Or, alternatively, there is no one uniform "Pay-To-Win-Complaint-Conspiracy". The feelings expressed by EG, Sam or even myself may, or may not, accurately reflect previous threads on the subject (or even each other).

See, that's where you went wrong. You think you're in a duplicate thread. You're not, and you seem to be having a really hard time coming to terms with this.

I realize that you have a really hard time shaking the idea that this is about other people, but it still isn't. Also, no one is demanding that you stop having fun, or even demand that anything is changed.

I never got a "raar raar evul!" vibe from him. Unlike most of his colleagues.

What does that have to do with Tyrion getting caught up in side-quests? Are you saying that Drogon masterminded all that? Because that would be weird.

Doms and Stalkers do fine too. And corruptors. Might do a controller next, just to see. Don't know how a blaster would like it though.

It didn't fail. It got dragged on and on with amusing little side-adventures and eventually pushed to book 6.

In hindsight, the 'plan', such as it were, couldn't come to some conclusion in book 5 because Tyrion was too useful, from a narrative standpoint, where he was. The things he witness during his Series of Misadventures are important to the plot (even when he doesn't get involved directly) and without him there, GRRM would have to introduce even more PoV characters to give us an insight into what's happening.

And, of course, 'The Humbling of Tyrion' might serve a greater purpose, as well.

Damn straight it doesn't. Starship Troopers was a fantastic movie.

He's really not. Maybe you don't feel the same way, and that's great, but I certainly share EG's sentiment. If, tomorrow, they released a "Badge Pack" on the market, containing every badge in the game, I would lose interest in hunting badges. Even if I never actually bought that pack, I wouldn't care nearly as much about badge hunting, simply because I'd know, in the back of my mind, that I could just buy it with two simple clicks. The effort, to me, would lose meaning.

I don't care whether other people have "bought" or "earned" their builds. The fact that I have the option to buy it, actively detracts from my desire to build anything in the first place.

I think that's what EG was getting at, too.

Turns out I have everything but the details 2 face mask. Doh. 'Common' indeed.

I'll have to go with a "Sure, why not?" on this one.

I think, in this case, Stannis comes off as a pretty typical "career dad". Sure, he loves his daughter, but that doesn't stop him from spending every waking hour 'at work'.

It's more of a theoretical love. But I don't think he's that much different from most other lords of Westeros, in that regard.

Me neither. But on the other hand, I don't think Daenerys could be any more dangerous than with Tyrion's council. It'd be very interesting to see what happened when they met.

I think, if I had not been hooked on his destination from the start, I'd probably have been able to enjoy the journey more. But as it was, it just seemed to drag on more and more with every little side-adventure.
  14. There's a 'The Human Fly' superhero? Sounds like a 'straight to DVD' release.

Speaking of protagonists, both Hans Gruber and Thulsa Doom lost in the end. So there's another Hollywood curveball for ya!

And, for the record, this is spot on. Sadly.
  18. On that note, anyone know what happens if you take your Praetorian through a portal out of Praetoria and/or First Ward? Can you even use the portals? Does it automatically switch you to the alignment of the first area you go to?

As a secondary observation: Running repeatable content in First Ward is mind-numbingly boring. My praetorian is level 26 by now, without choosing a primal-earth alignment. Because I'm stubborn. But... I just can't take any more of those missions. Gah.

I've tried grabbing a team, but First Ward is pretty desolate.

Tyrion's story has been steadily declining since book 2. He can't continue doing nothing and have script immunity forever.

But then again, I really hope all that story leads somewhere. Right now he just seems to be serving as the kind of character GRRM puts in place to be a witness to some perhaps-important events, or to nudging events in a particular direction. Perhaps in an effort to cut down on the number of PoV characters.

I had really looked forward to see the chemistry between Tyrion and Daenerys, in book five, so I was a little disappointed when Tyrion's journey just dragged on and on.

There's good and bad content on both sides. No one (here) is complaining about the likes of Willy Wheeler or Hardcase. But please don't make it out like blue-side is being as neglected as red-side, in terms of co-op content. That's not even remotely true.

As a primarily red-side player, I'd prefer good to bad content, obviously, but at this point any new villainous content would be an improvement.

I think you keep mistaking 'everyone' for 'I'.

Pre "gutting" I always ran through the AP (or preferably GC) and KR content. Because I liked it. Now there is no GC. There is practically no AP content, and one DfB run will take you past KR.

Maybe they were 'terrible', but I liked them. Much better than what we have now, at any rate.

Well, sorry. How many do you believe there should be then?

Personally I'm voting 'none'. I'd also hope villains wouldn't be forced into that situation, but I'm five years too late on that. See, what I'm objecting to, is an issue of quantity. When you say, " if the Devs ever did create a co-op arc/trial/whatever where heroes were forced into doing something despicable" that you'd play through it anyway, that's fine. But can you honestly tell me you wouldn't be just a teensy bit dissatisfied if they repeated that pattern for the next 13 issues? That's a lot of content that you can't justify playing through ICly.

Hey Sam, sorry about blowing a gasket. This thread is doing a good job of souring my mood.

I had just gone over that debate in my head before clicking submit: "should I say 'villain players' instead? Nah, too elaborate, and people will know what I mean." Some of us do think before we post.

And I'm not sure how to take being compared to Bad Influence...

It? Singular? Sure, I would play through that too when the one time was called the RWZ.

Nalrok_AthZim already posted a comprehensive list of just how much content you would actually have to "OOCly justify" for this to be an even remotely fair comparison. It covers how many years?

But perhaps you are just a better person than us. That's fine, but I don't see how that's helping the rest of us. It's just a prettier way to say "deal with it".

We have been. For a long time.
