Honestly? I'd like to never see a villain themed MM set. EVER.
Even the ninja MM isn't overly blatantly Tsoo based.
Making a villain group themed MM would just be far too much of a "niche catering" style move to me. After carnies were done, the freak lovers would complain. Then malta. Then blades. Then Rikti. Then CoT. It wouldn't end.
The MM sets need to be at least partially original just to stop some minor amounts of the complaining.
EDIT: Besides. I HATE carnies.

What he said
Never have understood the obsession with Carnies personally; aside from the fact that of all the villain groups, Carnies are the only ones with female members that have a distinct aversion to clothes. Coincidence?
Personally (and I think this is another "nope it's never gonna happen" thing) I'd like to be able have customisable hench cossies. Zombie signature hero cossies for a necro MM. Brilliant. The complication of course is the upgrades. Each upgrade has a distinctive cossie change, so that'd make things a little difficult. -
fine by me - I was hoping to play Viking anyway
-
I'm up for this too.. Any of my 50s Cl / Reg, Fi / Axe, Elec, Elec, or even the PB
-
Plumped for the scrapper. "Bare Fist Freddy" MA / WP. Got him up to level 4 last night. So I'll see you on Saturday morning (if not before of course)
-
As a recent recruit, I'd love to fill one of the remaining spots. Probably as a Grav/? 'troller, or MA / WP scrapper

I actually like Defiance as it is... it just adds to that "seat-of-the-pants" play experience that playing blasters tends to be; especially if you play blasters as a "ranged fire support" character like I do. There's been more times than I can count where my HP bar is flashing away in the red, oranges and red all around, healers down, tank is struggling, Definace close to max and there I am one shotting pretty much everything. It's a lot of fun; gets the heart pumping, and even if you die (as is usually inevitable) somehow the debt doesn't matter; almost a heroic "I was beaten but I took most of the swines down with me" kind of thing.
Additionally, I don't think changing the animation times of the low end powers is going to make diddly squats worth of difference in the scheme of things -
Completely agree. Rather a nice intro mission after my 3 month break hehe, and sufficient inf earned to sort out my SU cossie for Illuzi

Its better to be the maker of the teams so that you can better make sure you can learn your limits progressively whilst being sure you get adequate support in more ways than one. At low levels you can tank for teams, you can take taunt at 10 and use it but you cant be expected to be the sole answer for everything in the process. I like to tank of the bat really, I took taunt at 4 on 3 of my tanks, its gauntlet that sucks in low levels and to me this is what needs fixing.
[/ QUOTE ]Taunt is part of the tanker secondaries. None of these have taunt at level 4, they're not available until level 10. Taunt AURAS however are part of the primary, and ARE usually available from level 4 (or level 1 if you're a Fire Tank).

Thanks, I know what pedantry is. You were obviously posting for the benefit of those who don't.
Mr M. .. My point was that currently it is not possible to take a taunt before level 10, unless you're talking about taunt auras. You're right that the primary powers are unlocked at levels 1, 2 and 6 and not at level 4 at all as I had indicated. My bad there! -

Is the contradiction she was referring to I think -
Bit of a harsh statement to make that "Most of the good tanks learned from good tanks in i3 /i4" .. there's plenty of good tanks out there, just like there are plenty of bad ones. This is actually no different from the fact that there are plenty of good and bad players of any AT, but given the fact that a lot of people see a good tank as the corner stone of a good team, the good and bad ones become that much more obvious.
I play a fair bit, and I can honestly say that I've teamed with as many good and bad tanks as any other ATs, and I really can't remember any REALLY bad ones that stand out, nor can I honestly say that as an AT "There aren't many good tanks out there"
As far as the OP goes, I totally agree with the sentiments about the ability to tank effectively pre SOs, and this I think is a big argument against taking taunt before level 22 (although you'd probably respec so that you took it earlier once you'd got to the late 20s). There's little point in taking a power to generate more agro, if you haven't got the defensive capabilities to cope with it. -
Man. Playing a woman.
In other circumstances that would certainly raise some eyebrows -
Illuzi-One; Illusion / Radiation Controller hit level 50 at 21:30pm today.
Despite 4 other 50s, this one has definitely been the most fun. All the rumours about Ill / Rad are true!! -
Yeah I'd already tried that, and the fact that the rest of the base is so well lit, it draws attention to the fact that there the doorways are so dark. I have tried putting standing or ceiling lights either side as close as I can, but it looks naff, and there isn't really enough "spread" on the lights for it to work properly.
I did try looking at the bases in my Coalition to see how they'd got round the problem, but thinking about it, I wonder if you only really notice it when you're placing items in the "top down" view? -
In particular.. doorways. Seeing as it appears to be impossible to put lighting items in the Doorway "rooms", has anyone found a way of getting a nice even spread of lighting the whole base evenly, rather than the doors being little pockets of dark dingeyness!

The Kings Row teleporter plants you very close to the Yellow line, also a nice point.
[/ QUOTE ]
My first two beacons were Kings Row and Steel Canyon for that very reason. With that one telepad you can get to pretty well anywhere with a maximum of 2 zone hops. Second teleporter has Faultline and Hollows; 3rd will have Talos and Peregrine, 4th Brickstown (because it brings you out right next door to the Creys Folly gate) and I'm undecided about the second beacon. Probably Atlas, but I think I'd be open to suggestion.
As to the original OPs question, "Why make a new SG?" Because you can! I started an SG on Union back in Feb / March time, and just had my Union alts and one or two RL friends. I tried recruiting new people, but found that they'd leave because "there wasn't enough people on line" (despite me explaining that it was a new and small SG *shrug*).
It's ended up with just my alts, and also those of my nephew (who started playing about a month ago). He's managed to convert a WoW playing buddy of his to the delights of CoH and he's brought a couple of his alts along as well.
So even though there's never more than 3 of us online at the same time, although the prestige gathering (and therefore base building) has been fairly slow, it's still been fun. As is often the case with anything related to MMOs (and indeed life for that matter); be patient. Don't expect instant gratification, the good stuff comes after you've had to wait a bit!
To give you an idea about what can be achieved with 3 people 20 or so alts between us and a couple of Double XP weekends, the Sigma Base has 2 fully functional teleporters, a large Generator, Database, Mainframe, Holodisplay Unit, Medibay with just the one Mediport, Workshop with a Salvage Rack, Inventions Station and Basic Worktable. All that is still on the smallest inital plot, so don't have to worry about rent. -
I think Stamina is largely a QoL issue. There are builds that are doable without stamina like claws / regen scrappers and bot / dark MMs, but ultimately life is a hell of a lot easier with it.
I have an Ill / Rad with stamina (currently lvl 43). I run (and LOVE) choking cloud with 2 end reds and 2 holds. I'll also leave CC runnning when in an AV fight, because I find that as it's a hold, it'll stack with my other holds (blind and flash) to help lock down the AV.
I only use Sup Inv when travelling through PI to avoid snipers, ghosting glowies or if I need to get close to drop PA in an AV mob; even WITH stamina and 2 lvl 45 end red IOs its a HUGE end hog.
These days with the travel speed buffs of swift, and the regen / recovery potential of Health the fitness pool isn't just all about stamina (for me at least), so if I were to drop it, realistically all I'd be getting is one additional power choice. I think I'd rather use that slot for something that's going to give me peace of mind in a long fight than an extra attack or other pool power that I could probably do without. -
Well I propose we get a team going from 7pm on Friday. Saturday I'm going to be in and out, Sunday and Monday I should be around for most of both days (assuming I don't get nagged to take the missus out
Who would be up for a Monday ST Marathon? Say start around 9am and continue through till 10 / 11 PM (BST). Of course, we have a National Holiday on Monday, so perhaps it'd suit people better if we did this on Sunday?
Thoughts? -
I have 2 highish lvl tanks.. one fire / axe, the other inv /ss. The Inv (for me at least) needed Taunt, where as the fire can do without it. I tend to jump in and use Consume to grab agro, and BA with 2 ACC, 2 Taunt and 2 End Rdx is enough to hold it. Additionally, Fireball from the epic set is a great ranged agro-grabber (after all Fire blasters use it all the time in the Hollows, and at least as a tank I'm better equipped do deal with the agro it generates
)
With my inv tank I did try and use a similar tactic, but I found that the taunt aura just isn't strong enough.
I'm glad that there are people who have the "So long as the tanker takes the alpha, and most of the agro and I don't die I'm happy" attitude. One of my pet hates are the people who look at your build and decide they don't want to team with you because you don't fit into their preconceived idea. Imo the mark of a good player is someone who can play well and adapt to any team irrespective of the builds (within reason), rather than blame their own ineptitude on a tank that hasn't taken taunt. -
Is it me, or is next weekends double xp weekend on union a perfect chance for some major ST hoo'age?
-
I'm afraid both my khleldians have rather unimaginative names.. the PB is called "Luminesque", and the WS is called "Umbralesque".
-
If you want to do this just turn up at 2pm in SkyWay and holla!

Would love some hot ST action, trouble is Sigma Burn is still only level 20 atm, so wouldn't be able to do the respec. If you do decided to do it, give me a shout after you're done and I'll pop on. All my toons are members of the ST channel so shouldnt be a problem
