I think I'm missing something. I found that playing as a stalker, while interesting, is very slow to lvl up.
Why?
Well... I can do "kill XYZ and guards" or "steal ABC" missions with ease... go in, grab the item/kill the enemy, and bingo, mission complete. Trouble is, this seems to give little exp on it's own. On the other hand, missions where I need to kill every mob on the level are a real pain, take way too much time, and aren't that fun. And don't even get me started on kidnap missions.
Sure, I can also team up with someone. But I found most people want a me to stay and fight the whole time after an AS... which is NOT what a stalker is good for.
So... am I missing something, or is it just the way of the stalker? -
That leaves us... what? The beach in Mercy Island? I could go with that.
-
I would like to confirm, I had the same problem with my stalker.
I move into a group and prepare for an AS on the toughest enemy. My team start to attack, and then, for no reason, I see that some of the enemies are FACING me, and try to hit me (they miss, due to my defenses). I'm still hidden, and if I'm fast, I can hit the proper enemy with my AS. However, a single hit will bring me out of Hide thus ruin the whole thing. -

Although the Mercy Square is a nice setting, it is also a high traffic area.
While this would be nice in an ideal situation, this isn't a perfect world where people 'live and let live'. The number of people that would call out 'nerds' and find fun in being disruptive would be enough to scare a good deal of the starting RPers, and lessen the apeal for a lot of the more 'commited' RPers.
[/ QUOTE ]
In that case the area around the big globe in Cap Au Diable could also suffer from the same problem. After all, there are 3 quatermaster nearby and an arbiter, as well as quite a few missions begin there. -
Well, it'd be best if one place was chosen. Running around and checking each and every one of those places for a RP group... *gasps*
I really like the idea about the Golden Giza... although anyone without a travel power (that is, the young characters) won't be able to get there.
In fact, the only place where EVERY character can hang out in safety would indeed be that square in Mercy Island, though it seems a bit boring and plain. If not that, then the spot around the big turning globe in Cap Au Diable get's my second vote. -
Heh... I've once had a hero call me a coward, because I would run away and hide for the next AS. Well, DOH! Works both ways I guess.
(Apart from the fact that he was lvl 42 and I was 22, and wasn't even slotted the right way) -

Don't take Dark Pit. It's totally the most useless power i've had during my 5 months i've been playing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Tell me about it...
I HAD it before the respec. Oh God... The idea isn't bad. I mean, a mass stun spell is nice. But not with such stats. Poor accuracy and even poorer duration make this spell useless. -

Cone range was removed some time ago - I think it was I5 and all powers which used it were changed to using range enhancements.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ha! I knew I wasn't as noobish as that!
[ QUOTE ]
I'm tending to go with a minimum of 2 accs on anything that can take it - at the expense of damage if necessary - its better to hit and do something than to keep missing. This is particularly important in PvP where you can expect to see purples being used but also applies in PvE against higher level foes.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmm... I've been employing this method before the respec. Naturally, I didn't realize the sets I picked weren't really designed for damage, but for support, so I was pained to see the small damage output, even though I was hitting the enemies more often (still, even on white mobs I had the ocasional miss here and there). In PvP however, I still missed a LOT. :/
[ QUOTE ]
Love the debuffs though - it great stacking them on a scrapper and watching them trying to hit you whilst you take your time and snipe them from melee range - Flurry of Blows - you mean flurry of missesor as I did in the last fight with one - chuck a snowball at her.
That lasted about 15 minutes before she swallowed about 5 pressies to get enough acc to drop my debuffs.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hahahahaha!
I had some situations like that back in Sirenes (besides the snow balls... DAMN, I still can't find em!). The only downside was that, while they couldn't hit me, I couldn't do enough damage to kill 'em. :/ -
[ QUOTE ]
I think a solution to this would be some kind of 'Mission Teleporter', with the ability to teleport you to the mish you have selected. Of course, to keep the devs happy, it would cost an insane amount of prestige.

Eeek! Where?!?
Uhm, on second thought... if people are going to turn their pets into colorful abstract art, then perhaps this isn't the best idea.
I want the colors to make my mercs wear green, military uniforms (like my char) rather than those grey jackets. -
Please, please! Pleasepleaseplease!
Ehm.
Can we get the ability to color our pets? I don't want any fancy stuff with what they're wearing, but I'd really like to be able to pick a color. It's quite annoying when the pets completely miss the color scheme my character uses.
So... uhm please?

Personally, I think the AI was never coded to work well with Hide. Seems to me that the programmers made it so that if you're hidden, mobs can't target you. But once a mob DOES target you, your on your own... which is never a good thing for a stalker.
Only thing they forgot, are missions where mobs have you targeted at the very start. Or the fact that you need to run through 1/2 the map to loose aggro so you can hide properly again. Well, basicly, they forgot about everything else.
PS. I don't think it's really related to hide, that on some missions, the ambushes will rush the last known position and wait there. I've had the same happen to my corruptor. I destroy/steal some item, and I see the general "Get him" bubble, I would hide behind a pillar or someplace far from where the stolen/destroyed object was. The mobs would also run there and then stand confused-like, and I don't have Hide on my corr. -
The most annoying example of this is a bank job with a large team. I think the guards go for the mission "owner". If it's you, and you're a stalker, you're in big trouble. There's not much room to hide in the bank maps, and when a large number of RIPs comes running and shooting, ignoring Hide, it gets quite bad.
PS. Is it me, or do those guards have an insane hatred towards only one person? I remember playing as my corruptor in a small team: a group of guards comes running, and start to shoot one, while the rest of the team begins whooping the rest... but ALL the guards were shooting at me, like I was the only one there. -
[ QUOTE ]
Btw targetting drone with IR goggles sees stalkers.
[/ QUOTE ]
I can see the whining once (for once at least) villains will take control over Sirenes and heroes won't be able to buy those extra googles. Unless you can buy them elsewhere. In that case, I'd like to know where villains can buy such goodies (apart from the arena). -
[ QUOTE ]
Isnt that your job on the team soul?
[/ QUOTE ]
What? AoE or heals?
If it's heals, I try to provide them. But if someone want's me to be a dedicated healer, they'll get dissapointed (UNLESS the enemies are all pruple, and the rest of the team is much higher in lvl than me...). If it's AoE... well, yellows, in limited ammounts I can handle. But as soon as orange or red (God forbid purple) mobs appear, casting AoE means certain death. Perhaps I've been teaming up with poor players, but I ALWAYS got agroed, and even if I survive the first strike, no one's there to help me with the second. SURE... there's a strong chance for a rez afterwards, but hey! I already got debt, thank's a lot. :/
But that's not the point, is it? It's about blaster vs corruptor dammage. -
[ QUOTE ]
You should just tinker mac. Theres nothing that can't be altered back and it doesn't waste pres.(...)
[/ QUOTE ]
If you delete a "made" item, you loose the salvage that was used in it's creation. -
[ QUOTE ]
I originally tried to promote the usefulness of the base hospital. The fact that for a reduction in hp and end ment that you didn't have a huge trip ahead of you. Now they are pretty much useless. You res with 25% hp and end and still have a trip to get back to the mission.[/quot]
My thoughts exactly!
[ QUOTE ]
Is it me or does the teleporter drop you in some odd places too?
[/ QUOTE ]
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep... Not at the base portal. I had the impression that it's mostly in the middle of the map, but I could be very wrong here. -
[ QUOTE ]
Not sure, I feel I deal decent damage at range, for a Corruptor anyway. Fair enough as the basic principle that Melee will always be stronger then Ranged, but I feel again it depends on your build.
Most times if a minion of the same lvl doesn't have resistence to Lethal damage, I can take one out with Snipe followed by Shotty. That's taking one out before they can even get close.
Though AoE would probably be my strong point, and that causes way too much aggro, and debt to follow, but all fun fun fun
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, when I solo, I usually do the following: turn Shadow Fall on, and try to find a large number of "white" enemies. I cast Darkest Night on the one who's the "last" one, then I run all the way back, getting aggro from all those wites along the way and duck behind a crorner, and then AoE their [censored] to hell in a few hits. That's really nice, solo especially.
As I said, corruptors are a really nice class to play solo. A class that can deal damage and heal can do quite a lot.
But AoE does't work well in PvP. In PvP it's all about single target damage, and that's where a blaster has the upper hand. Also, not every PvE encounter is good for AoE... or debuffs. In larger teams, where the enemies are higher lvl and there's a whole lot more of em, throwing AoE almost always means instant death. And a corruptor is nothing like a dominator/controller, so you can't "debuff" those enemies over there, who are killing your team, because the debuffs aren't THAT good, and it's AoE all over again (meaning: you get hit). -
Heals? Yeah, nice... as long as they hit. And hitting in PvP is even worse then in PvE. While 100% hit self heals are usually rather weak, and won't really make a difference (like the Freakshow healing before they die- annoying, but not really a problem).
Getting back to blasters damage. One thing I'd like to know, is if they do more damage overally (build up aside). I mean... if I'd take the same skill, a blaster and a corrptor with equal lvls, and no buffs nor enhancements, would the blaster do more damage with that skill?
If the answer is yes, then you can already see where it is going. More damage overally+more extra damage from enhancements (which are percentage based) + Build up = a lot more than a corruptor can dish out... and in a short time too.
It sometimes feels like the villains are missing a ranged damage dealer class. We get brutes, who are good when enraged, stalkers, who are one-hit wonders (close range so far), and then we get corruptors... which odly are far behind in dealing damage. And no wonder people think of corruptors as a support class, and tag 'em with the "you heal me, OK buddy?" tag. -
[ QUOTE ]
so far every time i used it i have came out my base at the base portal for that zone should think thats the way its suposed to be.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, it's not really useful then, is it? I mean... what's the point, if you can rez at the hospital, get full HP/END, and end up as close or closer to the mission in which you died. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
a good blaster could 2 hit a corrupter tho, dont see how a corruptor could compete with that kind of dmg
[/ QUOTE ]
Because a Corruptor can debuff the Blaster, or buff themselves, or heal between hits, etc.
I've taken out Blasters in one-on-one fights with my Corruptor. I throw Darkest Night on them, and their accuracy and damage is debuffed. Now they need to hit me more times to kill me, and they're having a harder time doing it. If they got a hit on me before I debuffed them, I can heal myself (And debuff them further at the same time). Up against an Energy Blaster? I turn Shadow Fall on, and then they're going to have to hit me a lot more to kill me. Sure, it's not as easy as just throwing out a few attacks at someone, but it means we have a lot more tools at our disposal than a Blaster... and as a result, if our damage were equal to theirs, we'd be far too overpowered.
[/ QUOTE ]
In a 1 on 1 situation, if you manage to throw the buffs/debuffs before the blaster does his job (so that his Build Up + Aim + whatever else he may have used doesn't kill you) then a corruptor has a chance, yes. In a team fight however, specialization will win: that is, heroes get classes that do a specific job, and they do that job far better than villains. A blaster teamed up with proper defensive classes is a VERY deadly enemy.
The one thing better about a corruptor, is that he has a much easier time soloing. And that's about it.
Oh, and yeah, almost forgot. Met this blaster, who would throw a stun on me (ranged), and then blast me to bits in 3 hits. I can already see how shadow fall would save me (it has a relatively long activation animation). -
[ QUOTE ]
Yep, it all evens out. Although technically they are as squishy as eachother, Corruptors could easily last longer.
[/ QUOTE ]
Evens out? You have got to be joking. The heals are nice, so are the buffs and debuffs. But lets face it, there's no balance between the two classes.
Did you check the class descriptions in CoV when creating a new char? It says that a corruptor has HIGH damage, and a secondary buff/debuff. Only... if it's high damage, why do some people expect me to be a SUPPORT class? I don't think anyone expects a blaster to act a supporting role. -
[ QUOTE ]
Aye, I believe we're aropund 75% of blasters damage.
[/ QUOTE ]
That AND we don't have Build Up. -

I got pwned in bloody bay by xanthus when i was a brute - did i start a thread about how controllers with hasten are uber in pvp?
[/ QUOTE ]
Look. We've spent months trying to convince Xanthus that he is the [censored], backward, never to advance for love or money, player that he is. And you post this?! Its Christmas. I Hope you know the pain you've inflicted on the PDs. Shame on you. Curse your family n'all that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, he's playing a villain, is he not? That's to be expected! -
*deep sigh*
I must be a real villain in my heart. I make people hate me without trying. Must be a talent.
[ QUOTE ]
Oh for crying out loud, are you trying to be so pedantic and irritating or is it inherant for you?
[/ QUOTE ] Seems to be inherent. Im not trying. And I fear what will happen if I DO.
[ QUOTE ]
You can walk through them as they are a cloud of dark miasma its simple concept so why are you trying to pick fault with it?
[/ QUOTE ]
I never saw one. So I wanted to make sure, as most pets get in the way. I was not trying to pick a fault.
[ QUOTE ]
You wer given build advise not just by me - you wanted advise from more experianced players and yet when given it you react like a spoilt child.
[/ QUOTE ]
EHM... Questioning people is acting like a spoiled child? OK... guess I shouldn't question that.
[ QUOTE ]
Sod handing anything into your english teacher - dont ever pick on spelling or english on these boards - considering you dont know me how can you know whether english is my first language and considering these are game boards why does it matter?
[/ QUOTE ]
Simply your sentence wasn't really correctly written, regardless of what your first language is. THAT'S why I didn't get it. And I wasn't trying to insult you. If I did, I'm sorry.
[ QUOTE ]
Conerange is NOT the same are range - have you just arrived here or do you have the lvl 30 you claim to?(j/k) I'd have thought someone of that level would know the difference between enhancements by now but it appears you either dont know as much as you'd like to think or are just overly pedantic about trivial matters which is why you are trying to start on me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Let's just say I never put +range into anything so far, shall we?
[ QUOTE ]
Nova's are what made blasters and later defenders fun - you wanna play for damage yet you shiver at the thought of a nova! Erm the highest damage power you get and your chicken of it?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup! Obviously. In other games drawing aggro as a char with little HP and then getting something to prevent you from taking any further action isn't the best idea.
[ QUOTE ]
You have done little more that show inexperiance and bad manners. (...)
[/ QUOTE ]
Again, seems like I'm a true villain. I never ment to insult anyone. All I did, was question opinions. All your answers (besides the comments about spoiled a spoiled child or the like... I hope that's just a misunderstanding; if not, you're just flaming) I've taken seriously and really though about them.
*deep sigh again*
OK, let's finish it here. Now, I'll try to be as pedantic as I can:
"You're replies have been noted and will be taken into consideration".
There, was that pedantic enough? This time I was doing my best!
