I have no experience with Brutes as I really don't like playing red side, but my Elec/SD scrapper is an awesome farmer. He only dies when I get stupid and stop watching my HP bar (for those occasions when a long string of enemy attacks gets through my Defense) and/or I run out of green insps (which almost never happens when I'm soloing).
I can't say anything in comparison with damage on Scrapper versus Brute, obviously, but my Scrapper's AoE damage is quite nice. The only thing that sucks is the fact that his single target damage is on the low side.
I would imagine it kinda comes down to a tradeoff...more AoE burst damage versus more single-target damage in between.
EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention...my Scrapper farms at +4X8. Whether or not that's the best option for farming, I don't know, but it sure is satisfying. -

Quote:I would die of happiness if these changes were actually implemented. @_@PB dream buff
- +5-10 % damage to skills
- Remove KB'a and add KD'a to these skills.
(Knock Down is Knock Back of less than magnitude of 0.75, If I figured it right)
- Combine human form shield skills to one big resistance skill.
- Add skill that improves mez protection / resistances to status protections/resistances.
- Remove hitpoints drain from light form.
- Add some more orbs to Photon seeker skill in a way that you will send new energy orbs continously to targets during whole duration of this skill.
- Add Blazing aura styled AEO dot skill into dwarf form.
- Add skill that provides debuff. -
My Dual Pistols Blaster is named A Royal Revolution.
It's a play on words from an old fighting game called Battle Arena Toshinden. -
Quote:I'm not sure if it's "impossible" per se, but it would certainly be impractical.so is it impossible to make a completely new awesome engine and just move all the old information to it?
or is it just very hard and time consuming?
They'd have to basically re-do the entire game, changing all the animations and such over to the new engine. The game as it is now was designed with the current engine in mind, so changing over now would be a hassle.
lolwut -
I have a feeling the OP meant graphics engine. If such is the case, then the answer will almost definitely be "no." That's something developers typically save for new iterations of a game (i.e. Guild Wars 2), rather than an "upgrade" to an old game.
Ultra Mode is around the corner, but I believe that's just an "upgrade" to the current engine. -
Quote:Maybe. I like the ragdoll physics and all, I just hate having to run after things to continue beating on them.Well, note that I'd prefer KB be like a damage proc - if a foes is KBd, they'd receive more damage (from slamming into objects, falling...). So, that'd go someway to alleviating the aggravation of chasing them down.
But it's the fact you'd be aggravated that's the showstopper. We've grown used to playing the game where herding and bunching is a part of so much strategey, so a change now would gripe people to no end. If the KB-way was the way from the beginning we'd probably love it. It's more visual, visceral, and thematic. I can't imagine reading a Hulk or Superman comic (or seeing a movie) and not see super combatants slammed into skyscrapers - it's just wrong
Oh well, on to the next dead horse... -
I dunno, I think I would get annoyed rather quickly if every attack in the game had the ability to cause Knockback. It's a pain to have to continuously chase down baddies on a melee character because they're being knocked back constantly.

Quote:A joke, my friend.Emphasis mine to demonstrate that you've been doing it wrong. When a game becomes work leave or find what makes it fun and go back to doing that.
It was a joke.
I am a little annoyed that they're changing it to 20 now, but I understand the reasoning behind it (as Jade_Dragon stated), and overall I don't really care about it anyway. -
I'm personally a little bitter about it. I had to suffer through 1-50 twice to unlock HEATs and then VEATs. The little newbies should have to, too, dangit!

I took a look at AlienOne's guide. I imported one of his builds in to Mids and played with it a bit. It's not QUITE perma-Eclipse, but it's pretty damned close.
How's this?

Interesting.
What changes would I need to make to get perma-Eclipse? -
Does anyone have a good low-to-mid cost build for a Human-only Warshade? Been wanting to get my horribly gimped Warshade out of the stables for a while, but I'm clueless as to how to do that.

The travel power I get, if I even get one (which is rare these days) depends on the character I'm playing.
Usually, though, I just stick to a 3-slot Swift and Ninja Run. -
Saying an entire Archetype sucks because you don't know how to properly lead a team is...well, not smart.
-
You know...the more I think about it, the more I think it'd be really cool to have giant figures that appear in the fog randomly around the zone, but disappear when you try to get close to them. I think it would really add to Dark Astoria's atmosphere. :O

That thread will probably help you a lot as well. -
Quote:If you're a fan of Wizards and the like in other MMOs, you'll probably love Blaster.my buddy I work with bought the game as well. I think we are going to make new characters on virtue since it's more populated. We will prob play hero side. How is the blaster? I think I'll like a playing style like that better I'm not a big fan of hand 2 hand combat.
They're the typical "ranged nuker" or "glass cannon" character.
Basically, the yin to the Scrapper's yang. -
Quote:Well, TECHNICALLY you could fly at level one if you went to Firebase Zulu and bought a Raptor Pack.so I'm lvl 4 now with my scrapper... So far the game is fun but seems a little slow I'm assuming after you gain more skills it gets better. What level do you get to fly at? Is the best way to lvl questing or helping suvillians? Do you buy stuff in this game if so how? Also I noticed hwen I created my guy that I had to decide how he evolved tchnology mutation stuff like that does it make a big dif?
thanks
ps I'm typing this on my phone if there are spelling mistakes
But, since you're new, I doubt you'd be able to do that so we'll assume we're talking about normal travel powers. Since that's the case, you can get Fly at level 14. You must have first gotten either Hover or Air Superiority from the Flight power pool (available from level 6 on) to get Fly.
The combat does start a bit slow, but yes, once you get more powers it'll become quite fun.
The origins are mostly for backstory purposes. They allow you to create a backstory of how he came upon his powers. If he was born with them, you'd pick Mutation. If he got them through some magic ritual, you'd pick Magic. It's personal taste, though. They do have some SLIGHT impact on the game but nothing major. The inherent power you get at level one differs depending on the Origin you choose. Natural gets Throwing Knives, Mutation gets the Mutagen, Magic gets the Apprentice Charm, etc. You typically won't use this power very far in to your career, however. I usually stop using them by the time I hit level 6 or so, if not before. They're so weak that they become obsolete very quickly, similar to Brawl.
Origin also determines what type of enhancements you'll be able to use later on (Dual-Origin and Single-Origin Enhancements). If you're Natural origin, you can only use DOs/SOs that are Natural origin as well. You wouldn't be able to use Tech or Science origins, etc. This doesn't matter very much.
Like I said, the origins are pretty much just personal taste. Pick whichever fits the backstory and character concept you've dreamed up for your hero/villain. -
Quote:QFTHonestly I think that due to the short beta period (only 1 month or so) of i17 there may be some crashes and bugs that hit even after the thing goes live. That would be a bad thing to have happen during double exp.
A lot of the people I talk to say they hate DXP weekends for various reasons. I can't imagine having a buggy update interrupting the gameplay would make it any better. -
If I'm on a team and I'm about to level, I'll often use Self Destruct just for ishts and giggles.
I find it amusing to be vaporized and then appear out of nowhere without a scratch on me. The fact that I can obliterate any baddie careless enough to be near me when I go off is just gravy. :P
