Vetspecs, freespecs, etc. There's no need to. For me it has nothing to do with "tedium."

If your build is so messed up that you can't complete a respec trial, then you need to do one of two things: re-roll if the character is below level 10,

  2. The space is there for characters who DO have problems (and need the respec.) So just shortening it globally would be a bad idea, IMHO.

Giving us some way to say "We're ready" (with a random time between *RIGHT NOW* and, say, a minute later) wouldn't hurt, though. Or give us something to do in between, like redesign it slightly so you have to do something to repair the reactor (have it damaging itself, the belts only temporarily shore it up, you have to do XYZ to undo enemy and reactor damage.)

If upping the difficulty gave a significant shift in rewards or even (perish the thought) dropped threads instead of shards, there might be some interest at running at that difficulty. As it is, the people I have encountered only want to race through it for the merits or kerbstomp as many white conning minions as possible for shard drops.
I'd kind of like to see that as part of what I mentioned in the OP.

Run regular content? Incarnate powers are toned down. Still strong, yes, still worth the effort, yes, but toned down. Highest rewards are shards and merits.

If, say, half (or more) of the team have Incarnate slots unlocked, the "Incarnate level" option becomes available. Incarnate powers run at full blast, but the enemies are more (not hideously more, but more) resistant, or have a "level shift" of their own of a level, or their buffs/debuffs are stronger, and they can get up to threads dropping (or whatever's felt to be appropriate.)

Incarnate content, of course (Apex/Tin Mage and trials) of course are as they are now.

And I will usually announce the formation of the team with something like "Level 40 (hero tips/radio missions/arc missions/whatever) team has room for 7. All ATs and level ranges welcome."

I will do that in Broadcast and then the various global teaming channels. But ultimately, I either end up soloing or logging off and going off to play an actual single player game on one of my consoles, when there are no takers whatsoever and it seems all the teams are newbie sewer runs or Incarnate Trials, or yet another Speed ITF.
Yeah... and I'm waiting for sewer runs to not be the new shiny there. Some people run those *way* too long, IMHO.

I tend to want to find a balance, though. I mean, I'm complaining about not feeling like I'm contributing to a team - I want to bring people along who aren't going to be *so* low they don't feel like they're doing anything, either (or, flip side, just want to sit back and be PL'd.) Unfortunately, some of the times I play can make it rather difficult. And some of what I put in the OP has, frankly, started making me not log on as much.
  5. Yeah, I am. Not the trials, though those have gotten dull. Not the "Trial vs Solo" content or the rather boring Tyrant and the Well storyline.

What I mean is the seeming lack of being able to play once I hit the high 40s unless I solo. Yes, I can team, and try to. I may even be able to use a power once in a while. But most of the time it feels like "OK, judgement. Now you use judgement. Now judgement #3. Oh, another judgement. Hey, the first one's recharged. Yo, judgement. OK, judgement. LOLJudgement." No "Hey, this can be tricky if you get that other group up top" - nope, just Judgement, Judgement, Judgement.

Meanwhile I'm trying to self-buff, or use them to buff the team, or, oh, I don't know, USE one of my powers before everything's dead. It's rare for me to have a non-Incarnate team (or a team with just one, say.)

And it's not just judgement. Why bring a buffer along when someone can just fire off one of their Destiny powers?

And yeah, I can (and used to) ask for people not to - which led on rare occasion to someone not, but usually someone dropping team or making snide remarks. Well, y'know, I'm sorry but I actually do want to use *my* character's powers on my own arcs, not sit back and watch as other people nuke spawns one after the other. If that's all I wanted, I'd find a PL farm and sit at the door. Or, for another example, I do want to actually feel like I'm actually contributing more than another body on an ITF.

We know the devs can disable stuff in non-Incarnate arcs. Why weren't these brought down to a somewhat lower-but-still-powerful level outside of Incarnate trials/arcs? We'd still be "more powerful," but to a more reasonable level in non-Incarnate content.

Really, these are just making the high-end game less fun for me. I've started parking characters in the 40s, or just soloing and ignoreing strike/task forces. And that's frustrating.

I kind of hope, with people going premium, that the situation gets better, but right now it's just really, really annoying.

    /venting off.

    Longer Bios

I'm with the "Keep it shorter" crowd. You can do it without gutting what you're trying to say by sacrificing the unimportant things - really, I don't care that your character is supposed to be 5'5 1/2, etc, etc. If it's something that can't be done in game and is important, a quick description ("Has orange streak in hair" if that's what matters or is supposed to be "eye catching" or whatnot) is fine. I've seen THAT pulled out into a very tedious paragraph, though.

Write something that tells me the guts of your character. If you need to write a story, there are all sorts of free websites, blogs and the like you can fire up and do it in. Throw a link there.
  7. Not sure why you'd think we stopped being "chosen ones." Villains are railroaded along that even if they start as heroes or Praetorians. Then everyone gets railroaded through the Well 'storyline.' Your concepts mean nothing, citizen.

As far as we've been told, just the badge for beating lord winter. The merit rewards and candy cane salvage are easily (and much more readily) earned in other events. Solo and small team players will still have the Ski Chalet and Father Time, plus general present opening. There is no other unique or 'needed' rewards or content being missed out on except the specific raid style boss fight and badge denoting such.

It really seems to me people are just taking exception to the system in general rather than the specific event.
While it's true people are taking an exception to the system (the LFG tool and all its problems,) they're also taking exception to the higher requirements now put on doing the task.

And as far as the "what are you missing out on?" Well, let me put it this way.

So what if you can't get to your favorite band's farewell concert? What are you missing out on? You've probably heard the music they're going to play already, you drive places anyway, and you can get beer anytime you want, right? So why would you care if you missed it?

Not everyone plays for the shinies. Some of us want to play as much of what makes up the "event" as possible. We want to participate. Having the bar raised higher for no good reason (other than, apparently, forcing people into the LFG queue) makes the entire thing *less fun.*
  12. I might have missed this in a quick skim, but has anyone considered that, if they make the enhancements cheaper, they might reduce the sell price as well? Which wouldn't help.

As it is, I don't think it's all that difficult now.

    Advice to new player:
    - Sell your TOs. Don't buy any of them.
    - Sell the DOs you can't use. Use your map to find the correct store.
    - Start paying attention to what groups drop what. If they drop stuff of your origin, try to fight them more (in newspapers.)

Hmm. Same advice I was given when I started, before we had inventions or markets. Worked then. Works now.

When I made newbie mistakes (when I was, y'know, a newbie,) trying to do things like fully fill up on TOs, getting new ones each time I had a new power and stuff, yeah, money was hard to keep up on and it was hard to slot. When someone told me the things I have under "Advice to a new player," it became worlds easier. I don't believe I ever had a problem after that. I may have gone a level or two with an empty slot, but that really didn't hurt.

It's not hard to "kit out" a character at all when you either find out or have someone tell you those three bits.
  14. Go to a trainer. Switch to a second build. (Assuming it isn't using mace mastery. If you have one and it is, and you're an incarnate, go to your third build.)

When you go back to the tailor, you should be able to make your costume changes.

    Yes, it's annoying.
  15. I'd like to see the minimum number required to start dropped a bit to something that can be done with a single team (6-8.) I don't mind that it requires a team because it has a GM in it. But when it goes live, we'll have a spike of people running it the first few days, then it'll peter out. (And I don't care that I can "go skiing while I wait." The novelty wears off fairly fast.)

My main feeling is, this is a limited time event, it should be open to as many people throughout its run as possible, and there are times in the wee hours that, no, I *can't* get 12 or more people interested - but that's when I have the time to play.
  16. I know, that's why I'm venting here.

My response to them was simply: "This account *is* VIP." And a copy of my account status page showing VIP through Nov 16 (so it's not something that "just" updated or anything.)

I'm just (A) irritated that was kicked back so fast with that, (B) irritated it's the second time in less than a month I've been told I'm not VIP, and (C) pointing out a possible overall problem if either I'm not being recognized as one (though none of my slots are locked, etc.) or if the red-star holder is non VIP and screwing up the rest of the SG.
  17. So, I go to my SG base. I have permission to pay rent, etc. Teleporters are off.

OK, it's been a while since I've been to this server. /petition "Power/control off, registrar says rent is paid."

    Their reply?

"This is working as intended. Bases are a VIP feature, you need to have at least one VIP member of the group."

    ...

Yeah. I didn't have to unlock the character, I've got all my server slots, and, oh, look up here:
"Welcome Stormbird. As a VIP Subscriber you enjoy full posting privileges on these forums. "

Now, I don't know if the red-star is VIP still or dropped to premium. I believe they did. But every single rank has rent paying authority.

I admit part of this is a PO'd Stormbird ranting - but if this is because of what I think it is - that the red star holder went premium, which means we're stuck for a while longer - that REALLY needs to be looked into and fixed. Even if it's just support seeing "Red star = premium, the entire SG is considered 'premium,' that needs to be rectified, since that would just be policy as opposed to a technical change.

I will say it sure doesn't make me *want* to stay VIP if this is the "priority support" we get.

    Edit:
I'll also point out that this is not the first time they've screwed up on my status. I've had zero gaps in staying paid up, but recently trying to invite someone to a (different) SG gave me a "You must be reward level 2" error message. So they've got something screwed up, I think.

    2) It would be a good idea to be *fair* and lock one archetype on the Hero side as well.
... except they gave all non epic ATs to both sides at the same time.

Which is why that doesn't really follow, for me, as an excuse.

I am inclined to think Kioshi's at least close, though. I don't know how "server intensive" buff/debuff sets are.
  19. OK, but that's just one power set - and we know they can lock individual ones either by purchase or account level. If Illusion's the culprit, why isn't just *it* locked?
  20. I've been considering letting my account drop to Premium, so I was talking with a friend about what the changes would be.

She reminded me about the AT locks (which shouldn't affect me, I have most of Tier 8, and I THINK I'll keep my epics) and I had to stop to wonder. With all ATs available on all sides, why aren't Dominators locked?

The reason we got for MMs and Controllers is server load. It made sense with masterminds, having to deal with all those pets. But doms and controllers share the same primaries, with the same pets, and I can't see the secondaries being all that different effect-wise. (Assault sets do damage, sure, but they also have various buffs and debuffs.)

So why didn't they lock doms?

Note I'm not asking for them to, and yeah, the cynic in me wants to say "Because Posi plays them."

Or something like that. I mean seriously, those people should get over themselves. Some people want to spend their tickets on costume bits. Those people should be able to do so. If you don't like it, you don't have to look at them doing it.

    Restart AE

It's AE, it'll never happen, but...

MARTy sounds like a good throttle, while leaving the non-over-the-top farms alone. But AE still needs cleaning up.

    I suggest two things:
    1. Redo the AE interface. Have a tab for Dev Choice/Hall of Fame, one for Story Arcs, and yes, one for Farms. They're going to be made anyway, make it a spot away from those who want story arcs (with their own ratings) and gathered for those that want to.
1a. Yeah, redo the rating system, too.

    2. Wipe out all non-Dev Choice arcs. Just start over.

We've got so many dead arcs, broken arcs, broken farms and the like cluttering it up, it's time to do a wipe. It will also let arcs be placed where they'r e"supposed" to go. (Not sure what to do with Players Choice, since there are farms in there, too.)

Yeah, it means actual work on AE, so it won't happen, but still.
  23. I believe they said any teammates using beam will also spread disintigrate. (Non beam won't.)
  24. Haven't looked... do they have barbarian "claws" of some sort as well?

Anyway, more choices = yes, please.
