Or trying to kill Firbolg in Croatoa, only to realize all those 'trees' you're taking out are actually Devouring Earth. Paying attention is a good thing.
  2. I've tried a few DB/Fire heroes, both Scrappers and Tankers, to various levels. Lot of fun on both counts. Damage is great, survivability not so much, but still okay. If I were to make a DB/Fire guide it would likely be titled: Making the Undead your *****: A Guide to DB/Fire. Zombies are the devs gift to DB/Fire characters.
  3. Aside from buying a newer version of the game so you don't have to download so many patches? Not that I know of.

    Alouette

She kind of looks like a young Susan Sarandon. That weird association aside, really great piece. I like it a lot.
  5. I'll destroy the person below me with one of the coolest weapons ever conceived.

    Rail Gun ftw!
  6. Simple? Invulnerability. Like Willpower and Shields, it prefers being in the middle of massive mobs, but unlike WP, it bulks up on S/L res to make getting there easier.

I will further recommend /Stone, or /DM as a secondary. Stone Melee is very smashy and offers great mitigation. Dark Melee, paired with Inv, is nothing short of spectacular.
  7. Siphon Life is the posterchild for frankenslotting, since there is no aspect of the power you don't want to slot for. Except maybe tohit debuff, but slotting for that would be crazy.
  8. Shield/Electric would be my choice if I were to farm.

    Kaboom! Followed by... MORE KABOOM!!

Blazing Aura is also the most damaging aura available to tankers. Over time, it puts out very impressive amounts of damage, saving you endurance since you don't need an extra attack or two on each enemy.

My FA builds tend to go for high recharge to capitalize on Healing Flames, Consume, and Fiery Embrace. I've toyed with FA/DB a few times, and really like the feel of the combo. Vahzilok and other undead are like butter. Also, because FA gets its Stun/Disorient resistance in its first toggle, the set is ideal for sewer teams. Stun res, coupled with the toxic res in HF and you've got a decently solid sewer team tanker.

My Fire/Stone tanker solo'd the Faultline EB's, and then tanked them as AV's for teams, and I've heard of Fire tanks handling the various high end TF's, so Fire can handle general tanking duties. The lack of defense hurts, but it also makes it easier to see when defeat is coming since health gets knocked off at a steady pace, rather than the 'good, good, still good, dammit' pace defense sets have.

Play to your strengths, learn the set inside and out, and you'll be a mean s.o.b.
  10. I hear good things about the Chance for +End proc in Dark Regen.

I have nothing else useful to add.
  11. I destroy the person below me with the most powerful kitty to walk the earth!

    Yeah, you're screwed.

    Making A Tanker

I play tankers because they are the closest thing I can get to the comic book heroes I've always liked: Colossus, Luke Cage, Hulk, Superman, etc. Defending teammates and civilian alike. I play a lot of scrappers as well, but I like that tankers have more of a role to play to on teams. It's nice to cut loose and kill stuff, but having a deeper purpose is nice sometimes too.

I've got a lot of tankers.

My first was the Silver Sledge, an Inv/SS created in I4 and my first 50. Conceptualized as 'Hulk-like'. The harder you hit him, the stronger he gets, as the suit he wears absorbs kinetic energy and allows him to redirect. He's done the most of any of my tankers, content-wise, and has tanked some ridiculous situations. I haven't had another 'pure' tanker since getting him to 50.

Eastgate Enforcer is Shield/SS. A normal guy taking up the cause after sitting on the sidelines for a long time. My try at a Shields tanker, and one of two characters that has had art done.

Grim Fandango is an Inv/Dark tanker. He is the living dead, over 100 years old, bound to be an eternal champion. He is possibly the toughest tanker I've ever played. IO'd out he would be a monster.

Stormrazer is Inv/DB and was raised the daughter of an occult professor. She, like a lot of my characters, could pretty much be stuck right into a pulp adventure novel or noir detective film.

Kilauea is Fire/Stone and is the earthly avatar of Pele, goddess of destruction and volcanoes. Squishiest of my tankers, she's solo'd a good number of EB's (all the Faultline EB's), and tanked the Faultline AV's for teams. The Fire/Stone combo certainly gives off the badass impression one would expect from the avatar of destruction.

I have other tankers on other servers (other than the virtue ones, above). A Fire/DM, an Inv/Stone, and others.
  13. I destroy the person below me by getting them to unknowingly walk on caltrops.

Once they do, they will lose the ability to walk, lose their job because they can't get to work, get divorced and lose the house because of financial troubles, and the significant other will get the dog, and they'll drink themselves to a slow, horrible death. All because some jerk back in the day thought it would be cool to weaponize lego.

Vengleful Slice also provides knockdown, and is a fun attack.

I quite enjoy my Inv/DB tanker. The damage is respectable, the animations are nice, and the combos add an interesting element to the set, if you choose to use them. As a Superstrength junkie, I do enjoy Blinding Feint as opposed to Rage. It's a nice change of pace. I'm looking forward to picking up the final two attacks and trying them out. I feel trying everything in a set is still the best way to learn. Being told what's good or bad is alright, but learning for yourself is really the way to go. Especially nowadays when free respecs fall from the sky every five minutes.

I just unlocked the red cap daggers and am looking forward to incorporating them into a new costume.

To recap this short, rambling post: DB is a good secondary for tankers with decent damage, and does provide KD mitigation from a few sources.

*strums a tune and watches the chaos*
  16. SD/DM tankers have been soloing AV's and such, so the damage is there. And it's a trivial thing to softcap Shields on a tanker.

I'll throw my vote for Inv/DM, because playing mine kinda feels like cheating. If you're planning to IO out the build, softcapping an Inv tanker will pretty much achieve granite levels of tough without the drawbacks. Inv/Stone is heavy on endurance, and the SMASH.

Another option for a scrapper-like tanker is Fire/DM. Two fast recharging self-heals, two end recovery powers, a ST fear, an immob for leveraging burn, two build up powers, and good ST attacks. Fire/DM has pretty much every tool available to it.
  17. My MA/Regen went with SS, Fitness, and Fighting for power pools and grabbed Weapons Mastery for her epic. Stamina and Quick Recovery make end problems a bit easier to deal with. Tough (didn't grab Weave) makes a big difference in survivability, soaking up a lot of damage and giving your regen more time to work, meaning less click heals needed. Hasten is just nice to have with so many click powers. Targeting Drone and Exploding Shruiken (and caltrops which I don't use) were my selection from the epic pool.

+Recharge is definitely going to be your best bet for set bonuses.

    Agreed.
  19. Joke's on you, I'm immune to boredom. Once read the phone book in a single sitting!

In the spirit of happiness and sharing, I'm sending the person below me on an all-inclusive vacation to the lovely Overbrook Hotel.

HERE'S JOHNNY! He'll show you to your DOOM!

    Please, do come again.
  20. I destroy the person below me with thousands of papercuts, watching as the slowly bleed out.

  21. The world's tiniest sniper will destroy the person below me. Or maybe cut your feet if you step on him. Either way your misery will cheer the depths of my soul.

This, for me as well. There's no new primary/secondary power made available at 14, and the prerequisites I tend to choose from (CJ, AS, Hasten) are all decent in their own right.
  23. I destroy the person below me by locking them in a room with a real vampire.

    Look ma, no sparkles!!

  24. Freedom is the most populated server. Virtue is a close second and the unofficial roleplaying server.

Most populated also means the first to be locked out during events though, so it's good to have characters on a few servers.

    District 9

Agahnim's posts in this thread do a good job of summing up my feelings on the movie.

A movie I didn't particularly care for, and I'm still posting about it in 3 separate threads. Somedays I hate the internet.
