Quote:I, for one, KNOW you are wrong. You get ONE level shift for slotting either a rare or very rare. Unslotted boosts do not grant a level shift. As you can only slot a single Alpha Boost, you are limited to a single level shift from the Alpha slot. Additionally very rares eat up two rares and two additional Notices of the Well. The rare and very rare abilities give 2 level shifts, one for each. If you think i'm wrong, check the incarnate tree in game.
Given that you can only get one Notice of the Well per week players will have time for other things, unless they are trying to get a dozen characters their level boost. -
Quote:Current badges (and don't even get me started how some of these were before):Yep. That one requirement. 5 times the effort of the previous requirement. How is it unresonable to think that leap is a bit much?

Do two of the same WSTs per week on that one character and you'll have the badge before a year is over.Quote:Yes, because I don't have 99% of the rest of the badges. Mostly worked on by myself over the course of my time here. The few I'm missing are due to having to literally rely on other people in the time frame I have available to play. This new one trumps that relying on others by leaps and bounds. No one is complaining about "effort", and I'm not even hinting at any kind of ASAPness. It's the *amount* that's in question. I figured they would have kept the set resonable in the scope of 2, 5 and 10. But as usual, they went overboard IMO.
But thanks for trying to assume anything about my personality. -
Quote:You mean the testing from last Thursday (Jan 27, 2011), over Double XP weekend? What. The. HELL MAN?! Who let this through testing? This is bloody abysmal!
Issue 19: Strike Pack - Patch notes for build 1950.201101250108.0
Do you honestly think 5 days on the Test Server while everyone is ignoring it qualifies as "testing"? This smacks of a upper management/publisher feature push for marketing hype. -
I'm at 1,195, with only the possibility of being at 1,199 (if I'm stupid and get the 3 weekly strike helper badges in a week) by the 12th. I might have to wait for a bit. Grats for having more vet badges.

Quote:Wishful thinking. I can also tell that you didn't even bother reading Black Scorpion's post:When he said "Incarnate Trials" he was in fact addressing the concern for solo players and how they would get their components, so I think the "Incarnate Trials" will probably just be a very tough story arc (or two, or more) that can be completed by a solo player.
Notice how the he talks about the WST and Incarnate Trials in the same paragraph? He's equating the two as upcoming.Quote:Hey again, Black Scorpion here to expound a little bit more on the Strike Pack.
The Weekly Strike Target is the only means of obtaining rare and very rare Alpha Slot abilities before Issue 20. We understand that this means grouping. The addition of the WST will make finding a group for the focused content easier; we believe that people will run the WST multiple times, either to earn the badge or to earn the increased rewards on multiple characters, or even just because it will be easier to find a group for it. Also, to get yourself a single rare ability and earn the level shift will only require running the WST once, and to get a very rare ability it will only take two additional runs. If that’s not your cup of tea, the Incarnate Trials in Issue 20 are going to be an alternative means of obtaining the same abilities.
We are investigating a variety of strategies for the solo player to engage the system as well in the future. No one is more excited than I about the excitement concerning the Alpha Slot and the Incarnate system, and we want to offer more ways for people to participate and enjoy the content they love. On the other claw, sometimes in developing a massively multiplayer game we are going to have content which encourages and rewards multiplayer play.
Your bud in the Incarnate-powered armor,
Black Scorpion
He doesn't say that the Incarnate Trials are solo, and he goes on in a separate paragraph saying that they are investigating strategies for solo players. Separate paragraphs for separate thoughts. Additionally, he reinforces that there is no single player strategy (yet).
That is a separate issue from the above. -
Quote:Official Announcement:50 WSTs for the badge. Will WSTs continue after Issue 20 drops? Do you only get badge credit while the TF is under the WST Flag? If WSTs stop with the drop of Issue 20, does that mean people who couldn't spend 100+ hours grinding all get screwed?

I expect that WSTs are a permanent addition to the game. So no worries on having to get it before Issue 20.Quote:Credit for successfully completing the Weekly Strike Target even after a character has already received the bonus for the week is cumulative over time, and the credit can be accrued over many weeks or months. -
I don't know. I'll probably have the 2nd badge (10 runs) by next week.

Curiously the only day job the Predator badge doesn't override is the Pilot day job (and I've only checked in Bloody Bay). Good luck getting that close on a hero. Even so it will not award for vigilantes or heroes, however you might still get credit for when you change to being a villain.
-
Praetorians will keep the praetorian versions of the badges for the life of the character and will only get the Praetorian versions of the badges.
Heroes and Villains will shift due to alignment. -
Yes, it feels good to be able to say "I've done it" on at least one character.

Quote:Curiously enough, the Master of Statesman Task Force. That took a solid month of attempts to get.Congratulations! Which was the badge you felt the most relief for when you finally got it?
I was also relieved when the Empath's requirements were reduced from 100 million. I had figured it out that I would need to do some 900 PUG ITFs (beyond the 100-200 that I had done since Issue 12) to get it at that requirement after 4 years of playing this character. Curiously enough it took nearly 2 months of damage farms to get Immortal. -

In the same paragraph Black Scorpion said Trials. Trials in this game are not solo content.

Quote:Actually the last two badges came with a whimper.Congratulations !! What a great achievement. Do you mind telling the story of the last
badge? I'd love to hear it.
Crey Employee (Day Job) and Crey Scientist (Accolade). I was supposed to get it near midnight Tuesday, but when I checked my progress Tuesday night, I discovered that even though I was in the Crey building that being just inside the door didn't count. This set me back 24 hours. Figuring that a petition would take longer, I just moved a bit more into the room and logged off again.
The two badges previous were on Jan 4th. Pilot & Brood Leader. Again day job badges. I'd like to point out that it took 24 days to get the last day job, not 21, because I actually play this character.
Master of Apex and Already Dead were acquired on December 21st... Those were the last active badges I picked up and the battle was fairly intense.

Thanks all for the congratulations!
Quote:Yeah, it is a race between those and my next Vet Reward badge which comes on Feb 12th (72 months, yay!). I'm assuming that there will also be a badge for making a rare and very rare alpha boost, as they have common and uncommon already.Based on what they said about Issue 19.5 it looks like we're going to have new WST badges to earn in just a couple of weeks.
Keep at it, you'll eventually find a team that can do them.Quote:Only 3 "Masters of" for me, but that ain't going to happen soon.
Enjoy the game on some other characters.
Yeah, but it is nice to have this little break.Quote:You can be sure the Devs are scrambling to come up with about 10,000 more badges now...
-
I am now officially done getting all badges available to me (except Bug Hunter) on my badge character, White Succubus, until my next vet reward or they introduce new badges. 1,194 badges on this character.
-
I just got my last day job badge & accolade on my badge hunter (a day late due to the game not counting my location properly): Crey Scientist.

Quote:Hmm. Some of those questions are moot. Either the groups will get 100% of the prestige back, or the bases will be transitioned to the new system and you'd have to "sell back" the old stuff and buy new. There are a lot of considerations to "starting from scratch". It's not just a matter of dismantling a base, or getting prestige compensation.
What happens to the roster? How do you move members from one base to the other?
What if someone wants to start a new base, but use their "old" SG name?
What happens to coalitions?
What about re-instituting raids?
What happens to the Group badges?
What if someone wants to keep their old base, as some have mentioned, in a locked/museum state? Who gets access or leadership to the museum?
"What happens to the roster? How do you move members from one base to the other?"
Nothing happens to the roster. The bases are not the super group system.
"What if someone wants to start a new base, but use their "old" SG name?
What happens to coalitions?
What happens to the Group badges?"
Again, confusing two separate systems.
"What about re-instituting raids?"
That is a legitimate concern. Many bases since Issue 13 have ignored raid pathing.
"What if someone wants to keep their old base, as some have mentioned, in a locked/museum state? Who gets access or leadership to the museum?"
With all current bases moved or transitioned to the new system that isn't an issue. -

Quote:It was tested during Issue 18 beta, and any hero or vigilante with any badge that had a blue/red version name switched to the blue version while they were blue aligned and the red version while they were villains or rogues. Except for Praetorians with specific gold badge versions.Perhaps setting one's title as Pilot would keep the title even though the badge itself would turn to Grounded? That may be a workaround for heroes who want to be pilots. Anyone able to test this idea?
In this case any hero or vigilante will have Grounded as their badge title, and that changes the moment they switch from rogue to hero. The moment they switch from vigilante (edit: to villain), the title changes back to Pilot. -

The Hami Raid was a success! 34 characters in the Abyss. Took about 90 minutes to get organized, and somewhere between 45-60 minutes for us to get the reward table.
We had one false start, but we dusted ourselves off and Triumphed!
I'd like to thank everyone for coming out and having patience with the noob raid leader.
Thanks to a LOT of help the raid was completed. I'll try to get more practice in soon.
