Game freezing when switching between windows

Since I last played, I have patched up my game, and updated my graphics drivers. While I've played today, if I alt-tab out of the game to another window, I can see CoH moving behind my active window. However, when I alt-tab back, my screen will be frozen. The cursor will change appropriately depending on where I hold it (it will change to the window adjust <-> if I hover it over the edge of a window), but other than that nothing moves whatsoever, and the game resembles a screenshot. This seems to fix itself if I alt-tab back out and in to the game again. Restarting my computer does not fix it. Other full-screen programs do not seem to be effected.

Has anybody else had any freezing issues since a particular patch, or any problems with a recent-ish Nvidia driver? Would love to find out what's causing this.

I run a dual monitor setup and this happens every time CoH loses focus to another application. Clicking on the monitor that has CoH running changes nothing, everything remains frozen. Interestingly enough, if I ALT-TAB back to CoH I am ready for play again no problem.

The only suggestion I have for you to try is to try ALT-TABbing into CoH a second time to see if it responds.

I have the same issue for a while, but unfortunately I cannot tell whether it was since a specific game patch or an update of the Nvidia driver.

I do not recall exactly when I got the issue, but I have had it for a few weeks at least.

See, and *THIS* is why I should finish reading a post before responding. You already knew that. Nevermind, nothing to see here.... -=walks away whistling=-

I've got this problem but it has only cropped up since I installed Windows 7. First, it's just the image that freezes. I can use movement keys and hear the character moving around and use number keys to activate power. And when I alt tab to the game window a second time it's fine.

So that's what I do automatically now without even thinking about it. When I alt tab back to coh I skip it the first time through the cycle. Takes less than half a second so I don't even think of it as a problem.

Same exact situation here; I'm not sure if it's because of a game patch or because I upgraded to the latest Nvidia driver since both happened at the same timeframe.

Since I swap windows all the time I've found the only way to avoid this new bug is to run COH windowed on one monitor... the border and taskbar bothers me but it's less bothersome than having to alt-tab twice each time I switch to something on my secondary monitor.

Win7 64 bit
275 GTX 1GB vid card
Latest drivers from Nvidia's site... don't have the # handy.

Aha! Yes! Thanks a ton, Kitsune; this did the trick. I don't know if it's one or the other, but ticking both boxes has fixed the issue for me.

This has been standard behavior for my machine ever since Ultra-Mode went live.

I'm curious to see if this helps me, as well. Thanks in advance if so.

I will have to give that a try when I get home, if so then thanks!

<edit>
Indeed that did solve the problem, I ticked both options and the problem is gone.
