  2. Spartan has the right idea with costumes. I'm actually using one (or at least very similar) on my toon.

As for naming, I'd stick to actual names, nicknames and codenames.

Example Character, John "The Hammer" Smith, Master Gunnery Sgt and all around badass.

    Names could be:

    John Smith
    John Hammer
    The Hammer

But I would avoid rank in names, as it denies promotions / demotions in RP - unless you want to pay for a rename.

    Chapter 0: Flash! Thunder!

In 2010 a spacial rift was detected above the Earth. Vanguard forces were put on alert and began tracking the object that emerged with various long ranged weaponry. Heroes and Villains alike around the world paused in their day to day life, expecting the worst, another Rikti mothership, or at long last The Coming Storm.

High in orbit the Heavy Cruiser Liberty Ascendant registered weapons tracking its position and prepared its own weapons, prepared to decimate all threats. Only quick thinking on behalf of Positron, who opened up communications with both the ship and Vanguard forces, prevented what would have been an apocalyptic occurrence for both parties.

The Liberty Ascendant was a Heavy Cruiser stationed in Earth orbit in a parallel dimension, serving as a part of that dimensions version of Vanguard, the United Earth Defence Corps (UEDC). In their own dimension they detected an unknown object heading for the planet, and after identification and communications failed, they opened up with all the heavy weapons at their disposal. An unknown chain reaction occured causing a rift in space, dragging the ship and the crew into an interdimensional rift.

The ship itself arrived in the Primal Earth dimension, with the ships AI Libby taking helm control and putting into standard orbit. However while in transit the ship suffered damage to the fusion reactor core, causing automatic evacuation procedures to be initalized. Still caught in the interdimensional rift, some crew were transported to Primal Earth at random locations around the world, while others materialized in the world known as Praetoria.

As Captain James Caine was unable to be found by the ships AI, Libby utilized her acting position as C/O and arranged a diplomatic treaty with the UN and Vanguard. In exchange for a mutual stand-down and free access to the Earth for the purposes of research and materials to find a way to return home, the Liberty Ascendant was drafted into orbital security detail, to interact with Vanguard to protect the Earth from global threats.

As the current situation now stands, the Liberty Ascendant is cut off from all her crew, with Libby overseeing repairs to the ship, via automated drones. In a "snafu" reminiscent of the Allied airborne landings in Normandy, the crew are scattered hither and thither. Armed only with their wits and whatever equipment they could grab during the chaos of the evacuation, the crew members must orient themselves, locate each other, and reach their hastily-described rally point - Talos Island.
  4. Wow. Colour me impressed, excellent lore crafting, I'll make some modifications to the story on our forums and throw this in.

As for your query concerning the heavy RP, my definition is that it reflects in characters power choices, name, costumes and SG team play - outside of SG teams you can RP how you want.

Most interaction will probably be done in base and in written stories on the forums, with the possibility of AE arcs created as the story and SG advances.
  5. The above is a rough list, I'm still looking for assistance over on our forums for storybuilding, but it should give you a rough idea with what to work on.

So long as no one minds, I suppose that's my best bet then? Just tell me what sort of things you definitely don't want, and I'll see what I can work with.
    Don't want:

    -Traditional superheroes
    -Non military toons
    -mutants
    -aliens

Throw me a PM on here and run me through your ideas and I'll offer some feedback if you want.
  7. Take a look at our forums and put in an application if you want.
  8. Some decent costume ideas there, thanks, I might incorporate some of the themes into the set designs.
  9. For all those interested, I've set up some basic forums for use.

    http://uedc.freeforums.org/index.php

Take a gander, fill in an application if you're interested, and we'll see if we can get this puppy barking.
  10. Alright, I'll be starting a Mercs/Something (Probably traps) MM in goldside to bring to blueside asap. I'll be knocking up a virtueverse page as well as some forums for all interested, in the meantime if you want to roll a new character now, Pm me on the forums with some details and we can talk over concepts, etc.

    Covert Ops assassin maybe.
  12. I'll be starting to PM you all in the near future, as well as probably rewriting some of the backstory. It's not set in stone yet, and suggestions are welcome.

The first issue is going to be prestige. I'm tempted to say the first toons we roll should both conform to the story, etc, and be a superteam to smash through content and rack up the prestige. Thoughts?

Expect to hear from me soon.

No idea, but I can knock something up if you'd like. There'd probably be two costumes, Combat and Dress Uniform, with an eventual third of casual fatigues.

Entirely robotic characters probably wouldn't need to wear them, but they'd all need to conform to a general technological theme (Don't want three different robot characters all looking vastly different if they're all supposed to be rather similar.) I'll play around with the costume creator and see if I can't put something up.

Corps actually, similar concept. That's what I get for writing at 2am. As to the question you edited out (Email notifications rock), to begin with I'd prefer that all members were UEDC. Modification of existing characters would be acceptable to a degree, providing they conformed with costume, name, back story etc. Once that main element of the ships crew (and base - designed as a ship) is established, then we could look at accepting volunteers to join the crew.
  15. I've been kicking around an idea for a Military Sci Fi RPSG for a while and I'm interested in seeing how many people would potentially be interested before I start setting it up.

The rough concept goes something like this.

    ----

In 2010 a spacial rift was detected above the Earth. Vanguard forces were put on alert and began tracking the object that emerged with various long ranged weaponry. Heroes and Villains alike around the world paused in their day to day life, expecting the worst, another Rikti mothership, or at long last The Coming (soon)Storm.

High in orbit the Heavy Cruiser Liberty Ascendant registered weapons tracking it's position and prepared its own weapons, prepared to decimate all threats. Only quick thinking on behalf of Positron, who opened up communications with both the ship and Vanguard forces, prevented what would have been an apocalyptic occurrence for both parties.

The Liberty Ascendant was a Heavy Cruiser stationed in Earth orbit in a parallel dimension, serving as a part of that dimensions version of Vanguard, the United Earth Defence Core (UEDC). In their own dimension they detected an unknown object heading for the planet, and after identification and communications failed, they opened up with all the heavy weapons at their disposal. An unknown chain reaction occured causing a rift in space, dragging the ship and the crew to Primal Earth and essentially stranding them there.

After communications moved onto the diplomatic level, the ship and the UN (mainly Vanguard) came to a treaty which allowed the crew free access to the Earth for the purposes of research and materials to attempt to solve the problem of returning home, in exchange for service protecting Paragon City and the Earth from hostile threats.

    -----

Every toon in the SG will be required to be heavy RP, every toon will be a member of the UEDC. The UEDC has fighters, technicians, military mages, covert operations, etc. The only group that isn't very common are mutants (Although cyborgs, the end result of military experiments, etc are acceptable).

So, after reading all that, is anyone interested if I were to go ahead, refine and start this?
  16. Stone tank living in Granite to be cheap build wise.
Invuln with a moderate investment can come close to granite and be more adaptable.

I'm not a tanking expert, I specialize in -hp debuffs.
  17. QR

MoG has two key uses in PvE. Soak up alpha strikes from nasty spawn/bosses, which regen otherwise sucks at.
And two, as a "oh crap" button giving you enough time to heal up and leverage enough damage to clear the enemy.
I'd sooner skip stamina on a toon than skip MoG on a regen.
  18. I have a BS/SD scrapper sitting at 49, I find it to be a decent combo.

Shield Charge and Whirling Sword to mop up the minions and LT's, the burst damage from attacks like headsplitter to take care of bosses. It won't mow down AoE or ST like some of specialized builds, but it works for both.

    patching error

It downloads the new patch, but when it goes to apply it stops and comes up with an error message:
    "Failed to rename C:\program files (x86)\city of heroes\cityofheroes.exe to c:\program files (x86)\city of heroes\cityofheroes.old"

    Please advise.

    Axe/ SR or WP?

Hrmm, it's been hard to decide. I might try Axe/SR just to be odd.

    Axe/ SR or WP?

Making a demonic minotaur and I'm having trouble deciding between SR or WP. Any advice or experience? I'm somewhat of a min/maxer looking for a good secondary to keep me godlike in end game. Prince range for endgame IO is 300-700mil ish.
  23. QR: More Masters badges are tasty, but I want to see tangible rewards.

    Reasons Masters badges are tasty:

-Encourage min/maxing (this is always a plus in my books)
    -Encourages better playing
-Good way to evaluate the upcoming Incarnate system

I havent' tried one, but I hear that Crabs have even better AOE damage.
Interested in hearing more about Huntsman farming as I have an Arbiter Huntsman build sitting close to 30, and gearing up for 50 in the next month or so (if I can knock out all these silly University assignments that get in the way of xp ;] )
