Any chance PI could get some transportation love at some point? Right now every city zone in CoV is connected to every other city zone. But in Paragon City, every city zone, except PI, is connected to every other city zone. The current ferry to Talos could also be connected to IP. Maybe add a transport helicopter in PI connecting it to landlocked zones (Founders, Bricks, Atlas, & Steel).

Quote:Not necessarily. Even if advanced cybernetic prosthesis are available, you can't force them on someone. Some people might refuse because of personal reasons. Others may refuse because of religious reasons. So yes, there still could be people in wheelchairs.Maybe you haven't noticed but City of Heroes is a super hero game. The world has advanced cybernetic prosthetics available to everyone. Wheelchairs are a thing of the past. Antiques that are no longer needed in the modern world, and since wheelchairs are a thing of the past so are wheelchair ramps.

But seeing a characters set bonuses shows how much they've dedicated to IO Sets. I'm sure that there are more than a few 'leet noobs' who would discriminate against those without 'enough' set bonuses. I know it's silly, but I'm sure that it's happened.

At $9.99 I'll be able to get that secondary account cheap. I wouldn't have to if they devs would allow offline SG invites and promotions.

Quote:If that's the case, I guess the secret is to run the mission with Bosses enabled so Frostfire won't die (or won't die so quickly). If I get that tip again, I guess I'll give it a try that way and see what happens.Well, I just did it again.
I was wrong about 5-6 waves. In fact it was 10 waves + boss in the end. Each wave started with NPC dialog. In addition to sappers and operation engineers, I had tactical operatives in the mix. Still waves consisted of 2 foes with 1 wave consisted of only one Operation Officer. Frostfire spawned as a boss was very strudy and was excellent as a meatshield. During whole encounter his health was never below 95% and he pwnd incoming vawes very quickly.
Maybe, I'll FRAP it next time -
Quote:I'd have paid $9.99 if they had included all this with the party pack. What the Party Pack should have been (in addition to what it is):
Costume pieces:
Party hat costume piece (two types - pointy and paper crown)
Bow costume pieces (party gift bows for Chest Detail, Gloves and Shoulders i.e. around neck).
Colourable "Raver" neon band costume pieces (sunglasses, necklace, wrist bands, Chest Detail)
Masquerade Face costume piece (3 types, one similar to a carnie mask, one an elegant/elaborate eye mask and one similar to a Banished Bantheon Tiki mask).
Emotes:
Party whistle emote
Jump out of cake emote
Throw Streamers emote
"Protest" emote where sign says either "Happy Birthday!", "Happy Holidays" or "Party Time!".
Power:
Make a Wish power (animation of lifting a cake with candles and blowing them out. The power grants the same buff as Mystic Fortune, but on self. Does not stack with Mystic Fortune). -
Well then hopefully the devs are keeping track on which tip missions get abandoned. That way if they see this mission getting dropped more than all other tip missions combined, they'll do something about it.
-
I'll have to pass on this pack as well. I mean, it's a party pack so where are the party hats? How about some novelty party glasses? Where's our lampshade?

I've done the "Save Black Panther 952" twice, and won't do it again. After the second time I /bug'd it, and even stated in the bug report that because of this problem I will Dismiss that tip every time I receive it in the future. Had this been any group but Malta it probably wouldn't have been so bad, but on my last attempt I had 5 sappers pretty much making it impossible to do anything.

Quote:That's whats annoying me the most about this whole situation. Two days in and I haven't created any new characters because I was planning my builds around trying out the pre-order enhancements. Since they are getting the mouse pads out tonight (UPS is finally showing tracking information), hopefully emails will soon follow.I'm pretty ticked off as well. They effectively sent an incomplete product, considering I purchased through them in order to get the additional items.
I can't create new characters tonight because I'd lose the items I'm supposed to have.
Very badly done, particularly the failure to notify customers.

WooT! Just checked and my mousepad now has a tracking number. It's not updated with the UPS website yet, but at least it looks like they're getting them sent out today.

* Like many others, I avoid deliberate misspellings, letter substitution, and l33t speak when naming characters. Unless I just have to play the character right that second, I'll save the costume and power customization and come back at a later date. Otherwise I'll refer to online name generators (Seventh Sanctum) and a thesaurus to try and come up with alternate ideas.
* Always have at least a simple character concept and background, even if it would only be a couple of sentences in the characters description.
* All heroes start in Galaxy City. It's so much quieter there.
* Level 5-10 heroes when choosing new contacts will not chose an Atlas Park contact if it can be avoided.
* At level 10, all VEAT's upon getting their bonus costume slot from the VEAT contact mission, must use it to make a 'Heroic' costume. It's part of the contacts story arc to pretend to be a hero so it just makes sense to look like one.
* Flyers will turn off fly when entering non mission buildings, unless entering the building as part of a mission. Flyers also turn off fly when interacting with NPC's.
* Characters will turn off toggles if they are going to be interacting with NPC's for an extended period of time, like buying/selling at the market. Usually accomplished by using the 'Walk' power. Personally, I love the power suppression in the Praetorian market. It's so nice and quiet in there.
* No repeat AT's on Justice
* No non Stalker on Freedom
* Avoid repeating power sets on the same AT (especially primary sets), unless it fits the characters concept/background.
* Always do the badge missions from each tier.
* Always do the zone story arcs (Faultline, Croatoa, Stirga, Hollows, etc...).
* No taking Vet powers unless it fits the character concept/background. -
Actually, the closed beta started on May 6. That's the date the devs gave during the SDCC2010 panel. At that time, the only thing to test was side switching, Kinetic Melee, and Electric Control. No Praetoria. No Incarnates. And you wouldn't believe the bugs we had to deal with when they tried to open up Praetoria.

Quote:Actually, they had a plan to deal with costume code sellers. First you had to get your badge scanned to show you hadn't been to the booth already. Then they had a computer set up and they made you log into your account before they would give you a card with the code. Sure the systems not perfect, I could have easily had my brother get his badge scanned and then log into my account to get an extra code. But it probably helped keep the codes out of the hands of greedy non-players who were looking to make some money.Wish I was able to go to Comic-Con. Not to meet the Devs but to just pick up a few of those free costum codes, that way I too can sell them on ebay for $250+ each.
Sad that we fight RMT in game then the lucky fans of the game go and be greedy like that...
As of this posting, there are only three codes up for purchase on EBay. After checking completed auctions (all 12 of them), the most anyone has bought one for is $50. -
Quote:Well, I ended up going to a bunch of low profile panels. The only real wait I had was getting into Hall H for the WB pannel on Saturday morning. And the only reason I even got into the Mythbusters panel was that I went hours earlier to that room for Warehouse 13/Eureka panel and didn't leave. And for that one, I got there one panel early and sat through Cartoon Voices I which I HIGHLY recommend. Definitely my favorite unplanned panel that I attended. But the rest I ended up going to were still fun. Heck, the 'Iron Man and Rocket Men" panel before the CoH panel was really interesting.I'm surprised you had down time between panels. I skipped most of the panels I wanted to see because it seemed I would have to get in line 2-3 hours before they started in order to get a seat.
And Preview Night is actually the perfect time to shop in the Exhibit Hall and/or arrange commissions from the artists in attendance. I'm glad I decided to buy my 4-day (+ Preview Night) pass for next year on Thursday. Now I just have to worry about getting a hotel room, as usual.
Besides, I don't really have room for collectibles anymore. The only things I actually got at the exhibit hall were an Emily the Strange poster and Super Stuper #3 (plus a free sketch from Randy). I also got an autograph from Bill Moseley (Otis from the Devils Rejects) in the Sails Pavilion. I did find time to wander the entire exhibit hall, but there wasn't a whole lot that jumped out and screamed "BUY ME!!!!!". -
Except for a few movies and anime screenings, the only thing to do on preview night is wander the exhibit hall. So you aren't missing much by not going to preview night. Personally I had a lot more fun attending various panels on Thursday through Sunday. During my downtime between panels I had plenty of time to wander the exhibit hall to buy stuff and collect swag.

I know it's hard to believe but: http://www.collider.com/2010/07/27/c...dges-sold-out/
If you still want to go, don't worry. Regular passes will go on sale in August, they just won't include preview night. -
Quote:Reread what he said:Has that been confirmed yet? That you can't use Incarnate abilities in typical level 50 content?
.
That sounds like if you exemplar down even one level, all your Incarnate abilities stop working. Apparently some of the beta testers didn't like that it was an all or nothing reward. -
Quote:Well, unless they are testing more power sets than Kinetic Melee and Electric Control I'm pretty sure they will have a handle on those. That pretty much leaves testing Praetoria and Side Switching as the major additions. Here's hoping they avoid the method used by A Certain Other Game then, namely release something new and then proceed to hit players with a serious of absolutely massive nerfs in the name of "balance." One could rightfully ask what is the point of a beta period if one is going to resort to such tactics?
A larger heaping helping of Epic Fail can scarcely be imagined. -
Quote:SDCC doesn't clear the room between panels. Sometimes people will attend an earlier panel so they can stay in the room for later panels.Edited because I probably misinterpretted your statement about that room later in the day.
I know last year on Thursday, Hall H (which holds 6500) was over run with room campers for the first two panels because the third panel was for that awful Twilight movie. I talked to someone who was in there during those panels who said that he saw Twilight fans sleeping during the panels or talking amongst themselves, completely ignoring the panels that were going on. This meant that hundreds (yes hundreds) of people that wanted to see those first two panels couldn't get in.
Thankfully there doesn't seem to be any Twilight in Hall H this year. -
Quote:It doesn't have to be perfect when it goes in the box. Many online games get shipped out with bugs on the disk. I've lost track of the number of games I've bought on their release date, got them installed, then when I tried to go online... downloading patch... installing patch... now I can play. How are they going to begin opeb beta on the 27th of July or 3rd of August and still ship a finished product in time to hit store shelves by Aug 17th? This isn't justa normal issue, they actually have to have it done and as bug free as possible in time to ship out in box form. I'd think they would need to have Beta wrapped up and be confindant with thier final product no later than the first week of August in order to have in in stores by the 17th.
Now I would assume they will continue beta after that point because it is a game that is updated regularly and they will still be bug searching and doing minor tweeks after it ships. I just can't imagine them shipping out a boxed version that is still full of bugs and hasn't completed the beta phase. Maybe I'm wrong.
Besides, I think the closed beta has been going on a lot longer than people realize. Which hopefully means the testers have found lots of bugs and the devs have been able to squash them (the bugs not the testers).
