Well, I was civil to you, but you are failing to extend me the same treatment. So, from my perspective, I think you have who is what reversed.
While not the same AT, they are the same powers. Here is a redname saying it is a bug that the sounds are not fading for the Dark Armor set for scrappers nearly 7 months ago:
See here.
And Here.
And you know what? I'm not a doctor, but I do care about my hearing. Now seeing that you've ignored the link in my reply that you have quoted, I doubt anything is going to change your mind about this, but here are a couple of articles that should give you pause:
Wiki on hearing loss
and
About hearing loss
Edited to unmangle links. -
Preventing Hearing Loss is not a stupid reason at all. As you get older you'll realize this (I'll assume your age due to poor gammer and spelling). The fact that the developers have, for other ATs, made the drop off of the toggle sounds suggests that they too are aware of other people who like this feature (Toggle sounds do not persist). That you do not, suggests to me that you want to have a hearing aid in your future. I do not. If the developers insist on not having the sound drop off, they are encouraging people to go around the EULA to mute the problem sounds themselves.
Edit: I do realize that there is a volume bar, and I usually have it at 10%. Any lower and I can't hear tells, glowies, etc. -
[ QUOTE ]
before i decide to test Dark Armor. i wona know the ups and downs. can anyone tell me what are the Strengths and the Weaknesses of Dark Armor plz
oh and those who complain about the Noise... get over it ... theres something called Volume .. use it
[/ QUOTE ]
Right. I count on sound cues to do a lot of things, ranging from being made aware of private tells, glowies, other powers going off. Now if I turn down the volume to prevent damage to my ears from the SHRILL tones of the dark armors, I'll miss immersion in the game. It is almost as bad with the SR bass for their armor.
I also dont think you have ANY right to tell people to "get over it" if you have not even tried it.
Please note: I have to use headphones so not to disturb others. -

I don't believe that defeats in PvE, or the lack thereof, denote a "Great Player" in any sense. Defeats happen, usually as a result the actions of a teammate. I admit that I get defeated less when I'm solo because I know the capabilities of my characters but that being said, I still get defeated just as anyone else should on the road to 40+
The benchmark is fine as it is and most people will earn Deathless in the normal course of play.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll just butt in here for a second and say that 1 of my 50's still has not earned the 3rd debt badge. She participates in Hami Raids, and teams a lot. I guess that comes from being an Empath. -

microfilaments do not work in teleport.
[/ QUOTE ]ok, they still can be put in(I recently got a Microfiliment and it would accept it, but I had other plans for it), but only affect end, which means that it is a waste. -
[ QUOTE ]
Maybe it's me, and I am sure to get flamed for it. But I disagree with Exploration Badges giving XP.
If people want them, they will get them, that should be the incentive, not the XP. If they want to unlock contacts thats fine, thats content related, but no XP for explorations please?
Especially not a level dependant thing. Stalkers (likely) can make bank on this and take advantage of it easier than most.
[/ QUOTE ]I can safely put your fears to rest:
Breakout-Jail Bird, 0 XP
5 points XP for the following at level 2
Mercy-Cesspool
Cad-Egghead
Port Oakes-Driller
Sharkhead-Pit Viper
Nerva-Watcher on the Knoll
St. Martial-Stonekeeper
Grandville-Guttersnipe
There are, what, under 40 non-level restricted explore badges? 40*5 xp might get you 1 level. Or, spend the time doing missions or street hunting.
Seriously, some are just out of reach before a travel power, baring a holiday jetpack. -
Actually this is why my Broad Sword/Dark Armor scrapper is only 17 after 1 year. I cant stand the grating DA sounds from the toggles there either.
-
The Dark Armor sounds do not fade and are hard on the ears.

Points to the last consolidated post by the OP, even after you mentioned them, they are not there.
And I quote:

Microfilament Exposure - Travel Speed Increase (Run, Fly, and Jump) plus Endurance Reduction:
-Defender/Controller - Kinetic - Speed Boost (travel speed, end reduction)
-Defender/Controller - Kinetic Inertial Reduction (travel speed, end reduction)
-Defender/Controller - Kinetic - Siphon Speed (travel speed, end reduction, bonus -speed/recharge debuff on opponent)
-Peacebringer - White Dwarf (Probably not the best place to put these, Dwarf has something akin to Combat Jumping), Quantum Flight (There are reports that Q-Fly is already at the Fly Speed cap, in which case this enhancement would be useless), Nova (Probably not worth slotting Fly)
-Scrapper - Super Reflexes - Elude - Not optimal slotting, but can use this.
-Warshade Primary - Umbral Blast - Dark Nova (Probably not worth slotting Fly)
[/ QUOTE ]
So, just trying to reinforce the fact the the compiler skipped them, and the others I mentioned.
In addition: Nova (I disagree, Flight/End is useful),
and One we all missed:
PB->Luminous Aura->Group Energy Flight also is a good use of Microfilaments. -
Microfilament Exposure - Travel Speed Increase (Run, Fly, and Jump) plus Endurance Reduction (yeah, some of these are easy ones):
All - Power Pools - Flight, Hover, Takes minimal end, Flight
All - Power Pools - Flight, Flight
All - Power Pools - Flight, Group Flight
All - Power Pools - Speed, Super Speed
All - Power Pools - Leaping, Combat Jump, see hover
All - Power Pools - Leaping, Super Leap
Peacebringer - Inherent, Combat Flight, (see flight, Hover)
Peacebringer - Inherent, Energy Flight (see flight, Flight)
I just had a thought, anyone with Teleport hover their Microfilament over their Teleport powers? Did the info window show an increased range?

Well, yes, that's the other potential concern.

Empowerment station buffs are currently set at 15 minute durations (far longer than any other non-toggle buff in the game). They are bestowed on you as soon as you craft them, and last 15 minutes from there. The idea is to have enough time to get you past that sticky part of a mission that was giving you trouble.
15 minutes is the time we are going to the Training Room with. If it turns out that that's not enough time for you to Empowerment Buff, get to the mission, and get you through the tough fight, then it will be increased.
[/ QUOTE ]
How about a 5 use - 3 minute Temp power instead? It would be FAR more usefull. Here I was looking forward to this, until you just dashed my hopes.
Evil is proud today. -
Your answer is on page 3 of this thread, near the bottom. Positron already answered it. No, it isn't buggy, the badge text is wrong.
It is now for 1 type of pvp mission, not for 50. -
Just 1 hour ago on Triumph, I responded to a Kraken alert. Total size of the team? Four!
Why?
The Kraken spawns to frequently?
I repeat my earlier comments that it is nearly impossible these days to get a full team for Giant Monsters. There is no need to make them tougher, only to make more incentives for more than one team to take them out. The 5-10% damage rule would be a good step in the right direction. -
[ QUOTE ]
My concern is that when Issue 7 goes Live, people will receive accolades at their current level. If you malefactor to someone, you lose powers and accolades you earned after the level you melefactor to. So, if you actually satisfied the requirements for an Atlas Medallion-like accolade at 25, and you receive the accolade at 40, then the accolade would not be available if you malefactored down to level 30. It's a minor issue of course, but it would be nice if the accolade roll-out didn't work this way.
/e shrug
[/ QUOTE ]
QFT, and I renew calls to REMOVE the Accolade penalty as this PUNISHES existing characters. Accolades are earned, yet go away while the mentor "guides" another character?
Again, please REMOVE this penalty, Positron! -
At a guess, this was the arena section before & got changed to badges and gladiators. Wasn't this the Arena area before?
Check the last few pages of this forum (15,16) arena stuff.

Are you kidding? I took down the ghost like 3 times just last week, every time with just the random pickups that showed up at the Ghost.

I'm happy for you. But that doesn't change what I said.
My quote proceeding what you snipped:
[ QUOTE ]
I'm getting nearly the same treatment -now- for, and unable to fill 1 full team for at one time in the last few months:
[/ QUOTE ]
Just last -weekend- I seen the Ghost of the scrapyard 3 times.
1st time: 2 FULL teams (I didn't find it, but a SGmate did & invited me to a team)
1st time result: after a lengthy battle the Drones by the ferry got the badge.
2nd time: I heard an announcement responded to it, and was only one of FOUR!! people fighting it.
2nd time result: we brought it down to 1/2 hp, had a team wipe, when we got back it was back to full health. damaged it about 10% & it despawned. No badge.
3rd time: I found it, got absolutely NO RESPONSE to pleadings to help take it down, so gave it up.
Deathsurge:
I've had a response before deathsurge was fixed, well lets just say I cant post the response here due to the censors.
The last time I got a team together to do deathsurge, I had 7 people on the team. I broadcast, announced in the server monster channel, I started asking blindly with the search menu. The same response over & over: I have the badge, go away.
I stand by my comments that with all the monsters I named, I've met with them under a full team. Not always succeeded in taking them down, but I've fought with under a full team with them. -

Zone Giant Monsters are getting the buff. GM's that are mission-specified (like the ambush ones, or the Eden trial, etc) are not being touched. Those GMs are "arch-villain" level, i.e. made to be beaten by 1 team.
Zone Giant Monsters are the GM's that appear randomly (or triggered) in zones. This does not include the ambushes that are triggered from missions.
This change will be both CoH and CoV.
[/ QUOTE ]
Is Lusca being exempted from this, given that there are 9 giant monsters involved?
Actually...is it too late to kill it? For the past few days I've been trying to get the devilfish badge. Requests for people to come help are met with derisive laughter...the risk/reward ratio is so far out of whack it's ridiculous. Finally, we put together a good team of people and managed to take down three of the five tentacles, with several complete team wipes and at least two people hitting the debt cap (coming in debt free). After a lot of pleading and whining we got more people and managed to take it down. With the teams in place, we went ahead and cleared the other Lusca that had spawned.
I am NOT looking forward to having to do similar pleading and whining for the Kraken, Adamastor, and Jurassic.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm getting nearly the same treatment -now- for, and unable to fill 1 full team for at one time in the last few months:
Jack in Irons
Eochai
Jurassik
Adamastor
Kraken (unbelievable, given the rarity)
the Paladin construction
Deathsurge
Ghost of the Scrapyard
Lusca (yeah right)
Ghost ship (either in it's broken phase or otherwise)
Not usually a problem:
Babbage
What does this tell us? The risk/reward is ALREADY out of whack for most Giant Monsters, and now the developers are making them HARDER?!?!? -

Can anyone think that this isn't even MORE painful to get than the "proper" way to get Isolator? Auto-Exempting gives level appropriate debt, it would cause levels 20+ to wish they had their better powers all through it. It would take considerably more work to get. IIRC it takes about 40 minutes or so to get in the tutorial if solo, and about 20 minutes or less with a team. This idea is lot longer, but if the person is truly fanatical about badges, they'd do it in a heartbeat. Add in a new way for toons to start out. They could even put in missions that duplicate the tutorial missions, for those of us who have already done the tutorial zone way too often.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think there is a fundamental disconnect between how we are viewing badges.
View 1: A badge is a collector's item
Badges are simply tokens that are collected like stamps, coins, comic books, etc. Although you might have some interesting stories of what you had to go through to acquire them, the items themselves don't represent any specific activity. You collect them for the sake of adding them to your collection.
View 2: A badge is a trophy
Badges represent an event or activity like a medal or trophy. The experience of getting each badge is key to each badge's identity. Since the badge represents an experience, you can't really have alternate means of getting the same badge. A different experience results in a badge that represents something different, and thus results in a different badge.
I see badges as View 2, which is why I think adding a task force as a means of getting Isolator changes what Isolator represents, and thus results in a different badge. To me, it isn't the amount of work that is important, but the activity itself.
Now, for those of you with View 1, I can see why the specific activity involved in getting the badges might not be as important, and why adding alternate means of getting the same badge is a viable possibility. (With View 2, the very act of adding alternate means results in a different badge, so doing such a thing is technically impossible.) In fact, View 1 is how I see unlockable costume pieces, which is why for those, I don't think it is important exactly how you unlock them, and think those should be available to all.

Gee, it was a COMPROMISE. As such it will not please everyone. but it should please enough that I hope it goes through. Play the game how you want. I want MORE choices not less. -

A level 1-5 TaskForce. Make it as long as Positron, longer in fact as there would be no travel or pool powers (unless you are a Kheld, but that is no different than now). Have it in Atlas, Galaxy, Kings Row and the Hollows. Have portals (in door missions) spew a few contaminated, but do not award the Isolator for the contaminated, but for completing the TF. For those that have the Isolator already, give a temp power.
Ok, lets see:
New content - Check.
Provides a way to get Isolator - Check.
Mostly preserves Isolators text - Check. The 1st 5 levels are the start of a toons career.
Long, dangerous, but gives a valid reward for the same - Check.
Provide some alternatives to starting toons - Check.
Properly introduce badges to new players - Check.
Shut up the nay-sayers - Nothing will ever do that.
Look on the same nay-sayers face's if the Developers do this: Priceless.
