    Another new guy?

    Welcome to Protector!

There is an overabundance of quality SGs on Protector.

Most have smaller rosters, but are comprised of experienced, mature players who are dedicated and fun to hang out with.

Most probably whatever one you pick will still be in contact with a bunch of others (via global channels or coalitions) so eventually you'll meet a large percentage of all the server's players that way.

If you're interested, follow the links in my signature for the Mentor Project. I think might be able offer you some assistance - at least answer some of your questions.

And if you want to keep track of what's happening on this server, I just updated the Protector Activity Calendar.

    Enjoy your stay.
  2. Sry I didn't do this earlier Kultie - just added your event to the Protector Activity Calendar.

This way anyone subscribed to it, or SGs that have it embedded in their own website, will see it.
  3. Can't make it tonight - going out of town to party with my bro.

    Good luck guys!

    1. The look an feel has to be right.

Which means spending a fair ammount of time creating it and going back to the taylor to tweek it...

I know some people could care less about what a toon looks like as long as it does what it's meant to do, that is not me

    2. There has to be a connection with the toon

I guess this sort of falls into the role playing area, I have to feel a personalty and a presence of the toon, a sort of comes to life type of thing...

More than anything else, this is it for me as well (even if there's no actual RPing to speak of).

I couldn't care less about the powersets since as time goes by, I find myself increasingly leaning towards the unconventional combinations (read: not FOTM).

As for deleting characters, I used to think I'd keep all my 50s forever.

Now, they really have to have had some "oomph" for me to keep them, since there is still so much more to try and so little slots available in comparison.
  5. To anyone interested in promoting an event (or series of events), please post in this thread and we will update the calendar as soon as we see it.

If you need a faster reaction time, feel free to send me a PM, email (stalemate.v6 AT gmail.com), ingame tell (@stalemate) or you can even reach me via Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/boisvert.stephane) or Twitter (StalemateV6).

There is no reason for your event not to be fully promoted via all the methods we have at our disposal nowadays.

You mean MO in the sense of "no deaths", right?

You're not actually thinking of setting all the MO limitations to run these?
  7. Oh what the heck, twice is better.

    Happy Birthday
    Jerikko!

  8. Ha!

    We got him now!

Knowing Talbein's proficiency, maybe we should start thinking about tactics and how we're going to beat those guys.

There's no way I'm not getting some of those cookies Mean Girls are offering.*

*Cookies may, or may not, be the actual prize.
  9. And to think, I was going to ask my SG (therefore, Talbein), if anyone wanted in on Oz' team.

If we're starting this tomorrow night Oz (wife is unavailable on Thursdays), let me know of any open spots.
  10. Another method:

This downloads the updater, which will download and install the game for you.

And thank you for not only taking it on before, but also staying on board as one of the ongoing contributors.
  12. I was forgetting:

If you use iGoogle or have a GMail account, you can add this calendar directly to your personal list.

You can then set reminders for specific events, or (like me) receive a daily notice of what's happening.

Send me your account info and I'll send you the link to do that as well.
  13. The Protector Vigilance Calendar

Here is how you can access it:

    Calendar Website: https://sites.google.com/site/cohprotector/.

Direct HTML Link - Access the web calendar only at protectorvigilance.has.it

ICAL Link - For inclusion in other calendar managers

Twitter - Follow @COHProtector for timely updates about what is happening in the next hours.

XML Feed - For feed (RSS, XML) readers

If you have a website and would like to add or embed the calendar to it, this iFrame code may be of use to you as an alternative:

    Code:
    <iframe src="http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=stalemate.v6%40gmail.com&ctz=America/Montreal" style="border: 0" width="800" height="600" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>
Here is the result on an actual website (scroll down to see it)

As it stands, the calendar is maintained / updated with Protector players involved in creating, managing and promoting events. The number of editors may vary, but we will do our best to maintain the content as relevant and current as possible.

The Protector Vigilance channel always tries to maintain current event headlines in it's MOTD (Message of the Day), and also has this page's URL and Twitter info.

  14. I've had a chance to talk with Blaze Rocker, one of the mods (apparently the most active) of the Protector TFs channels these last few days.

I wanted to see how he saw the current situation of multiple channels "crossing" into each others' areas of services.

We talked at length about our respective channels' purposes and how we saw the possibility of fusing our memberships and, in a nutshell, he seemed to agree with the concept that Protector might be better served with one single channel. But that it wasn't going to happen. They "have their own functions and purposes", to paraphrase his words.

Like I said before, the channels do appear to complement each other and exist because of Protector's particular social dynamics.

You just need to find the one you feel best serves your needs.
  15. I broke the rules yesterday...

I got sidetracked elsewhere in other projects and completely missed the opportunity.

    Sorry guys.
  16. I seriously gave thought to starting another team, juuuuust to compete with Oz and make things more interesting, but I'll hop in instead.

I can bring in a tanker, a blaster or a scrapper.

I'll also talk to Cassiopea and see if she's interested after I explain the requirements.

She has a few defenders and trollers, and I believe some scrappers that could join.
  17. Great map there.

I'd like to use it on the Mentor Project website.

Who do I ask/credit for it?

I'm interested, just wondering who (besides Yeti of course) to ask along for this. Since they'll all essentially be "speed runs", I'm thinking about how best to approach them given that the same team does them all.

    Keep ya posted.
  19. I'm guessing all 4 TFs must be done in a row?
  20. *pokes thread with a stick, to see if it's still alive.

This is a great initiative from all of you and I hope many people can benefit from it.
That's pretty much left to the server's mentors to request, since they might want to present a personalized message.

Je te souhaite la bienvenue, en passant.

I get the same thing with my user name when I try to set up an account.
I have no control over that guys.

The registration form is a Google Docs form embedded into the Info section page and is independent, requiring no username / pwd to access or fill out.

It means someone has already registered the name you're using at GuildPortal and need to try something else. Unless it really is your account, then you'll need to ask for a new password from GP.

This was done already, at about the same time the "City of Hero" Korean servers opened.

IIRC, there were legal issues why that couldn't be resolved for NA players to use it. But players (myself included) had found a way to make the Korean costume designer standalone tool work in the language of one's choice.

Hopefully those issues no longer apply now and this idea can get placed on the "to do" list.

Perhaps a web-based flash version as well?

  25. Sorry to hear about your bad experience Snow Globe.

As a fellow badger, I sympathize with you on getting those badges that require setups that are, shall we say, out of our personal control.

Protector is also my main server, like others here.

I guess we're luckier than average, since I got to run both the MoKTF and MoSTF on the same evening, with the same players on the team for both runs. As a matter of fact, we have a small group of knowledgeable players that runs these almost weekly.

From what I know, they go by first come, first serve" so team makeup is secondary to strategy and tactics. It's rather unfortunate that you've met with such frustration.

If I was in your shoes, I wonder if I wouldn't react similarly.

But given our past experience re: Master runs, I rather enjoy running these as well and hope to get more in the future.
