My brother was playing his level 28 Hardcore character. "Hardcore" is another game's term which means any defeat of any kind is permanent.
He fought a building on fire in Steel Canyon. The building exploded, he took a bajillion damage, and died. -
I sometimes play City of Heroes while watching various videos on hulu or doing lots of other things. I've never had a problem with it on various graphics settings. Since Issue 17 I experience issues with Hulu's video becoming choppy when CoH window is in focus. However, if I bring up the Options window in CoH everything works out. So... if I play with the options menu up, the game works how I want it to. I don't want to play with the options menu up all the time. My issue did not exist before Issue 17. What has changed and how can I change it back?
All CoH options to minimum/off except 3d resultion scaling which is max. CoH in windowed mode. Takes up half screen. Hulu on other half. I usually play with the graphics settings much higher. But even at the minimum these issues occur.
Options Menu off. CoH window in focus. Hulu is choppy in background.
Showfps = 77
Graphfps7 top = 10 - 17
middle = 8 - 16
top = 8 - 16
Options menu on. coH in focus. Hulu is clean.
Showfps = 48
Graphfps7 top = 18 - 24
middle = 14 - 19
top = 14 - 19
I can flick the options menu on and off and the Hulu video and CoH FPS will instantly change. The Hulu video plays perfectly while CoH is in focus. -
Sadly, the MA experience changes with allies have really put a huge dent in my desire to test missions. I don't want to make some stupid ally rules. Right now, a lot of the arcs just give tiny amounts of experience. I really enjoyed getting people of random levels on the team and getting everyone outrageous experience, while fighting outrageously difficult enemies, and while playing with outrageous tactics. Sadly, that doesn't happen now
I have done a little testing:
Score - 75: 7662 - The Labors of Rustam: The Cold and the Dark #54293
Quote:I'm going to push the contest back and I'll get back to people about monthly winners, eventually. So, some point in the future, some people might get paid more monies for winning May and stuff54293

CoT + Snakes were fun. Not many annoyying CoTs. AV + ambushers ok. We had lots of various AE bugs. Restarted mission 1
1b
Same stuff. fun times. Kinda easy but that's ok. Still dangerous enough
2
Don't like map. Hydra easy. Flying running AV with vines? Annoying. Confuse - thats fun
3
Ralruu, great fun. Romans good too. Random blinky on huge **** map is not fun
4
49s? DE are kinda annotying. Snowmen are a joke. Snowmen were 52, but the bosses no level. Very bleh.
5.
Defeat All, snowmenMonster, too easy. People commented the NPC coulda solo'd it
Overall it lacked a lot of difficulty and pizazz. Snakes are fun and hit hard but some of the enemy groups, especially snowmen, are ludicrously easy. Weren't a lot of ambushers, multi-pack fights, or epic encounters.I've paid one person and owe another for the first month. Keep the good things coming. I'll get to them eventually and pick up the pace when they start giving experience.

The exchange rate exists to make the #s work like that. I have adjusted my rates to get closer to 1 to 1.

Updating Rates. Recently I've been sent several billion Influence.

Ah.
This explains why I keep getting mailed 1 million Inf. -
Quote:Reward / Time is standardized on both sides. I say it not because I am silly, but because I am capable of performing division.I guess we have very different perceptions of why there are more people blueside. I kind of assumed it was to do with the fact that there is far more content and zones blueside, loads of neat goodies with special mission mechanics, and especially some really awesome content like Croatoa. Damn, I almost want to go Vigilante just for Croatoa.Are you serious? I don't go much on the forums, but are there actually people who say there aren't inflated rewards blueside? With everyone I've played with in-game, it's been taken for granted as a completely uncontroversial fact that blueside rewards are inflated. Are we all just imagining that, for instance, there are a lot more merit rewards to be had on a TF than a SF, because we're all so silly? I'm a little thrown out of whack by that claim, like someone just told me Earth rotates around Mars and it's silly to say otherwise or something.

Quote:I will not turn off the spigot until you learn to think, read, and post like a rational and intelligent being. Let's review what occurred so I can explicitly and clearly state why I commented "Thanks for reading his entire post" with as much sarcasm, meanness, and sneer I could pour into it via my keyboard and internet connection.I did read his entire post. So turn off the spigot on the snark there Smurphy.
I disagreed with ONE (singular, uno, solo, one-less-than-two, one-more-than-zero) point in his entire post. Therefore I posted SPECIFICALLY about that one point.
The rest of the post I more or less was in agreement with.
But hey, why let that stop you?

9. The devs implement some of those suggestions (it really was much worse before!)

But this is just BS.
Several of the things you see in the market interface are a DIRECT result of suggestions for improvement that were made during beta. While I'm not a huge fan of the new interface, it's still MUCH improved from what was seen under closed beta.
The devs are NOT ignoring people and they ARE trying to be accommodating with the new interface. Simply because all changes don't materialize instantly doesn't mean they aren't listening.
What you said is EXACTLY what peterpeter said in points 8 and 9. You can't quote one line, ignore a line that contradicts it, and call the person a liar. Here's a similar occurrence:
peterpeter:
1) I went to the grocery store and bought a sandwich.
2) Then I remembered I forgot to get eggs and milk.
3) I went to the grocery store and bought eggs and milk.
Your response:
I quote peterpeter: "1) I went to the grocery store and bought a sandwich."
I call BS. I saw you at the grocery store. You bought eggs and milk. -
1) I want colors as shown above
2) I want to search within categories/within other searches
3) I want an option to disable persistent bids. -

I miss the color coding: A grey item meant it was stored. Green meant an outstanding bid. Bright green meant bought. Blue meant an item was posted for sale. Bright blue meant sold.
Sure, there are tabs that sort stuff but I like to be able to take it all in at a glance. I want to use the All tab to see how everything on my character is doing. Using the various tabs doesn't let me simultaneously monitor how multiple bids, stores, and sales are doing. -
The only thing you can say about this situation is
FUNKY BUTTLOVIN' -
At one point in time Mastermind's pets didn't quite level down properly in Architect Entertainment missions. Take a level 50 Mastermind, make a mission at level 5 with a ridiculous amount of super hard enemies, enter the mission, watch the level 50 pets chew through greys, profit.

It's not really "easier to come by" as much as currently, more people want to move redside money to blueside money. What is the cause of that is up to speculation. Some say the recent MM AE shenanigans, others say with Going Rogue more redsiders will want to shift to blueside. Likely a combination of these two and other things is to blame.
Issue 17's e-mail feature lets you change money cross server really easily. Feel free to post in my Inf exchange thread and you likely can find another player who wants to do an exchange at rates that aren't mine. As stated in the first post in that thread I don't mind people avoiding my services. -
So far I've received...
1,020,000,000 Influence from other players and...
1,820,000,000 Infamy from other players.
So far, even at these rates, I'm receiving more Infamy. Of course I haven't been open long and I expect more trades today. -
You may wish to start using them staggered, or start using them at the same time. I think in the long run of playing the ideal would be using them as often as possible and when they recharge. The more you use the two the more you have their benefits.

Trick Arrow can be quite great and is especially nice when paired with a Storm. A Trick Arrows Immob on the heavy enemies can let the /Stormer go all crazy and not worry too much about KB.
Trick Arrow can be quite effective. All of those secondaries you mentioned can work great together.
Quote:I believe what occurred is you asked me why I chose /Storm for my all /Storm MM team. I said it would be easier to show than describe. I went into AE and picked a hard enemy group: Malta. I set a mission to +4/x8 full of Malta. I had 5 Thug/Storms. Two were 50, three were sub-50, none had IOs, three had SOs, and two had absolutely nothing slotted. I summoned all my pets and Team Teleported into the first pack. I dropped 3 Freezing Rains on their head. All the Malta died. I lost 1 Thug.By the way when I mentioned upthread that I'd seen multiple Thug/Storms in action and that they were incredible, it was Smurphy who did the demo for me. IIRC, he set the mission to +4 and still demolished everything. I'd listen to his advice, the man knows his stuff. -
Quote:This post demonstrates a lack of intelligence, understanding and comprehension. The tags on this thread also demonstrate a lack of intelligence, understanding and comprehension.The Cap is there for a reason.
I'm against any cap increase.
If you are too lazy to figure a way around it, then there is no reason to increase it.
All an influence cap increase would do would be to allow inflation on high price items. There is no reason for it other than sheer greed.
If you are that greedy, find away around it.
The rest of us are fine. 90% of the players will probably never hit the 2 bil cap on a character.
The Influence/Infamy caps may technically keep prices from going above a certain point but in reality they do not. Simply because a price is prevented from going over 2 Billion does not mean one could obtain that item if one had 2 Billion. The items simply are not for sale at that price. The price is effectively higher.

Increasing the Inf cap does not do anything to Inflation.
*EDIT*
Here's an analogy.
I picture a road. Now I picture a Speed Bump NOT on the road. Perhaps its 10 yards to the right. I am proposing removing said speed bump. I'm picturing you protesting with a silly sign that reads "Keep Speed Bumps: They help keep traffic slow". -
So you analogize...
Quote:Where the numbers are virtually identical and almost nothing changes about the currency, except now people can hold 20 billion and some very tiny amounts of Inf are slightly moreExamples:
Single Origin costs 10,525 Influence before, now 10,530.
Influence Reward for a defeat of 3, now 10.
Influence bid of 5,000,100 before, now 5,000,100.
You are holding 10,205,295 Infamy before, now 10,205,300

Zimbabwe Abandons its currency
or maybe Zimbabwe removes 12 zeros from currency
I put the #s right back where I found them. I'm not crossing off the smallest digit. I'm just rounding it up.
So, on one hand we have my idea (virtually nothing changes) to Zimbabwe (12 zeroes change)
However, I do agree that my idea is ludicrous. It just doesn't do anything like what Zimbabwe did. -

Quote:The current inf caps don't stop people from having Inf. The Inf caps do NOT change how much Inf one is able to spend.If the Inf cap goes up it increases the prices for the top end items, which in turn may have a detrimental effect on the lower priced ones. The more one has available to spend the more he is willing.
The biggest factor hat you and others fail to add in is that the majority of people playing are ones who are the die hards and have been playing for a long time, therefore have vast amounts of inf at their disposal. In a community where 700 people is considered an above average online population you cannot expect many of those to be newer players. How often do you meet someone who has less that 1 or 2 years up to 5 or so vet badges? Not often i'd wager.
The higher people are allowed to hold and bid the worse the economy will become and in turn the less players you'll get joining and sticking with the game. It's already on the very low side.
So this statement "The more one has available to spend the more he is willing" is true. But "Inf caps change how much one has available to spend" is NOT true. There are too many ways around it and nothing prevents people from spending that money when they get it, allowing them to have an item and obtain more money. -
Quote:I wholeheartedly agree with you. However, nothing you mentioned would be altered in any significant way, shape, or form by having, not having, or changing Inf Caps or price caps.Since i've came back last weekend i have a scrapper to 32 and a DS MM to 22. On the Scrapper it's made 4mil more than it started with, and that's with having a boost from friends at the start. The MM is at 900k in the bank after 22 SO, with having no boost.
Now look at the ridiculous prices for IO's under those levels, only people with 50's can afford them. If that's not over inflated i don't know what is, no amount of farming at low levels is going to get you the IO's until you're higher.
Also, you can afford them if you find similar ones, sell them, and buy what you want. -
I don't think Force Field is required to reach the effective soft-cap. Dark has plenty of accuracy debuffs and there are plenty of other +defense powers. I think a set with more debuff and damage potential would be more effective than a FFer.
