Quote:If you get enough people (with enough focus), the zones can be fun. I always found the best turn out was in Siren's. Between the bounties and the helping the NPCs in the hotspots, there's enough to keep it interesting but not enough at stake to get people's panties in a bunch. The good point was that people wouldn't "get their panties in a bunch" because they are not losing out on a nuke, shivan, or difficult AV badge.Quote:No it's not. Having people pve in a pvp zone does not promote pvp.
In Siren's Call there is less distractions. Maybe there should be a new level 50 PVP zone that mirrors what happens in Siren's Call. -

Quote:They are not -totally- sorted by zone. They are sorted first by Issue. Take a look at the current exploration list. All the Atlas park explores are no longer all in one group, for instance.2) Subdivide exploration badges.
No, not into seperate tabs. Instead, keep them grouped as they are now, by zone, but have a sub-list for each zone. As it is now, it's hard to remember where one zone ends and another begins on the list.
We've been told that sorting the badge list would be risking some heavy-duty corruption of the player database. -
Quote:Actually, not quite. I had a buddy code for Valentines 2005. The account was active for 2 weeks in February. The Buddy Code was considered the full game. Now fast forward to May 2005... The memorial weekend had a Free Activation Weekend... Celebrant (first year anniversary badge) was awarded during the whole month of May... I didn't actually start subscribing until June 12th, 2005, yet I have Celebrant on 4 characters.Just a quick clarification (because it wasn't explicitly stated in the OP as far as I could see) - to be able to earn or purchase the anniversary badges, you would still have had an active account on that particular anniversary, right?
So to get the First Anniversary badge, you would have had an active account on or about April 28, 2005, right? Not an inactive or lapsed account, or one started in say, June 2005?
You've lost. I didn't have a paid account for the Celebrant badge. Yes it was active due to NCsoft and Cryptic, but it wasn't a paid account at the time. -
Oh, yeah... about that. The dev's hate OCD badge collectors... The only unfilled progress bar I have on my main badge collector is the 1,000 badges badge... Gah! I shouldn't think about it!

Quote:Check the link I made in the post you quoted. The patch notes they have on display on the main website did not list those badges.except all of those were in the i16 patch notes

However, the point still holds true that just because something isn't in the patch notes doesn't mean it doesn't exist. the devs have become increasingly vague about what they put in the patch notes. far from everything makes it, which is BS, and kinda defeats the point of the patch notes IMO.
So the patch notes aren't even consistent. -

Figure that anyone in GR is under an NDA and can't tell you anything. It is pointless to ask any questions about an Issue in a closed, or non-public beta (it is "friends & family" atm).
-
The only reason I wasn't suggesting RV was because getting enough people to be able together to both PVP and take down the heroes would be very hard to do at the start. Shivans or Nukes would be better enticements as players not only get a badge if they needed it, they'd get a temp power that they can use later.
-
Quote:I guess that just because a Master of badge isn't listed in a patch note, that means the badge doesn't exist? You know, that badge wasn't even listed in Closed Beta and it wasn't even mentioned, there is no chance of it actually being active.
It is good to know that the following are figments of our collective imaginations:
-
Okay, I know I'm known for not caring about PVP. I was trying to figure out some way to combine badging and PVP to get some activities going, and I thought the mini-games might be a good excuse.
How about a brawl over shivans? We could get a couple groups trying to collect a full team's worth of shivans in a set amount of time.
One of the main hurdles I see is balance. One hero vs a dozen villains isn't fun, neither is one villain vs a dozen heroes. Another hurdle is skill level. While there are some really skilled PVPers on Triumph, I would hazard a guess that most are not.

Quote:By the way, even if the command were functional, you got the syntax wrong. It is:So i am wondering about the Command
Our channel has i think around 2487 members on it. Which many i know have not been active for a LONG time
we set ours to
/chan_timeout level 50 120
is that correct? because the # of users never changed. or should it be
/chan_timeout 'level 50' 120
/chan_timeout <channel name> <days>
You cannot specify level, as level is meaningless for a global account...
Edit:
Further correction, channel name has to be in quotes if there is a space in it. So:
/chan_timeout "level 50" 30
If the channel name is "level 50". -

Quote:It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.I am sorry but I have to feel like we all have been forced to Beta test i17.
I have been here a long time and never has an issue made the game unplayable for me and never have I seen the sheer number of complaints as this issue has generated.
Players are reporting zoning into Cimerora IN THE GROUND. Player logging on report HEARING A TRAIN. (<--- this happened to me) Reports of severe lag, snap back, chat bug (its baaAAccckkk) more than one Auction House bug (it's currently down), graphics glitches (small little flying black squares etc), memory leaks, the game not even launching for some, crashes, crashes and more crashes... We also know there were a whole host of bugs that were known bugs in beta and not fixed at the time of release.
In all seriousness this Issue hasn't been either the worst (though it is up there) nor the best deployed. Most Issues had stability problems.
Here is a funny observation on the beta process by Scott Adams. -
And the morgue hotspot is the top left door.

Quote:Tam, you know I respect you as a player. I was deliberately vague to protect who (and who told me). I didn't say when or with who.I believe I was on that last Masters attempt with said person, and I don't remember anyone saying anything bad about them o.O I also only joined to help them get the badge, I didn't care about getting it on any of my toons. I'd also be fine with running it again with them, mainly because we're friends :P
Just really not sure who you're talking about when you mention harassment.
I know I got a verbal talking to by that mutual friend for joking with you all a few nights later. Apparently the friend felt it was a bit much that night. Maybe they are stressed and is overreacting a tiny bit. I don't know as I wasn't there and, like I said above, I was told this by a mutual friend.
I have it from two different sources that there was name calling involved. Maybe the person was overreacting, but on the flip side I don't think either of you can say with certainty about the conduct of others.Quote:also being one of the ones on the last 3 of those master runs, said person was in no way put down, made fun of, or harassed.
Maybe, as others have said above, that is the problem. Maybe it is time to try a different way. I'm willing to run weekly attempts (we continue till the TF end even if the challenge fails).
Well, I like to think that I've made it quite clear that I do not PVP...Quote:also, as much as i don't like people who say this, but if you don't pvp don't talk about it because 90% of the people who do that don't pvp are wrong in what they say (not that i blame them for not wanting to know about a broken system that makes no sense but still) -
Ah. By the way, the RWZ has 14 explore badges, more than any other zone in the game. 15 if you include the explore in the AE building. I don't think that any more have been added to it.
-
Quote:That's not what I was saying. A while back War Witch made a comment that there were some Easter Eggs in RWZ that people still hadn't discovered. I've never seen anyone else mention this area so I thought she may have meant that. Also, I don't see how a Master of LGTF badge equates to an undiscovered Easter Egg, so I disagree with that conclusion. My sources say there are 14 exploration badges for the RWZ. No more or less.Quote:I remember War Witch's comment as well. It sounds more like a hidden-undiscovered area of the RWZ map vs. another stupid Mo badge.
Hm...I supposed to help induce more RWZ exploration they add more map badges to it....
There is the x-ray in the medical area, and the morgue as well. However I've been told that they've existed since the zone revamp in Issue 10. -
Quote:Ok, try this:Sorry for the confusion. I have my game located in C:\Games\City of Heroes. I do not have the folder C:\Program Files\City of Heroes, I wrote that by mistake when I was meaning to write C:\Games\City of Heroes instead. The only other installation of CoH besides that in C:\Games\City of Heroes is my test installation in C:\Games\CoHtest but I haven't touched that one at all.
I have checked the shortcut I'm using to run the game, it points to C:\Games\City of Heroes\cohupdater.eu.exe.
When firing up the mappack installer, it doesn't detect the game folder at all.
New maps still not working. I deleted my C:\Games\City of Heroes\data\texture_library\maps and \v_maps folders and installed the mappack to C:\Games\City of Heroes several times again, and still no luck.
- Exit out of the game completely.
- Check if the test installation has the \data\ directory.
- If it doesn't proceed to next step, otherwise rename it to \data1\
- Run the mappack, but point it to the test installation (C:\Games\CoHtest)
- Copy the \data\texture_library\maps and \v_maps folders to your regular CoH directory (C:\Games\City of Heroes)
- Run your regular CoH shortcut.
This should work. Test it.
Now, exit the game completely. Go to your test directory (C:\Games\CoHtest). Remove the \data\ directory. Try running your regular game again. If it still works, bonus! Ignore the next step.
If, as I suspect, your shortcut's properties isn't configured right, the map patch should be "gone". Go to the shortcut that you use to launch the game. Make sure that the Target and Start in fields point to your live game folder (C:\Games\City of Heroes). -
Quote:Funny, that is almost what I thought. Except I would have said the whole works would have been done in 5 minutes. If you look at the villain badges, they are pretty much the same, only red.I like the old style better. The new one looks like it was put together in 10 minutes in Photoshop.
So change layer styles, import a new background, add new number layers, and then export. Ok, maybe 10 minutes. -
Quote:The people in question have had a lot of conduct petitions against them (I've filed several myself), but nothing seems to be done about them. On the other hand some of them moved to Freedom... Something about PVP being better there. Then report them. Harassment is against the EULA.
Am I missing something about the situation that's difficult? (GMs sitting on their hands and doing nothing after several reports would qualify as a "yes" to that question, but that's about it.)
Actually that is one of the reasons I don't PVP. -
