Last night when I logged into the game, my NC Launcher got hung up. The loading progress bar only got to about 20%, then just stopped. I re-booted, but it did the same thing.
So, I just waited. It did eventually complete, but I was probably sitting there for a good couple minutes with no movement of the progress bar.
Today, though, it loads fine, no problems. Don't quite know what was up last night. -
Quote:I feel your pain, Snow Globe. Likewise, to my knowledge, the KIR badges have been gotten by few, if any people, on Champion. In fact, Keyes runs are rarely done. BAF and Lambda, they're run all day long. Keyes, I can't recall the last time I saw one put together for even just a regular run, let alone a badge run.To my knowledge Triumph hasn't been able to get "Avoids the Green Stuff" or "Loves a Challenge".
As far as I know, I'm the only one willing to even organize Keyes Badge runs. We are two months after Keyes was introduced to the live servers. How much longer do the developers need to be shown that something needs to be changed?
And the attitude of "better be quick or you'll never get X badges" is completely repugnant.
I may have to move my main/badger to Freedom to have a shot at the KIR badges. -
To the OP: Gratz!

What's a good server with dedicated badgers who run the Keyes badges?
Because Champion doesn't seem to offer such teams. The couple of times I was on a PuG that tried for the Bunker Buster badge, despite clear, precise instructions of what to do, we had idiotic players completely ignore the instructions, foiling the badge attempt. (Yes, I'm still bitter).
Anyways, with the free server transfers coming with I21, I'm open to moving temporarily to a server with dedicated badgers, specifically for the KIR badges.
Any advice is welcome. -
Quote:Sorry for the misinformation. But thanks posting the correct info.I think you just cost me another $4 (or $6), curse you. (Or rather, kiss your feet.) I'll have to try that on one of my old accounts.
Edit: Tried it, and looks like it's only possible to apply it to a trial account. At least when I chose to use the code I was only offered trial accounts to apply it to. -
Quote:You may be right. The following is what the web site says about premium accounts and number of character slots:I'm pretty sure you will drop to two character slots open, regardless how many you have made.
"2 total, plus slots that were unlocked or directly purchased"
So, it's a bit ambiguous. 'Directly purchased' is straight-forward. But, what constitutes an "unlocked" character slot?
EDIT: Yes, you are correct. From the FAQ:
"One notable difference is that Free players will be limited to two character slots total, plus any character slots directly purchased or earned through Veteran Rewards. All existing characters will be saved and reenabled if a player subscribes as a VIP player." -
After reading through this thread, and doing a bit of investigation, I went ahead and bought a $1.99 CoH code. I applied it to an old trial account that was created way back when the devs handed out prestige bonuses (at the time, trial accounts had full SG access). After reactivating the old trial account, I immediately canceled the subscription, and my intention is to have this second account lapse into premium status.
To confirm, as others have, the CoH code purchased for $1.99 can be applied in one of two ways.
1. It can be used to create a new CoH account within your master NC account.
2. It can be used to upgrade a lapsed CoH account (trial or otherwise).
I'm an 84 months vet, and most of the folks I used to team with have long since left the game. This has created a problem in putting new toons into existing SG/VGs. I plan to create what essentially will be an SG-invite mule. This should be possible, because Premium Accounts will have SG privileges (while basic F2P accounts will not). Of course, my assumption is that premium account characters will be able to invite to their SG. (If I'm wrong, eh, it's only a couple bucks).
One other point. Premium accounts will be limited to two character slots, PLUS any existing characters. I recommend folks buying this $1.99 deal with the intention of having it lapse into a premium account create placeholder toons on all the slots. So, when the sub lapses into premium status, you won't be relegated down to only two character slots.
I'm pretty sure all of the foregoing is accurate, but if I'm mistaken in any area, I welcome any correction. -
My take is this. I wouldn't imagine the folks at PS would want a long period of time where potential customers could not take advantage of some kind of free trial program. It does make sense to discontinue the free trial program prior to the launch of CoHF, but not ridiculously beforehand. I foresee a September launch.
Of course, this is strictly idle speculation. Just my gut feel. -
Quote:Begs the question: So, when do we get to pick and choose any power...
Sorry to be pedantic, but this error in use has become so ubiquitous in the popular vernacular, it bears correction.
You should say, "raises the question."
To beg the question is to commit a specific fallacy in logic. It is more commonly known as the circular argument, when a premise presupposes the very conclusion it ostensibly leads to. -
Quote:Yes, on my third attempt, we had only the team leads attacking one door apiece. The idiot lead on another team didn't stop at the instructed 5%-10%, but just kept attacking until it was destroyed. By the time I'd realized what was happening, it was already too late. If that's the caliber of player I'm dealing with on Champion, I may have to move my badger to another server.Got the Mo Badge last night on my ice/ice dom. so now my 2 badgers have it.
W000t,
Thx everyoen who helped! -

I reside exclusively on Champion, and Keyes is generally ignored. Lots of Lambdas and BAFs, but Keyes runs are few and far between. On the few Keyes I have gotten on, the only badge anyone is interested in taking a run at is the Bunker Buster badge. Well, I've taken three cracks at that badge, and in each case, people have simply failed to follow simple, clearly articulated instructions. In no case did we even get past the first bunker. Each time some dumb schmuck ignored instructions to stop attacking the doors at around 5%-10% health. Was truly a marvel to behold, really. -
Quote:Interesting. At the moment, my main has 279 astrals, and 52 emps. So, if I'm reading this correctly, I'm only 17 emps shy of unlocking all of the cited goodies.
In order to unlock everything, you have to spend one of the following:
- 205 Astrals + 69 Empyreals.
- 195 Astrals + 71 Empyreals.
- 185 Astrals + 73 Empyreals.
- 175 Astrals + 75 Empyreals.
- 165 Astrals + 77 Empyreals.
- 155 Astrals + 79 Empyreals.
- 145 Astrals + 81 Empyreals.
- 135 Astrals + 83 Empyreals.
- 125 Astrals + 85 Empyreals.
- 115 Astrals + 87 Empyreals.
- 105 Astrals + 89 Empyreals.
- 95 Astrals + 91 Empyreals.
- 85 Astrals + 93 Empyreals.
- 75 Astrals + 96 Empyreals.
- 65 Astrals + 99 Empyreals.
- 55 Astrals + 102 Empyreals.
- 45 Astrals + 105 Empyreals.
- 35 Astrals + 108 Empyreals.
- 25 Astrals + 111 Empyreals.
- 15 Astrals + 114 Empyreals.

Can't be certain, but it's likely we teamed up from time to time over the years. A sad occasion to see a valuable game and forum veteran leave to pursue other interests, but understandable.
Best of luck. Oh, and can I haz ur stuff? -
In a free expansion or a paid booster pack, I'd like to see bases get some long-overdue TLC. In answer to the original question, "Hell yes!"

July 3, 2011.
My friend who is an avid comic book collector got me into this game, and I've been here since. My friend? Heh, long ago unsubscribed. -
Dinged 1200 over the weekend with the 81 month vet badge. Also nabbed 1201 today with my 10th Helpy McHelperton WST. Only 40 more to go for the next one. :/

An impressive booster, moreso in view of the previous two which were (IMO) lacklustre. This one definitely falls in the immediate-purchase category.

- Uncompromising: 81 Month Veteran Badge
- For 81 months in City of Heroes you will also earn a power called Return to Battle that will revive your character with full health and endurance as well as granting you large inspiration buffs. However, it has a very long cooldown time.
84 Month Veteran Reward
- Loyal Customer: 84 Month Veteran Badge
- In addition to the badge, for 7 years in City of Heroes you will be able to remote access the Auction Houses with the slash command /auctionhouse and gain an additional Character Slot.
Wow. Very impressive double whammy of vet rewards here. Well done, devs.
I've always thought a revive power would make a great vet reward, so I'm glad to see it implemented. And, the mobile auction house power is just plain awesome. I always wanted a base auction house interface, but this goes one better.
Thanks devs, looking forward to both 81 and 84 months. - Uncompromising: 81 Month Veteran Badge

I'm not sure there's many other powerset combos that made it any more difficult to solo back then. But I won't ever be able to delete her even though I'll likely not play her in any significant way again, if at all.
She's currently retired over on Freedom, after taking advantage of a free server transfer last year.
