I think they said last year when they started the VU2008 channel that they'd started channels through 2080 or something like that.
What do we need to do in order to join the VU2009 channel? I want to be sure and get in before it fills. -

Yes, Joie, you can restore the history if you want.

That was suuuuuuch a life saver! -
http://www.virtueverse.com/index.php/Joie_de_Vivre
I started rebuilding Joie's page today - mostly spending a lot of time fidgeting around with putting a third eye on a picture of a real person. I can't for the life of me remember where I put what I used to have written for her original bio & background, which sucks because I really liked it, but at least I remember everything about who she is and her story thus far so I can type it out again if necessary.
I find the third eye hypnotizing, and I'm not sure if I actually met Joie that I'd remember to look in her conscious "normal" eyes while talking to her.
add: Ohhhhhh I am dumb tonight from this migraine!!!! I just remembered about that I could look in the history for edits on the page to pull that stuff out.
Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh lmao -
(bringing this back up until the stickies are swapped out, I hate bumping this more than you hate me doing it, trust me ><
-
Come on guys, please start posting your hero SGs here so we can get them to update our stickies. 31 views & nobody blueside to post yet?
-
Welcome to the new SG (hero group) directory for Virtue covering November 2007 to January 2008. Please quote this post and edit as needed for your SG listing if you desire. If something I have listed is irrelevant for you, don't worry about including it in your entry. If you can think of something major I don't have in this "template," feel free to let me know in a PM!
I'm going ahead and starting this since nobody else has & I started the VG one already & trying to get the attention to get the stickies swapped. Please help to be sure everyone knows this new thread exists by telling your friends who are SG leaders if you are not, especially until we get it stickied.
[u]Name[u]: SG Name
[u]Currently Recruiting[u]: you are / are not accepting new members, not recruiting new members but looking for other players/SGs interested in RP, not looking for anyone new in any way but wanting to let others know you exist, etc.
[u]RP Level[u]: RP-friendly, RP-intensive, RP-lite, nonRP, /sg IC, 100% IC spatial, etc., what degree of immersion do you expect or require?
[u]Theme/Concept[u]: Briefly describe your SG's theme and/or concept (Longbow or other NPC-oriented group, Single Origin, Single Archetype, etc.) or general raison d'ĂȘtre
[u]Activity[u]: how many unique members do you have, what times (of which time zones) are your members active, which days of the week do you see the most log on - when is your "prime time" (so to speak)
[u]Requirements for Membership[u]: must be at least level #, out-of-game communication on guild forums (please also list URL forums if different from website), no alts in other SGs, no villains on Virtue, daily log-in, etc.
[u]Leadership[u]: character name(s)
[u]In-Game Contact(s)[u]: Global @<name> for in-game contact(s)
[u]Out-of-Game Contact(s)[u]: CoH's Virtue Forum handle(s) for PMs or email address(es) for those interested to seek more information when not logged in
[u]URL[u]: the group's website
[u]Coalition(s)[u]: If you wish to reveal them here -you might also describe the nature of it - alliance, RP adversarial, functional, alt overflow, etc. or whether it is an IC or OOC associate
[u]Other Details[u]: feel free to add any other important information like base setup, frequency of TF/SF scheduling, prestige generation expectations / goals, or anything else of general but significant appeal -
grr - I've messaged them about getting this stickied ... I do not want to insert a bump message, but it fell off the front page.
Please - if you are in an active VG, let your leaders know about this thread so they can post in it and we can keep it on the front page where people can see it with minimal bumps. -
Going ahead and sticking Commedia in here just to show what I meant
[u]Name[u]: Commedia dell'Arte
[u]Currently Recruiting[u]: Happy to accept new members, but especially looking for VGs who would like to make a coalition for their members to use CdA's base as a Pocket-D alternative.
[u]RP Level[u]: RP-Preferred - 100% IC Spatial (mistakes happen), SG chat currently not IC, group chat OOC unless designated IC
[u]Theme/Concept[u]: Associated with the Carnival of Shadows, CdA exists more as a fringe group rather than presuming to know the mind of Vanessa/Giovanna or speak for it as an official part of the Carnival. Because of this, people who desire to be a part of the party but aren't Carnival characters are able to be members as well.
[u]Activity[u]: Just now starting recruitment (Nov. '07)
[u]Requirements for Membership[u]: We have no minimum level. Daily activity is desired, but not required. Registration and participation on the guild's forum is strongly encouraged.
[u]Leadership[u]: Joie de Vivre
[u]In-Game Contact(s)[u]: @Spectral Daisy
[u]Out-of-Game Contact(s)[u]: SpectralDaisy here on Virtue's forum, Kat on the SpectralDaisy forums
[u]URL[u]: www dot spectraldaisy dot com slash forums slash (avoiding bots)
[u]Coalition(s)[u]: Djeseru Holdings Limited - CdA's base is a nightclub
[u]Other Details[u]: We have access to teleporters for every zone, vault & invention table via Djeseru's base. Commedia dell'Arte's base is setup to function as a nightclub for anyone who wishes (and respects) it. -

The flashback system and weapon customization sounds really cool! Not sure what I think about the very rare recipes as I'm not big on loot-drop systems driving a game, but we'll see. This sounds like it will be a lot of fun - I'm definitely looking forward to going back in time to see history unfold in the Rogue Isles! Seeing the Children of Enos, Father Henri, the pirate siege of Ft. Hades and more will be very cool - hope they're included!

I didn't have time to look through all 20 pages yet, but I got through about 5 of them and hadn't seen 7-19 or so:
I love it - but is there going to be a City of Villains version of it? I adore this game and own both CoH & CoV, but I don't play Heroes. Is this to mean that I11 is only going to be for Heroside, or did the artist just not get around to making a Villains version? -
There are masks spawning around the beaches of Potter's Field in Sharkhead Isle now, too.

Forgive me if someone said this one. I didn't notice it, and it's not really a priority as in all the things mentioned that have to do with true, game-mechanics functionality - but something that has really bothered me since the beginning is how nothing seems to be set to an across-the-board scale of size consistency. You look at the podium in arcane-style decorations, and it's so tall it's made for someone probably at least 10 feet tall. You check other items such as some of the counter-type furniture and they are undersized. I haven't actually made a formal list of it all, but pretty much everything is to one side or the other of the "right" size. With the way rooms are big boxes, characters already feel dwarfed - having the furniture be so huge kind of accentuates that.
Other than that - I want to say amen to so many of the things on the list, and thank you for the effort and time you spent on consolidating it all. -
Thank you so much for this thread! The enhancements window targeting has been driving me nuts, and I had no idea why it was doing that.
It absolutely sucks that game companies won't support at least the top major brands equally since their customers can be so affected such as we are with this, but I guess that's just the corporate world for you. It's ridiculous that my high-quality upgrades I spent so much money on this spring are making this game perform so poorly for me. It's really disappointing because we HAD to upgrade our computers to be able to play Vanguard at all - but the upgrades I made to play that seem to be what is making this crash constantly and lockup.

(Forgive me for not reading all 11 pages to see if someone else has said this already)
I've been in full teams for fighting the Rikti in massive crowds in every zone from Mercy Island through Grandville (though St. Martial only 2 times and Grandville once), and I have only experienced this problem in Sharkhead Isle.
After the battle has been going a while, all of a sudden I get a sound loop & am unable to execute any chat functions with the keyboard. I can use the keyboard to move, but as soon as I try to enter the chat line, it does not function. My mouse will work ok, so I'm able to click on targets or set off Radiant Aura and Accelerate Metabolism when they come up again for the rest of the fight.
The loop never ends, though, even after everyone leaves. My hard drive is not running, and I can't exit the game or go out to desktop. At the point I try to go to desktop with ctrl+alt+del to shut it down or quit the game, it locks my computer up entirely (and the hard drive is not running). I left it alone for over a half an hour the first time it did this to see if it would "catch up" to itself, but it never did.
Both times I ended up having to hold the power button in to just turn my computer off. I'd been having a lot more game stability and performance issues before these two episodes than I remember ever having before, but maybe it's part of Virtue's generally unfortunate nature lately. I have no idea if this is the experience of people playing on other servers, but I know everyone on Virtue is having a lot of problem with the server kicking them off and other nice things like ruining TFs via mapserver disconnects, and customer service's response to it being:
"Thank you for contacting the in game support team. We understand that at times a server may become unavailable for various reasons due to maintenance or unexpected service outages. We apologize for the frustration as a result of this incident. However, we are unable to replace any loss in these types of instances. Again, we apologize for the frustration and inconvenience this issue may have caused to you and all players affected."
As big of an issue as Virtue's behavior is for us, this response feels like a blow off because there is no concrete information included about what is being done to make Virtue better. I know I am terrible at finding anything on these forums through the search function, so I hope I've just missed finding the announcement about how it's being taken seriously and is a priority issue that will be resolved soon.
I was running a roleplayers' site for another game until recently and have been getting people to come give CoV a try (or another try), but with performance like this, plus the infamy-seller spam - coming out of the situation we were in with SOE, I don't feel right in getting people to get their hopes up to try a game that's really fun but won't let them stay in it long enough to save a character and finish missions during peak play times.
I love CoV, and I love Virtue - it just needs to be stabilized. -
Has anyone tried successfully on this lately? I'd love to hear a success story for how you did it. Tonight was our second night in a row for four of us - a SS/Inv brute, stalker, Mind/Psi dominator, and myself - rad/rad corruptor - and then two new members in a thug/FF MM and a plant dom. It went spectacularly well through the killing the Wyvern, Legacy and Longbow hero guys, flew through the map of the CoT, then started smashing through the vines.
Then we had a group-wide mapserver loss at 11 vines or so when we were nearing the core - and when it came back, the number had exploded to 30 some and went up to 52, I think it was and wiped us out. We came back in, but after that point, we couldn't keep up with the respawning. We'd have 14, then it would jump to 30, then 37. We'd get it to 16 and then it would pop to 27, and hop again. The lowest we got it to after that was 11, and finally wiped again & gave up. There was never any gradual respawn, it always exploded by at least 7 or 8 at a time.
I'm hoping since everything was going so clearly fantastic until the server decided to ruin us that we'll get compensated, but there's probably some rule that the GMs can't do anything like that.
There's a difference between making something a challenge or torture. It would still be plenty tough if the vines didn't respawn at all or were at least set to a lower number. I don't understand why they made this such an infuriating pain in the neck. It totally ruins your night when you were doing everything right until the stupid vines went nuts.
