My little SG is making 30K per week.

    [/ QUOTE ]

How big is your SG? What level's are people? How many hours a week do you play?
  2. [ QUOTE ]
Maybe you can find those 75 people that can do that and hopefully they will rent themseleves out to help the others in the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't want that plot, and my point was the post said it was mathmatically impossible which is not true. It maybe impossible to do realisticly, but not mathmatically.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
The fact that we are seeing so many of these types of folks "coming out of the woodwork" to post about the inaccessibility of bases to small SGs and individuals should REALLY make the developers stand up and take notice.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Does the fact that most of these people are actually wrong, and a small (8-10 member) SG can pay for a base in 2-3 months time count for anything? A small functional base comes in at 1.2 million prestige BTW.

Most of these people are simply buying the exaggerated prices people are ranting about, and have no idea how much a base truly costs. A lot of people don't also have a good feel for how much prestige they can make a day...
  4. [ QUOTE ]
In the meantime lets keep providing fact based evidence of how the system doesn't work.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It doesn't work according to whom? You or the Dev's. Yes that was a retorical question... I know who doesn't consider the system to be working.

But based on everything seen so far, the Dev's do in fact seem to think the system works as is. Considering the effect the ton of posts had on ED, well... yeah.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
I don't really think that showing a "net gain" means that ED wasn't a public relations nightmare.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Bottom line is all that counts really. If the number of players is growing, and continues to grow that's all that maters to NCSoft. If the numbers continue to grow, while States is forcing CoH/CoV into his Vision, then he has no reason to do otherwise. It is this fact that is causing people like Nosy to be in such denial...

    [ QUOTE ]
Most of your new subscribers came for COV and the hype surrounding it, they really don't know or care what ED is.

    [/ QUOTE ]
That may be, but again the bottom line is all that maters in the end. But then again, the number of players have been growing sence after I3, so to say most of the new subscribers are due to CoV, doesn't match up. Unless you think people started playing 9+ months ago for an expansion just released.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
It hurts NO ONE to allow this while it obvoiusly hurts many people to limit it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not true. It hurts Cryptic a great deal. The faster someone can do all the content of the game, the faster they'll cancel their account and move on to something else. That means less money for Cryptic... Which hurts them a great deal.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
I'm not sure why some people get so much glee from being doomsayers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because in order for their cries of Dooooommm!!! over the various nerf's that have happened, to be valid. CoH has to be losing a large number of players constantly. If that isn't happening, or worse for them, CoH's numbers are growing... That means their cries of Doom, are false, and all the nerf's are in fact not killing the game.

It's very hard to argue that a given nerf shouldn't happen because it will drive people away, when consdering all the past nerfs, hasn't caused that to happen... Worse that CoH is growing, dispite the nerfs.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
If thats true States, then how come so many servers are a ghost town when traveling through the zones?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    *shakes his head*

Why in the world would someone consider their own very limited experance to be more valid then a statement by someone with access to the server logs???

I mean... What the??? States who most likely is getting emails daily at least with connection numbers says that there are more people connecting right now then ever before... Yet someone thinks because they don't see a lot of people States is either lying or doesn't know what he's talking about.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
So I thought, why not have XP convert to Prestige once you reach max level?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The main reason I can think of, is because right now everyone in theory contributes equally to the SG's prestige total. If they put in something like your idea, then lvl 50's would generate a whole lot more prestige for the SG then anyone else, something they want to avoid.

The truth is however, that the higher level people do actually generate more prestige, but not a ton more.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
While also increasing the def debuff of Uy from 5% to roughly 12.5% is too much. Our non-S/L resists are far too low, and it takes far too many slots (15 approx) to cap S/L now. Uy has gone from one of the lynchpins of the Invuln set to a liability.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree completely with this. The changes to Inv while perhaps not completely uncalled for, are way to much.

A inv tanker should be able to get their non-S/L resists up much higher then they currently can, they are as I understad it maxed out between 25-30%. That's far to low to be an effective tank.
  11. Someone else mentioned this, and I do wonder about it myself...

Other then keeping the IoP, what's in it for the defenders if they win? Will the IoP be sooooo good, that just keeping it is enough of a reward vs the risk being raided?

The IoP can't be all that amazing, I wouldn't think, or else it would mean a serrious departure from the idea of no loot. My guess based on just wild speculation, would be that the various IoP's would be on the same lvl as a accolade... +5% hp's, +10 points of end, ect...

But something of that limited power doesn't seem worth the risk of debt you might get by being defeated in a base raid. Assuming that you get debt in villian vs hero fights.

So again, if my SG gets a IoP, which means our base can be raided... What's the reward for fending off a base attack?
  12. [ QUOTE ]
You can't see the obvious advantages of having heavily slotted damage plus heavily slotted accuracy and heavily slotted END reducers? In *ONE* power?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can see what the advantage looks like on paper. But until it's live in it's final format, it's theory at best. Which means I expect the dev's to look at it when it's on test and make adjustments as needed prior to it going out to live.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Um, it's major. 200%+ Damage but +100% accuracy +50% END ruducers in *all* attacks will be brutal.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So how much testing of this have you done so far? I mean in PvP matches in the arena, on the live servers? You can throw all the numbers and math out you want, but until PvP arena's hit the live servers, it's all speculation at best.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
If done right, PvP will solve many Lack of Content complaints, which is why some, (myself included) are complaining about the current lack of equity.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree. Personally I think HO's should be effectively converted into SO's in PvP fights. With the first bost in the line being the only one that counts.

Does that serriously screw over those with HO's? Yes, but seeing how CoH was supposed to be a loot free game, I don't have a problem with that.

But I also do not think that HO's will be the death of PvP arena matches.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
They'd lose the extra bonus of hte HO, but not the dual-slotting advantage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The amount of advantage that gives is pure speculation at this point and means nothing.

In fact Statesman who is the only one to post in this thread, that has anything like real experance with the system, said that the advantage of HO's when exmp'ed down isn't major.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Most people want to play in PvP but in most other games they CHOOSE not to. For every single reason that has been listed in this thread.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Of course everything posted about in this tread, only maters at lvl 47+, which is the soonest you can slot HO's. That means for the vast bulk of people playing CoH, this is a non-issue.

Yet people are saying that allowing HO's in to PvP will be the death of PvP as a whole... Even though they can only be used for 3 lvl's.

    [ QUOTE ]
Two highest level ladders one a HOdown and one a NO HO zone, where is the problem with this? Is this not win win?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Sure, if you can come up with the point where HO's go from being a minor advantage to a major one. 2 HO's won't likely be enough to make the person who has them sloted unbeatable. 12 most likely will. So how many HO's does it take to get put on the HO ladder?
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Are you saying b/c I have a job and kids I can't play PvP?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I dunno what he's saying. But I'll say this, unless you are a competitive type person, and [/b]will not[/b] play PvP unless you rank high on the ladder, and are lvl 45+, and have no friends who can help you get Hami-o's in someway...

Then there's no reason you can't play PvP matches and have fun. If someone has them and whopps you, don't play them again.

I can understand that people are upset that the lvl 45+ playground isn't as even as it was looking to be. But I also don't think it's going to be the death of PvP as some have already posted.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
There us a ladder set up.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If someone cares about the ladder that much, then they're more then just a casual player. I've played in lots of games that have competitive laders/groups, and these kinds of people would have no problem putting in the time to farm Hami.

Most of the people posting here saying that Hami-o's are going to kill PvP, seem to feel that way because they don't have the time/desire to farm hami. These kind of people don't strike me as being the kinds who would be overly conserned about their ladder ranking.
  19. What I don't understand is this...

There's a lot of people posting here saying they don't have time to farm Hami for the Hami-o's. Ok fair enough. Given the number of people saying that, then it seems only logical that there will be lots of people 45+ who won't have them for what ever reason.

Which means there will be plenty of PvP action 45+ free of Hami-o's. Sure you'll never know before the fight if the person you're fighting has them or not. But you'll either be able to tell fairly quickly, and quit the match or forfit, which will cost you nothing other then some Infl, which 45+ means nothing...

Or you won't be able to tell, in which case it won't really matter any.
  20. Hmm I did it this weekend, and never had to repeat goals/maps as you mentioned. So it sounds like you had a bug going there. If you're talking about the Radar stations... It was in 3 different locations for me.

The whole of Striga Island is Amazing, and if that sets the standard for new zones, there's some very cool stuff coming down the line.

The Hess TF is far and away the best TF in the game currently. It's not to long, even if you clear out All the maps on all the missions, it's still only about 3 hours long. The maps are fun, and offer some very cool surpises.

Like others said, the TF as a whole makes sense from start to end. It feels very much like you're working towards a goal and that each link in the chain builds towards that goal.

The Hess TF is very much a "Must see" event in CoH.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
but now the squishies that have stealth+ss will have no advantage at all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You all seemed to forget this point that was posted on the main page...

    [ QUOTE ]
Stealth and Invisibility make heroes truly invisible to their enemies -- though environmental effects, like water splashes, can still give away their position. These powers also allow heroes to evade their opponentsÂ’ targeting reticles by putting distance between themselves and their foe.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So those who went with the SS + Stealth, get the same effect, even without the stealth part of SS.

And as others have said, how exactly can a optional rule set be unfair? If by not having travel powers you think you'll be completely screwed, then don't play matches with that setting enabled. Just how exactly does a Optional rule harm someone if they can chose not to play in those matches?
  22. [ QUOTE ]
No hover?!?!?!?! well why don't you just kill all the blasters automatically when they enter the arena, it would save time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Two things.

    1) Not all blasters use hover. Many use other travel powers, like SS or SJ.

    2) Not all arena matches will have travel powers turned off. So don't agree to matches that have travel powers off.

    Defense nerf

    [ QUOTE ]
Total Combined Defense versus lethal = 50% (not 90%)
because "only the largest single defense bonus will be used."

    [/ QUOTE ]

As I understand it, you are wrong, the combined defense vs lethal will be 90%.

Defense granted by different powers still stack. It's only the defenses granted by the same power that don't anymore.

Lets say you have two defense powers that give Def vs S/L and Fire.

    Power A = 15% S/L 10% fire
    Power B = 20% S/L 25% fire

With the bug, if you were attacked by something that did both Slashing/Lethal and Fire damage your defense would be...

15 s/l + 10 fire + 20 s/l + 25 fire = 70% def against a that attack. Because the bug caused both the s/l and fire defense to stack from the same power.

With the fix, the defense from the same powers don't stack, so against a s/l fire attack you would get the following.

15 s/l from power A + 25 fire from power B = 40% because the best defense against that attack gets applied.

    Defense nerf

Looks like they're back... Or at least the ones I noticed being gone are.
