Quote:Agreed, being able to name my main simply Seraph was nice despite bumping into four others who looked nothing like me and based loosely on the same mythos. It did cause me to focus more intently on my main to stand out above the rest.I like what CO has done with names, I dislike just about everything else about CO, and I am deeply saddened about how that game turned out.
But there lies the problem, the game itself just isn't enough for me to enjoy. Lots of interesting mechanics yet killed off due to lack of content and/or implementation of the mechanic itself making the game feel sluggish. -
Quote:Beat FEAR2: Project Origin - Reborn (DLC) Friday morning... interesting. Could of done better but the story did have a wonderful cameo.-grumbles and gently laps at the air as he raises a hand unconsciously to brush his face-
There's no doubt in my mind, Armacham puts Umbrella to shame. xD
See here -
Another poor point on Cryptics behalf... PVP, it's not necessary. The game has no PVP incentive and face it, if you're looking for something competitive; you'd get more out of Guild Wars. Game shouldn't of had it because for the simple reason that it wasn't made for it. If they were, are, going to make villains an expansion... they should of added PVP in then.

I really think the only thing keeping Champions Online a float is that you can really make just about anything. Of course the issue there is that somethings look great on paper but fail at practice; the freedom is still there when it comes to choosing your character's traits and abilities.
Never will Seraph be Seraph in CoX like he can be in CO at this rate. But there's the problem, there's just nothing too exciting to do. Maybe it's the shards but there's hardly a RP community and it's hard to come across folks. The content just doesn't hold me enough.
It sucks because Seraph is a gun toke'n (yes I know it's totting) swordmaster-slashing demon slayer just trying to have a good time... there's just nowhere I can take him that I feel he would fit properly. Most of the time I'm either fighting Viper (think Malta more or less) or aliens (Quularr) or even giant veloceraptors.... there's mysticism here and there, dealings with occults but compared to the rest, feels to me there's just not enough.
I think DCUO is going to beat it. If there's one thing SoE does right, it's the faction system some of their games hold. And since, according to the E3 showing, we'll be able to make Villains and have stuff to run them through; this already puts DCUO as a challenging competitor. Cryptic is pretty much repeating similar mistakes they've done here. One moment they give us something good and the next... take it away.
At this point it's clear to assume that CO is just a resource to funnel money into their STO project. They've known the IP long enough to incorporate some of their own ideas, making development that much faster and in doing so created a half game in hopes that people paying will get the lifetub sub so they can retrofit it to their STO IP.
Quote:To be honest, the NGE version for EQ2 actually did the game more justice. SoE can create some fun games but it just depends how focused they are on the project. I enjoyed EQ until it became expansion quest where every month, so it felt, we're on a new adventure trying to beat the next learning curve. They way I see SOE is along the lines of 'fool me once (EQ) shame on you, fool me twice (SW:G) shame on me.' Whether they produce or run a game, I will not be fooled again.
Of course what ticked me off about EQ2 was how they butchered the world itself Lore wise, transforming everything I used to know into islands or how they completely destroyed Kunark (level 50+ expansion pack now) when I remember starting at level 1 on my Iksar and venturing through Field of Bone. Then of course Estate of Unrest used to be a famous level 20-30 haunted mansion which in EQ2 you couldn't enjoy until after you were level 70.
And then the faction system changed. Because they were trying too hard to compete against WoW's alliance vs horde, so the good / evil became the new theme where as in EQ there was always two sides to each coin, the Iksars were hated by everyone for example so it felt accomplishing to go out and end up being welcomed in Qeynos (human, elves, half elves goody city).
Anyways SoE does do a good job as long as they're focused. The issue I always had with them is they wouldn't actually change something unless they saw their player base leaving, which meant they wouldn't really change anything unless they had to; so if they had the players they wouldn't care what needed to be nerfed/buffed. -
I might see it
You'd have to bribe me, what's it worth to ya?

Yay off to bed. Getting stoked about FEAR2's DLC, MW2, and L4D2
-
Bah that's silly, I've met plenty of folks try to speak l33t. Then again it was mostly oocly and joking, RPing is more for tangible speeches and the sort.

Meh I only watch True Blood because I'm bored so I can't imagine willing myself to read the books. I just don't find vampires fun at all, they're boring and overrated to me. Werewolves are a different story, I'm waiting for a good movie to do them justice.
Although watching a particular vampire fry did look cooler than say last season where Jason's vampire friend got staked. So they've improved graphics slightly which is nice. -
It's ok, my demonized blood protects me and regenerates any lost portions. In return I unleash a hellstorm of demonic energy infused bullets down onto the next little cretin. Die hellspawn!

Quote:Actually not a single bit was scary. The preview of the next movie Mila is going to play in (based on true occurances supposedly) with everyone seeing the odd white owl... was more scary than any part in D9.your the fourth person whos opinions i trust says its a good one now i gotta go see it...one question was it scary? i dont like scary sci fi
if lot of gore and violence ill skip it i get enough of that irl
There's parts you can say, "That's inhumane" but yeah like Tech said, it's more gory. There was a few messed up parts which kind of made you sad... I think official critics out there got the right idea, "You found yourself rooting for the Prawn." There's was a few jacked up stuff going on at once. -
Agreed, if you look at this from your typical Summer blockbuster hit, this'll exceed your expectations as it did for me. I wasn't expecting anything philosophical or mind blowing, therefore I was generally pleased with it. It's a good movie and clearly there'll be a sequel I think.
Chris made a promise, I'd hate to see him forget about it. -
It means about 45 mins ago I just back from getting off my *** about 3 hours ago and went out to see District 9.
I recommend it, it's exactly what a summer flick worth seeing is all about. If you're looking for elaborate plots or movies that really heighten your preferences; probably not something you want to see. Lots of explosions, gore, little bit of drama... I thought it was worth it.
Not sure if I would recommend Peter Jackson for taking a go at Halo, depending who is doing it now, but the graphics they used for the Prawn would definitely fit the Shangali (elites from the franchise).
8 Jackpots out of 10 in my book. -
The whole reason for seeing the movie is Snake Eyes, to hell with the rest of the boring material.
-
Keep the days comin. I need the money and MW2!!! :P
Maybe L4D2 as well but that's gunna be a long while. -
Usually public confrontations are frowned upon. It would actually make you look worse than you'd think and probably lead to flame wars that would ultimately get nothing done. It's best to be subtle, get right to the point. If someone says something negative, you ask them to stop, if they refuse and carry it on, then you /ignore.

Finally found a thread.
I do support the vote, if there is one, to be able to delete reputation. Now I'm fully aware people may not like what I say and I support fighting to the death for their right to say it. But this is just spelling disaster, trolls can say anything or spam you. That much I don't care for. A red marked comment with lol doesn't say much. Let alone people getting outraged by something one says, I mean if I say something that offends you then talk to me about it don't attack me out of ignorance.
This system is similar to what Bioware has for SWTOR and they've avoided the rep function for precisely this sort of thing. Because spam isn't necessary, luckily though visitors can't see it thankfully. But otherwise some solutions: Remove it, allow the user to delete said comments, and names should be tied to the comments so it's not anon.
The anon also saves the commentor/suspect because they can say whatever offensive material they like and can't be ignored/reported. This is going to be exploited by trolls.
Quote:Meh I think it can do quite the contrary. At least right now it's set to private although there's a bar under your total posts indicating a color. If a troll manages to spam you with offensive and or meaningless material, you could goto a section where nobody knows you and you may have a red square (or multiple ones) and people will no doubt look at it. I think it's counter productive especially since the rep is anonymous.I'm not too keen on the reputation idea. Doesn't do anything, and if it did I'd be pretty vocal about it. Since it doesn't do anything, I just play with it. That and the tags. Going to see how long I can go adding ridiculous tags to everything before I get scolded by a mod. -
Quote:He said he was "looking at pictures of naked children" (and again, I sincerely doubt that this was at all a factual statement. However...)
Pictures of naked children may or may not be child pornography, depending entirely on the context and situation of the photo. My mom has pictures of me as a little kid in the bath. They're not pornographic in the least. Merely embarassing.
Which is indeed a possibility of it's own no doubt. I do believe people tend to jump to conclusions out of defense. That could of very well been the case of said individual, commenting how parents enjoy taking snap shots of babies which to the person who once was the child was embarrassing. Clarity can work wonders.
Quote:And this is different from "I wanna shoot people with an assault rifle!" "I wanna rob a bank!" "I wanna join a facist oppressive regime!" or "I want to beat people up with a Mace!" HOW exactly?
Because if thinking those sorts of things indicates a real urge to do those sorts of things, everyone redside and quite a few blueside are totally sick people who should be locked up. -
Still beta, can anybody swing by and grab it?
OT: Ya know, I find these rep system to be annoying. For the most part they shouldn't be anon. -

I don't condone to reporting from the get go. It's ignorant and naive to do so, simply ignoring them is the better alternative I think. Mainly because some subject matter I may discuss can be offensive and I don't care because I'm the open minded type of person that likes to discuss controversial contact and critique it a bit. Yet I mean no ill harm by it and after a moment the conversation moves on anyways. If it's persistent however, aligning with harassment then you did give the person a warning and two at that to suggest him backing off.
Quote:Yeah, the little gargoyles. Spawns of the fiery pits of hell to drive our lives miserable. And it comes back at four and in the teens. Like the common cold.I almost laughed out loud at this part. Sweet and innocent babies? Give me a break. Kids are nothing more than reflections of society with primitive logical capacity, they can be just as malicious and bitter as any adult can, in some cases, worse. I think you need to get out more and re-examine your biases.
Sweet and innocent. Wow.
