    My first solo AV

OK, I used some inspirations and the new Med Pack and Recovery Serum (love the graphic) temp powers, but I dropped Countess Crey with Ms Pris my DB/SR scrapper.
  2. Would anyone want to do the Mender Tesseract SF on Sunday since the regular SF Sunday schedule is temporarily on hold?

I could start at the regular 5pm time or later if that was better for folks.
  3. I'd like to join with my lvl 50 scrapper, Ms Pris. If there is need for an additional tank, I could bring Brai Master instead, but I'd prefer to play my scrapper.
  4. OK, I'm a loathsome liar. I won't be able to make Sara tonight. I just finished a Posi TF with my baby stone tank, and I'm all COH'd out for the day. Plus, nasty thunderstorm incoming with good chance of DC.

    Good luck
  5. This has probably been asked before, but I couldn't find it.

Who gets temp power rewards from missions? I'm thinking specially of the iron blade temp power which is earned in Croatoa.

If a team runs this mission, do all the members of the team get the power? I don't think so, but I want to be sure.

Does only the leader of the team get the power?

Does the character whose mission is being run get the power?

What happens if the leader and the character whose mission is being run are different characters?
  6. Due to some unexpected RL craziness, I won't be able to make tonight's Faathim TF. I will be there for Sara Moore tomorrow night (fingers crossed).
  7. Count me in for the following:

Augustine on Friday at 8:45 pm
Faathim on Saturday at 8 pm
Sara Moore on Sunday at 7 pm

I'll be bringing my lvl 50 scrapper, Ms Pris.

    Tanker Rivalry?

I'd like to think that my "whose tank is the toughest" rivalry which sometimes comes out is a creative, rather than a destructive, tension. After all, being a tank is all about being mondo-tough. So, if we're all trying to out-tough each other, then it should be all to the good.

I only need 0.03% to get my S/L resistance to 90%, and I MUST HAVE IT!!!

(and this is me having a good day)

    Very true (and well said).
  10. Double argghhhh! A RL thing has come up, and I won't be able to make the SF. I'm very apologetic and very bummed. GL folks.
  11. SnakeRogers

    Dropships

Very impressive, sorry I missed it. If there's another attempt, I'll try to be there. Would be more useful, tanker or scrapper, or either?

    Friday TFs

If there's room, I'd like to bring old Brai Master who is now at lvl 48 and tanking very nicely. Held off a couple of lvl 52 boss Malta Titans last night for several minutes until the rest of the team could come along and kill them.
  13. Silver Mantis would be great for me.

    Chili Recipes

Real Texans (not fake transplants from CT like our former presidents) don't put beans in their chili. We'll serve beans on the side (all the "magical fruit" you desire), but it doesn't go in the chili. Heck, there's a POV that's against putting tomatoes in chili. Originally, chili was meat and spices, that was it.

This is very, very serious business.

    Chili Recipes

Only peasants put beans in their chili. Check out the book, A Bowl of Red, for real chili recipes.

    Friday TFs

I'll be there with my emp/elec defender Manly Nurse. Now that he's finally got a cape, he's not so nekkid-looking.

  18. Ah, I'm only allowed four power pools! I learn something new every day.

I guess that means Combat Jumping and Assault go, and I replace them with Conserve Power and Focused Accuracy.
  19. Folks:

I’m just starting the process of turning my lvl 50 DB/SR scrapper, Ms Pris, into a AV soloist. Since I’m a pointy-headed academic, I’ve read as much as I could from this forum and other sources. As a first step (did I mention that my wife calls me “methodical”?), I’ve put together what I think is the best list of powers for my planned build. I’d greatly appreciate any thoughts/feedback.

    Primary/Attack Chain (5)
    Blinding Feint
    Ablating Strike
    Vengeful Slice
    Sweeping Strike
    Power Slice

This seems to be pretty standard unless one can get really crazy recharge bonuses.

    Secondary (8)
    all but Elude

Elude should be unnecessary once my defense is soft-capped.

    Fitness (3)
    Swift
    Health
    Stamina

    A no-brainer.

    Medicine (2)

    Aid Other
    Aid Self

One thing missing from my current build, and I gather the ability to self-heal is a must-have for AV fighting.

    Fighting (3)

    Kick
    Tough
    Weave

Also missing from my current build, which I regret as I’m still short of the soft-cap even with a reasonable selection of IOs.

    Speed (1)

    Hasten

Will have a couple/three lvl 50 recharges so that its available as often as possible.

    Leaping (1)

    Combat Jump

Just a bit more defense, though perhaps this is overkill.

    Leadership (1)

    Assault

Gets me more damage which seems to be my biggest weakness.

This list means no Focused Accuracy or Conserve Power as I’m hoping to have IOs push up accuracy and recovery. None of the other Epic Powers seem all that useful for AV fighting (or much of anything else). There’s no travel power, but that’s why there’s a Jetpack store in the Shadow Shards.

Next stop, figuring out slots per power and IOs that are useful and affordable. I also need to do better at the market. I’ve been way too optimistic about what folks will pay for my stuff.
  20. Thanks for the various explanations. I'd never had this problem with my melee toons, scrapper or tank. I guess its more of problem for ranged attacks, and my energy/energy blaster is very much a ranged attack toon.
  21. Yesterday on Victory, there was a Rikti raid on Steel Canyon. I gleefully charged off with my lvl 28 energy/energy blaster.

However, odd things happened during the big throwdown. I was hovering above the melee with stealth running, firing down into the madness. So far, so good. But, I had trouble using some of my primaries against against some of the Rikti. For example, I'd try to fire Power Blast against a Drone, and I'd get the message in the Combat chat box, "Can not use Power Blast against that target." I had several other primaries which gave me similar messages against other Rikti targets, such as the Heavy Assault Suits. I didn't take notes in the heat of battle (though I did say many bad words). I'm going to keep my eye out for other Rikti raids and/or go on some Rikti mishs to see if this happens again.

Has anyone come across this before?

What else was I going to do with an undergrad degree in philosophy?

I used my BA in international studies to become a pointy-head intellectual professor. It doesn't pay well, but it's generally good fun (except for students who can't write).
  23. My lvl 50 scrapper, Ms Pris, was happy to redeem herself after the role she once played in busting the Doc and the Lesbian Hellions.

After having played a number of your AE arcs, I've become very curious about your day job, and what do you have against innocent post-modernists? We're not all evil. Though I'm more of a social constructionist than a hard-core pomo.

I'm going to replay the World's Great Philosophers with my psi/sonic controller, La Theorie, who uses the power of poststructuralism to deconstruct the metanarrative of evil.
