  1. I knew I forgot something. Adding that....
  2. STEELE MAGNOLIA'S GUIDE TO MOTHERSHIP RAIDS AND SUPERSIDICKING (once I16 goes live)

With the advent of Supersidicking all members of the team will be sidekicked or exemplared to the team leader. No longer will it be necessary for individual pairs of mentors and sidekicks. When you join a team with a team leader of differing level you will require a sidekick or exemplar. The sidekick or exemplar is automatic and enacted by game mechanics. If you have not preset an auto accept (in Menu >Options can be preset for 1 all the way to 50) you will be prompted with a popup with a timer of 30 seconds. If you decline or at the end of 30 seconds if you have not accepted you will be kicked from the team.

Sidekicking no longer has a range. Regardless of distance between mentor and sidekick the sidekicking will be retained. No longer will a sidekick die if the mentor goes to the hospital. The range for xp, prestige, and influence/infamy gained from defeated mobs remains.

The Rikti War Zone no longer has a level limit. Any character can enter.

Vanguard Merits are still limited to 35+ characters. In order to earn Vanguard merits a character must complete the Introduction to Vanguard arc with Levantera. Only characters 35+ can do this. This level requirement has not changed.

What this means for Mothership Raids:

The team leader should be level 50. The second and preferrably third as well members of the team should also be level 50. This will ensure that all team members are at least level 50 or SK'd to 49. In the event of the leader DC'ing, as often happens, the star will change hands and the team will retain these levels preventing a teamwipe.

Team Leaders should use care in choosing whom to invite. With the zone no longer being level restricted any level character could be seeking to join a team. If they are below 50 once they are on the team their level will be reflected on the team list as a sidekicked 49. The only way to check true character level is by right clicking on the character name in the team list and looking at 'info'.

Team Leaders should build their teams with care if they choose to invite characters below 35. If a team is not combat viable because it has several lowbies it will not reap good rewards. The raid as a whole has to be combat viable. Keep this in mind. I suggest no more than one lowbie per team.

There is no longer any excuse not to go to the hospital. If you don't get a rez within a minute, GO!
  3. Just a reminder, Liberty's Channel is still here for those looking for a kid-friendly (or just easy on the eyes) channel.

If you are interested send a tell to @Steele Magnolia or @American Valor or post here in the thread.
  4. Welcome back! I hope you enjoy yourself. If you have any questions just send me a tell in game.
  5. I'll run one tonight just for you, Emerald Star.

    What: Rikti Mothership Raids
    Where: Rikti Warzone
    Who: Heroes and Villains 35-50
    Raid Leaders: @Steele_Magnolia (Cornucopia)
    Date: 09/04/2009 Friday
    When: 9:00pm EST
  6. Unscheduled raids are not planned in advance by definition and thus not posted here or on global channels. Not everyone who runs raids is a member of LB or Liberty's Channel to ask to have it listed. Sometimes raids are run on spur of the moment or are private SG affairs. Jomhom is pretty cool, but he's not omniscient, he can't know everything.

Yesterday's raid wasn't American Valor or I, and Lurker Above's is on Wednesday. I've no idea who was running a raid yesterday. The ship is big and the forcefield is so shiny. It presents such a pretty target. It sounds like someone wanted a piece of it. I wish they had let us play too.

So, what can we do? If you see a raid going on or starting... pass the information on in channels for others to join!

More on topic, however, I have seen the "advertising" for CoH in the form of "I'm a Hero/I'm a Villain" and the Captain Awesome bits. All well and good, but none of them tell you anything about playing the game and how cool it is. They are comedy routines, but do not inspire me to play the game.

Now crank up Sam's trailer for Midnight Hour or Invasion. Perfect synergy of dramatic soundtrack and game clips. Snippets of cool, ominous "narrative" to give the context. How can you NOT want to jump in there and play after seeing it in action??

I have said it before, but I am happy to reiterate it here. If you want folks that know nothing about the game to be inspired to BUY AND PLAY the game, HIRE THE GAL ALREADY!
I totally agree (except for the part about Captain Awesome who made me want to play any other game).

    Hire Sam!
  12. Likewise. The latest word is that this is caused one step out from Paragon Studios datacenter that services the east coast servers and that they have no control of it. They're trying to get those who own it to fix it but....

...sigh. How long we're going to be stuck with this is anyone's guess. If I hear anything I will post. I'll be following this.

As far as technical support is concerned, we've done as much as we can and this is now incumbent upon PCCW to resolve.

In the meantime, we'll just need to be patient until this problematic ISP can resolve its connectivity issues.
That's downright discouraging. Half the game population is stuck with a lousy connection and Paragon Studios can't fix it because it isn't their problem.

It seems there's a problem with the data center that services the east coast servers.

    /bind p "++showfps$$++netgraph"

You turn off the netgraph by hitting the key you bound it to again.

    3 MB RAM
Two Radeon 300/600/900 (my system doesn't specify) graphics cards

I've had weird graphics effects since double xp weekend. It's getting annoying. I'm not the only one experiencing these. I had someone else ask me why I was running backward yesterday. Obviously it's not everyone or there would be threads about this already.

I may be forgetting some, but here are what I can recall:

    - Rikti drones spin like a top when defeated (instead of explode)

    - At random powers go into permanent "cycling" mode after being activated, and then after a minute or three go back to normal. During this time they can either be used or not, in accordance with their activation times and time elapsed since I used them.

    - Characters run in place, run backwards, freeze in odd positions while in flight or jumping.

    - All teleport animations jerk spasmodically.
  19. I too would like to see all characters get Vanguard merits. I think they should drop like regular Merits and MA tickets.

I still don't want to see them on Mothership raids, any more than on Hami raids.
  20. I use it on my Bots/TA MM. I had to get it with Merits.

That's the only thing about I16 I'm worried about. I would like to be able to run Mothership Raids. Instead, I think the RWZ will become the new PL/Farm zone instead of Cap and Atlas and the zone will be full of players seeking PL and clogging up broadcast with LFF spam. Running a MS Raid is going to be an unpleasant prospect.

I also agree with the posters who believe that removing the level restriction from Cimerora and the War Zone make the zones less special. As lowbies will not get Vanguard Merits and will be unable to earn Vanguard costume pieces, I think this zone and Cimerora should remain closed to <35.
  22. Congrats, Lurker!

I just got home late last night so (crossing fingers I will be able to stay home) I should be able to make the next raid. I'll bring a defender. More raids makes for more fun.

Exactly. And right now is such a case. I've been out of game since Friday and will be for the forseeable future. I'm out of town, without game access, dealing with a family emergency. I don't know when I'll be home.

  25. Liberty's Channel is technically a Liberty server channel, but the standard of conduct for it are the EULA and friendliness. You won't find the obnoxiousness and obscene chat you find on other channels and it is far quieter. It isn't the main Liberty server channel, that's LBx.

Liberty's Channel is small (around 70) people, but nearly all of the people on it are long time vets with a great deal of knowledge and experience who will help and answer questions. If you are looking for information it can be a good channel. You are welcome to join (just respect the rules). If interested send a global tell to @American Valor (I will be away from game starting today for awhile due to RL issues and unable to invite people).
