    The PB Changes

I must say, it's a bit more impressive than I thought it would be.

Note: my preferred PB is Human-only, so that weighs in on some of my observations

Perma Lightform is a gamechanger. I took on +8 Cot wBosses without breaking a sweat. +8 Longbow gave me some fits, but they do some of my other ATs as well. To make it perma, I have a bit over 150% global recharge (with 3-slotted hasten) and Lightform itself having somehere in the 90%recharge. Have to insure that I keep a few blues with me at all times for the end crash, but with my heals the Health crash was almost never an issue. Watching that Blinking Icon and juggling those is a bit of an issue, but nothing that can't be overcome. Also, I can see my Toon when using it. Win!!! Farewell to my shields.

Inner Light was a bigger boon than I thought as well. It's got 2 damage bonuses (lets round them and say they're approx 70% and 30% each). When you first fire it off, you get both bonuses, for about a 100% increase in damage. After 10 seconds, the 70% ends, but you still have the 30% for 20 more secs. Here's the real beauty: if you have a high enough recharge, Inner Light will be ready again before the first applicaton expires. You click it again, you get another 100% added to the 30% from the previous, for an overlap of 130% (how long that last depends on your recharge, but mine last several seconds). Enough Recharge and Inner Light Perma and stacks its buffs - It really is like a mini-doublestacked Rage. PBs have needed a damage boost and this feels like one to me.

Then, Photon Seekers just seem be available for almost every mob now.

Finally, Solar Flare can be fired off above a mob now, in the air, and although I haven't found the 'sweet spot' distance yet, I can be further away than I thought I'd be and it doesn't seem to scatter mobs as much

Things could still be tweaked, but I'm a happy PB right now.

I need to figure out how to put goofy links into my posts...

Yeah and maybe they made Solar Flare not KB at the last minute too.

Of course I got a bad deal. I knew that going in. Nothing is truly worth 2 Billion Inf + 2 Purples (one was a Ragnarok, can't remember the other). I think the going price for them at the time meant I gave about 2.5 billion for the Proc

But the character in question already had the Purples she needed/wanted, and I had several billion spread out among many toons... so I said, what the heck and traded for it.

And apparently, many others are willing to get extorted like this. That Gladiator Proc regularly goes for 2 billion on the Market, and if you look in the Inventions Forum, you'll see people advertizing to sell one for enormous prices - that's how I found my seller (the scoundrel haha). There's one going for 3 billion as we type.

Simply the fact that the "end" of restoring super powers justified the "means" of killing Statesmen and risking that he would stay dead. Luckily Manticore was able to get him revived (though he had to temporarily kill himself, find him, and then pull his spirit back with him as he was resurrected)...
Oh I didn't say I couldn't RP my Vigilante teaming with Villains, but it is a Stretch that that's the ONLY thing my Vigilante can do when teaming Redside.

Ultimately, I think sideswitching needs to be redesigned, with All Alignments being able to go anywhere, and introducing arcs and other mechanics for rewards and disadvantages for being a particular alignment.

I actually traded for one once (for my Brute). Cost: 2 Billion Inf + Two Purple Recipes

Note: Kids, there is no way in heaven the Gladiator Def Proc is worth this much. It's simply that I had all the IOs I wanted on that toon, and I had plenty of spare change haha... And this isn't real money.

Yep, found out in Mids. So, I'll maybe put a -KB protection Steadfast there (to go with my Zephyr one in flight - that'll really keep me from getting KBd). Maybe eventually I save and get that PVP Gladiator Def Proc *cringes at the cost*

The game already has this. It's called "flight". The only difference between flight and the swinging power people want is the animation.
Well, limitations have been brought up, such as no Swinging higher than the nearest structure (how near is debatable), plus there would be different powers to go in the pool. Some sort of hold (your line tying/tripping foes) would be appropriate. Ultimately, Animation is everything. The real difference between Superstrength and Martial Arts (and the upcoming Street Justice) is feel, due to Sounds and Animations - otherwise they both do Melee Smashing Damage. Ditto Broadsword and Katana, etc.

Well, I'm hoping that Shining Shield 1-slotted will provide about 9% S/L Resist cuz that's all I need. I want Weave, but I'd rather skip Tough as it's likely not needed to reach S/L resist cap with Light Form if Shining Sheild does as I hope. I'd get Kick and Boxing as 4-slot Kinetic Combat mules and requirements for Weave.

Shield Wall..couple Billion Inf for +3% resist... Uhm no, I can't believe people pay for that one.

I've got the steadfast in Incadescence already. I'll do Mids when I get home; it's just that 'gettin home' is several hours from now and when I get a thought in my head I'm figgity until I find out, so was hoping someone knew right off. Basically, if Shining Shield (1 slotted) can get me around 9% S/L defense I'm good

Very good info. I've read it before but pretty much forgot it -- thanks

Since we're talking respecs, I've noted that Light Form alone won't necessarily get you to the 85% Smashing/Lethal resist cap for Khelds. Lets say you have Light Form slotted to get you as much S/L resist as it can, what would be the best minimal slotting or IOing elsewhere to get you that extra bit of S/L resist?

My current light form slotting, which I may change, gets me around 77% S/L resist when on. If I don't change slotting for it, what else can get me that extra 8% with as minimal investment as possible.

I'm thinking Shining Shield single slotted. Would that alone be enough even without a resist IO in it (maybe you can afford the Gladiator +Def proc and want to put it there)? I can't seem to find the numbers for it anywhere (I'm not home).

I have a hard time believing it's that much of an advantage at all...
It's not really. If you're a Vigilante, there are no real contacts or arcs for you Redside. Sure, you can run newspapers and pretend your bashing bad guys, but then every once in a while you have to rob a bank (I guess to fund your vigilante activities). And occasionally you can go help Villains beat up Real Heroes in Strike Forces (even I have trouble RPing why my Vigilante sometimes helps the type of people she normally would put six-feet-under go bash the Freedom Phalanx into oblivion)

This. My S/L defense is already in the upper 30s - just a single purple away from being softcapped. And with the New Lightform, I'll have 85% resist to all but Psi pretty much all the time. It's seems Barrier is the waste in this case, plus so many other toons already have it... I'm already being different by playing a PB; why not continue?

So, an extra Heal on top of that defense make me pretty darn tough. Yes, Lightform won't mez protect as well as it used to, but then, I didn't use it except in emergencies so I'm used to that...and it's not like you can't have a breakfree handy most of time.

I prefer Rebirth, esp. since the New Light Form will be eating half my health every 90 seconds, a Third Click Heal (that also helps the team) is quite welcome. Like I said, Breakfrees have worked for me for years.

Also, one nerf people gloss over is the fact that the new Lightform will have vastly lower status protection.
I've heard the current 'no-rooting' thing is a bug they've just allowed to stay - I pretty much never took advantage of it anyway, so no problems for me, but I can see it for people that did.

As for the other points: Yeah, the shortened Timeout of Lightform will be interesting; I'll be watching it in a similiar way that I do Hasten and Rage on other Characters, as I plan on having it up all the time. As for the lower status protection; well, since the Devs seem to think that's a splendid built-in weakness for Khelds, I guess having a power that's now permable would allow permanent status protection and we can't have that, now can we *sarcasm*. Oh well, I'm used to using Breakfrees.

I love that I'll be able to give up the Shields now and get other powers I want - sure helps with slotting too. But I REALLY love that Lightform won't turn me into a ball of light anymore; that I can still see my character. I know many liked the ball of light (we're playing energy aliens and that's our natural form) but I wasn't one of them. I make superhero costumes and I want to see them as I play. If light form made it so I couldn't see my creations most of the time, my PB wouldn't be coming out of retirement. And now, due to these changes, she is.

It will be to me. I shed myself of the shields, and got powers and IOs to up my recharge, defense and damage. Win
  18. When you allow anyone to download executables to your game (every time you install anything) you are giving them a huge amount of access to your computer. They could have code in the download that erased your harddrive if they wanted. That's why you only download from people you trust, because you're giving them access to change your world (figuratively speaking)...

Oh please, don't bring real world stuff up like that. No one is getting THAT bent out of shape about it. If we get right down to it, we could ALL be spending the time and money we devote to CoH gaming (or any other activity such as wasting time on these forums, drawing, hiking, etc) towards world social and economic concerns.

Some people like perfection in their hobbies. I play piano, and I spend a considerable amount of time making songs I already know pretty well even better. Is that a waste as well...?

Obviously, some NPC types need to keep their invincibility, like drones and civilians, but it'd be interesting if you could remove damage resistance or defense from a foe as long as they're ragdolling. Then lower the AV KB resist so it's plausible for someone with a dedicated KB attack to knock them down....

Must admit - so do I. And when I'm soloing I don't terribly mind KB. Seeing hordes of bodies rag-dolling thru the air has its own appeal, and the dumb AI always brings them back to me ...does slow me down, as we've all been discussing though.

It's too late to change enemy AI in this game, and making all attacks AoE attacks isn't going to happen. Somehow, KB must be made more beneficial, so that people don't mind scattered mobs quite as much. Extra smashing damage (like a proc that goes off everytime KB effects happen) might help...
  24. #6 (something else). Travel. I'd go places that I normally couldn't go: mountains, jungles, etc. Probably take to climbing up high skyscrapers and other dangerous locations because I could, etc, and generally just wandering and exploring (I'm weird that way) in relatively safety. I'd still would try to be as discreet as possible, not wanting to give away the suit's secrets. Then...

#3 (testing) While doing the above, I'd be discovering what the suit can do. Knowing how it amplifies abilities, I'd probably try to make some money with it, preferably mostly legal haha. I can think of lots of ways that super strength, toughness, and great communication ability would lend towards accumulating wealth. As I got richer, I'd find ways to amplify my abilities: make/have made special tough, fast bicycles that are powered by me (my suit), self-powered gliders as well (if I'm that strong, I could probably push a pedaled/prop glider pretty fast). Heck, being 100 times as strong, I could probably use workable wings. This should help in my 'getting around' ability. Finally...

#5 I think my inner heroine would finally come out and I'd try to do something about the bad things that go on in the world. I'd likely get into a world of trouble, but I still think I'd try. By then, maybe I've built a good enough communcation network and travelling ability, along with some base of operations (or 3), where I can maintain some sort of secret identity, if not actually keep my existence mostly a secret (doubtful, modern intel is awfully good and finding out what they want to).

When I'm finally caught (it's likely inevitable no matter my precautions), I'd hope to 'make a deal' in which I can become 'deputized' or whatever, and actually become a legal law-enforcer, preferably still clandestine so as to be able to keep some sort of normal life outside of enforcing. This would, of course, involve convincing the powers-that-be into letting me keep using the suit (maybe a slight possibility once they figure out it only works for me and assuming they can't reproduce),

more likely... maybe they'll just confiscate it from me and keep experimenting. Let's be real - once the governments are hellbent on getting you, it will be just a matter of time. Perhaps I'd spend sometime imprisoned as they experiment on me to find out why the suit only works for me. Maybe, eventually, they'll revert to letting me use it again (but only as their agent). More likely, I'll be released a some point (probably years), a poor broken shell, never to see the suit again, telling people what I used to be, and them looking at me like I'm one of those UFO-abductee claimers...

I hope I never get a suit like this...
