Respec/Enhancements
Someone told me that there are enhancements that don't burn out, they were called IO's(no idea what that means). Which is perfect for me, because I really don't like consumables.

Only way for me to use these since I put the consumable enhancements in my slots already is by respecing, or so I understand. |
I'm also regretting choosing super jump over flight, which I must ask, why would anyone NOT choose flight? |
My plan is to have these non consumable enhancements ready for when I respec....but I'm not really sure where these trials are that I have to do to be able to respec? |

I have to ask...what purple wall are you referring to? Maybe I'm drawing a blank but I can't think of any zone in the game that has a purple wall. If you're referring to the War Walls erected around city zones, you can't get past those even with flight.
Like StarGeek said, Fly is the slowest of the travel powers, but it also affords you the best range of motion. Teleport is the fastest but requires you to target where you want to teleport to (this can be simplified with binds but it's still a trade-off). Super Speed is the next fastest but has no vertical movement beyond your regular jump. Super-Jump is the next fastest, but like you said it may not get you over every obstacle (although if you're clever, you can generally manage to find a lower foothold somewhere else to get some extra starting height). I would probably call Super-Jump the best "on-average" travel power; not the fastest, and not the best range of motion, but a good mix of the two that will get you to most locations in the game pretty easily (especially if you slot it a bit).
A final note about IO performance: level 15 IOs are better than even-level DOs, level 25 IOs are almost as good as even-level SOs (short by 1%, effectively just as good). I usually try to slot as many level 15s as I can afford by level 12, then upgrade to 25s at level 22. IOs are more cost-effective in the long-run, but getting your hands on some of the salvage can get pricey if you don't get the drops you need.

2) Why would The Hulk be able to fly? Or The Flash? Or Batman? Quite simply, for most heroes, flying makes no sense.

You can switch to the alternate build at any trainer and you can switch back any time if you decide you like superjump after all (but you can only switch once per 15 minutes).

Because it's so freak'n SLOW. I personally can't stand flight because of the lack of speed. SJ, teleport, and SS are all much faster.

Finally, it's completely reasonable for character concept to dictate your travel power choice. If you're doing a speedster like the Flash, you've got to take Super Speed. And if you're playing a character like Hawkman, you've got to take Fly. No question about it.
I play a lot of characters with Fly (most of my squishies take it). In my experience playing on teams, I'm rarely the last one to arrive at the mission. That's because I know my way around the city, know how to use the various teleportation systems, and don't dawdle once the team leader has put the mission up.
Fly is unquestionably the easiest and most reliable travel power. It works everywhere. Super Speed is incredibly painful in many zones: Skyway, Grandville, Firebase Zulu, Dark Astoria, Terra Volta. It's better if you know your way around, but that can take quite some time. Teleport is not reliable if you experience lag spikes. It's also a pain in the neck for many players because the targeting doesn't always work, and it's extremely difficult to chat while teleporting.
That's the other advantage of Fly. If you like to chat, you can fly and chat at the same time. With the other travel powers it's more difficult.
Fortunately, anyone can get a jetpack by doing the bank mission that you can do between level 5 and 9. If you missed that, you can buy jetpacks in Firebase Zulu for 10,000. This jetpack is much slower than the Fly travel power, though, and its speed is not enhanceable.
Though I like Fly the best, I take Super Jump on most of my melee characters. It just seems to fit better. I've got a couple of characters with Super Speed, event though it can really be the pits. I've tried Teleport several times and always respec out of it. I find it unusable unless I've also got Hover, and if you've got Hover there's no reason not to get Fly instead.
The travel power I get, if I even get one (which is rare these days) depends on the character I'm playing.
Usually, though, I just stick to a 3-slot Swift and Ninja Run.
To this 4/4 beat, I'm in time with you. To this 4/4 beat, I would die for you. Your lovesick melody is going to get the best of me tonight, but you won't get to me 'cause I won't sing.
It's a mindset thing. Think "I'm playing/creating a super hero/villain" and not "I'm playing an MMO how do I min/max for this game", at least at character creation time. Once you have an idea of what your hero/villain is going to be like, then worry about min/maxing them.

Ok just been playing a couple days and I've reached lvl 24 and I think I need to re-do some of the decisions I've made up til this point.

I'm also regretting choosing super jump over flight, which I must ask, why would anyone NOT choose flight? That damn super jump is just sometimes a bit too short to get over that stupid purple wall.
I'm in the university now trying to find out more information about invention/recipes and enhancements.
