EBIL!!!!
And just FYI, I didn't change my costume for that shot. That's actually what Prof Pyre looks like -- sparkles, scarf, top hat and all! -
[ QUOTE ]
You have a chance to get a PvP IO drop every time you get a kill that awards you rep. That means, basically, one chance per 5 minutes per target (since the recent changes to the rep system). This is for both arena and zone.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's best case scenario atm. After the change that's on the test server goes live, this will be the case in all situations (one chance per target per 5 minutes). -
Yeah, I spent 4 hours farming the arena, got a recipe that some sucker bought for 600m inf! And that wasn't even an accident!
-
[ QUOTE ]
...umm, I still care.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed. "You don't get rich by saving dollars, you get rich by saving pennies." -

Hi Stillhart.
[ QUOTE ]
You're wasting money buying salvage with tickets. You make much more spending your tickets on bronze rolls, selling those, and buying salvage with cash. Saying "salvage is free with tickets" is the exact opposite of what is really the case.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree for the most part. But..... in the case of rare salvage... doing a few AE missions will get me enough tickets for that piece of savage. Running a few regular missions won't get me enough inf.
BC
[/ QUOTE ]
Sure, but your inf per ticket is actually worse on rare salvage than common! 400 for a rare salvage worth is 5 bronze rolls. You MAY get less than 1m inf on 5 bronze rolls, but you'd have to have MY luck to roll that badly. -
Gratz. Also, I hate your luck.
But it is amusing that all the people saving up for LotG, and then saying [censored] it and doing a random roll, actually get it. Luck of the gambler indeed! -
The devs don't read the market forum. The people that do read the market forums are already aware of this situation and have discussed it many many times. Feel free to read up on it and see if your conclusions are correct!

What is usually the trend for purples during 2XP? I've started purpling my two main characters, but I'm going to wait until (hopefully) the drop in price after I16 to do anything more than rely on drops. I've gotten a couple that I don't need that I'm hanging onto for the 2XP weekend. Is it usually better to sell these during or after it? And would the same apply to the other big ticket items, LotG, Miracle, etc...? I've got some merits that I might use for random rolls.
[/ QUOTE ]
My guess is that purples and other high-end stuff isn't going to be much impacted. With purples especially, you need to be 50 to farm (supply side) or use (demand side) them so people leveling new characters aren't going to be affecting the market for them much. -

the point
you seem to have missed it.

I had considered at one point rolling up a toon that would never fight, would just try to level all the way to 50 by dropping a mission every 3 days... but that's even sillier than trying to get a billion with no inf.
[/ QUOTE ]
49 500 or so even con minions to level 50
A mission bonus is what 10 minions (lets be generous and say 20)
at 20 thats a mere 2475 mission drops, or 20.3 years.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't forget arc bonuses! That's gotta drop at LEAST 0.3 years off! :-D -
Can't you get more slots from market badges?

[ QUOTE ]
Ahhh ....not a bad idea ...hmmmm. Is there any other way to get some starter INF? My goal is to have some INF without involving a transfer OR actual fighting (even with XP turned off)
[/ QUOTE ]
The only way I can think of that *might* work is if you can get a fedex or a patrol mission as your first task from your first contact. Then you could complete it with xp gain off, and get a little starter inf. The problem with that plan is I think all of the first missions are preset... I know Azuria has a fedex mission, but it's never the first one she gives you. Not sure if that's the case for all the other starting contacts.
Or, I suppose you could just drop the first mission you get. Then you'll get the completion inf reward with no fighting.
I had considered at one point rolling up a toon that would never fight, would just try to level all the way to 50 by dropping a mission every 3 days... but that's even sillier than trying to get a billion with no inf.
[/ QUOTE ]
Isn't there an exploration badge in the front door of City Hall? Watch out for that XP!! -
[ QUOTE ]
Has anyone ever tried to make 1 Billion with NO XP? Basically roll a new toon and just wal over to WW. Make sure to avoid badges sicne they give XP.
Anyone done it yet?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I did it twice! I just..uhh...forgot to take a SS. >.>
Twice. <.< -

Apparently you don't get 2xp in AE, so I doubt that'll happen, but you never can overestimate the intelligence of the common player.
[/ QUOTE ]
Still,
Did you see this somewhere? I think it is still up in the air right now if AE will give out DXP or not... I was hoping that it did b/c I wanted to level up my fire/shield scrapper... and maybe some other ones too...

[/ QUOTE ]
I thought I heard it mentioned that since Patrol XP doesn't work, 2xp won't work either...like they're on the same system.
Either way, if you wanna level up your scrapper in AE, you don't need 2xp weekend for that. Fire/Kin and Emp Def = soft capped farm destructor. Add in fillers to taste. -
[ QUOTE ]
Alleged problem: Having to bid on multiple levels to try to get one item.
Suggested service: For a percentage of sale price, I will bid on a level range for a period of time.
Rikti speech pattern: inexplicable.
Let's say you're buying, I dunno, Swan's Ridiculous Heels: Chance for Inappropriate Comment. the IO goes 25-50. Level 50's are 20 million, level 40-49 are 5-10 million but sell much less frequently. So it would take as long to buy one of the 40-49 if you had bids on ALL of them as it would to buy a level 50.
This brings up the paradox that you "can't afford to get it cheaper." That is, you would need to put up nine bids at [say] 10 million each, tying up nine slots and ninety million inf, instead of overpaying by 10 million inf to get it in one slot, rapidly. If all you have is twenty million inf... the man wins and you lose.
If you're level 43 and you want something between 36 and 46, you're extradoomed because you can't even take the level 50 option.
What would you consider a fair rate (or commission) for, say, putting up a bid on an 8-level range for a week [or until filled]?
I'd be offering the use of my capital and slots, which I'm not using anyway.
Does 20% seem fair?
[/ QUOTE ]
Sounds like a great idea. If I were you, I'd charge 50% of the difference between the top level Buy-It-NAO and the actual purchase price. Of course, the B-I-N price would have to be determined in advance. -
[ QUOTE ]
Mind4everburning [formerly KeepDistance] said that last 2XP, when he was doing the run to 1 billion inf, he expected the ridiculous salvage price spikes afterwards, but what he didn't expect was the salvage price crashes during.
There are steep mountains and huge valleys all weekend- I can guess as to when the times are, but if you set up your sell and buy orders beforehand, you don't really have to care when they happen.
[/ QUOTE ]
People are gonna be running content like there's no tomorrow and they're gonna dump all their salvage cheap so they have room for more. Probably the same with recipes. -
You are correct, it's both. It'll move in waves and certain items will be going up while others drop. I expect common IO's and all salvage to steadily RISE during 2xp weekend. I expect bronze recipes/IOs to flood and prices will bottom out temporarily.
Might be a good time to buy up cheap IO's that are normally expensive, and flip later. Some ones I'm considering:
Anything ending at 40 that's at all desirable, including Impervium Armor, Miracle, Decimation (Detonation? The one that's expensive), Efficacy Adaptor
Anything that's normally desirable, including KB's, Steadfast +Def Unique, Gaussians, Obliteration, Reactive Armor
This is all assuming people stay in AE for 2xp weekend. Apparently you don't get 2xp in AE, so I doubt that'll happen, but you never can overestimate the intelligence of the common player.
Assuming people are outside of AE, I'd say common salvage will bottom out again and it'd be a great time to pick up Alchemical Silver, Spell Ink, Circuit Boards, Scientific Theory, any commons that spike hard. Recipes will probably still drop in price from oversupply during 2xp.
After 2xp is over, trends will reverse like the undertow and salvage will skyrocket as people are trying to IO out their new toons. Crapping IO's will probably be extremely profitable just after 2xp.
Etc etc. -

Step one; make a soft capped to smash lethal fire/kin.
Step two: farm smash/lethal mobs.
Step three: bronze roll and sell.
Repeat.
Edit: oh and nice work B-ry.
[/ QUOTE ]
This works, but the soak rate of bronze IO's is a little low to move them all in 24 hours. -
[ QUOTE ]
Amazingly enough, I knew it and profit from it WITHOUT anyone telling me, omg!
Only problem I face with rolling bronzes anymore is getting TOO greedy and running out of sale slots.

Hey Mister Smarms, it's quite possible I WASN'T talking to you then, isn't it? Jesus, stick to the AV Club comments if you're gonna be that smarmy. -

Dark Astoria, once in a while, is a LOT OF FUN.
I don't know how efficient it was in terms of XP, drops, etc. but nothing beats it for Zombies Per Minute.
BOOOM ! FWOOOSH! Ah ha ha hah...

This is wisdom.
And the reason I have my fire blaster oro-parked in Moth Cemetary. =D

I have a fire/shield scrapper at 22 right now. Anyone care to describe where to go/what to boom for this "fun" you speak of? -
You guys are all just rubbing it in that I sold mine for 600m aren't you? >.<

Market Cliff Notes: A Guide to Marketeering
[/ QUOTE ]
I always see Mountaineer and Cliff Notes in the same post and get this image in my head of Sylvester Stallone hanging there with one hand and reading from a little notebook in the other. Not that I think you look like Sly...but that you wrote a guide for him and his ilk. -
[ QUOTE ]
Were you only running farms? My own experience is that SFMAs are slower than regular PvE due to the lack of patrol XP (and to some extent the lack of mission and arc bonuses, but mostly it's the patrol XP).
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah I meant compared to the farms. I was farming mainly to get 1 char up to 50 for Kheldians and to try out different power combinations. Doesn't take much farming to get a new char to the 20's where you get a good idea of how they play.
I found that the slower XP progression in regular MA (non-farm) was offset by the lack of need to run around all over the frickin place between missions. But like I said, getting out of the AE building was a breath of fresh air, just slooooooow progression. -
My revelation re: MA...
I went back to doing "real" missions last weekend for the first time in ages. I forgot how much fun a real story and some varied terrain can be. I also forgot how much INSANELY faster you level in MA. I mean it was weird for me to play for a few hours and not level my L21 scrapper ONCE. The same amount of time spent in MA would have had him at least 2 levels. Sad sauce.
