My father's into the old steam age: trains, boats, that kind of thing. He recently picked up a leaflet for some boat trips nearby.
Once I saw the front of the boat on the leaflet, I had trouble taking my eyes off of it.
It would appear that the resistance are not only operating in the same dimension as me, but are providing boat trips for profit. Probably a bit safer than opposing Emperor Cole, in the very least. -
I believe I remember us being able to stack stuff like that because we made a bit of a noise about it. Once base raids were disabled, there wasn't any real reason not to let us to anymore. We couldn't before because we could theoretically just block doorways and the like.

Quote:Aha! Yes! Thanks a ton, Kitsune; this did the trick. I don't know if it's one or the other, but ticking both boxes has fixed the issue for me.If you enable the option Disable desktop composition or Disable visual themes (in the properties for cityofheroes.exe), does that make any impact on the issue? It might be related to the DWM.

Since I last played, I have patched up my game, and updated my graphics drivers. While I've played today, if I alt-tab out of the game to another window, I can see CoH moving behind my active window. However, when I alt-tab back, my screen will be frozen. The cursor will change appropriately depending on where I hold it (it will change to the window adjust <-> if I hover it over the edge of a window), but other than that nothing moves whatsoever, and the game resembles a screenshot. This seems to fix itself if I alt-tab back out and in to the game again. Restarting my computer does not fix it. Other full-screen programs do not seem to be effected.
Has anybody else had any freezing issues since a particular patch, or any problems with a recent-ish Nvidia driver? Would love to find out what's causing this. -
Quote:You're still getting the system that you've paid for. It's just gonna be delayed a little.I was referring to the content that we will have to pay for. Tip missions are free with I18 IDK about the side switching. Even so more things for L50s to do was a big thing for me with GR with that being cut... well it just feels like I was cheated.

Positron just posted this announcement in the announcement discussion forums. I understand a repost seems a little unnecessary, but I don't know that I definitely would have seen it considering it isn't in the regular announcement section.
Quote:Hey everyone,
I know its been common knowledge for a while that the initial phase of the Incarnate system would be available in City of Heroes: Going Rogue. As you know, Ive been spearheading the End-Game system for City of Heroes, to give players a lot of what theyve been asking for: more powers, greater customization, more epic battles, and most of all, more content to do with their Level 50s.
That last point was something that we got great feedback on in the GR Closed Beta. Even though it was just a sneak peak, the Alpha Slot doesnt benefit the player in a way that we had envisioned it would. Because of this feedback we have decided to act sooner rather than later.
Since Alpha Slot Incarnate Abilities do not exemplar down (and we're not changing that), we find that players end up with Power that has limited use. We recognize that the Alpha Slot experience is something that a lot of you are eagerly awaiting for and we want to make sure that it is awesome, and most of all fun, when we bring the system on-line.
We still want to do an Alpha Slot Sneak Peek, but we want it to happen once more of the system and content are closer to being ready for prime time.
We want to thank everyone who tested and gave their feedback on the Alpha Slot, the drop rates, the costs, and especially how they see the Abilities interacting with their builds, math-wise. Your testing has been invaluable and we have learned a great deal in a short time thanks to you. We now feel that the Alpha Slot and Incarnate Abilities will have a much higher impact when they are ready to be rolled out.
Thats not to say you cant continue to discuss what you have seen in the beta. I encourage the dialogs that you guys have started to continue, and we will continue to read your thoughts and feedback.
We hope this helps you to understand why weve come to this decision and appreciate your patience while we continue making the Alpha Slot and the rest of the Incarnate System the best that it can be. -
I was so confused when I read this. I thought that it was either posted on the wrong place, or that I'd got my invite to closed beta, clicked the thread, and not even noticed where it was.
As others have said, it's nice to see that you care enough to hold it back to make it perfect. I probably wont' be excited about the incarnate system until it's almost in my grasp, but I'm happy to hear this anyway. Thanks for letting us all know. -
I'm another one of those people who read it negatively. I wouldn't have commented on it, and would have just said 'Okay then. Have a nice day.
', but I would have felt the sting anyway.
I have a habit of reading them almost as somebody sighing. Somebody who's saying something because they feel they have to, but really can't be bothered. 'Yeah, I'm coming' says to me that this person wanted to let us know that he's on his way. 'Yeah, I'm coming...' says to me that the person either doesn't want to be on their way, or thinks that we're impatient for asking.
Another way I sometimes read it is someone who feels they're stating the obvious, but that you're too blind to see it. 'Come and get the glowie.' sounds to me like a leader leading his team. He's making it clear what he wants to do. 'Come and get the glowie...' however, sounds like he fully expected you to get the glowie immedietly, but now that you haven't he thinks you're a tad moronic.
I read it perfectly fine as a natural gap in a sentance though. 'We could... do a safeguard?' just sounds like someone thinking to themselves to me, and is just another little part of natural conversation. Unnecessary in text, but I like it anyway. -
Quote:I think they said soon after Going Rogue, although I wouldn't quote me on that. I remember thinking to myself 'I would be happy if they temporarily just updated the models', but then it occured to me that the arcs are currently written as you discovering and investigating Praetoria. After the expansion, we'll be able to visit Praetoria with relative ease, presumingly at level twenty. Discovering it at forty just seems odd.I can't remember where it was stated (I THINK it was one of the con appearances) but the Devs have said they're planning to revamp the existing Pretorian stuff. I also can't remember if it was I18 or I19 (or after) they had targeted for the ravamp.
Either way, I'm hoping that a decent amount of effort goes into the new Portal Corp Praetoria arcs. It should be able to give base game players a taste of what they could have if they bought the expansion, as that could shift a couple more. Hell, I remember playing the current Praetoria stuff years ago and thinking 'I want to explore this dimension further', because I really enjoyed the arcs. If somebody had stepped out from behind something and told me that I could explore that dimension further for a reasonable payment, I would've thrown money at them. With the current arc-writing skill harnessed at Paragon Studios, they should be able to do an even better job. -

Quote:You're correct that only the ten base ATs will be able to start in Praetoria, but Arbegla was talking about playing villainous ATs on the hero side and vice versa.Fourteen? You mean the four EATs? I doubt they'll be SoAs in Praetoria, for storyline reasons. Same thing with Khelds.
Although, it would be nice to have and official word on this. -
Just watched it again (
) and I can't see him besides when David's talking. You sure he's there?
My guess is that we don't know his Primal Counterpart yet, if he has one. He looks like a mutant to me; almost feline. I think he's completely new. -
Just because you enjoy high-population servers, doesn't necessarily mean that I do, or that everyone's computer can handle it. I can see what your'e going for, but it wouldn't suprise me if someone gives the copy and paste 'Reasons not to merge servers' answer. I know that isn't necessarily what you're suggesting, but a lot of the same reasons would fit well here.

Like power customisation, I'm expecting power proliferation to carry on happening as time goes on. I just wasn't expecting any for GR/i18 because they've enough to be getting on with. Being able to take your dark/dark corruptor over to Paragon is great if you want to play a dark corruptor who starts in the Rogue Isles or Praetoria. If people want a dark blaster, they're going to need proliferation.
Also, on the note of costume options: I don't want to sound like the negative one here, but be careful with what you take to be the costume options we're getting. Quite a few of those costumes have been used in Going Rogue footage, and we still don't know what the Alpha and Omega bonus costumes look like. Even if we can be sure that we're getting some costumes with this issue, I don't feel that at this point we can safely seperate i18 and GR costumes just by looking at screenshots. -
Quote:I just went to dig it out. The one I've got is bringing up a 'Cannot Display the Webpage'.If you would like, I can re-ZIP my files and send it to you somehow, if no one else can conjure up that old FTP link.

I'd imagine that if this was the only way to move your alignment, and it was rare enough to be worth complaining about, then it's probably been brought up and been/being dealt with in closed beta.

[Seemingly delayed double-post. That really doesn't help things. Sorry]

I've a Fortunata who is to be renamed 'the Ghost's Shadow' when I get around to it, because she's essentially Ghost Widow's stalker. My Night Widow was originally going to be called Spinerette, but it was taken, so now she's the Scarlet Spinerette. I don't like it though, so I'm looking to rename her, too.
Liking some of the names in here, though. -
Quote:I'm not just purposefully trying to disagree with Dumpleberry, but I'm not seeing this blurring? It may be that I've fallen victim to the very thing that he warns against, but the only part of the announcement that's GR instead of i18 that I'm seeing is the clearly labeled advert for GR at the bottom. There probably will be some people angry, but (and yes, I know it's condescending and rude) I have a tendency to dismiss people that don't know how to read advertising. It's not like we're not inundated in it from near birth. I have no understanding how people don't get how it works.
Edit! I just can't stop talking:
Does anyone else think that the tip system sounds anything like the Archnemesis system that Posi described way back when, but without the Archnemesis? If this does indeed fill that niche, then any Archnemesis system that is implemented is more likely to be the more personal and customisable one that I was hoping for. Woo! I'd dig out Posi's archnemmie system idea myself, but that would involve editing this post to tears, and I need to go do something. More work for someone else. -
Actually, this is something I'd be curious about, too. Is Power Liberator/Master Thief becoming obtainable again with this trial, or is it doomed to be another badge lost in time, along with the anniversary badges and passport?

Quote:The bank thing was just a simple example; don't take my word for that. So, sort of like the Safeguards/Mayhems are set up? I think that's what I'm getting out of this.
But my guess is that the mission itself would have more than one outcome, and how you handled the missions determines how your alignment shifts. If regular players who don't purchase GR can use these tip missions, I don't see why they'd involve the alignment system at all. I'm currently just looking at them as another form of getting a mission. Just like contacts, the police radio, and ouroboros. All speculation, though.
Edited to add:
Quote:well, I say this because I would think that you get two meters, one for a Vigilante and one for a Rogue. As you complete tip missions in a rogue way your meter fills up for rogue or if you complete your mission as a Vigilante, the meter fills up that way leading to a morality mission that will change your alignment in the way that mission is.
