They Fight Crime! ...Please? (LF RPSG or VG)
Thought I'd add to this! I took my lunch break to write out a little story to give some insight to Victoria, and her unique relationship with Aliyah. These two could potentially lead to some fun group roleplay, and we're both looking forward to getting involved with an active, friendly SG.
Good evening, Paragon City, Im Chloe Chase. As always, Im here telling it like it is on Hard Edge. The attractive, glasses-wearing redhead on TV faded out, immediately replaced by fancy graphics and images for the news program. Hard Edge was known for telling things how they were, or so the catchphrase went. Well recognized by many of the civilians, the show took pride in bringing things to the publics attention. As the opening credits ended the attractive redhead returned, walking alongside a city block by the canal in Founders. The camera panned with her, as she spoke in a calm, and relaxed voice.
Founders Falls. A nice neighborhood to raise your kids in. Right? Well, viewers, Founders Might not have ghost ships or Eochai, but within these calm, beautiful city streets one of the most evil women in Paragon makes her home. She came to the front of a mansion, waving a hand towards it as if to show off its glory. This is the mansion of Victoria Lawson. Dont be surprised if you havent heard of her. Shed prefer it that way. After all, the only people that she cares know her name are the criminals she works for.
The scene cut to Ms. Chase walking towards a slowly panning camera, her expression now severe and cold. She talked with disapproval lining her voice, even though she seemed to be walking past Lawsons gates and into her courtyard.
Victoria Lawson is a lawyer; and she takes pride in representing the worst scum in Paragon city. The Council, Arachnos, the Family
theyve all been represented by Ms. Lawson in the past, and she succeeds in helping them beat the wrap with a disturbingly good track record. Shes even been called on to represent the Crey Industry in the recent scandal involving mutagenic material in YOUR kids soda.
A long, peaceful shot of the mansion is suddenly dimmed, and a dramatic single note of music implies its ominous nature.
Surprisingly, Ms. Lawson agreed to speak with Hard Edge for a brief interview. Needless to say, I was very curious to see how she could justify helping some of Paragons most evil fiends beat the wrap. People such as Archon Chelluta, a man arrested at a laboratory where he was running inhumane experiments on children. Theres a pause for dramatic effect, before Chloe continues.
Archon Chelluta is currently a free man, thanks to Ms. Lawsons adamant defense that his civil rights were violated by the apprehending hero. His whereabouts are currently unknown. Hopefully, your childrens are.
The scene cuts to footage of the interview, showing a shot of the woman in question. She looks stern, with cold eyes framed by wire-thin glasses, and a business suit of finely tailored material. As she listens to Chloe ask her first question she adjusts her tie, and levels her gaze in a menacing fashion.
You consider yourself to be a good lawyer, yes? Chloes first question is simple, and leading. It seemed that Victoria was all too eager to take the bait.
I am the perfect lawyer. Victorias response came without any trace of true ego in her voice; it was spoken with a deadpan matter-of-fact tone, as simply as if she was telling someone the time. In order for proper justice to be served, an unbiased mind and an unemotional mind is required. Many people have neither. I possess both. She adjusted her glasses briefly before continuing. Modern court rooms are a circus. Emotional witness testimonies, visually striking evidence, extensive coverage by the craven swine of the media. Theres a brief shot of Chase looking indignant at that comment. I am what the justice system needs. Uninfluenced. Calculating. Logical.
And you expect the viewers to believe that? Chase was quick to fire back, pointing to the other woman. There are some that would make the argument that youre not biased! Theyd claim quite the opposite, that youre biased towards whoever will pay you the most! Their motives, their true guilt is inconsequential to you!
Im a criminal defense lawyer. Victoria responded simply. It is my duty to make sure my clients receive the fairest treatment possible. When simple minded vigilantes cross boundaries they shouldnt, I step in to protect them. To use the over the top terminology of Paragon
Im the hero that protects us from the heroes.
Chase looked truly sickened by the womans words, and she grit her teeth as she forced herself to continue.
And what about this recent Archon? You think the two teeth that Sister Sentry knocked out of his head justify the abominations he made in his l-
The TV turned off with a faint buzz, and Victoria tossed the remote control back to the bed. The show was old; nearly six months by now, but they insisted on running it at least once every two weeks. Chase was an insufferable tattle-tale, boosting her own ego by running to her precious public with the citys dirty laundry. She was the worst type of the citys scum; a sycophant posing as a saint.
Victoria stood up from the bed with a stretch, still garbed in her bathrobe that she had fallen asleep in. It had been a long night of dealing with paperwork, everything from the current case the city was forming against Crey, to the invoice her contractors sent for repairs to the mansion after the Sky Raider incident. She had a good mind for paperwork, but it definitely took a lot out of her from time to time.
Padding to her kitchen, Victoria first went to the coffee pot, and poured herself a warm mug of it. The coffee had already been brewed and was left waiting for her; no doubt the work of Aliyah. A sweet girl. Sweeter than she deserved, no doubt. Not that shed ever admit it. As if to compound that thought, Victoria spotted a note on the kitchen counter, and her eyes drew to the words scrawled on it with interest. It was written in an overly fancy handwriting, and was littered with tiny hearts on it.
Remember the meeting with Portal Corp today at 2:00! Victoria read the note aloud, leaning back against the countertop. One more week and well be in the Shard. Pack your eyeball repellant. Ha ha. No doubt, it was written with much more enthusiasm than she read it. Theres some pancakes staying warm for you in the oven. And remember, you make me so hap-
Victoria grunted and crinkled up the note before she even finished reading it, wrinkling it into a ball.
stupid child. She murmured, and sipped her drink. Still, as the coffee went through her, she couldnt help but feel a small pang of guilt. Wordlessly she pushed the ball of paper against the fridge, smoothing it out with one hand and trying to get the wrinkles out of it. She slid one of the magnets to the top of the note; securing it to the fridge so she could let her eyes drift over it one more time. As she read them, gazing at the hearts, the Xs, and the Os on the paper, she couldnt help but think back to something Chloe had said during their interview so many months ago.
One thing is for certain, Chase ended her broadcast with one firm statement. Ms. Lawson is heartless, ruthless, and should be the most hated woman in Paragon.
As the words echoed in her mind, Victoria tilted her head, and softly ran her fingers down the face of the wrinkled note.
why dont you hate me, too?
I loved that little story; hopefully someone else out there does too. >_> No PMs or anything yet... -sigh-
There was indeed, I just couldn't figure out how to forward it to you before I crashed last night. Z_Z
You can build complex robots, but you can't even forward a message? C'mon, it's not like programming a VCR! You hit the little button that says 'Forward' in the bottom right of the message!
The hour was late and the boards were laggy and I was sleepy. ;_;
Excuses, excuses. Don't make me cry! I will!
So what sort of antagonists you looking for? I prefer playing villains, but I'm also one of the 6 players on Virtue (yes, 6, I've counted) who actually, y'know, likes RPing against those of a more heroic inclination.
Also, Johnstown? Wow, not that far away from me.
Tales of Judgment. Also here, instead of that other place.
good luck D.B.B.
I think we're willing to accept almost anything, but I've personally always had a fondness for Great Evil God (think Darkseid) and Obsessed Evil Stalker (think Joker, Hannibal) villains.
Well, the character Agonus (see link in my sig) is sort of retired for now. My current main villainous work-in-progress is Astronian, a cross between the Sentry and the Plutonian (basically a hero who goes crazy and turns evil). But I have all sorts of characters whose names don't begin with the letter A, and I'm sure we can work something out.
And fwiw, I'm also coordinating a new(ish) comic book supervillain RPVG. Contact me @the new black or the leader @drimble wedge if interested there. If you do talk to Wedge, just tell him I referred you.

Agonus is pretty cool!
I don't have an interest in joining a VG though. I'm just... not the villainous type!

At least you guys get a KMart. They have awesome video game sales, but by the time I drive out there to get to one, the gas almost makes it not worth it!
Don't you have a comic book shop though? Closest one for me is in State College.

ComicsWorld isn't very good. They're overpriced and the guy that owned it killed someone. D:
Ah, right, there is that. Wonder what'll happen with the Pittsburgh Comicon now?

Never mind!
Went this past year, it was still pretty packed. I'm planning on going again this April; I got an artist alley table to promote Wootlabs. :3 We're getting a Sci-Fi/Comicon at the War Memorial in Johnstown this year, too. Crazy. I never thought the War Memorial would host anything but bad hockey.

But I do intend on trying to parlay my involvement with the Dark Knight Rises into more sci-fi/horror indie movie roles. It'll be tricky for the 2012 show though, as the movie won't be out yet.

Google Maps shows a comics shop in Altoona; Comics Unlimited at 213 Park Hills Plaza, behind a Denny's. Has that closed, since the map updated last?
Just a thought, from down here in Florida.
Hey Cookie Monster, if "C" is for cookie, what is "N" for?
Golden Age & Early Silver Age Heroes (RPers) Wanted!
Batman PWND by The Insidious Termite!
The Internet
Contact me on my global if anyone's interested in having a villain to RP against. I might roll up a new version of Agonus too, dunno yet.
Since the thread has been thoroughly hijacked at this point, what the heck.

She's a young, goody-two-shoes bookworm from a parallel dimension with a star in her body and a song in her soul. The other one is a wealthy, self-centered criminal defense lawyer with a cold iron heart, silver tongue, and brass cojones. Together, they fight crime!

My friend (Square Woot) plays the lawyer, and I play the goody-two-shoes. We're itching to get some plotty goodness and character development going! To that end, we'd love to get some allies and antagonists... Please?
