Glad you're back Manticore. I'm sure that since the oppressive shadow of States has been lifted, your arrows will fly truer and farther than ever before.

You in case anyone hasn't seen it they put out the report for this quater today and once again in comperison to other tittles CoX is on the low side of the bring home. Lineage and lineage II had a tottal of close to $60 mill compared to CoX's $6 mill wonder what they think when we [censored] about so many things on here.
[/ QUOTE ]
Your thinking is flawed on this.
One glaring fact and difference with CoX and the other titles is that CoX has a much more limited release/support than those other titles. For example, CoX isn't supported or marketed in Japan yet the lineage titles are.
I suspect/hope that NC Soft plans to expand their markets and support for CoX. In doing so, its revenue could considerably increase and equal that of the lineage titles. -

Lets get some discussion going on in here.
I am really looking to leverage some community ideas, so lets get some PVP Community focus going and see what as a community will be your prioritized list.
For me:
PVE & PVP build that I can toggle.
Using the kiosks in game for PVP status.
More built in, in game rewards for PVP content.
Oh and an automatic "I win" button because I don't foresee that ever happening, remembers back to one of the PVPEC events where the whole team I was grouped with was there just to make sure I didn't die a hundred times.

1. Cross server arena/pvp zones.
2. PvP rewarded and pvp only usable accolades
3. Objective based arena/zones for the vil/hero side that wins being rewarded merits/salvage/recipe/exp/pvp points for successful completion. Both fast/short and long objective based ones. Also amalgams of various types of objective based/straight pvp.
4. Hrdcore pvp zones/arena.... loss results in perm deletion or perm prevention of continued participation in that zone/arena (and its special benefits)
5. Pvp awarded costume pieces and or designs on them, and title choices.
6. Travel supression removed from some or all pvp zone/arena (hell, whole game would be nice).
7. Special mission contacts in normal zones with special content or rewards unlocked from pvp zone arena battling(not the missions in the pvp zones related but from actuall pvping).
8. Dedicated PvP server(s) with open pvp except in safety areas around the level up/markets etc.
9. Unlockable AT from pvping and pvp related goals. Could be with or without more benefit for pvping/pveing.
10. Cage fights with non pvpers able to bet ingame influence or prestige on winners with the winnings from bets actually being not prestige/influence but points that can be used to purchase/access IOs/recipes/temp powers/costume pieces/etc etc. Thus its a chance purchase system and not outright gambling in the traditional sense. -

There's a distinct lack of DOOM here.
I find that odd, like everyone's walking down the railroad tracks whistling a merry tune...not hearing the "CHOO CHOO" in the distance, getting louder and louder..."
Business change hands in two situations:
First, cos they are new and extremely, unexpectedly successful and a big company snaps them up.
Second, because the end of the business' lifetime is on the horizin and the original owners want to cut and run so they can pursue better things. The new owner then maintains the products until they naturally wind down.
I don't see how anyone could think the first scenario is active here. The kiss of death for an MMO is the moment when people are no longer required to pay a subscription. This isn't *quite* what we have here, but the "opening up both sides to everyone" smacks a little of that idea.
I'll keep an open mind and see what happens, but I'm worried(tm).
[/ QUOTE ]
You'd have a point, except that NCSoft set up an entire new studio just for this game. If this game were on the decline, I somehow doubt that a big multinational company such as NCSoft would set up a new studio for a fading enterprise.
[/ QUOTE ]
Germany set up an entire new government HQ (i.e. undergound bunker) in 1945...
But I'll stop being DOOMish now cos really the headline is:
"SHOCK! CoX under new management! What does this mean?! We have no idea..."
In one way, this COULD be a real positive turning point. For me, the past couple of issues have felt like winding down the franchise, with recycled content and increased depth rather than new breadth to the game. However, this might have just been because everyone knew this change was on the way and didn't want to do anything drastic until after it happened. Thus, the change could very well be a return to great strides of changes and optimistic development.
If you want to determine the "smoothness" of this change, keep an eye out in-game for subtle insults against Statesman.
Can we have the CoP and villain Epic ATs now?

ALOT of people feel the same way...rehashed content is getting on my nerves along with a ton of others
i would suggest issue 12 be huge or else it'll get ugly
since posi is the head guy here...i would suggest he start giving us some heads up on the future plans
no more of this "wait and see" stuff only to be dissappointed again and again
only fair that he starts answering questions about the game since we are the reason they getting a new studio
[/ QUOTE ]
I totally agree with this issue oon recyled content packaged with newspaper funny papers' wrapping. And I call on the new leadership to give some concrete plans to address current ingame issues and as well to give a long projection with firm, not vague information on the direction and expectations of the game. We dont want to see this game go down the tubes and in the manner that autoassault went(though it really wasn't that great of a game to begin with).
If they want to take serious leadership, show plan with transparency. -

Now that I've seen most of what's going on here, I can properly add my two cents. There has been one 'DOOM'sayer on a global channel, who got added to gignore, because every game they played before CoH/CoV were owned by SoE (and they basically killed every game they touched except EQ2. They improved EQ2 from unplayable, actually)
They didn't understand that the franchise was owned by both companies. Now, the franchise is owned by solely NCSoft, with the development house inside NCSoft. More people to work on the project, and to hide some secrets of MUO, and some CoH secrets as well from each other (making two competing games in one building developed by the same people isn't good)
Anyways, that's all that.
Personally, I think this is good news. The dev team remains. The development team can now properly concentrate on the game we all enjoy. Sure, they deserve breaks (and also probably play with us in-game sometimes, we never know because they can't reveal themselves. Well, if they come in-game as their in-game correspondents...)
So, thank you Jack Emmett for allowing NCSoft to purchase the City of franchise. And thank you NCSoft for making the wise decision to allow all of the same developers of the game to remain in the studio to continue making this stellar game. It's the game I play the most these days.

CoX staff are moving to a new place seperate from their former cryptic place. As it should be but it seems they're getting a major fund/staff flush to help compete with Jack E's new benefactor.
As I've said, I've never been a fan of Jack E. My hope is this change facilitates the game beyond what I percieved to be Jack's limiting/"vision".
Im guardedly please with the announcement... we'll see if they're looking to improve/reform or if this is just like a bid for the 2008 presidency :P -

iii) Statesman as the signature character will be determined, if I had my druthers it would be something the Community Team would acquire rights to, one can dream right?
[/ QUOTE ]
States should continue as a signature character - and appear as such in game in missions and taskforces, etc... But he should never appear 'live' again.
But the redname? No, that too should be retired with honor.
That name and character belongs to Jack Emmert (no matter whose IP it legally is), and to see it used as a sockpuppet (no offense, I just cannot think of a better term) is an insult to him and to the collective intelligence of the players.
[/ QUOTE ]
Let it insult away... I've never been a fan of statesman nor his real life counterpart. Sorry.
Thus I hope this whole change really frees up the team to finally let things really open up more. -

*BOGGLE* ...why would they need a 2D/Concept, and "Powers Designer"? Those 2 alone implies ambitions for a lot more New-New content than we've gotten in years. The list taken as a whole is staggering and I have a hard time believing all those resources would be going to Co(X).
[/ QUOTE ]
Im not suprised at all. Cryptic going full throttle with MUO means that NC Soft with CoX finally have to raise the bar if they're going to survive and even thrive against Marvel/cryptic. Hopefully this means more implementation of things people have been wanting for a very long time and a clean up yet other things.
Its still too early to tell, I do have reserved concern that all the "opps's" learned from the CoX "Project" will be put to use on MUO by ole Jack E boi and come up with something that CoX wont be able to compete against.... only time will tell.
One other question I have is whether this means that CoX will be now expanding more into the pacific nations markets giving servers and support for it there. Im sure the Aussie's n Kiwi's would like to see servers in their own time zones. :P I'd certainly like to be able to play with less latency for sure here in Japan. :P -

Issue 12: Statesman is dead!

My long awaited dream has come. -
Why not allow a sub dual blades category selection at creation for choosing sword types?
It would just change the look(skin) of the blades and not the function of them. Some of the sword skins are already in the game so it shouldn't be that difficult to do so I would imagine.
That way people could choose cutlasses, scimitars, etc. -
Here's my take on the problems and some solutions as I see them.
1. PROBLEM: No new character/player guidance=
Unlike villains who get directed to the next island after they have exhausted their missions on Mercy, nwe players get no such direction to Kings Row.
SOLUTION: When a hero gets to level 5, have the game throw up a prompt saying they have the option to head to Kings Row to get their radio.
2. PROBLEM: Robbery Timing System=
Villain version gives 15 minutes solid for the robbery of the bank to be awarded the temp power plus do everything else in the mission. Heroes can fail and be kicked out of the mission in a matter of minutes for not preventing the bank robbery.
Solution: Have the 15 minute timer start the same as villains right when one enters the mission. Instead of having the villains escaping completely to their exit point have it to where a message comes up they've escaped but you can follow them to their "Hideout".
This would prompt for a side mission clickable from their escape point. Any number of hide/base maps could be selected for this. The challenge would be that the hero(es) would have to arrest alot more enemies to get back the money taken. This of course would eat the time down but it would give equal consideration of time found on the villain version of the mission.
3. PROBLEM: Villain perception range/boost=
Their AI makes it really tough to complete or even move around the map.
SOLUTION: Drop the perception range/boost down to normal levels.
4. PROBLEM: : Weapon's Deal and Store Heist rewards for only one person=
This on the villain side as well never seemed fair. Only one person can get the rewards and that doesn't encourage the others to want to participate in the side mission or WORSE that everyone rushes to be the first to click the weapon's rack for the temp power OR similar for the DO with the rescues.
SOLUTION: Have it reward for everyone at the same time the side mission time is awarded. This would change a little bit the dynamics of the Heist mission though and so the Heist would/should award the time after the vault is prevented from being blown and all the hostages are rescued.
5. PROBLEM: "Mission Complete EXIT" message=
This causes untold numbers of people to exit the mission not having known about the other things in the mission remaining to do OR by force of habit doing so on any mission. Its been a problem as well long before on villains side.
SOLUTION: Two things can be done to solve this problem. One is to throw up a message screen explaining about staying in to complete the rest of the mission's activities. An ok to click as well would help to make them stop and think about their next plan of action.
Another would be for only mayhem/safeguards of course and not the other mission types: Clicking the exit button (or truck door). Would throw up a message mentioning all the things to do in the mission etc and an ok to click or a cancel to click.
6. PROBLEM: Rez'd folks at the mission door click and leave by accident=
Since the gurney is so close to the Truck's door for exiting the mission that I've seen more than one person accidently exit the mission from there.
SOLUTION: Move the gurney a bit more away or to the side more from there the Truck is so that this has much less of a chance to happen than is currently going on.
Also, the ok clicking prompt mentioned in #5 would also help this problem too.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
So that's my take on some of the problems though the developers may not see a few of them as problems perse. -
First, Jay needs his own Red Name so he can respond here!!!
Perhaps callem RedJay!
That out of the way,
Villain Costume problems:
1. Bio-organic- Its only one hued with not secondary hue for the veined parts of the the costume. This is in all sections except for some head categories (forget which atm as Im not on the screen.) All other body parts are only single hued.... unlike their hero counterparts.
2. Monsterous leg sets the body ratio with the lower (boot) section and the upper leg sections--- Unbalanced. The joint section is below the knee instead of being the knee. This gives a disproportioned look to the character (double jointed looking as well).
3. Monsterous lower body robotic- Only one huded for the plate parts of it and not the skeleton parts. Huing for that would be appropriate.
4. Robotic claw (gloves)- One hue only as well for theplate part and not the skeletal.
5. Bot crey Torso- Body part not available across the board for all Upper body appropriate sections.
6. Upper leg section and torso- No skeletal robotic on any selection makes a skeletal robotic creation limited.
7. Male Huge Body Type Horns: Morbid horns not available in selection.
8. Lower body tucked in : Malaise pant choice on heroes not available on villains.
Thats it for now. -

Greyhawk?
I was never much of a fan of greyhawk. Now the Iseries modules with Laura and Tracey Hickman's desert of desolation set and the ravenloft modules etc was the best.
My first module as a kid was I2 Tomb of the Lizard King... still got it in storage somewhere hehe. -
ya'll can call that instant crap tasty but until you've had authentic fresh cooked and fresh made ramen... you're all just posers.
Be men and go get some Tan Tan Men. -
Arms folded one hand on the chin in contemplation(deciding the fate of the captured heroe so to speak)
Thumbs down signal
Slit throat gesture
Maniac style rubbing of hands in evil anticipation
Maniac cackles of evil laughter (perhaps hands on hips and leaning back head thrown to the air).
Fit of rage -
Ahh D&D.... I came in playing just before the publishing of Second Edition way back when. First module I ever owned was I2 Tomb of the Lizard King. The "I" module series was one of the best IMO with Laura and Tracy Hickman doing the Desert of Desolation tril, Ravenloft etc in that series. Brings back memories...

In general, Debuffs stack, even debuffs from the same caster and same power on the same target (there may be a few exceptions, but I cant recall any at this moment). All debuffs stack if they come from a different caster, or from the same caster but a different power.
By contract, Buffs from the same caster and the same power on the same target do not stack. However, ALL buffs on one target, will stack if they come from a different caster, or from the same caster but a different power.

Sprry Geko, but your information on buffs needs an amendment there...
Siphon Power stacks both ways. On a good timing of shots I can stack up to 4 times on myself and imps.... and from the same targeted villain. -

Here is my take on this new "freedom badge".
As long as this badge is not linked in any way to any bonus or extra thing that comes with gathering other badges. I have no problem with it.
Otherwise, if it is linked in some manner, then I take issue with it. Stating folks have the "freedom" of choice to take it is not truly "free" if you link it to a need or something else. It would be no different from a now dead political regime that wouldn't allow the citizens of its country to gain good jobs or other securities unless one registered as a member of its political party (I think most of you can guess). You have the "freedom" to choose not to, but you lost alot in return.
Thus, don't make this badge -that- kind of "freedom".
