  1. Issue 15: Blame The Player Base Some More

    With "Indian Giver" Badge
  2. [ QUOTE ]
    ...farming that is.

It's simple. Farming is producing crops for harvest. Before the Mission Architect, players couldn't produce ANYTHING in the game. Thus, farming did not exist.

So, what were they doing? Ranching. They were herding pre-existing cattle into fenced in areas for eventual slaughter. That's right, all they were doing was ranching.

Farming did not exist before the Mission Architect. Now, by the implementation of the Mission Architect system where you can make your own enemy groups, farming now exits.

The developers, with Issue 14, finally created farming. For realz.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's sigworthy. I tried... and tried... and tried... and tried some more to make it fit into a sig. I sacrified my global, forum handle, PERC title, and MA advertisement, shortened "Mission Architect" to MA, "Issue 14" to "I14", chopped out the little sentences in the middle that were redundant... and it still wouldn't fit.

Finally I found a way, and my MA and global got to stay

Edit: I absolutely had to have this in my sig.
  3. Quite a bit is 'under the hood' of my characters, but then I'm one of the writers in the Whitmoore Apartments and Paragon University threads next door. All of that won't fit into the little character ID information screen. We have a character wiki we touches on our characters but isn't exhaustive. The thread isn't even exhaustive.

I have many characters that aren't on the threads. Of the those characters that are detailed, only two are currently being written and one is significantly historically documented in the wiki because she simply has so much material. And even when I am writing a character everything that is going on in my mind doesn't make it to text for various reasons; it may not fit the scene, it might bore the reader, I may be saving it for later, it might be secret, etc.

There is a lot under the hood.

For the record, my Kheldian's alien half is mostly-dormant at present sleeping while he heals from emotional and psychic shock damage from severe injuries. His human half was more sturdy and adaptive, but then she is a US Marine. She picked them up by their bootstraps and carried them on and has proceeded to kick butt. She hasn't made it to the war zone or met Argot Bur Wot yet.

I've probably overlooked a few, I'm still working my way through a long list. I played Astoria in D Minor because of the referral from this thread and liked it so much I'm listing it too.

    Am I Insane?

I'd suggest working "Challenge" into that last mission description somehow. That's a keyword for loonie players who love that kind of thing, you'll attract them in droves. And it's a warning to people NOT to use their Ice/FF controllers.

Edit/PS: When my brute gets high enough I might try it. She's a baby brute right now.

Since there was evidence in the global channel that the one-star was deliberate, premeditated, and irrelevant to the arc itself, I'd have gathered it all up and sent it in with a petition for ratings griefing.

Even if it didn't amount to anything, the talking-to the player would have gotten from the CS folks would be a BIG clue that an honest request for plays and ratings is NOT A BAD THING.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I love the copy/paste feature, makes doing this so much easier.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've used copy/paste for petitions, not for this, but for other harassment petitions (like racial slurs for example). You would think people would wise up. Anything you say can be copy/pasted into a petition, it doesn't matter where you say it anymore.
  7. A post from the devs saying that valid petitions regarding this are being treating seriously with bans and/or revoked ratings priviliges would go a long way.

I don't believe anything is being done about it, even when people do petition.
  8. Mr. Squid, I've never thought that critically of the LGTF until your analysis. I assumed there was some critical piece of the Rikti storyline that I was missing. I only recently finished the RWZ storyline, I was doing it one mission at a time in dribs and drabs, savoring it across many different alts as I enjoy the the Rikti war so much.

I always thought the portal elements might come up, but they didn't. It makes sense that the Rikti would be looking for a way to power a mega portal to their homeworld, but you're right, that task force does seem to have a bunch of disparate elements in it. Hamidon was stuck in to train players how to run a new Hamidon raid.

Why doesn't the Honoree (who does have a story which ties to the Glacia and Infernia) and HroD'tohz have more heavies like the Riders defending them in the final mission at least? Why doesn't the task force have mini-objectives that can't be failed like the ITF to prevent speeding? Why are the I15 TFs more speedable than either? That said, I like the ITF simply from the standpoint of miniobjectives that make you fight - the team can only speed so much.

(edited for paragraph breaks and wall o' text)
  9. I was really hoping you would review the I15 task forces on the I15 threads so the developers would have a detailed and thoughtful basis from which to correct them. Your reviews are topnotch.

Please tear into my arc with a thresher when you get to it.

I went afk one night at my work (hotel night audit) because I was getting robbed.

Neighbor's unleashed jerkface dog attacked the other neighbor's kid. Keep in mind that I love animals, but after calling the police and ambulance, the dog kept circling around the kid and his father (who was trying to stay between the dog and his son). Was REALLY close to going out and shooting the dog (grabbed a baseball bat instead of the gun). Basically, these neighbors would let their not-so-friendly dog roam the neighborhood and it frequently wandered into MY yard growling and barking at me.

(Police arrested the neighbor and took the dog due to this incident. Neighbors moved not too long after and I'm glad that mutt is gone.)

    Wow.
  11. So far the most incomprehensible complaint I've had is that my arc was "too in line with the game story/canon".

    *boggle*

Actually, I took that as a backhanded compliment since I wanted my arc to be completely in line with the game story.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I am glad for feedback, I just can't understand the complaint. :/

    Greetings all,

This thread is being opened up for lore questions. This is the place I will start looking for each weeks Canon Fodder questions. I will work with the rest of the devs to put together as many answers as I can each week.

    The game is afoot!

I just pretty much want to know anything and everything there is about Blue Steel, such as how did he come by his powers, why is he not a registered super hero (instead of working for the police), etc.

Also, I've sent you a PM. Thanks!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    This.

I would like to know how Blue Steel came to work with the police and whether such an option is open for other heroes who do not want to operate under the Citizens Crime Fighting Act but who would rather be true Police Officers.

Is Blue Steel both a registered superhero and a member of the PPD, and in what capacity?

Post your grief story here, and lets help the other grief victims out there to give their stories a fair shake.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yep, add me to the list. 5 stars yesterday and on the front page, now buried somewhere deep in the 4 star list. ( my Croatoa arc )

    [/ QUOTE ]

This happened to me not long after I published.

5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5, hit page 2, a bunch of zeros... 4s and 5s since and I've been buried in the back beyond of the 4-star section ever since. It's hard to overcome 0-star ratings.
  17. I would agree to changing the current rating methods to require people to play arcs for a significant period before rating [u]if there was a "report for content" button on the MA GUI so that we could report farms easily[u].

Edit: Even still, to go in, test and find out "hey this is definitely a farm", exit, quit TF, and report for content takes a significant chunk of time. The same thing goes for material that is way over the top of T for Teen rating, Copyright violations, etc... We shouldn't have to play through to mission complete/end of arc to report for that kind of thing.
  18. I have two missions in my arc that have mission objectives that are sequential, but not chained (I hate chained objectives that make you run back through the map). Even the clues the NPCs give, talking about other NPCs you meet further on, are sequential. It was tricky making that work and finding the right maps for it so that they always spawned correctly. Trial and error and good placement. It does not work on outdoor maps at all.
  19. This would be a fun accolade. I would like to see it, both hero and villainside versions.
  20. If there were going to be a 24-hour cap on Tickets it would have to be high. Some people play a lot, especially on the weekend. As has been noted, the 1500 ticket cap is too low for some legitimate, non-farming missions already (although I haven't run into this myself).

The serious farmers and RMTers just switch characters anyway. This really wouldn't stop them.

An XP limit - if there isn't one in game, there shouldn't be in MA. It's that simple. There's a loading screen tip that says you can level 1-50 in MA, to put a limit on leveling in MA that doesn't exist in the rest of MA would make that a lie.

Diminishing returns would kill MA. This is a stinker of an idea. I'm as anti-farmer as it gets, but even I would balk at doing more than one or three MA missions, just one arc tops, if there were diminishing returns. My arc is five missions long. By the time someone was on the last mission they would be getting only 80% tickets? How many players on a team of 8 would really stick around that long. Not just no, HELL NO.
  21. Congratulations!

If you're looking for just plain fun it's hard to beat an MA/WP scrapper for beating things up.
  22. I'm not a morning person, if you're on when I am I'll take care of it @Emission.
  23. Happy birthday! Cake and ice cream!

Nerdy girls are kind of sexy. What can I say? It's a weakness.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Only "kind of" sexy? How do you find anyone attractive if they're incapable of actually challenging you mentally? That's one of the reasons why I've only dated nerdy girls. No other girls can keep up.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm liking you more and more, Umbral... too bad I'm married. I'm nerdy, female, AND straight. And it's hot and humid here too.

Oh wait, we were talking about Arcanaville. I don't know about married, but I'm sure all the rest applies.
