Weird graphics effects in game

Dell Dimension 5100C
Windows XP
3 MB RAM
Two Radeon 300/600/900 (my system doesn't specify) graphics cards

I've had weird graphics effects since double xp weekend. It's getting annoying. I'm not the only one experiencing these. I had someone else ask me why I was running backward yesterday. Obviously it's not everyone or there would be threads about this already.

I may be forgetting some, but here are what I can recall:

- Rikti drones spin like a top when defeated (instead of explode)

- At random powers go into permanent "cycling" mode after being activated, and then after a minute or three go back to normal. During this time they can either be used or not, in accordance with their activation times and time elapsed since I used them.

- Characters run in place, run backwards, freeze in odd positions while in flight or jumping.

- All teleport animations jerk spasmodically.

Those problems are most likely related to connection to the server issues which could be on your end (background software interference, improper set-up, bad cable or connection, problem with router, problem with modem) on the server's end, or anywhere in between (the pole outside your domicile, ISP server, etc...). Run...

/netgraph 1

And check out the connection.

Also, check out this thread, Common Solutions & Posting Guidelines

Then post the results of these two programs:

  • CoH Helper - it will show us basic computer settings and your CoH configuration.
  • HijackThis - it will show us what's running on your computer concurrently with CoH. Click on "Do a system Scan and save a logfile." It will automatically open up Notepad and put the info there. Make sure Wordwrap is off in Notepad (Format > Wordwrap unchecked) before you cut and paste here.

It bears mentioning that the Teleport issue is a known bug that everyone is experiencing.

I did the netgraph test and got some interesting results. As I play on three servers (Liberty, Pinnacle, and Virtue) and didn't seem to be experiencing these problems on Virtue and saw very different netgraph results for Virtue I decided to look at all the servers. The results are eye opening and clear.

This looks like a West Coast server vs East Coast server issue.

Heh, changed it last night.

That's when I took over the returning 5th Column.

It was my turn.

Next week, Hardcase takes it over, then Fusionette, then The Can Man, then it's the Center's turn again.
