (Hey, it's been five years.) I hadn't gone to fiddly with my notoriety until today, and I happened to be on a villain.
My stomach hurt after laughing so hard when I realized that you guys are SRSLY telling the truth about the notoriety names! -
I could be wrong, but I'm going to guess that the settings run based off the mission holder, just like they did before.

Yes I just scratched it off. the only reason I tried to use it is because they sent me to the give me money page. They give you no option to do anything but go back a page or give them more money. To me this is just a racket to steal money.
Question: What does trying to use a time card have to do with NCsoft NOT honoring the boxed version and letting me have the time I paid for when I bought the game?

If you're positive the time card hasn't been used and you're entering it correctly and still getting "invalid code" (you are entering it in the right spot, yes?) then your ONLY option is to contact customer support, by phone if it's within your capability to do so.

Yes, if you send them an email you will get an automated response. Make sure you're clear about what you're trying to do... look how long it took us to figure out what the problem was.
"I have a time card, but when I enter it, it says invalid code". Wait for a real person to get back to you rather than the automated response. CS does have the capability of "fixing" code errors. I ran into something similar with a code that had Bs and 8s reversed.
You have to give them time to respond though, and since we're going into a weekend, it likely won't be instantaneously. -

That is what I am trying to do. I just brought up my bro's account in relation to the install. And the fact that he has Coh as a game in his account info. I have set up 2 different "new accounts so far and it's NCsoft saying give us money but you will never play the game response".
Bottom line:
I put in game code.
It takes me to a page wanting money.
I put in game time code from a card my uncle gave me. "Invalid"
Bare minimum I should be able to play without any more money for a few days. Also I have no game in my "account" therefore NCsoft is plain and simple ripping me off. -

The other way is to start a trial acct. Then upgrade that using the code but you may still need a CC or time card to continue. -

You MUST add a credit card or a time card to play (or paypal). Your credit card will not be charged until your free month is up, but you still need to have a payment plan chosen to start.
That little scratch off card isn't a time card, it's the VIP card that registers the game. -

You have an account already. You want to make a second account.
You bought a new, shrink-wrapped GvE physical box to make a second account.
You logged into your master account and chose "use a serial code"
You scratched off the gunk from the VIP card and entered it in, making sure you've got your ducks in a row (S, 5, B, 8, etc), and got back "invalid code".
Do I have this straight so far? -

The game is the same no matter what box you buy or what computer it's on.
Are you talking about the VIP pass with the scratch-off gunk?
Make sure you are getting you O and 0, B and 8, 5 and S straight. -

While it's preferable to have a 100 x 100 avatar, it's not necessary. The forum will automatically smash larger avatars. -

I have trouble finding the balance between "don't kill-steal" and "I have a right to work on my badges too" with the Troll Raves in Skyway. If see another high-level toon there, I don't worry about it much, since neither of us are getting xp, drops, or anything but kill-count. But for lower-level toons, especially teams, I feel guilty wiping out large numbers of the trolls with one blow. On the other hand, it's not fair for me to have to give up the opportunity to work on my badge just because someone else is there too. I mostly try to stay on the far side of the action, avoiding spawns that seem like someone else is also targeting.
