Will we be RPing as if it's the team's first meeting? Or will we be running under the assumption they've all met before?

Gonna take some getting used to the interface. I basically went through and went all click happy, following CoH folks whether I knew them or not. :3

Quote:This song always put me in mind of Gomez Adams for some reason. I think it's the gentleman-ish villain style of it. Very joyous and embracing of the darker side in a friendly way.Irken - Voltaire - When Your Evil

"The city hasn't seen anything this horrible since Baumtown, and this is what you're focused on?!" The hallways of TMBH's base were filled with the sound of arguing. The louder, more irritated of the two was the a voice with a resonant metallic echo; the voice of the robot Rusted Woot. Rusty was a collection of odds and ends of the robotics world; a mishmash of spare parts and clunky gears barely held together by oil, grease, and the hard work of his mother. That same mother he was currently yelling at. "What's wrong with you? I thought we were past all of this!"
"We are past it!" Penny shouted back, her raven hair whipping around her head as she did so. The bright blue goggles she wore over her eyes hid the angry behind her voice, though her frustration was very evident. Frazzled hair, hunched shoulders, a slight twitch in her cheek. The disaster at Galaxy City had an impact on her, but it wasn't quite the impact that one would expect. "This isn't science for science's sake! Not anymore. I'm doing this -for- Paragon!"
With a grunt Penny turned back to her worktable, the mechanical right arm giving a pneumatic hiss as she returned to her work. Stretched out on the table were odds and ends of various 'mad' machinations; tools, robotic pieces, and most disturbingly, chunks of Shivans. Some in jars, some in stasis fields suspended above glowing tubes, and some just plain old wrapped in tinfoil. Hey, stasis fields were expensive.
Ever since the disaster, she had been hard at work. Though the Woot family hadn't lost anyone in the attack on Galaxy, the ramifications for the entire city were widespread. Lives were lost, homes were destroyed, and the world was now clued in to a very real and very dangerous fact: Paragon City was vulnerable. It was only a matter of time before outside forces would try to take advantage of that. Penny, Square Woot, was determined not to let that happen.
"You're going down the same path." Rusty warned, his concerned, mechanical voice echoing from behind his mother. "You remember the Hydra? The Lost? What about that Clockwork gear? That thing's still probably running around the air vents somewhere!"
"This isn't like any of those." Penny grumbled, and started to unwrap one of the tinfoil bundles. She pulled it open to reveal a disgusting, charred piece of flesh...only to realize a moment later that it was a piece of fish. A note was packed in with it, reading only "Meepy moop!"
"...tell Pengi to stop packing me lunches." Penny swept the fish into the garbage, and pulled another tinfoil-wrapped chunk to her. Once she determined it was indeed a piece of a Shivan this time, she took her tools and started to explore. "Rusty, I understand your concern. But my head's on straight this time. No crazy schemes. No evil plans for world conquest. That's all behind me."
"...I hope you're right." Rusty murmured, and stepped up behind his mother. A hand fell on her shoulder; the one with the mechanical arm hanging from it. He squeezed lightly, reassuringly, but also to reaffirm his stance. "Because the city doesn't need another villain right now. We're seeing a genesis of new heroes we haven't seen since the Rikti Invasion. People care again; they want to help, to make a difference."
"So do I." Penny responded, and the room echoed with the sickening crack of breaking apart cindered Shivan flesh. "I haven't done hero work in years. Not real work, at least. I need to do something now."
"Then do something." Rusty responded firmly, and his hand left his mother's shoulder. "Do something that isn't going to tempt you. Hit the streets again. Take the gun, dust it off, and shoot some bad guys. But please, Mom, I'm begging you." At that, Penny finally turned back to look into her son's eyes.
"...I don't want to lose you to yourself again." He finally spoke, and turned away. Without another word, the little robot walked from the room, leaving his mother alone.
Surrounding her were the marks of a genius in turmoil. For every brilliant mind, there was the capacity for great good...or great evil. It was a line she had crossed far too often. It was a boundry she had a natural inclination towards violating. For every news article that started with "Square Woot Saves Day," there was one that began with "Square Woot Threatens Paragon." The young woman sat alone for several moments, looking at the bits and pieces on her table. The experiments were already hinging on the mad; possibly even the inhumane.
She knew it, that Rusty was right. She was walking that path again. -
The composed stuff in Turtles was so much better than the cheesey rap tie-ins. :3 T-U-R-T-L-E POWER.
For Square Woot, her theme has changed over the years. Now it's currently Rox 300 from the Scott Pilgrim game:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2j51-WosUM I think the classic sound fits the character's personality than lyrics could. At least from a concept/fighting theme. I've been storyboarding her upcoming romance in the comic, and this song keeps popping up in my head:

This thread is going to be fun. >.> I love character theme songs and stuff. I'm usually the geek that quickly YouTubes any song someone has listed in their bio, whether I know them or not. -
I recently started playing around with my old Scrapper, a kickboxing nun. Toying around with IOs somewhat, I saw that I was able to get a reasonable amount of defense (about 20% to melee,) significantly boosted regen, and a bit of extra recharge by slotting 4 LotG recharge boosters. (One each in Weave, Moment of Glory, Manuevers, and Combat Jumping.) My official build wasn't very official though, and I'm inclined to not post it simply because Mids isn't updated yet with the new powers. (Though I have the Mids file at home and can post it, but for now I'm more curious about plain old discussion.) She took the final tier of the Jumping pool, 4 slotted with Devestation. It doesn't seem particularly useful, and I'm unsure of whether or not to keep it.
Basically, what I'm hoping for is just a bit of advice. As a Regen, am I okay with slotting mostly to build up my regeneration? With all the healing sets, I think I managed to 5 cap my 12% and 10% healing bonuses. My defense numbers aren't huge, but hopefully enough to let the massive regen help out.
My recharge is high enough that my MA powers follow a simple chain: Storm Kick, Cobra Strike, Axe Kick, Eagle, repeat. For groups I have Dragon's Tail, but don't use it often since it seems like a fairly lousy AoE.
Toggle-wise, I run Focused Accuracy, Tough, Weave, Integration, Manuevers, and Combat Jumping. Thanks to Stamina, QR, and physical perfection, I haven't noticed any end issues yet, but haven't been in any particularly long fights.
My incarnate choices are going to be as follows:
Alpha: Spiritual for the Recharge and Healing Boost. Seems like a perfect fit for Regen. Not to mention more build ups.
Judgement: Fireball one; can't remember the name. >.> A little bit of ranged bang for a character otherwise lacking it.
Destiny: Barrier all the way. More defense for regen to do its thing.
Interface: Reactive, like everyone else!
Lore: I usually reserve this as an RP option. As such, leaning towards either Rikti or Cim since the character has a history with both.
Any thoughts? I'm sure MA/Regen is a fairly common build, but couldn't find any up to date guides on it. -
(( Fascinating work, and I love the visual aides! ))

Quote:Oh, Woot'll totally volunteer. Not that an egotistical mad scientist with one arm and a flat chest will bring in the bids! XDYes! I'm hoping to see a few volunteers and people elected from the crowd to get everyone at the party involved. Of course if anyone is uncomfortable with the idea or simply doesn't want to participate they don't have to. But I think the key to this being fun will be group participation.

This was a really robust little costume piece pack. If future ones are as plump with goodies as this one, I have no problem shilling out my monthly point stipend to it.
-
Sounds like a lot of fun! Will we be able to volunteer for the player auctions?

Quick question, is this ten in the evening EST?
Really neat idea. Reminds me of Star Trek; how they'd show random recitals that the crew did. -
Looks good! With all of Ari's rerolls she has like thirty costumes by now! :3

Quote:Thanks, Henri! This is just brilliant on every level of brilliance! And great idea on the techie-minded persona for CatBot (CR
), it's all good
I couldn't log in since last week, so here's yesterday's comic. APM and Woot finally meet face to face, even though Woot doesn't know it's the person that's been humiliating her in Halolz for the past month.

Quote:Yay, I can log into the forums again!Just wanted to point this out Spotlighted!
I saw that a few days ago, Fey, still not quite sure how it happened, hehe. I'm totally jazzed it did though; I was always kinda worried the comic didn't fit in with a lot of the SJ ones since it wasn't anime oriented.
And Silverton, I'd be happy to sneak your character into a guest comic, though it might be a while since the current story arc doesn't have a lot of space for them. (Most of the cameos are going to be done once the primary group is established as heroes, and I can get into the superhero swing of things.) Send me a PM with some screenshots of your character, and maybe a little info about them. (Hero, villain, etc.) -
Thanks! I checked things out, and it does sound like it'd be a fun, tight-knit group to be a part of. I sent in a PM.

Quite good indeed! Those projects require sooooo much patience and time to complete, and anyone that can stick with it so long definitely cares about it. The best part is, next time you should be able to make one quicker!
-
Can you tell me a little more about it? I'm looking for a heavy roleplaying SG, and I wouldn't mind getting in on the ground floor of a project like this. Do you have a Guild Portal site that can be checked out?
-
I kinda want to make a Beam Rifle/Devices blaster version of my main, but she already has two versions. >.> I'm not sure if I want/need three of her running around.
Right now I'm looking at two options, one Defender, one Corruptor. Force Field/BR for Defender, and BR/Poison for Corruptor. I've never given either of the ATs a fair crack at things, never even had a corruptor past level 5. -
Quote:This. It helps to practice as you level, though. Always try to tank on the opposite side of your bots, especially against foes that have AoE attacks. You can solo AVs on SOs alone with Bots/Traps.
All you really need is [Provoke] and one of the two defensive shields. Webnade helps a lot by keeping them immobile too.
When you add IOs and Incarnate Powers into the mix, there's little they can't do. -
Mercs are indeed low on the damage scale. They're a little easier to handle than Thugs since the Bruiser is a melee guy, and the Arsonist likes to get killed, but their DPS is rather low and they have no significant utility.
Bots are simply a beast, and generally regarded as (one of) the best options available for a Mastermind. They're ranged, they're durable, and with Force Field Generator they can have surprising defense numbers. I have a Bots/Traps and a Bots/TA, both at 50. They both play well, better than any other MMs I have, but the Bots/Traps can do things the TA simply can't do, like effectively tank. That said, I feel like I contribute more in a fast moving team with TA, since you can generally get your debuffs out there quicker.
I agree with Dechs in that TA is a very underrated set. Fast, effective debuffs, and a grab bag of different things at that. The only thing I dislike about it is that it has an inordinate number of placed powers, but that's just because I'm not a fan of the targetting reticule.
