Far, far too young. Always terrible to hear about a loss in the community like this. Condolences and prayers to his family.

Damn, but Paragon got irritating with all its rules. One week, she was tied up with the paperwork from Hero Corps. Another week, dealing with the full legality of her turn to the "good guys." There were a few things she missed about the Isles; one of them was the ability to do whatever the hell she pleased whenever the hell she pleased to. Things were more structured here, and while the benefits of such a system were obvious, it made it difficult to reaclimate to when you've been across the border for so long.
Chip came in late, about two hours after Jenny. The door swung open and closed with an irritated grunt; it was usually how Chip came in. Over the past few weeks she would've given the impression of someone that, while not necessarily unfriendly, tended to keep to herself. She spent most of her time cooped up in her room, even though there was no TV, and heavens knew Chip didn't own any books. What she did in there was unknown.
This day, however, she crashed down beside Jenny on the couch, and put a boot up on the coffee table. Even though it was night and indoors her sunglasses remained on; possibly because of the nasty black eye she was obviously trying to hide.
"Hey kid." Came the murmured greeting before she snatched the bottle of tequila, took a long drink, and handed it back to Jenny. Her head gestured towards the TV. "What is this crap? Why aren't those robots just killing that annoying kid?"
(( After talking to Shakeup, Chip's still "part of the crew," just kinda running under the assumption I may miss from time to time. Especially until I get settled into my new place.))

For those of you waiting for Catbot to get what's coming to him, how about a sneak peak of tomorrow's comic?

Quote:Love it!
Oh, how much I hate the plaid. Love the pose though.
And now my back is yelling at me for sitting at the computer so long. Off to bed I go.Thank you so much; it's very very cute!
I cheat the plaid in Corel, and I've never been happy with how it looks in the comic. It's a pain in the butt. I'd never have the patience to hand drawn it. >.> -
Thanks for the advice all! The tips on caltrops were especially useful. :3 In the little bit I played last night, I can tell I'm going to be drooling for every time its cooldown comes up.

I'm slowly getting addicted to making builds. >.> I just wish I was better at them. Been working on this for my Plant/Psi Dom; who is leaning towards Fire as her ancillary. I put a focus on Recharge to get Perma-Dom, under the thought that with Drain Psyche and Seeds of Confusion Defense won't be as big a deal.
I know the set is purple heavy, but I have many of those purples stashed away, and after pricing the rest at the AH, they're all within my budget. Same with the LotG recharges. My basic plan for this would be an AoE monster, which I'm hoping is attainable between Rain, Fireball, and Shockwave.

Hey all. I know this question has been asked before, but my searches mostly yielded contradictory answers, possible because of changes that were made ingame. Was wondering what the current word is on damage procs in powers like Caltrops and Acid Mortar. Do they still work? Do they have a crazy long cooldown? Right now my Caltrops and Acid are slotted to help boost my +Def, but if I can gain some significant damage from a few cheap damage procs, it may be worth it to sacrifice some defense.
My other question revolves around two Pet IOs. Namely the Soulbound Allegience that gives a chance for Build Up, and the one that gives a resistance boost to all pets. I'm bots/traps, and with my heavy defense build, I pretty much have little to no reason to slot Soulbound since it just doesn't work very well. I have the +Def IO for pets in my protector bots. I was dedicating two slots on my drones; one for the Build Up and one for the Resistance boost, but that would ruin their current set, which is currently providing me an extra 3% defense. (I believe it's close to that; don't have the build in front of me.) Think that would be a reasonable trade out? I've heard the Build Up IO is best on the low tier pets, since they generate exponentially more attacks. -
I wasn't thrilled with the simply layout of today's comic, but with the move to the new place I'm kinda having to settle for some things to be a bit quick and easier. At least until I get moved in and settled!

I still want to play her because I love the character, but the weekly group thing doesn't mesh well with my oft-crazy schedule. :x So feel free to ping me sometime, if anyone would like to RP with her. I'm going to RP her as not necessarily working out with Gold, but still going for the hero stuff, since she liked not having to sleep on cardboard. >.>

Quote:Why thank you!I have gotta say a lot of people have tried to do a comic with this sort of frequency and caliber but you are the first in memory to succeed.

Cheers
*seriously this thing is 8oz of ice and cost 3.50!*And damn, that's an expensive Coke!

I hate to say it, but I think I'm going to need to drop out. I love themed SGs like this, but the scheduled playtimes are a killer for me.
I log in plenty of CoH time on any given week, but weeknights things just get way too chaotic for me.

Identities revealed! And Penny's sweet-talked a little. -
Went this past year, it was still pretty packed. I'm planning on going again this April; I got an artist alley table to promote Wootlabs. :3 We're getting a Sci-Fi/Comicon at the War Memorial in Johnstown this year, too. Crazy. I never thought the War Memorial would host anything but bad hockey.

ComicsWorld isn't very good. They're overpriced and the guy that owned it killed someone. D:
-
At least you guys get a KMart.
They have awesome video game sales, but by the time I drive out there to get to one, the gas almost makes it not worth it!

Is there a SG started yet for it? I ask because I notice we kinda...took the idea and ran with it, a lot of people rolled up before Jessie gave the okay in the boards with the naming situation.
-
I bought street justice today, which is my planned set for Saturn's Knight. I'm busy with moving until Sunday though, so I probably won't get to roll her until then. I want to hear the final word on naming conventions anyway; and maybe some background about the general story.
It also sounds like the group is evolving as characters that are free to level and do as they please; no scheduled day, which I'm finding works a lot better with my sometimes hectic schedule. -
I remember Elvis, not so much Igor. Unicorn Man was the guy who's hair was done with three buns stacked to a point; he always walked around with one pant leg pulled up around his knee.
Cool to know there's another Johnstowner in the group! -
Quote:Holy crap, Square Woot - I just noticed your location. I was born and raised in Johnstown! I lived there until I was 30 when I moved to York for work.
Yunz guys have fun in Pittsburgh and we'll see you next week!
Wow, that's really weird considering Johnstown's such a small town. :O Do you remember Unicorn Man? It was in the paper that he died a few days ago. -
Baaaaah, I hate to do this, but I'm not going to be around this evening.
There's a showing of Ghostbusters in Pittsburgh at this big theater tonight, and it's the day all my friends decided to go. Pitt's about an hour away for me, so I won't be home until late.
Sorry about missing two weeks; last week's schedule change kinda threw me for a loop, and this tonight is kind've a big deal for me. I've always wanted to see Ghostbusters on the big screen. :O Hope ya'll aren't too mad! -
I had no idea some people considered the G word offensive!
And I tried so hard to make an offense-free comic!
Anyways! Today's comic gives a little face time to Wendy, who's been underused so far:
Big thanks to everyone that's liked the Facebook page, too.I'll be doing two cons next year, and closer to those dates I plan to have some WootLabs products. I'll be doing a few contests here and there as I order the stuff, and I plan on using FB for that.

I'm not very knowledgeable about supergroups, but I can hopefully help in some other categories.
Oddly enough, Virtue LFG Beta has found me some good RP. Tons of groups at any given time; and you'd be surprised with how many RPers you'll meet through it.
The Pocket D is a mainstay, as is Atlas. You'll also find a fair bit of RP in any other high traffic zone, like the Rikti War Zone. I've even come across some RP in Cim, just because it's such a unique zone compared to the rest of the game.
If nothing else, feel free to drop me a line ingame: @Square Woot I'm always happy to help should you need advice or someone to run missions with, and always looking to make new RP friends! -
A little sample idea for my character, who I hope shall be the Knight of Saturn. Set in a timeline before she gained her powers; an example of her personality and life before magic enters into it.
"Chloe Chase from Channel 5's Hardline; reporting live on the scene of yet another vicious crime in downtown King's Row. It appears that a fight has broken out between the Skulls and the local Circle of Throns sect, and in the resulting display of carnage six innocent people lost the-"
Karen turned off the TV, a disgusted expression on her face. They reported the crime in King's Row like it was a rare event; some sheltered, isolated incident that only happened every month or so. In truth, it happened every day, ever hour. If she turned off the nearby box fan sitting in the window of her studio apartment, she could probably sit and listen to it happening. She didn't. She had in the past; and it only depressed her.
Her apartment was small, and it echoed with many noises. The whir of the fan desperately trying to cool an overheated room, the steady drip of a leaky roof dirzzling into a half-full saucepan, and the creak of floorboards under Karen's impressive frame. She was a strong girl, well muscled and tone. She had always been tall, but it was living on her own that had made her strong.
King's Row was a lot different from Kansas. The streets were dangerous, not just from petty groups like the Skulls, but the real lunatics like the Circle and the Lost. It had become all too evident early on that if she was going to make a life for herself, she had to toughen up, and she had to drop her farmer daughter ways. Some transitions were easy; for the first year of her life in King's she didn't have enough for a TV, and weightlifting had made for a decent substitute. Some transitions were hard; like remembering to lock, double lock, and deadbolt the door every single night. When you came from a place where every front door was unlocked and every floor mat said "Welcome," doing otherwise felt like abandoning an innocence that was difficult to give up.
But she had been in the city for years now, and she had given up a lot. Only a girl when she made the transition, Karen was now a woman just shy of twenty-two, and the stout but naive farmgirl had fully transformed into a hardened city dweller.
She handled the transition better than some. She was always practical. Never the type to dress up pretty and waste money on cosmetic priviledges like jewelry, she handled finances with as much ease as she handled toughening her body: with emotionless focus.
Dour, steel-jawed, the young woman rose from her bed, a hand lightly gripping a twenty-pound dumbell within its fingers. It was morning, and it was time for her morning regiment. Garbed in a tight fitting black tank top and sweats, the muscular specimen hit to her routine with startling energy. A dozen crunches. Two dozen laterals. Three dozen curls. Preceeded by fifty push-ups to warm up, and followed by seventy five push-ups to cool down. By the end her breathing was ragged, her shoulder-length black hair was hanging frayed and wet, and her pale white skin was glazed in a faint aura of sweat.
A shower later, and it was off to work. Karen threw on her trench as she left her tiny apartment; making sure to lock it up to protect what little possessions she owned. A sigh went through the woman as she walked through the streets of King's Row. Junkies. Dealers. She ignored them and moved on. She felt sick to her stomach every time she had to switch sides on the road to avoid the homeless, just in CASE they might be Lost. The city was worse than ever; and it showed no sign of getting better.
Karen stepped into the soul kitchen, the smell of generic processed meats striking her senses almost immediately. The stuff was barely above cat food, but beggers couldn't be choosers. As she went to the back of the kitchen to begin cleaning dishes, she spared one last glance at the crowd getting their daily meals. Weak, victimized, desperate. If she could do something more to help she would; but even a thousand push-ups wouldn't make you a superhero. For that, something magical would have to enter her life.
But after the transition to King's Row from Kansas, Karen stopped believing in magic a long, long time ago. -
